Bruce grappled to the location Tim gave him, opening a comma link with Robin as he swung and guided through the air. "Robin? What's happening."
"Nice if you to join us B, seems like there's a situation involving the League of Assassins down at the docks. Nightwing is already there."
"Hey Bruce, dock 3-B. But they're not doing anything, and they have a kid with them?"
Bruce's voice instantly went softer, "a kid? Are they in danger?"
"No just standing there next to Talia. He kinda looks familiar…"
Bruce groaned internally at the thought of running into Talia but sucked it up as the docks came into view. From his vantage point he could see Nightwing and dropped down softly next to him.
"God, I feel like I've seen that kid before bats, what about you?"
Bruce pulled out his binoculars to get a better look at the boy. He had green eyes and black hair and stood to about Talia's elbow. His back was straight, and he had a sword at his hip like the other assassins. "He looks like a member of the league as far as I can tell."
"He looks so serious, god he can't be no older than what 11?"
Bruce nodded, and Tim landed softly on Dicks other side. Tim crouched down, "so what are they doing?"
Dick shrugged, "I have no idea. Talia keeps pulling out her phone and looking st it but that's it."
Almost as if she heard them she pulled out her phone with a sour look and typed something out before putting it in her pocket. The boy looked around with the same expression before scanning the rooftops. The three bats hunched down as Bruce swore lightly when he felt his phone vibrate.
"Really? Who could that be?" Time eyed him as Bruce pulled out the phone, making sure the brightness was all the down before cursing again. "Shit Talia is trying to get ahold of me!"
The trio turned back to Talia who was listening to the boy. The boy was pointing at the roof they were on. Nightwing gasped "does he see us!?"
Talia narrowed her eyes at the rooftop before stepping forward, "Bruce get down here, I just need a moment to talk to you!"
Bruce narrowed his eyes but still stood up and jumped off the edge of the roof. His cape was drawn around him as he stalked forward.
"I'm not in the mood for your little games Talia. What do you want?"
She smiled sweetly as him and walked forward to meet him, cupping her hand on his cheek. "Oh, my darling is that what you should say to your lover?" She leaned forward for a kiss but was stopped by a thick armored glove.
Bruce gripped her wrist and pulled her hand away, "my boyfriend," he spoke in hushed tones, barely loud enough for her to hear. "Is at home in bed, Talia. Keep your hands to yourself."
She looked at him in shock before stepping away, "so the magazines were correct? You really are with a man?" The boy glared at him, squeezing his hands into fists at his sides. Talia turned to the boy and ushered him forward. "And here I was thinking we might have the chance to be a happy little family!"
Bruce's eyebrow twitched. "What are you talking about Talia?"
"Oh, you don't see the resemblance? Well allow me to introduce you to Damian Al-Ghul, my son." She paused and locked eyes with Bruce. "Our son."
Bruce his his shock well on the outside, but on the inside, he was screaming and felt like he had just been dunked in ice water. He looked down at the boy who tsked.
"Tch, father." Damian extended his hand towards Bruce who looked at it before getting down on his knee and looking Damian in the eye as he took it.
"Hello Damian. It's a pleasure to meet you." Bruce didn't want to admit it, but up close the resemblance was uncanny. Other than the green eyes, it was like looking in a mirror from thirty years ago. Damian's eyes softened as he looked at Bruce, but they hardened again when Talia put her hand on his shoulder.
"He wanted to meet you Bruce. I think my father filled his head with ideas of us living together and you joining the assassins…" she trailed off and looked at Bruce who flared at her. "Anyways, I want him to train with you. He has already been trained into a master assassin, but he needs more." She leaned forward, rubbing a hand on Bruce's chest plates "he needs discipline."
"Tch."
Bruce looked at the boy before eyeing Talia. Dick and Tim watched from the roof with wide eyes, unsure of what Bruce was going to do in that moment. "Fine. But he learns my way. No contact with you except-" she waved a hand in his face cutting him off.
"Yes, fine fine, get your things"
Damian went to one of the bodyguards and grabbed a large bag before walking over to Bruce. "Farewell mother."
"Goodbye Damian, Bruce." She paused for a moment before getting on the boat that was docked. The boat roared to life as soon as everyone was on and made its way out of the harbor.
Damian immediately turned to Bruce, "father when do we start training?"
Batman sighed as Dick and Tim ran up to them, "tomorrow."
Dick was barely holding back laughter, "oh my gosh so it's true? He's your son?"
Bruce glared at him, "that has yet to be determined. I'm going back to the cave, we need to see if he really is my son or not."
"Tch, of course I am."
Bruce ignored him and turned to Tim, "you guys have this covered for now?"
Robin eyed the boy a little wary, "we got you B. Just get home and figure out what you're going to tell Wally."
Bruce grimaced and nodded as he called the bat mobile to their location. "I'll handle it."
They nodded and went back to the rooftops as the familiar roaring sound of the car got louder.
"Hmm, so that was Nightwing and Robin. I thought they would be more impressive in person."
Bruce glances at him but didn't say anything as the Batmobile came to stop in front of him, shaking the ground. "Get in." The hatch opened, and he jumped into the front, Damian close behind. As soon as he made sure Damian was buckled in he took off into the night.
Alfred looked up from his current patient as the Batmobile skidded to a halt in the damp cave. He took off his gloves and wiped his hands off on his apron before walking forward. "Master Bruce! I thought you would be out all night!" He called down when he saw the hatch open.
"Change of plans Alfred. Is the computer free?"
"But of course."
He nearly turned away until he saw a young boy get out of the car. "Hello! And who might you be?"
The boy turned to Alfred and Alfred was sent back in time momentarily to a screaming match with Bruce at that age over what he should and shouldn't be doing after his parents' death. "I am Damian Al-Ghul, son of Talia Al-Ghul and Bruce Wayne." Alfred raises an eyebrow at Bruce who just turned towards the computer.
Jason sat up on the stretcher his eyes wide with joy, "did that brat just say he was Bruce's illegitimate kid!?"
"Lay down master Jason."
"No this is the best day of my life!"
Alfred placed a hand on Jason's chest, his eyes flashed dangerously, "down. Now! Do you want these new stitches to rip!?"
Jason quickly laid down, "no sir…. "
"You May tease him tomorrow."
Jason pumped his fist in the air, "yas!"
Alfred quickly patched up Jason and sent him on his way, making sure to give him the look to remind him to behave. Jason rolled his eyes but nodded before leaving in a could of dust on his motorcycle. Alfred cleaned his hands thoroughly and headed over to the main computer where he could see Bruce and Damian staring at the screen. The computer was analyzing the data still as he walked up behind them.
"Master Bruce, it's rather late, should I show master Damian to his room?"
"Yes, that would be wonderful, thank you Alfred."
"My pleasure follow me." He began walking up to the elevator, Damian following him from behind.
"Tch, I'm not even tired Pennyworth. It would make more sense for me to stay awake and help father with crime operations."
Alfred suppressed rolling his eyes. "I don't believe I introduced myself. How do you know my name?"
"I know everything about father. I have been training my whole life to meet him and eventually become Batman. So, I don't need to get some rest, I need to be down there."
Alfred eyed him as the elevator cane to a stop at the first floor. "Master Damian, in time you will learn that this house has rules, rules I enforce. You must follow them."
"Tch."
They climbed the large staircase quickly, Alfred pointed out the large elevator to the side of the elevator. "That is for our wheelchair bound guests, you must never use it."
He was met with silence, but he supposed that's as to be expected. They walked to the bedrooms, Alfred pointing out them along the way. He gestured to the large doors at the end of the hall. "Those lead to master Bruce's living quarters, under no circumstances is anyone allowed in there after the sleepover debacle of 2006."
Damian looked curious at first but them quickly schooled his face when he saw Alfred looking. "And my room?"
Alfred coughed and opened the door on the left, "here it is." It was a basic guest room; the interior matched the rest of the house. "You May personalize it as you see fit." Damian walked into the room and looked around as Bruce's bedroom door opened. Alfred saw Wally struggling to leave the room with the heavy door and cleared his throat. "If that is all master Damian I shall take my leave."
"Yes, that should be all Pennyworth."
Alfred nodded and backed away before rushing towards Wally, "Master Wallace! Why didn't you call me?"
Wally gasped in pain before grinning at Alfred, "no no no! Look! He held out his left leg and vibrated it a little. It wasn't much, but it was enough to show that his speed was coming back to his leg, slowly but surely. "It's coming back Jeeves! Is Bruce back!?"
"Yes, I do believe he is still in the cave."
"No, I'm not, what's going on?"
They turned to see Bruce standing in the hallway without his cowl on. Wally grinned and turned towards him. Bruce's eyes grew wide and he moved forward to catch Wally before he was stopped.
"No! I have to show you something!" Bruce stepped back and waited with bated breath as Wally let go of Alfred. Wally took in deep breath and stepped forward. Bruce forced himself to stay still as Wally made his way over to the larger man. It was shaky, but his strides were true, and his face belied the pain he was in. After about five steps Bruce stepped forward and caught Wally, cradling his face between his hands.
"Wally oh my god that was amazing!"
Wally chuckled, the tears in his eyes showing just how happy he was. "I have my speed back too! Look," he pointed to his leg and vibrated it for Bruce. Bruce grinned and kissed Wally on the lips.
"You're amazing Wallace West."
Wally laughed and hugged Bruce tightly, burying his face in his chest. Someone cleared their throat behind them, making Wally jump.
"Father, who is… this?"
Wally turned around shocked, "uh who the heck are you? Who are you calling father squirt?"
Damian glared at wally, "I am Damian Al-Ghul! Son of-"
Bruce placed his hand on Wally's shoulder, "he's my son Wally. I'm sorry, I just found out tonight."
Wally placed his hand over Bruce's, "who's his mother?"
"Talia."
Wally turned his direction back at Damian, "how old are you Damian?"
"Tch I am 10 years old."
Wally places a hand on his chest dramatically, "oh thank god that was way before I was the flash, I was worried he was like seven or something."
"You're okay with this?"
Wally shrugged, "it's not like you don't have other kids! Welcome to the family squirt!" Wally reached down and ruffled Damian's hair making his tsk again.
"And who are you? Other than a red headed leech draining my father of money?"
Bruce sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose while Wally laughed, "oh kid, that is so not what's happening here. Look you're bitter cause you wanted your mom and sad to be together but that's not going to happen because I'm dating your father." Wally grabbed Bruce's hand. "And its time for you to go to bed Damian. Lights out."
"You do not get to boss around the son of the demon redhead!"
Wally grinned, "but I do. Bed now! Both of you!"
Bruce looked at him surprised before chuckling and shrugging, "you heard him Damian. Get to bed."
"Father!"
"How can you expect to train tomorrow when you're tired Damian? Get some rest and be in the kitchen for breakfast at six."
"Tch, yes father."
Damian turned around and stalked back into his room, slamming the door shut on the three men.
Bruce groaned and rubbed his temples, "what to do, what to do…"
"Calm down Christopher Robin, what you're going to do is take care of him and undo whatever Talia did to make him act…" he gestured to the door, "like that."
"I must agree with master Wally, I do believe he just needs a little more family guidance."
Bruce nodded and suppressed a yawn, "right well now that I have to get up in… "he paused and looked at the clock with a sigh. "Four hours I should get some rest."
Alfred nodded, "yes we can figure everything else out tomorrow. You need to let everyone else know though."
Bruce nodded tiredly, the day finally catching up to him. "I will tomorrow. We'll have a family meeting." With that Alfred nodded and walked down the stairs to his bedroom as Wally and Bruce supported each other to get to their own bed.
