Thanks for the reviews everyone! AVP5, you'll get you wish in this chapter ^^
Idiotic-Rebel - Awhh! Not the corner! I've actually got all of this book written out ^^ only three more chapters to do! But the second book is only half-written so I should probably get on that... especially since I'm not going to put it on until I finish writing all of it... :O
Anakin cut himself off as blaster bolts sounded from the direction that he had sent Rex and Loki, and just after the sound stopped Anakin could sense panic coming from Rex.
He swore under his breath and took off running, ignoring the shouts of the others. He turned a quick corner and saw a Droidika with Loki's staff protruding out of it, and the god himself lying on his hands and arms, but was breathing.
Anakin was aware that the Avengers, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka had followed him as the Jedi looked at Rex, who was looking a bit put out.
"He pushed me out of the way, sir, and got shot several times." Rex explained, standing up, and rubbing the back of his neck, "He's – uh – healing himself now."
Behind him, Anakin was very much so aware of the bristling anger coming from the Avengers.
"Barton!" he heard Ahsoka snap, "Put that down!"
"I don't answer to you!"
"Barton!" that was Rodgers, "Do as she says." His voice was tense, and Anakin didn't have a tough time assuming that Barton had a weapon aimed at Loki, and it was annoying him.
Anakin swirled around to see Barton with his bow and arrow aimed at Loki on the ground. The other Avengers had a varying array of emotions that Anakin did not want to deal with now.
"Put that damn bow away!" Anakin said, barley containing his shouting, glaring at the man who was now looking at Anakin in anger, "I don't know, nor do I care, what your problem is! But Loki has saved my life, saved Rex's life, and destroyed hundreds of droids before you turned up and saved a great deal of innocent lives, so take your idiotic grudge elsewhere!" his voice was greatly tense.
Everyone seemed surprised by Anakin's outburst, and Obi-Wan looked slightly disapproving but Anakin found that he really didn't care at that moment. Barton just narrowed his eyes at the Jedi and lowered his bow slowly.
Thor took it upon himself at that moment to shove Barton to the side and stride past Anakin. He leveled himself down to Loki's level (and the small smile that Loki had gained while Anakin was shouting quickly changed to a blank look) and tried to look at Loki face.
"Brother, are you well?"
"I am not your brother." Was Loki's flat reply, "Never was."
Thor didn't move away from Loki, which is what Loki wanted him to do, but he just looked at the god of mischief with sad eyes, "Brother." He started.
"Don't call me that." Loki's voice was still flat.
"Bro-" Thor didn't finish the word, because Loki suddenly shot up so he was sitting straight, in his eyes were alight in anger, "I said, don't call me that!" the god snarled, "We are not brothers, you insufferable oaf!" and in a quick second he had vanished.
Anakin let out a barely contained sigh and flexed his hands out, trying to get a reign on his anger. He walked over to the decimated Destroyer and yanked Loki's sceptre out in one pull.
"If you'll excuse me, I have to go find a peeved off, injured god." Anakin said with a sigh, "You guys coming?" he asked, indicating to Ahsoka, Obi-Wan and Rex.
The former and latter quickly moved to his side, whilst the one in the middle sighed. Obi-Wan placed his hand over his forehead, but then walked over to Anakin. He glanced at the Avengers.
Barton was fuming with barely restrained anger. Natasha was not as angry as her partner but was still mad. Steve was the hardest to get a read on. Tony was angry but not as much as the two agents. Banner was rubbing his forehead, and Thor was looking despairingly at the spot that Loki had vanished form.
"I feel the need to remind you that Loki is under Jedi protection." Obi-Wan said, looking at the Avengers, Barton in particular, "And your director even agreed that only if Loki starts trouble shall he be taken into your custody." Anakin was looking at Obi-Wan in a mild look of surprise.
Rodgers nodded his head, "That was the deal and none of us will act otherwise." The man said with a nod of his head.
Obi-Wan smiled at them, "Now, we shall rejoin you shortly." Obi-Wan said his voice pleasant.
The Jedi and Clone trooper turned around to walk down the street. Anakin looked at Obi-Wan with a raised eyebrow, "What's your plan?" he asked with a curious look.
"Easy. Find Loki and stop him from starting trouble." Obi-Wan responded, making Anakin smirk, despite the situation.
Loki reappeared in the hotel room, and fell back onto a bed; he didn't care which, with a wince. His wounds were not life threatening but he didn't have much concentration to heal them so they still hurt a small bit.
And Norns was Loki mad. He knew coming here was a bad idea. He knew it so much, yet he had let Skywalker and Hela convince him to come! As soon as he could, he was going to get out of this world. He'd take Skywalker, Rex, Kenobi and Tano back to their world if he had to. Maybe take up residence with Hela for a while… Thanos wouldn't be able to find him there? He did before though. That was the whole reason he came to this norn-forsaken Realm!
Loki growled under his breath as he felt his wounds healing warmly, and his skin knit over it. Thanos. No matter where he went, that Eternal would be hovering over him. Every shadow, every person, everywhere and every place.
The only way Loki would forever escape from him was death. And it didn't matter if it was Thanos' or Lokis'.
"Hello again."
Loki shot up in a sitting position, his wounds only twinging slightly at the sudden movement. How had someone got into this room without him knowing?
"Count Dooku." Loki replied, putting on a cool façade as he looked at the shimmering blue form that stood in middle of the room, "I must say, this is rather unexpected."
The hologram on the man gave a smile towards the god, "A new form of technology we are working on." The man said with a shrug, "It's still in the experimental stages but this is not what I wanted to talk to you about."
Loki kept a blank face, "What is it you wish to speak about then?"
"This is the planet you once tried to rule, is that not correct?"
If Loki was surprised, he didn't show it at all, "That is correct." He said with a light nod of his head.
"What would you say if I had a preposition for you?"
"I would say that last time; you said you weren't going to ask again." Loki said, raising an eyebrow.
Dooku just smiled at that, "Ah yes, last time I had no idea who you were." He chuckled, "Now I do, and know you would be a powerful asset in my conquering of this planet?"
Loki smiled in amusement, "You know who I am?" he asked with an inquiring eyebrow, "Oh, please, do tell."
"You are Loki Odinson, god of Mischief and lies, youngest of two brothers and a prince of Asgard. The inhabitants of this planet, Earth or Midgard whichever you prefer, also call you a god of fire. Is that true?"
Loki wasn't sure where Dooku got his information from, it was a bit outdated, but he wasn't going to call him out of that, he wasn't to see where this was heading, so Loki just shrugged, "I do have excellent abilities over fire with my magic." Which was rather odd since he was a Frost Giant, "It is rather easy for Mortals to think that."
Dooku smiled, "I also know that your attempt to rule this planet failed because of those Avengers. If I could take them out of the image, you can bring your army back and joined with mine shall be an unstoppable force."
Loki arched an eyebrow, "My army shall not be returning, Count, as they were more of a loan." He said with an irritated roll of his eyes, "And how exactly do you think you'd get the Avengers out of the way? Together they are more than a match for you, as you have discovered."
Dooku nodded his head, "It is true that I did not know the full extent of their powers, or that they had their own god… your brother I believe?" Loki said nothing, "I can dispose of him for you. I heard you are not on great terms with him?"
"Do not touch him." Loki snarled, jumping to his feet, "Thor is mine and mine alone! Do whatever you want with the rest of the Avengers, but Thor is-"
"Yours. I got that." Dooku's voice was dry, "So are you in agreement?"
Loki looked at Dooku with cold eyes, "Can you guarantee that your plan will not end in defeat like mine did?"
Dooku paused, "No. But with you by my side, we would stand a greater chance." The man said.
Loki looked at him and crossed his arms, "You would still have the Hulk to deal with." Loki pointed out, "And that beast is not easy to defeat – at all."
"I have a plan for that."
"Do tell."
"Do the words, 'vacuum of space' mean anything to you?"
Loki blinked. Leaving Hulk in a vacuum of space might actually work…. Would it? He couldn't breath, but would that stop the beast?
"How would you get him there?"
"That is for me to worry about." Dooku said, making Loki shift in irritation, "There is also the matter of the Jedi that are there with you. Alive they are a hindrance to my plans."
Loki looked at Dooku for a moment, "I shall deal with them." He said, looking at the man with a nod of his head.
Dooku looked surprised, "You are certain? I had thought you had become friendly with them?"
"I have no friends." Loki said, his words bitter, "They assisted me, so I stayed to repay that debt. That debt is payed."
"Excellent." Dooku said, his smile growing, "So you are in agreement with me?"
Loki looked at Dooku, a sinister smile replacing his previous expression, "To get my revenge on the people who foiled my plans? To take the planet my brother loves so dearly? Oh, my dear Count, you have no idea how much I want to say yes." Loki said, the sinister glint reaching his eyes, "And I will, on one condition."
"What is it?"
"You help me kill an Eternal."
"Are we just going to let them walk away with our War Criminal?!" Barton asked, his eyes staring daggers at anyone who attempted to try and calm him down, "Am I the only one who remembers what he did here?"
"No, Clint, you're not." Natasha said, resting her hand on his shoulder, "We all remember."
"Then why are we letting him walk away! He should be chained up in a dark cell for what he did!"
"Watch what words escape your mouth, Hawk man!" Thor growled, spinning to look at Barton angrily, "Loki is still my brother!"
"Not according to him!"
Thor gave a deep growl in his throat and then his hammer was in his hand and raised up as if to hit something.
"Barton, Thor! Calm down!" Rodgers shouted, shoving his way between the God and Archer, "Fighting amongst ourselves in not going to help matters!"
"Spangles has a point guys." Tony said, crossing his armoured arms across his red metal chest plate, "Like last time, this could all be part of Reindeer Games's plan. Try to pull us apart again?"
"Sir, Director Fury is calling." Jarvis interrupted, the AI sounding through all of their ear pieces.
"Patch him through, J." Tony responded with a frown, and then the voice of Fury entered all of their ears.
Please don't hit me ((I got enough of that at my martial art grading)) for what Loki's doing. I really have no control over these people. .
So reviews? Thanks! :D
