Chapter 21: Girls Can So Play
The next day, it is the second day that the youth stayed with the herd. What excitement will happen on the second day, you ask? Well, we shall see. Morning has risen; the sun's ray's shine upon the herd's home. It is a quiet morning, hardly anyone out of their homes and be social with their neighbors. However, the quietude will be over before you know it.
"Hey! Wake up!"
With those words, Kevin's eyes open as his blurry vision goes into focus as he can see the beanie boy smiling wide.
"Morning, 'Sleeping Beauty'," Justin said jokingly.
Kevin groans tiredly as he snuggles close to his leaf-like-pillow, falling back to sleep. Justin sternly looks at Kevin as he takes the pillow away from him. Kevin sits up from his bed as Justin randomly feeds Kevin fruit for breakfast.
"C'mon we got a big day ahead of us!" Justin said in glee as he finally throws a banana into Kevin's mouth.
Kevin struggles to swallow the remaining food in his mouth. He takes a huge gulp as the food slowly goes down to his stomach. After that, Kevin begins to breathe heavily due to the suffocation of swallowing a pint of food.
"A-Are y-you to ch-choke me…?" Kevin said, holding his neck as he continues to breathe heavily.
Justin shakes his head, smirking. "No, I just wanna fill you up with fruit, and then I make you choke."
Kevin gives a very unsatisfied look, crossing his arms. Justin chuckles, fixing his yellow hair coming out of his beanie as he gazes back at Kevin. "I was joking, buddy. You know I wouldn't do that," said Justin, giving a playful wink at the spiky hair teen.
Kevin gets off the bed as he stretches with a yawn and puts on his black-and-white Vanes. "Since you woke me up, I guess we can start something new here. What are we gonna do?" Kevin asks the beanie boy.
"Oh, Peaches and her nervous mole friend wanna hang out with us and show us their home for the whole day," Justin explains their fun scheduled event.
Kevin nods, fond of the idea by hanging out with the mammals. "Okay, sounds good"
Justin smiles, ready to head outside to meet up with Peaches and her friend. "Let's go then!"
"'Kay," Kevin simply answers as he follows Justin.
The two boys begin to head outside of the herd's cave, but they were stopped by a brown mammoth. "Guys, where are you going?"
"Mornin', Manny," Justin greets.
"Good morning, Manfred," Kevin greets also with a smile on his face.
The dark brown mammoth smiles back, enjoying Kevin's attitude towards him. "Morning, Kevin, did you sleep well?"
"Of course…well…until Justin woke me up," Kevin said signaling at Justin as the other teen rolls his eyes.
Manny chuckles. "Well, I'm happy you slept well. Even in your first day staying with us-"
"Sorry if I break your conversation but me and Kevin are going somewhere," Justin said, shoving Kevin out of the entrance of the cave.
"Where are you two going?" Manny asks, curious where the teens are going.
"Don't worry. We're gonna hang out with Peaches and Louis!" Kevin calls out as he is pulled by Justin. "We won't be long!"
Soon, the two boys disappear from Manny's sight. The mammoth smiles and thinks about how different Kevin is from other teenagers. Kevin actually would tell where he would be going and assure that he'll be okay. Of course, he wouldn't imagine Justin doing something like that. The energetic and clumsy boy would get into trouble easily, and yet, Justin is the practically the oldest from the other three.
However, Manny begins to like Kevin. Not by his attitude, but his personality. His personality is different from Sara's and Justin's and not to mention Kota's as well. He's hardly sarcastic and is very polite. He's sort of has the personality that Kyle has, but more noble… Is Kevin somehow better than the three? Even Kyle? Kyle was more of a hyper, persistent, and optimistic kind of boy who cares about his friends and family. But Kevin is a little different, but he has to know more about him than just judging him at first glance. The mammoth just hopes that Kevin and his friends are fine and have a good time.
Kevin and Justin dash to the landscape of the island, racing each other who reach to their friends first. The boys pant as they run to the island, feeling the rush of wind hitting to their face, and the sounds of rocks and dried leaves being crushes by their shoes. They laugh together, thinking of the amazing fun they'll have for their summer vacation. Kevin doesn't mind what is happening in his modern time. He doesn't care if anyone is looking for him, Sara, and Justin. All he cares about is enjoying his vacation to an adventurous journey he'll be facing that no one will ever imagine.
"Hey, Kev', I see them ahead!" Justin shouts while panting as he can see his friends from a distance.
Kevin and Justin head towards at their awaiting friends, Sara and Kota with Peaches and Louis. As the boys finally arrive to their friends, Justin and Kevin collapse on the floor, catching some air.
"There you two are," Sara said. "We've been waiting for you, guys"
Justin pants lightly. "Sorry… I just got Kevin out of bed…"
Kevin gets up from the ground as his energy came back. "Now that we are here, what you guys wanna do?"
"Louis and I wanted to introduce you guys to our friends," Peaches explains with Louis on top of her, smiling.
"Friends? You mean there are more mammals, yo?" Justin questions.
"Yeah!" Louis replies.
"Cool, let's get going, guys," Kota said, ready to meet other teens around their age.
Peaches and Louis leads the four teens to group where the entire teenage mammals hang out. It brings the four in all. There is a place where girls hanged out, the boys also, the nerds, and the jocks. As the four follow Peaches and Louis, the teenage mammals turn and eye the three humans. It lowers their excitement and made them uneasy.
"They're looking at us funny…" Justin whispers to his friends.
"Just ignore them… They probably never met any humans…" Sara whispers back as she looks around, staring back at the mammals.
Peaches and Louis goes up to a redish-brown mammoth with a yellow hairdo with four other mammoths. "Hey, Ethan!" Peaches greets the male mammoth.
The redish-brown mammoth turns with a smile, happy to see the light brown female mammoth. "Hey, Peach," Ethan greets. "Sup, Louis!"
"Sup!" Louis replies, giving a knuckle-touch with the male mammoth.
Then, Ethan's eyes catch a glimpse of the three humans which by his surprise he's never seen such strange mammals in his life.
"Eww… What are those 'things'?!" said one of the female mammoths in disgust.
It actually alarmed and shocked the three humans. Justin sternly looks at the female mammoth with crossed arms. "That's stale, yo!"
"Katie, be nice," Ethan glares at the female mammoth with a blond hairdo.
"Peach, who are they?" Ethan asks, curious who these new faces are and what they are from.
"This guy over here is Justin," Peaches said, pointing the blond boy with the beanie. Then, she goes up to Sara and Kevin. "This is Sara—she and Justin are my best friends since I was a calf. And this guy is Kevin—he's a new friend to Sara and Justin and mines too."
"This is Kota—he's a new friend ours as well," Louis said, introducing the brown saber.
Ethan gives a warm smile at Peaches' and Louis' friends. "Nice to meet you, guys! I'm Ethan! These three ladies are Katie, Steffie, and Meghan," Ethan introduces himself as well as the three female mammoths. "What type of species are you three anyway?"
"We are humans," Sara smiles.
"Yeah!" Kevin said.
"I'm surprised you never heard of them," Kota said, his astonishment that a mammoth like him should know what humans are.
"There's hardly any species around our home," Ethan explains.
Sara smiles. "Aw, don't worry about it. At least you finally get meet us, humans"
"Hey, you're right," Ethan smiles back.
"Hey, weirdos!"
Kevin and the others turn to see a teenage mature gazelle with a male mammoth and rhino. "Are they talking to us?" Kevin questions, eyeing at the rude mammals coming towards them.
"I think they are," Kota replies.
"If yall wanna be a part of us, you gotta try to beat us in a game that we just made," said the gazelle.
"A game, yo? Like what?" Justin asks confused what game it was talking about.
The gazelle turns his head to a direction where there is a net standing on the sand which looks like a volleyball court. "We call the game: Holleyball—it was invented by Holley"
"Uh…you mean Volleyball?" Sara corrects them.
"No, we call it Holleyball, like it or not," the gazelle said.
Justin shrugs. "Heh…whatevs… But with a deal, it's us humans versus you animals and you have to treat us nicely"
"Deal then!" said the gazelle. "Let's start the game!"
"Alright then, it's me, Kevin and Sara," Justin said, getting his team ready to play the animal's version of volleyball.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" the gazelle stops Justin in his tracks. "Heh heh…um…girls CAN'T play!"
With those words, it gets the trio in shock that Sara can't play. "Um anti-feminist much?" said Sara, disbelieved that the males think that girls cannot play a sport.
"C'mon, yo! That's mest up! That leaves us only two!" Justin protests, disagreeing that Sara cannot play the sport.
"Well, stinks to be you!" the gazelle said, not even caring that the humans only have two players.
Ethan feels bad for them as he thinks that he can probably help them. "Hey, guys. How 'bout I join in the team? I'm pretty good at this game"
However, this didn't stop Sara. She goes up to the teenage gazelle face-to-face with a stern look. "Listen, buddy. I maybe a female, but I can prove you, boys, that girls can do too play!" said Sara, pushing her finger at the male gazelle's chest.
"Okay, we'll see about that!" the gazelle said, agreeing to let Sara play; thinking she's basically wrong.
"So, you agree to let me play in the team?" Sara asks, uncertain if the gazelle will let her play.
"Yeah, sure, whatever! Stop wasting time!" the gazelle said in annoyance, walking away as he prepares his team.
After the verdict, the boys jump in joy and hold Sara close; happy that they didn't leave out of the team. "Alright, Sara!" Kevin cheers.
"C'mon, guys! Let's play some volleyball!" Sara said, motivating her two friends.
The three head to the sandy volleyball court as everyone gathers around to watch the interesting game since it includes a girl player. Peaches, Ethan and Kota sit in the front row to watch the game and to cheer their three friends.
"GO SARA!" Peaches cheers to her friends as Sara waves back.
The boys from the other team giggle at the point of having a girl playing a sport. It's mostly what guys like to do not girls. Sara just rolls her eyes as she, Justin and Kevin were ready to start the game.

In the opposite team, the male rhino player first serves the coconut-like-volleyball towards to Sara's team. Justin is the first one to try to bounce the ball back as he trips; bumping into Kevin at the process.
"Justin!" Kevin glares at him.
"Sorry…" Justin apologizes.
The opposite sees the accident as the boys point and laugh at the other team; thinking how ridiculous they are. The crowd also begins to laugh with the opposite team, mocking Sara's team. As the laughter continues, the crowd suddenly made a gasp as the gazelle, rhino, and mammoth laugh until they realize the laughter ended and stayed quiet. They look at the ground in shock to see the coconut-ball on their side of the court. They see Sara with a smirk on her face as she is waiting for the ball to pass. Was it true? Can girls really play sports?! They think. They look at Sara in awe as she smiles and turns away and gets to her position.
Now, it is Justin's turn to serve the ball. He throws the ball in the air and hits it over to the other team. The mammoth follows the ball and hits the ball back towards to the other team. Sara runs to the net and jumps high and spikes the ball to the opposite side of the team. The ball lands on the sandy ground as dust of the sand smolders into the air.
"Dang! She's good!" Ethan compliments Sara.
"I know right! Wow!" Peaches agrees as she whistles to cheer on for Sara.
"She's…amazing…" Kota replies, amazed that Sara proved the guys wrong as his green eyes won't leave from the human girl.
"Um…John…" whimpers the mammoth to his gazelle friend. "She's gonna bomb us…"
After of a couple games, Sara continues to spike and defend the ball. The opposite are exhausted and terrified that Sara was owning them. The animal team serves the ball as the ball is heading towards Kevin. Kevin hits the ball, passing to Justin as he then hits it over to the other team. The exhausted gazelle hits the ball back to the teens but the ball was high up and went over them as the ball bounced into the woods.
Music Ends…
"I'll go get it!" Kevin said, racing towards the coconut-ball.
Kevin enters into the woods as he searches for the ball. After a couple of minutes, he search high and low and there was no sign of the ball. It is strange for him. He was right behind the ball and now it was gone.
"Where can that ball be…?" Kevin questions himself.

"Talking to yourself, aren't you?"
After hearing the mysterious voice, Kevin jumps in alarm as he turns to see a boy with a helmet-like-mask with a black circle symbol; that the strange monsters had, wearing a grayish skinned suit with knee and elbow metal patches with a green scope at his left eye from his mask. The masked figure stands with an evil grin as he has the ball on his right foot.
"You're?" Kevin asks as the masked-man kicks the ball towards Kevin; hitting him as he grunts by the hit.
"So, you just come here and think that you'll have a normal vacation here at the Ice Age, am I right or wrong?" said the mysterious masked-man, walking towards to Kevin slowly.
Kevin slowly backs away in fear, determined not to mess with him. "I…I don't know what you are or what you want with me…but…" Kevin said he summons his sword, Sorin, for defense. "LEAVE. ME. ALONE. Or I'll make you not forget this day!"
The masked-man stares at Kevin for a moment as he chuckles darkly. "Okay then…fine," he said. Suddenly, the masked-man releases a dark mist from his hand as he summons a dark sword.
"Y-You have one too!" Kevin said, shocked as he gets in a fighting stance, glaring at the masked figure.
"Goooood…. Let's see what you're made of…" the masked-man said darkly, holding his weapon into a fighting stance also.
Kevin charges towards to the masked figure, swinging his sword as the shining metal blades of Sorin light up. The masked-man dodges Kevin's attack quickly. Kevin quickly continues to slash the figure but no luck to hit him; missing every inch. Kevin is starting to get exhausted as he didn't have any energy left since he played volleyball earlier. The masked-man swings his attack but Kevin manages to dodge his attack and counterattack him. The masked-man cries in pain noticing the wound at the side of his chest.
"Now you done it…!" the masked-man darkly answers as his rage increases.
The masked-man charges Kevin at a swing as Kevin dodges his attack. However, the masked-man teleported behind Kevin and hits him with his weapon. Then, he begins to beat Kevin to pulp, throwing Kevin to the ground.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Kevin cries landing hard, falling unconscious.
"Is THAT really it? You made it an easy fight—I even didn't use all of my strength," the masked-man teased the out-cold Kevin. Then the masked figure charges a dark energy aura, ready to destroy Kevin. "Good-bye, fool…"
"Kevin!"
The masked-man turns to see someone coming towards where he and Kevin are. Frustrated, he ends his final blow and summons a portal. "Count yourself lucky!" the masked-man figure growls as he disappears in an instant.
Sara then comes out of the woods to see Kevin injured and unconscious as she hurries to her friend worried. "KEVIN!"
Then Justin and the others even the other teenage mammals are behind them as they rush to Kevin in concern. Sara looks at Justin worried, "Justin, go get help!"
Justin nods and quickly runs to the herd for help.
Well, it seems Manny is starting to like Kevin a lot more than expected. So, the four also got to meet Ethan and the Brat Pack. Sara did show those guys that any girl can play a sport. GO SARA! Lol And it seems that Kevin finally confronted Masked-Man who wants to harm Kevin so badly, but why? Is it possible that Kevin can be better than Kyle? Will Kevin be okay? What will be the herd's reaction...especially Manny's? Stay tuned to find out! :D
