After All These Years Chapter 21

Mari weaved in and out of traffic on their way to the Penthouse. Dee was on the phone "Yeah…I'm not sure how long we'll be gone. I won't be able to contact you either…yeah…yeah…tell Granny to put wards up. And daddy wear your charm. Yeah…I'll be as safe as I can…yeah, I love you too. Kiss Granny for me. Bye" the young witch hung up and sighed "This is going to be a shit show."

"How's your dad and Granny?" Mari pressed down on the gas as she ran the yellow light. "They doin' all right?

"Yeah they're fine," Dee closed her eyes "It's not them I'm worried about."

"Madam?"

"Madam," Dee bent her head to the right sighing when there was a series of pops "You know what she was like when Master Stephen was killed. We both saw what she did."

"Yeah…I'm more curious to see what Derek does." Mari pulled into the parking lot of the building and waited.

Dee whispered a spell under her breath, Mari could feel magic roll off of her and out into the parking garage. After a moment Dee opened her eyes "No hostiles. All employees are on alert."

The two women got out of the car and headed toward the elevator. "Why take Bonnie and Jey?" Mari wondered. The soft ping of the elevator moving upward was her only response.

"Mari…why haven't you called your parents?"

Two heart beats passed "My parents are in Spain. I don't need to call them." Mari's accent deepened with her harsh tone.

Dee rolled her eyes and pressed the emergency button. They both gripped the handrail as the elevator stuttered to a halt. Dee turned to Mari, anger and fear deep set in her eyes. Mari looked away.

"And what if you don't come back? Huh?" Dee reached up and grabbed the other's face, forcing them to look each other in the eyes, tears welled in Dee's. "What if you die out there? Do you hate your parents that much? You can't even let them know you might die?!"

Mari closed her eyes and sighed "It's not that sim—"

"The fuck it's not simple. I know, you didn't have the best relationship growing up but it's gotten better. You said so yourself." Dee was practically yelling as she let Mari's face go "Unless you were lying to me." the last sentence was barely a whisper.

Mari didn't answer just moved to restart the elevator. Silence took them up to the Penthouse.

Bonnie woke to soft sniffles. Sniffles she knew well. Kelsey. Senses going into overdrive Bonnie realized that she was tied up. Metal. Fuck. Bonnie took a deep breath. You can't over react. Kelsey is somewhere nearby. After her eyes adjusted she found that she was in a dark room, tied to a bed. The steady bounce and occasional rumble reminded her of…a train car…fuck! "Kelsey?" she whispered. She hoped the little girl would be able to hear her. she sounded close but Bonnie could only guess.

A sniffle then a soft gasp "Bonnie?" Kelsey whispered back, voice cracking. "Where are you? Where are we?"

Bonnie blinked back the tears in her eyes "I don't know baby. I'm gonna get to you. I promise." Bonnie strained against the chains until they started to creak. She was so focused on the action that she didn't notice the door to the train car opening. "There's no need for all of that." the smooth female voice curled around Bonnie's ears and made her growl. "What do you want with those kids?!"

The woman laughed a little. "I don't want anything with the kids. I just want my paycheck. In order to get that I have to make sure you all stay in line."

"Why are you doing this?!"

"Don't you worry about that." The woman walked over and unlocked the chains that held Bonnie's hands together. "Sit tight. I'm going to bring the pup in here. If you try anything," the woman tilted Bonnie's head up to look into her green eyes "I'll kill her right in front of you."

Bonnie's lips pulled back and growl built in her chest.

"Bark all you like. But behave." With that final warning the woman exited the car. The slam of the door carried a weight of finality.

"I couldn't give a rat's ass about your son Guy! I want to know where your snake of a brother is!" Derek and his cousin Carter leaned against a wall in Guy's office watching Chloe lay into the man.

"I sent out scouts. They're headed in all directions. Like you wanted." Carter grinned as Chloe picked up the pendulum on Guy's desk and threw it at the wall. He whistled "She's a firecracker huh?"

Derek huffed "More liked a forest fire like this." Chloe reached over the desk and jerked Guy up by his tie. "When was the last time you saw Frank and Tyler?" she hissed "You need to start cooperating Guy. Or our deal is off."

Guy paled "N-No, please. I…the last time I saw Frank was this morning. He seemed normal at the time."

Chloe pushed him back into his chair. "I want all of your staff questioned. And full access to all of your databases."

Guy nodded "Of course. Whatever I can do to help." Chloe turned on her heel and stalked out of the office. Derek and Carter close behind.

"Any news?" She asked as they got into the elevator.

"No word yet but the scouts are searching. If they find any trace, we'll know soon." Derek responded, pressing the basement button.

"We've got wolves in five states looking for them." Carter chimed in "A mistake they made was taking Bonnie and Jey. We know their scents. We can track them."

Chloe nodded "Good. But if Frank is behind this, and I wouldn't put it past him especially given Collin's statement, he took Jey and Bonnie to keep Chris and Kelsey quiet. He's not stupid."

"Well not completely stupid." Carter said as they exited the elevator "Who decides 'yeah, I'm gonna kidnap the Alpha's daughter and the leader of my biggest rival's son.' Not a smart move on his part Chloe."

Derek hummed as they made their way to Collin's office "Frank will get what's coming to him."

Chloe necklace glowed "I guarantee it."
