Chapter 20:
Percy sighed, rubbing his eyes as he looked around. The battle hadn't even started yet, but that gave him all the more reason to sleep. He crashed in his bed instantly.
He frowned as he recognised the familiar place. Aunty Em's Garden Emporium. He saw Ethan and Kronos in the corner, and moved closer, careful to keep out of sight.
"So what is your plan now, my lord?"
"How is the battle with Typhon going?"
Ethan paled. "Not well, my lord. Somehow, the blind one has managed to turn the tides for the Olympians, though we still have a day or two before we make Olympus crumble under your might."
Kronos frowned. "Perhaps my Master has underestimated this mortal." He then smirked. "Maybe we will pay the demigods a visit soon while the blind boy is out of the battle."
The scene changed. Percy looked around, seeing Hermes with a pretty-looking woman, who was carrying a baby. Chiron, also looking younger, trotted nearby. She seemed determined about something, handing Hermes the baby and smiling confidently as she walked up to the attic in the Big House.
All was quiet, before a bloodcurdling scream came from the attic. Hermes' eyes widened. "May!" He handed Chiron the baby, and rushed up into the Big House.
Percy woke up with a start, startling again when he saw Thalia, Zoë and Annabeth in his room. Annabeth was once again leaning over him with one arm outstretched, as if she was about to shake him awake. "What is it?"
"Central Park. Hyperion, the titan of Light is attacking." Annabeth noted grimly. Percy paled as he threw on his armour and grabbed Anaklusmos.
"Then what are we waiting for?"
"Percy, the Aphrodite Cabin and the Hephaestus cabins are struggling. We need to split up."
"What about the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel?"
"Lin Chung's spell seems to be holding strong. Any monster that tries to come in is incinerated before they have a chance to react."
Percy nodded, satisfied. "You guys help them. I'm going to Central Park."
Percy's eyes widened as he saw Hyperion, who was killing demigods left and right. No-one was safe from his blade, it seemed. The nature spirits were desperately trying to contain him, but he was still marching forward, almost undeterred by their efforts.
Percy charged him, Riptide meeting Hyperion's blade. The blades met in a strong strike as the heat slowly started to consume Percy. He wiped sweat from his forehead, and squinted away from Hyperion. His brief distraction caused him to be knocked back by Hyperion.
He growled, wanting to put Hyperion's light out. As he thought of it, water doused the titan, making the titan growl in rage. Percy charged him once more, their blades clanging as they met. Percy repeatedly doused the titan's flames, making the titan angrier and angrier by the second.
"Percy!" Grover called to him. The demigod turned, looking down at where the satyr was pointing. A mini hurricane was surrounding him. He smirked, finally realising it, and completely doused Hyperion with water, leaving him spluttering as the satyrs played on their pipes. Roots started to shoot out from the ground, trapping Hyperion.
Percy continued to douse his flames as a tree started growing around Hyperion, trapping him. "NO!" He bellowed. "I AM HYPERION! I AM-" He was cut off as the tree trapped him completely.
"You are a very nice maple tree." Grover finished, as some satyrs collapsed in exhaustion. "Percy!" Percy turned to his satyr friend, who pointed above him.
Blackjack was hovering above him, Annabeth on his back. She slid off the pegasus, sprinting to Percy. "Percy, the Clazmonian sow!" Percy looked up again as a sow flew past him, squeaking angrily.
"Let me guess…Heracles defeated it?"
Annabeth shook her head. "No hero has ever bested it." Percy groaned.
"Great." He hopped on Blackjack. "C'mon buddy."
We have to get close to the bag of pork?
Percy smiled to himself. "Yes. After that, you're done."
You owe me an awful lot of donuts, boss.
"Don't worry. Just get us close and then get out of here." Blackjack nodded. Percy waited as the pegasus neared the sow, before leaping onto the sow's back - no easy feat. He drove Anaklusmos into its neck before leaping off, crashing into the street. Upon seeing a statue, he immediately attempted to activate it.
"Activate Plan 23. Um, objective: defeat Clazmonian sow." The statue nodded, before walking off to activate another statue. Percy let the statues take care of the pig, until the squealing was silenced. He took that as a good sign, quickly hopping aboard Blackjack again.
The campers were now surrounding the Empire State Building. They were battling the monsters desperately, causing Percy to frown in worry. Where was Lin Chung when you needed him? He leapt down from the pegasus and joined in the fray. He moved quickly, slowly noticing the monsters getting the upper hand.
He cursed, looking around and grinning as he found Annabeth in the crowd. He smiled as he pierced a monster and sliced another in half. Everyone froze as they heard a hunting horn. He turned to Thalia, who shook her head. "Not the hunters. We're all here." Suddenly, crowds of centaurs came charging forward.
They carried paint guns, several holding arrows with outrageous things on the end of them. Percy's eyes widened, before he grinned as he caught sight of his mentor among them. Chiron joined them, expression apologetic. "Sorry we were late. Centaurs can bend distances as we ride, but my cousins aren't exactly organised. Where's Lin Chung?"
"Trying to help the Olympians." Chiron nodded as someone else cantered by him.
"Dude! Less talking and more monster killing!"
"Stop!" Kronos bellowed. "Hold your ground! Don't retr-" The last bit was cut off as a frightened hyperborean sat on him, the lord of time disappearing under a large blue rump.
As the monsters finally deserted the area, Chiron smiled wearily. "We should heal our wounded."
