(Alto Mare, Johto)

"Finally! We're here!" said Ash, stepping out of the plane. He stretched his arms and legs, which had fallen asleep due to the ten-hour flight from Couriway Town.

"Wow, Alto Mare is such a beautiful place!" admired Serena, observing the canals and waterways.

"I've never seen a city like this!" wowed Bonnie.

"You get around by riding in gondolas." explained Ash.

"That makes sense." said Limone.

"Just breathing in the positive energy fills me up with happiness." awed Xerneas.

"It's like you can see it." noticed Yveltal.

"I wonder when we'll see you friends, Ash." questioned Mairin.

"Follow me! I know the way!" led Ash.

"Knowing Ash's track record with directions, we'll be lost in ten minutes." whispered Volcanion to Alain, who snickered. The group chose to trust Ash's poor sense of direction and followed him down the street, leading into town.

As the group toured the city, Ash pointed out the Alto Mare Museum. "The Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare is located in there."

"Defense Mechanism?" questioned Clemont, now interested due the talk of a machine.

"Should Alto Mare ever be in danger, the citizens would bring the Soul Dew to power the device to protect the city. But that power in the wrong hands leads to nothing good. The last time I was here, two girls named Annie and Oakley stole the Soul Dew along with my friend Latios, and nearly destroyed the Soul Dew along with the rest of Alto Mare. But by transferring some of their life essence into the Soul Dew, Latios and his twin sister Latias saved the Soul Dew, and saved the town. The town has always revered Latios and Latias as the Guardian Protectors of the city, so they're very famous." explained Ash.

"Latias and Latios are two of the friends you were talking about, right?" asked Bonnie. "The Legendary Pokemon?"

"Right. Unfortunately, we might have trouble finding them in the crowd." worried Ash.

"What do you mean?" inquired Alain.

"The Eon Duo can mask their appearances as humans, just like Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde and Volcanion. I know who Latias likes to appear as, but not Latios. But I do think that they'd be together. They're practically inseparable those two." said Ash.

"So Ash, could you explain the Soul Dew to me, since I'm here to study it?" asked Alain.

"I'll explain, if you don't mind." intruded Volcanion. Everyone turned to him. "The Soul Dew is the physical manifestation of the original Latios's spirit, the father of the twins Latios and Latias. When Latios died to protect the city from evil centuries ago, he transformed his spirit into a blue gem called the Soul Dew. It is that orb that now power's the city's water, and should it be removed, all the water would leave the city."

"And when Latios died, his children were left as orphans." finished Ash somberly.

"That's so sad." sadly said Serena.

"It brings a tear to my heart." mourned Bonnie.

"Well, why don't we head to Lorenzo's gondola rental shop?" suggested Ash. "It's not too far from here, so we might as well pay them a visit.

"Sure. It'd be cool to meet a gondola maker!" rejoiced Mairin. So the group walked on, leaving the Museum behind, and headed for Lorenzo's. After a few minutes of trotting, the group of eleven had arrived outside the Gondola Rental Supply.

"Here we are!" Ash said, reaching out the knock on the door. "Hello? Lorenzo? Bianca? It's Ash of Pallet Town!" Suddenly the door opened and slammed into Ash's nose. Ash was knocked to the ground, where he wallowed in the pain of his throbbing nose. "Ow, that hurt."

"You okay?" asked Limone, concerned.

"Oh goodness, Ash!" said a wheezy voice. Everyone looked at the door, where an old man stood. His white hair matched well with his red dress shirt and blue overalls. "We weren't expecting you until later!"

"You knew I was coming?" inquired Ash.

"The siblings sensed that you were coming, and they told Bianca and I." explained Lorenzo. "Sorry about your nose. Here my boy, let me help you up." He reached out his hand to Ash, who gratefully accepted it, and stood up, brushing some brick-stone dust off his blue jacket. "My boy you've gotten older!"

"Thanks for noticing!" replied Ash.

"Who are all of your friends here?" asked Lorenzo.

"Lorenzo, this is Serena of Vaniville Town." introduced Ash. Serena bowed to Lorenzo.

"Hello! It's so nice to meet you!" exclaimed Serena.

"Nice to meet you as well!" replied Lorenzo.

"This is Clemont and his younger sister Bonnie, and their father Limone." continued Ash.

"So nice to meet you!" said Bonnie.

"It is an honor." said Clemont.

"Hello there." added Limone.

"Mairin and Alain who took us here with them." said Ash. Alain and Mairin both shook hands with Lorenzo. "Then this is V, X, Y, and Z."

"Strange names you four have." admitted Lorenzo.

"It's alright good sir." shook off Xerneas.

"So Lorenzo, where's Bianca?" asked Ash.

"Oh, she's over at the garden. I sent her to check to see if everything was normal there." replied Lorenzo.

"The special garden?" specified Ash.

"Yes, the one where you met the twins." finished the gondola maker.

"The special garden?" inquired Serena.

"Follow me." motioned Lorenzo, leading the gang down an alley...then another...then another. At this point, Ash began to recognize these alleyways that led to the garden. Finally, the group stopped at a corner which was hidden by a patch of shade.

"Why are we stopping?" asked Mairin.

"Because we're here." replied Ash.

"There's no garden here." retorted Bonnie.

"Follow me." instructed Ash. He walked into the corner which was hidden by the shade...wait...the group was in awe as he walked INTO the corner, which rippled like a mirage. Ash disappeared into the mirage to everyone but Lorenzo's disbelief.

"Where...did...he go?" stammered Serena.

"You can't walk through walls!" protested Clemont. "It's physically impossible!"

"That's because it's NOT a wall." corrected Lorenzo. "It's a psychic illusion created to make it seem like a wall." With that, he followed Ash into the mirage, the group, not wanting to be left behind, promptly followed him.

After what seemed like an eternity of darkness, the group arrived in a small garden. The garden was decorated with trees and bushes, as well as many flowers, and several weird metal machines. Clemont observed one of them.

"Interesting. This doohickey appears to rotate with the direction of the wind, am I correct?" analyzed Clemont.

"Correct, son." replied Lorenzo.

"Why would you need them?" asked Mairin. "The wind doesn't blow in here."

"It's for-" started Lorenzo, but was cut off when he saw three figures approaching. "Ah, here they are. The middle figure was a girl around Serena's height with a wing-like hairstyle, a white beret, with a green dress shirt over a white blouse. The two on her left and right were very strange in appearance. The guy on her left had blue hair with dozens of white streaks. He wore a grey jacket over top of a blue shirt which was decorated with a red delta symbol. The jacket had two strips of fabric hanging loose on the back, similar to wings, and he wore blue jeans with red shoes to match his crimson eyes. The girl on Bianca's right was very similar to the guy, but color-exchanged. She had red hair with pink streaks with two long tufts extended out of the back, a red dress with white leggings to match her white shoes decorated with red dots. Her eyes were sunflower yellow, and she wore a blue delta necklace around her neck.

"Ash!" shouted the girl in the middle. "It's been so long!"

"Bianca!" replied Ash. "Way too long! How are you?"

"Great! Working hard to become a painter." said Bianca. "What about you? Working hard to become a Pokemon Master?"

"Of course!" said Ash, pulling out his Kalos Badge Case and displaying his seven Kalos badges. "Seven badges from Kalos, one to go!"

"Good job! Who are your friends?" asked Bianca.

"Bianca, meet Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Limone, Alain, Mairin, V, X, Y, and Z." introduced Ash one after another.

"Wow. I remember when it was just you and your friends Misty and Brock." reminisced Bianca.

"Yeah...those were the days." remembered Ash. "Your friends...they wouldn't be-"

"Of course it's us, Ash." replied the guy on Bianca's left.

"It's really amazing to see you in person and not on Lorenzo's television!" squealed the girl on Bianca's right.

"Wait Ash, do you know these two?" asked Alain.

"Of course! Everyone, meet Latios and Latias!" announced Ash.

"WHAT?!" shouted the group minus the four legendary Pokemon in the back and Limone.

"I'm not surprised. Remember that all the legendary Pokemon we've encountered in Kalos have human forms." said Limone.

"That IS true…" admitted Serena, still in awe of the legendary dragon duo.

"It's so nice to meet all of you." bowed Latios. "I'm Latios, and this is my sister Latias."

"Hi there!" said Latias bubbly.

"So my friend, what brings you to our quaint town?" asked Latios.

"Well we came here so Alain and Mairin could study the connection of the Soul Dew to the mysterious Mega Evolution, and I wanted to personally give the two of you something." said Ash to the Eon Duo.

"What would that be?" inquired Latias. She watched as Ash reached into his pocket and pulled out two small crystal spheres. Latios gasped in recognition of the items.

"Are those...Latiosite and Latiasite?" stammered Latios.

"Yep. You see, over in the Hoenn Region, I traveled to this place called Southern Island in the far south, and discovered these two stones next to a plaque with the inscription, 'Those whose memories fade seek to carve them in their hearts...All dreams are but another reality...Never forget.' I didn't understand what they were at the time, but after learning about Mega Evolution, I finally understood." said Ash.

"Southern Island is where our father used to live before he came here to Alto Mare. He carved that inscription with his psychic powers." said Latios with closed eyes.

"I wanted to give them to the two of you as a symbol of our friendship." said Ash, giving the stones to the psychic dragons, who took them, stared at them, then smiled. Latias took her's and placed in one of the delta earrings, so now the triangle contained the stone in the middle. Latios placed his on a cord from his pocket and put it around his neck, so it was now a necklace.

"That's a good look on the two of you." admired Serena.

"Why thank you." cheerfully replied Latios.

"Why don't we all get something to eat?" suggested Lorenzo. "We can all come back to my house and enjoy some home-cooked delicacies!"

"Sweetness!" overjoyed Bonnie. "I always love home-cooked food!"

"Bonnie, where are your manners?" chastised Limone.

"Sorry Daddy." shrugged Bonnie.

"Shall we head off?" asked Lorenzo.

"Actually, I wanted to know some more about the Soul Dew, is that alright?" asked Alain. "I came here to uncover the connection between it and the Kalos' Mega Evolution myths."

"Ah...those legends." mused Latios. "I'll tell you all about it."

"You see, when our father died, the energy that he released when he turned himself into the Soul Dew…" explained Latias.

"Part of it melded with the energy of the legendary Kalos Pokemon Xerneas. These two energies resonated with one another…" continued Latios.

"Created special stones that contained mutated strains of Pokemon DNA…" added Latias.

"That when given to that Pokemon and connected with the heart of their closest companion, caused Mega Evolution to come into existence." finished Latios.

"I remember that day." reminisced Xerneas. "Your father's life energy was what allowed me to create the Mega Stones so highly sought after today. It forever changed the world."

"It is said that the first Pokemon to ever Mega Evolve was a Lucario." said Yveltal.

"And my Lucario was given to me by the trainer whose ancestor was the first person ever to use Mega Evolution." said Ash.

"That would be the Shalour City Gym Leader Korrina, am I correct?" asked Zygarde.

"Right. She had two Lucario, and she gave Ash the one that recognized his powerful aura." explained Clemont.

"It's always been said that Lucario are more in tune with aura than any other Pokemon known." said Latios. "That may explain why Ash's Lucario noticed Ash in the first place."

"Wow. I'm sure Professor Sycamore will be thrilled to hear about this new information." awed Mairin. "Am I right, Alain?"

"Absolutely." confirmed Alain.

Meanwhile, two women had been eavesdropping on their conversation, and growled at the sight of Ash.

"Just great." muttered the shorter one, who had silver hair. "We break out of prison to exert our revenge on Latios and Latias, and find that the annoying brat who interfered with us last time is here, along with ten other people."

"Oh relax Oakley." shrugged the other girl, who had sunflower yellow hair. "It can't be THAT hard to capture those Pokemon and deliver them to Giovanni."

"Be quiet Annie!" seethed Oakley. "They could hear you! This time, we're not going to jinx ourselves with the Defense Mechanism, we're going straight for the capture."

"Sourpuss." grumbled Annie, pulling out a makeup kit and a mirror, and began dabbing her face with toner. "We'll accomplish our mission, don't you worry."

(Lorenzo's House)

"This is the best paella I've ever eaten!" raved Mairin. 'Five stars to be sure!"

"It's very good, grandfather." praised Bianca.

"Uh...Ash...you might want to slow down." said Latios, a little frightened at just how fast Ash was scarfing down his paella. "No one's going to steal it from you, you know."

"I know!" said Ash. "But it's SO good." With that he reached out for a second helping, but accidentally knocked the spoon of the table. Lorenzo picked it up, and retrieved a clean one from his cabinet.

"You should be a little more careful, Ash." chastised Serena.

"Yeah, sorry." sweat dropped Ash. "So Latios and Latias, I don't know what kind of moves you can use. I've seen the two of you use Protect when I came here last, but that was so long ago, things might have changed."

"Well, I can use Dragon Pulse, Luster Purge, Ice Beam, and Energy Ball." said Latios.

"And I can do Dragon Pulse as well, along with Mist Ball, Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball." added Latias, winking at Ash, which Serena took notice of, and raised an eyebrow, but quickly stopped when Latias looked at her. "What's up Serena? You okay?"

"Me?" said Serena nervously. "Oh I'm fine! Never better! Haha!" Everyone at the table stared at her for a couple seconds. "What?"

"Nothing." teased Latios, recognizing what was going on.

"Oh my gosh this is such good paella." said Alain, finishing his fourth helping.

"Geez Alain. You have more of a bottomless pit than Ash does!" complained Mairin.

"Ha ha, very funny." joked Alain, taking a drink of his lemonade. "I think I'm gonna turn in for the night. Is that okay?"

"Sure. I can show all the guys where they can put their stuff." said Lorenzo, motioning down the hall. Ash, Alain, Clemont, Limone, and the four legendary Pokemon followed him.

"And all the girls can put their stuff away too." added Bianca, heading upstairs, with Serena, Bonnie, and Mairin following.

"Why don't we stay here tonight, sis'?" suggested Latios.

"Great idea! Then we can all go out together in the morning!" agreed Latias.

(That Night)

Ash woke up from a great dream that he had to get a drink of water. As he went into the kitchen, he heard footsteps on the roof. Curious, and a little concerned, Ash grabbed his Mega Ring, and went outside. Adjusting his red and white tank top, he climbed onto the roof, when he heard voices.

"Alright Annie, it's time." said a prickly female voice.

"Let's do it Oakley." said the other girl, Annie.

'Annie and Oakley?!' thought Ash. 'I thought they were in prison! But why are they...oh no! Latios and Latias!' Ash then slid down the roof, and ran back into the house, flicking on all of the lights as he passed. He ran into Latios and Latias' room, and shook awake Latios.

"Ugh. What is it Ash?" mumbled Latios drowsily.

"Hide now! It's them! Annie and Oakley!" hurried Ash.

"What?!" whispered Latios in surprise. "I thought those imbeciles were locked away where they belong!"

"They must have broken out! Take Latias and hide!" rushed Ash. "Get everyone else up too, I'm gonna need their help. These two won't go down without a fight!"

"Right! Come on sis'! We've gotta get moving!" said Latios, with Latias, now awake, nodding in agreement. The two of them hurried out the room.

Ash sighed, and took out a Pokeball. "Lucario, come on out!" he whispered, releasing his jackal-like Pokemon, who grunted silently. The two of them hid in the corner, and waited quietly. After about thirty seconds, the window was opened from the outside, and two figures jumped inside.

"They're not here!" whispered Annie.

"They have to be." said Oakley, scanning the room. The two of them reached the door, and were about to open it, when Ash made his move.

"Lucario, use Aura Sphere!" shouted Ash. Annie and Oakley whirled around in surprise as Lucario threw a cyan ball of pure focused aura. The two girls dodged it as the Aura Sphere smashed through the door, blasted it off of it's hinges.

"Oh great, the brat boy." complained Oakley.

"Oh great, the idiot women of Team Rocket." mimicked Ash.

"How dare you say that to a lady!" raged Annie.

"Believe me, you're no ladies! Lucario use-" started Ash.

"Espeon, let's go!" cried Annie.

"Ariados, you too!" added Oakley. Out of Annie's Pokeball came a lavender feline with two tails and a red ruby on her forehead. Oakley's Pokeball released a spider with four legs, a white horn, and an angry face on his back.

"Espeon use Swift!" said Annie. Espeon's mouth opened as a flurry of golden stars battered Lucario.

"Ariados use Night Shade!" added Oakley! Ariados' horn glowed ghostly gray as a black beam outlined in purple blasted Lucario into Ash, smashing them through the wall, and onto the ground below. Ash struggled to get up as the two women jumped down.

"This is too easy. Now back off!" raged Oakley, Ariados and Espeon advancing. Just then a Shadow Ball slammed into Espeon, instantly knocking the Psychic-cat out.

"Espeon, no!" protested Annie. "Who did that?" Just then, an Ice Beam appeared out of nowhere, freezing Ariados in a thick block of ice, rendering the bug immobile.

"What the? Ariados no!" screamed Oakley, looking behind Ash to see the culprit. Just then two figures swooped out of the sky, blowing the two women back. The two figures descended: Latios and Latias in Pokemon form. Just then, the rest of Ash's friends appeared from the house, and surrounded Annie and Oakley.

"You bad people! Why have you come back here?" screamed Bianca, lifting a Pokeball. "Don't answer that! Smeargle let's go!" Released from Bianca's Pokeball was a beagle-like Pokemon standing on two feet, with it's tail dripping with green paint at the end.

"A Smeargle? How cool! The perfect Pokemon for you!" admired Ash.

"Delphox, come on out!" said Serena, releasing her fully-evolved starter Pokemon.

"Now Heliolisk, let's go!" said Clemont, bringing out his strongest Pokemon.

"Kangaskhan! You too!" added Bonnie, sending out her Pokemon.

"Honchkrow take to the skies!" shouted Limone. His Honchkrow shot of the Pokeball, and hovered above the two women, glaring angrily.

"Alakaz! Do it!" shouted Mairin, bringing out her Psi Pokemon.

"Charizard! Now!" yelled Alain, calling out his number one partner.

"Lucario, get back in there!" said Ash to his Pokemon, who flipped over him, and took a fighting stance.

"You're outnumbered ladies!" shouted Xerneas.

"Give up!" raged Yveltal.

"Or face our combined wrath!" finished Zygarde.

"You're gonna get really messed up if you do!" exploded Volcanion, his face turning volcano red.

"Not on your life!" countered Oakley, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a small device. She chucked the device at Latias, and it extended into a net, trapping her, and then shocking her with electricity.

"My sister!" telepathically shouted Latios, trying to rip apart the net with his claws. To his horror, the more he tried, the harder Latias would get shocked.

"HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO MY SISTER! YOU'RE GONNA PAY FOR THAT! Ash, let's do this!" exploded Latios, motioning towards his Latiosite.

"I'm with ya'! Time to feel the burn of the strongest power in the universe! Latios, let's do it!" shouted Ash, smacking his Mega Ring. Orange energy beams shot from the Key Stone, which connected with blueish-purple energy beams from Latios's Mega Stones. The two energies connected in the middle, and glowed whiter than a quasar. Latios was engulfed in a purple light as his form began to change. Two spiked fur tufts extended from Latios's cheeks, sticking out like curved needles. His wings doubled in length as they turned from blue to purple. A white triangle appeared on his forehead, and the red delta on his chest turned white, and moved to his left wing. Mega Latios shot out of the light, did a 360 in midair at Mach 10 speed, and then made a perfect stop level with Ash.

"Whoa. They're toast." muttered Bonnie.

"You two will never harm any of my friends! Not now, and not ever! Mega Latios, use Dragon Pulse!" roared Ash. Mega Latios opened his mouth as red-blue-purple orb came into existence, growing in power and size.

"Open wide, punks!" roared Mega Latios as the orb launched a beam that morphed into a red-blue-purple dragon that chomped its glowing fangs down on Annie and Oakley, causing a big explosion.

"Use Luster Purge!" continued Ash. Mega Latios's body shone like a star as multiple beams of light shot down from the sky, causing several explosions around Annie and Oakley, keeping them in place.

"Kangaskhan, Power-Up Punch, now!" said Bonnie. Kangaskhan's right fist glowed as she punched Oakley into Annie, knocking both women down to the ground.

"Delphox, trap them inside a Light Screen!" called Serena. Delphox's stick wand glowed gold as a glowing box appeared around the two women, trapping them inside.

"I can't get out!" whined Annie.

"Alright Alakaz use Grass Knot!" finished Mairin. Alakaz's spoons glowed as multiple grass snares wrapped themselves around Annie and Oakley, tying the two women together uncomfortably.

"Smeargle, let's use Spore!" cried Bianca. Smeargle's painted tail released several green spores that put the two bad-girls to sleep, leaving them completely defeated.

"You two are going back where you belong." menaced Ash, which wasn't very menacing since the two evil-doers were asleep and tied up. "Enjoy prison."

"Serves them right. No one messes with my sister." growled Latios as he de-Mega Evolved, and went back to his human form. "Alright sis', let's get you out of that net." The whole group worked together to pry the net off of the ensnared Legendary Dragoness. As the last grappling hook came undone, Latias sighed and hugged her brother tightly, who embraced his sister.

"I'm glad that that's over." breathed Lorenzo.

"You can say that again." assured Limone.

"I promise you that as long I'm here, nothing will happen to you ever again sis'." said Latios to his crying sister softly.

"That goes for me too." added Ash strongly. Latias could be seen blushing after that statement.

(Next Morning)

The group of fifteen sat in Lorenzo's kitchen the next morning, drinking orange juice and eating a wide variety of Alto Mare's delicacies, savoring every bite, though Latios made sure to sit far away from Ash and Alain, who were scarfing down everything in sight. Latias giggled at her brother's insecurity.

"So what should we do today now that those two awful women have been arrested?" asked Bonnie.

"Well, I could show you the ancient ruins on the island nearby." suggested Lorenzo.

"There are ruins here?" asked Mairin.

"It's a temple dedicated to our father from the people centuries ago." informed Latios. "Latias and I make regular visits there to see our father's shrine and ward off vandals."

"Sounds like a good idea! I'd like to pay respects to the Pokemon who was the father of two of greatest friends." agreed Ash.

"Aww." blushed Latias. "You're too kind."

"It seems like a cool place." added Clemont.

"And ruins are always fascinating." chimed in Limone.

"So that settles it!" concluded Serena. "Let's go to the ruins!" So after the group finished their breakfast, they all followed Bianca and Lorenzo to Lorenzo's shop, where they borrowed one of Lorenzo's largest gondolas.

"Seeing as its not a long trip, I thought we'd take the gondolas so you all could see the Water-type Pokemon." suggested Lorenzo, lifting a paddle.

"Great idea! I love seeing new Pokemon!" said Bonnie, touching the water. Just then, a massive Pokemon leapt from the water, and back in. "Whoa, what was that?

"That was a Wailord!" excited Ash. "You don't seem them everyday!" Just then a Lanturn playfully butted the side of the gondola. "Wow! A Lanturn!" The Lanturn laughed, and dove back in, but not before spraying Clemont with a Water Gun.

Just then, a gigantic Pokemon rose out of the sea, even bigger than the Wailord. It was a blue whale-like Pokemon with lighted blue markings all over it. It had two gigantic dorsal fins, as well as a giant four-reefed tail, as well as the Alpha symbol on its fins. The strangest thing was that Ash recognized it, but this one had a much different appearance than the one he had seen before.

"What...was that?" stammered Serena in awe.

"That, was a Kyogre...I think. But I've never seen one like that before." said Ash slowly. "Usually those blue markings are red, but...they're blue now…I wonder why that is...maybe we'll find out in the coming months."

"Here we are, the Eon Ruins!" announced Lorenzo, docking the gondola at a wooden harbor. As the group stepped off, they noticed a stone Latios the size of a street lamp watching them in a rocky trance. Though it was not real, it gave the group the shivers. As they stepped through two stone pillars decorated with the delta symbol, they saw a marble pedestal where a mirror in the shape of a delta rested.

"This, is the Eon Mirror." said Latias. "Our father crafted it himself with his claws."

"There is a legend that the mirror will reveal a special power when a person with a noble and pure heart touches it...but we don't think it's true." continued Latios.

"Well maybe the right person just hasn't come yet." said Alain. "Why don't we all touch it?"

"Why not." said Lorenzo. "I know it's not Bianca or I since we've tried in the past."

"I'll go first." said Mairin. To her disappointment, when she touched the mirror, nothing happened. "Dang it…"

Clemont went next, but just like Mairin, nothing happened. Bonnie and Serena tried after him, but nothing happened for either of them as well. Limone and Alain couldn't get anything to happen either. Finally, it was Ash's turn. As he approached the dais, he thought he heard a voice inside his head saying, I await you. As he reached to touch the glass, a flash of light blinded him, and an invisible force yanked him back to the bottom of the steps. Ash grunted in pain as he hit the ground, as he felt a presence shimmer into existence in front of them. Latios and Latias gasped in shock.

"I...can't...believe it." stammered Latias.

"Father…" finished Latios. The father Latios smiled at his children, his transparent form flickering as he adjusted his claws and green wings.

"Hello my son and daughter. Look at how much you've grown. Your mother would be so proud…" telepathed Latios.

"Daddy...I've missed you!" teared up Latias, running to her father, but she passed right through his transparent form.

"How is it possible?" wondered Alain. Mairin stood there in utter shock and disbelief.

"So these are your friends. What a nice group you have my children." spoke Latios. "For so long I have slept, awaiting your friend to visit the ruins, and now...I am awake."

"You...were...waiting for me?" asked Ash uncertainly.

"Of course my boy, the legend did say that the one with a noble and pure heart will unlock the secret of my mirror, and so you have. Now that I am awake, I can protect Alto Mare by separating myself from the Soul Dew. I will only be able to keep my spiritual form, but I'll still be able to interact with everyone." explained Latios.

"You will?" said Latias, believing it to good to be true.

"Of course my daughter. Now, I want you and your brother to see the world, and leave protecting Alto Mare to me. Not to be prideful, but despite my age, I am much more powerful than the two of you combined." said the father Latios.

"Sheesh, thanks Dad." muttered Latios.

"My son, you and sister travel the world with Ash, and see new things. No longer will you have to be confined to Alto Mare. See the world, experience new things, eat new foods, drink different beverages, and have fun." said the father Latios.

"Will be allowed to come visit you, Bianca and Lorenzo?" inquired Latias.

"Absolutely, my little girl. But I will always be watching over the two of you, keeping an eye on your progress as you travel." concluded the father Latios. "Now, I will be heading to Alto Mare, to resume my mission after my centuries of absence. I will see the two of you soon enough. Be safe, and I love you." With that, the father Latios disappeared into air, and the group watched as his spiritual projection raced to Alto Mare, to fulfill his promise to his children.

"You know what, sis'?" said Latios.

"What bro'?" asked Latias.

"A new era is dawning on us, and the rest of the world." simply stated Latios, as he watched the sun sparkle over the blue waves hitting the island, the spray creating a faint rainbow in the summer light.

"You know what...I think you're right Latios." agreed Ash, walking out of the ruins. "I agree completely."

Next Time. Chapter 22: Mega Devolution! Kyogre vs Groudon!

A.N. I changed the plot for the next chapter. It was originally going to be Ash vs. Wulfric, but new info about Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby came out a few days after the first time I posted this chapter, so I'm re-uploading it to let you all know. Now, it's going to be about some completely ifferent. What is it? Read on!
