Sam and Jack managed to make a sizeable dent in tidying up Jack's office before they decided to call it a night.

Sam hadn't felt sick for the rest of the day, which she was glad of, but she knew that she was probably going to be ill a few more times before the baby was born.

Jack drove the two of them home and they sat in a comfortable silence until they reached the house.

"So," Jack began as they entered the house, "What do you fancy for dinner Sam? I'll cook tonight."

"Thanks Jack and I don't mind what we have," Sam answered as she grabbed her laptop and lay on the sofa with it on her lap, "But nothing to rich."

"Got it," Jack answered, "I'll see what's in the cupboard and go from there."

"Thank you Jack," Sam called after him as she watched her laptop boot up.

Jack didn't answer but Sam could hear as he began to open and shut the cupboards in the kitchen, looking for something to cook.

Sam then turned her total attention to her laptop; she wanted to do some research. She'd never been pregnant before and didn't know many people who had, so she wasn't really sure what to expect.

The first thing she looked up was how long morning sickness would last. She found that it usually started early on in the pregnancy, within the first twelve weeks which gave Sam a rough timeline of events so far. It went on to say that it usually cleared up around the third month of the pregnancy, although there was a one in ten chance that it would continue after that.

She then looked up when she'd start to show. She knew that she could have just asked Janet, and she probably would when she saw her friend next, but she wanted to have a rough idea beforehand.

It looked like she could start to show at any time, but being a first time mum it was more likely to be between twelve and sixteen weeks.

"What are you looking at?" Jack asked, coming and sitting on the sofa by Sam's waist and kissing her on the forehead.

"I was just curious," Sam explained, "I've never been pregnant before and I don't really know anyone who's been pregnant, so I just wanted to know what to expect."

"Well that's fair enough," Jack answered, "But I'm pretty sure Janet would be more help than the internet."

Sam shrugged. "I know that," she responded, "But I still wanted to know." She looked at the laptop screen and then back to Jack. "I wonder how far along I am," she muttered, "I mean I have no idea when we conceived, it could have been any night when the hormones stopped working and I have no idea which one it was."

"Well Janet can tell you that. She can measure you hCG levels and give you an ultrasound and then you'll know for sure," Jack told her.

"I think," Sam mussed as she gave Jack a smile, "That the fact you've gone through all this before is really going to help me, I don't like having to deal with unknown things."

Jack laughed. "And yet you still do the job you do."

Sam shrugged. "That's a different kind of unknown," she reasoned, "Plus when we go off world we always know to expect the worse, I don't even know what to expect with this."

Jack gave her a reassuring smile. "It'll be fine," Jack assured her, "Janet will be there to help you though it, every step of the way, and so will Daniel, Teal'c and me."

"Thank you," Sam said, reaching out and hugging Jack close.

"I mean it," Jack said, pulling away and kissing Sam on the nose.

Sam laughed as Jack stood and said, "Well dinner is ready when you are." He offered Sam a hand. "We've got vegetable soup out of the freezer to start off then baked potatoes, none of which is too rice, just as the lady ordered."

Sam put her laptop onto the coffee table and took Jack's hand. He pulled her up and then the two of them headed into the kitchen to eat.

After they'd eaten Jack cleaned up, refusing to let Sam help. "You're not going to be able to do that for nine months," Sam pointed out as Jack took the plate from her hand.

Jack shrugged. "No but I can certainly try."

Sam scowled at him. "I'm perfectly capable of doing things for myself, especially putting some dishes in the dish washer," she said.

"Yes I do know that," Jack accepted, "But there's only going to be so much that I can actually stop you from doing, so I'm going to do it."

Sam shook her head but otherwise left it at that. Instead she left the room and headed towards the phone. "I'm going to call Janet," she called back to Jack, "See if I can an ultrasound at some point in the near future so then we'll know just how far along I am."

"Good plan," Jack called back over the sound of him shutting the dish washer door.

Sam smiled to herself as she picked up the phone and dialled Janet's number.

"Hello," came Cassie's voice from the other end, "Fraiser household."

"Hi Cassie," Sam replied with a smile.

"Sam," Cassie exclaimed on the other end of the phone, "How are you?"

"I'm very well thank you Cassandra," Sam replied, "Has your mom told you the good news?"

"No," Cassie answered, "But I knew that there was something, she was really happy when she got home today."

Sam smiled. "You've got to promise you won't tell anyone," Sam said, "So far only Jack, Teal'c, General Hammond, Daniel and your mom know."

"I can keep a secret Sam," Cassie assured her.

"I know you can," Sam answered, "Which is why I'm going to tell you right now. I'm pregnant."

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few seconds before Cassie spoke again. "Congratulations Sam," she gushed, "I'm happy for you and Uncle Jack."

Sam laughed then asked, "Could you pass me over to your mom please Cassie? I need to ask her something."

"Ok Sam," Cassie said and then Sam heard the sound of movement as Cassie went in search of Janet.

Sam smiled to herself; Cassie was going to be a great cousin to this baby.

She was pulled out of her thoughts by Janet's voice on the other end of the line. "Hi Sam," she said, "What's up? Nothing serious I hope."

"No nothing serious," Sam replied quickly, "I was just wondering if we could do an ultrasound soon? Only I'd like to know how far along I am. Jack also said that looking at my hCG levels could tell us that."

"Well he's not wrong," Janet answered, "But an ultrasound would be more reliable." There was a moment of silence on the other end before Janet continued to say, "I know that you have the weekend off but perhaps you could come in tomorrow and we can do it then, as well as answer any questions that I am sure you have."

Sam thought for a moment before she nodded to herself. "Thank you Janet. What time would suit you best?"

"How about the morning?" Janet suggested, "That way it won't interfere with your day too much."

"Yeah that should be fine," Sam mused, "Just give me two seconds to check with Jack if we're doing anything."

"Sure thing," Janet responded.

Sam smiled and put the phone down for a moment as she went into the kitchen to talk to Jack. "What are we doing tomorrow morning Jack? Janet is saying that I can go in and get an ultrasound then."

"Nothing as far as I know," Jack said, turning from where he was washing the oven tray he'd cooked the potatoes in, "But I think mom has invited us round in the afternoon for dinner."

Sam nodded, "Yes I remember that. I'll tell Janet that that's fine then."

Jack nodded. "I hope you don't mind if I tag along," he then said.

"Of course not Jack," Sam answered, "After all it's your baby too."

Jack smiled and Sam headed back to the phone. "You still there Janet?" she asked.

"Still here Sam," Janet replied.

"Tomorrow morning would be great Janet," Sam told her.

"Ok," Janet answered, "Well in that case I'll see you then."

"Bye Janet."

"Bye Sam."

Sam hung up the phone and then headed back into the kitchen.
