Chapter 18

Treaty

Snow fell from the sky, giving the ground a thin cover of white frost that glittered in the sun. It was the middle of winter, so the coldness was at it's peak. The snow just came back, but it could be foretold that it would only grow heavier in time.

"Yori-chan, your hands are cold." Yuki spoke, gripping her best friend's hands in her own.

"I was waiting outside for some who got lost." Yori muttered, giving Yuki a look.

Yuki, who had gone to help find the lost little boy's mother and lost time with Kaname because she let Yori go alone, bowed in apology. "I'm sorry."

Kaien who watched in the distance, noticed himself how cold it was tonight as well. It was already that time of year. Yuki tilted her head up, watching as the snow fell from the grey sky. Her earliest memories were always brought back by the frozen rain, reminding her of the color of blood and how Kaname saved her life. A boy with a pretty face extending his blood stained hand towards her, and taking it herself.

Sometimes Yuki had no clue what she was truly doing with Kaname Kuran.

In another part of Cross Academy, Amu sat in a room with Kyou and Yagari bored as they went on and on. Zero and Ikuto should have been here a while ago, but of course those two ran late. Huffing Amu gave the two mentors a look.

"All we need is a plan." Amu huffed. "Kyou, making a plan where we all become ninjas isn't going to help anyone. Yagari, you bicker like an old man."

"Respect your elders Amu!" Kyou scolded.

"He called you old too, Yagari. Are you going to take that from him?" Amu asked, smirk lifting on her lips.

Yagari scowled at Kyou, who glared at Amu. "No, you called him old."

"I really didn't though." Amu antagonized, grinning to irritate Kyou further. "You just always have to open that big mouth of yours."

"And you don't know how to keep yours closed." Kyou quipped back, now earning a scowl from the pinkeye.

"Will you two just shut the hell up already?" Yagari barked, getting the two too finally quiet down. "Where the hell are Zero and that boy Ikuto?

Amu shrugged, "I told them the time and place. Oh don't give me that look. They aren't my responsibility 24/7."

"But it's your boyfriend and friend." Kyou remarked.

"Yeah, so? Still not my responsibility all the time." Amu sassed.

"Damn, cold hearted." Kyou whistled, earning a smack. "Hey watch it Amu!"

Yagari sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Then it's just going to be you two for now and you rely the information later."

Amu nodded. "So how is this going to play out?"

Yagari looked into Amu's eyes, "You can't give them what they want. They want control and you want peace, but I think you need to figure out what kind of peace you want."

"Isn't peace just peace?" Kyou questioned, confused.

"No stupid." Amu huffed. "Yagari wants me to really think what I want. What kind of peace do I want. Peace for myself? Or peace to protect those I care for. Right Yagari?"

Yagari nodded. "Exactly, but it will be tricky to obtain it. If this all goes wrong, you also need to know how to get the hell out of there, so make sure you keep an eye on all exits."

"Understood. Now can we go?"

The next day in class, Yuki was silent. It was unusual to see her in such a state, but Yuki gave off the vibe that she needed time to think things over. Still some people were able to just ignore that vibe.

"Hey, Cross-san." One of the Day Class girls called, gaining Yuki's attention from the window. "Tomorrow is the first day of break, are you traveling anywhere?"

"Um, I don't have anything planned." Yuki scratched her head knowing very well she never left the Academy for breaks. This was her home after all.

The girls suddenly perked up, "So you're going to stay at school for the whole break?"

"Would you mind setting up cameras in the Moon Dorm?" As if feeling the atmosphere drop, the girl looked over her shoulder and paled. "Just kidding."

"Good morning Zero, it's already past noon." Yuki smiled awkwardly.

"Yuki, come with me." Zero muttered, ignoring the other two Day Class females.

Zero took off before Yuki could agree, forcing YUki to follow him down the school's hallway. "Zero, where are you going? Where's Amu?"

"Having the last check around before the long vacation. The Night Class is going to come out all at once so I have to make sure that there isn't any humans there. We have to make sure that all the Night Class leaves the grounds as well." Zero explained before adding. "Amu is already there with the others, saying this is a good training lesson."

Yuki sweat dropped. "I forgot all about that."

Amu sighed in irritation with Aidou, where the others merely watched them in amusement. The damn blonde vampire was a nervous wreck, and where Amu wanted to laugh she couldn't because he would make some smart ass remark to her. So Amu did the next best thing, watch as Aidou just fell apart with every step he took.

"You don't have to worry about it, Kaname is already planning on staying at your mansion over break. I plan on doing the same along with a few others." Ichijo informed Aidou.

"I'm not worried!" Aidou exclaimed.

"Just a stuttering mess." Amu quipped, earning an elbow in the side by Kyou. "Hey, watch it!"

"Keep your mouth shut pinkie." Kyou stuck his tongue out.

Amu's cheeks turned red, "Don't call me that baka!"

"You both are children." Utau muttered. "Shut up already and just walk."

Both Amu and Kyou rolled their eyes at Utau. Utau was always the one to scold them to stop arguing when Yagari or Zero weren't around, sometimes Ikuto would intervene but he found the duo amusing with their pointless arguments. In all honesty, it was strange how everything was now.

How close they all were after find out Amu's secret. How Ikuto was perfectly okay now and accepted that the girl he once loved was now with another man. How Utau was barely getting over Kukai, who in the end was a traitor and a liar- even a murderer. Utau wasn't sure if she would really be okay with that, but that was something no one really asked her, not like she would tell the truth anyway. How the world had dark things, like vampires, hunters and witches. Still, somehow- everything was working it's way out.

Rima looked at Shiki from under their umbrella. "What about you Shiki? Are you going to go?" Rima asked, referring to staying at Aidou's house.

Shiki sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Even if I do go I would have to leave early because of my job. Even if it would be fun to go. My parents are saying that I should come visit them, so this year I'm going home."

"I see." Rima said, glancing at her companion.

"Zero!" Yuki's yell cut through the air, gaining the attention of everyone.

Zero was walking at his normal quick pace and Yuki was trying to catch up. Her forehead had a thin layer of sweat as she panted, causing some smiles to go around. Ichijo smiled at the two warmly.

"You always work hard, I hope you two, and Amu-chan can relax while we are gone. Please take care." Ichijo looked to the side as Kaname approached the group. "Kaname, did you lock the doors?"

"Ichijo, I can do that much by myself." Kaname retorted, then handed Yuki an envelope. "Here you go Ms. Guardian, the key to the Moon Dorm."

Yuki's cheeks turned a light pink, but as Kaname continued to speak she turned flustered. "I know what you said to me wasn't a lie, so don't worry about it."

Kaname patted Yuki's head as he previously referred when he asked Yuki to become a vampire and live by his side, to her answer of a yes. Yuki had indeed agreed to it in that moment, and wished she kept it to herself.

"Kaname, I know you don't want to leave but."

Kaname cut off Ichijo, "You can wait in the car with everyone else." Then Kaname looked at Yuki. "Yuki, can you leave us for a moment too? Amu, please come over here."

Amu gave a curious look to Yuki, curious as to what happened between her and Kaname. Amu said nothing as Kaname promised to be nice to Zero and Yuki giving him a smile. "Alright then, please take care Kaname-sempai." Bowing, Yuki backed up and went with Ikuto and the others, who stood off to the side in the distance just watching.

"Can I ask why you called me over?" Amu questioned, taking her spot besides Zero as she made eye contact with Kaname.

"Amu-san, Kiryu-Kun, I only want to tell you one thing. You both have to make sure to watch over Yuki for me." Kaname says, earning a look from the short pinkette.

"You don't even have to tell us that Kaname." Amu reprimanded. "We'd protect her without you telling us too."

Kaname smiled at Amu, "Yes, I know. That's all then."

Kaname walked off towards Cross Academy's entrance, leaving with the rest of the Night Class. For a moment it was silent, then the moment was shattered as Kaien came dashing out of the main building, waving his arms around and yelling like a madman.

"We have a problem!" Kaien yelled his information. "Kurenai Maria-chan has awoke!"

Amu's eyes widen in surprise as Zero's fists clenched. Yuki was already running towards the infirmary, and in the next second so was Zero. Amu could only sigh. Utau noticed Amu lingering back as Kaien followed the other two with quick movements.

"Aren't you going to go see her?" Utau asks softly.

Amu shrugged, "I don't really know her. Last time she had Shizuka inside her."

"That doesn't mean you shouldn't go see her to see if she'd okay." Utau stated rationally. "After all, it wasn't even Maria you meet or talked to was it? It was that other woman."

At the sudden remembrance of Shizuka, Amu felt guilt. She remembered her time with the pure blood's spirit that lingered around in her room and kept Amu company in one of her darkest moments. The craziest pure blood that killed Zero's parents was the one who also gave her the motivation to step outside her door and to gather herself. Amu knew, despite Shizuka's horrible past, that the pureblood had a heart that was broken and experienced things far worse, but when she left she silently asked for one thing.

Reassurance that Maria would be okay, and protected. Amu sighed, she owed the pure blood nothing but still felt pity. That was how Amu found herself entering the infirmary, watching as the silver haired female stood up and rushed at Zero with open arms, engulfing him in a hug.

"Ichiru-san!" Maria yelled joyfully, before looking back at Kaien accusingly. "You lied chairman! He's right here!"

"Um, no that's.." Kaien tailed off as Yuki sweat dropped.

"Ichiru-san, that person is so mean." Maria pouted like a child despite her teenage appearance, but then looked up at Zero. "He told me that Shizuka-sama is dead, wait- you aren't, are you Zero-kun?"

The devastation in Maria's voice broke Amu's heart. Waking up and finding out your family member is dead and that the only person that was there was now gone. Amu really pitied the girl now. Yuki moved to grab Maria when she slumped a little, moving her to sit in the infirmary bed.

"Shizuka-sama met with you then she really did die." Maria muttered out, head tilted to look at the floor. "Shizuka-sama came to me with Ichiru-san. She asked me if she could borrow my body. Shizuka-sama said that she would in return make my weak, sickly body stronger. I'm blood related to Shizuka-sama, and now she's gone."

"After that man left Shizuka-sama, she never wanted anyone's love." Maria continued to speak. "Zero-kun's parents were ordered to kill the man Shizuka-sama loved. He was the first man that ever loved her in that way. When she lost him she was filled with so much sorrow and anger that-."

Zero wasn't looking at Maria, or anyone. He was silent as he too looked at the floor. Suddenly Maria was up and grabbing Zero's arm. "Zero-kun! Even if you killed Shizuka-sama I don't think she regretted doing anything."

Kaien was beside Maria in an instant, patting her back as she coughed. "Now, now, calm down Maria-chan. You can't stress your body. You just woke up."

"I loved her even if I didn't express it." Amu glanced to her side, feeling fingers trickle across her back and seeing white hair vanishing. Shizuka would always be by Maria's side in her own way.

"Maria-san." Yuki called, only to be pulled away by Kaien.

"Come here Yuki, Zero, and Amu." Kaien said. "Let's let her rest."

"Zero-kun." Maria called, causing both Zero and Amu to stop. Zero had pulled Amu to stop with him. "I want to tell you the truth."

"What?" Zero asked, looked at Maria with his full attention now.

"That day that the Kiryu's were ordered to hunt that man, they were ordered by someone else to do so. Someone who did not like the idea of Shizuka-sama loving a vampire that was a human. When Shizuka-sama found out about this mysterious figure, she put all her effort into trying to find it and kill it." Maria's facial expression turned worried. "That person is a Pure Blood, and your real enemy I think."

"The man with one red eye and another blue." Amu muttered, the face flashing in her head.

Maria turned to look at Amu for the first time, really studying the pink haired female. "I remember you, kind of."

"Amu Cross." Amu offered with a little forced smile.

"You're a witch, correct?" Maria's eyes lit up. "Can you see the dead?"

Amu's eyes widen at the question, but nodded. "I can, though I've only seen one spirit."

"Shizuka-sama's?" Maria asked hopefully.

Zero looked surprised and upset when Amu nodded, "Yes."

"Is she here right now?"

"No." Amu stated, watching Maria turn dissapointed. Amu then decided to play ghost whisper and give Maria some closure. "She loved you even if she didn't express it, Maria."

"How do you know?" Maria muttered bitterly now.

"She was here when you first woke up." Amu smiled as Maria brightened up. "How did you know I was a witch and why that question?"

"Shizuka-sama use to tell me about witches and the rarity. She told me that they give off this slightly inhuman aurora, and I just guess right." Maria coughed more, not being able to answer the other question.

Amu walked towards Maria, putting a hand on her forehead and whispering. "You're pain should be reduced, now get some sleep Maria-chan."

With that Amu walked out of the infirmary with Zero, who kept questioning her. Amu rolled her eyes and told her boyfriend to calm down and that Shizuka was just a roaming soul now until she found the light. Still Amu understood why it put him into uneasiness knowing Shizuka could communicate to Amu.

Kaien had already left back to office, leaving Yuki to wait for the couple. "Maria-san isn't intending to stay in this school so she told the Chairman that she was planning on returning home."

Yuki then stared out the window, "Love, huh- I have the Chairman, Kaname-sempai, Zero, Yori-chan, and Amu. I'm very lucky."

"Where is this sudden affection coming from?" Amu suddenly asked. "Not that I don't appreciate nor return it- because I do."

"If I become a vampire, do you think my heart will be stronger too?" Yuki asked out of nowhere.

The question caught both Zero and Amu off guard. Zero's expression turned upset and Amu blinked confused as to where the question came from. Yuki helped by continuing on. "Kaname-sempai asked if I wanted to become a vampire and all I could say was yes, but really Kaname-sempai wasn't serious at all about it."

"Well he asked, so obviously he was thinking about it." Amu pointed out.

Zero's eyes narrowed, "But you thought it would be okay to become a vampire right? I will never let you turn into something like that even if that means I have to make Kaname Kuran my enemy and even if that will make you hate me."

Amu sighed angrily as Zero walked away. Amu could see the sadness in Yuki's eyes, but also understood where Zero came from. "You know he hates vampires, so naturally he doesn't want that for you Yuki."

"I know." Yuki sighed, slumping her shoulders sadly.

"Still, what I want for you is to be happy, even if that means you turn." AMu smiled, squeezing Yuki's shoulder. "Be happy Yuki, okay?"

"Hai!" Yuki smiled, even if she forced it. Somehow, Yuki didn't feel very happy anymore.

"You know I pictured it a lot less scary looking." Kyou muttered, standing close to Amu's left side as they looked up at the towering building of the Witch Hunter's Association.

After everything with Maria, Kyou came and got Amu and Zero with Ikuto, stating that it was time to go to the Witch Hunter's Association. Better to come earlier than later because Amu knew they'd declare war on her for any little reason. On the way here, Amu and Kyou had to tell Zero and Ikuto the plan, especially if anything went wrong. There Amu also scolded the two for never showing up to the meeting with Yagari. Ikuto had gave the excuse that Zero was teaching them how to shoot and lost time. Amu didn't care though.

"You're telling me." Amu retorted, the hairs on the back of her neck standing up straight as she hugged Sakura to her chest. Her familiar insisted that she came. Though, instead of staying in her cat form, Sakura jumped out of Amu's arms and transformed into her human form.

"You have a familiar!?" Kyou yelled in amazement and anger. He was mad she kept Sakura a secret.

"Familiar?" Ikuto asks, confused as to how the cat turned into a human teenaged girl with waist-length black hair that was done up in two low pigtails, porcelain skin and golden eyes that matched Amu's. She wore a purple kimono with butterflies.

"A familiar is a supernatural entity that assists witches in their practice of magic, and we protect our witch." Sakura muttered out. "Amu's my witch, and I will protect her here."

Amu decided that this was Sakura's other personality, the cold and calculating one that looks for all the treats to take them out. Amu could only smile at her familiar and friend. Sakura was always wondering around school campus bored.

"One problem with that." Kyou put in, getting over his excitement quickly. "That entrance will cut off all magic ties. You'll be in pain every second you're in that building. You can't go in there."

"Oh watch me." Sakura hissed.

"Sakura." Amu called, grabbing the familiar's hand. "Please listen. I don't want you to get hurt. I will be okay and better off knowing you're okay out here."

"Amu-sama." Sakura whined.

"She's right." Zero stated to Sakura. "You'll be a liability."

"Please Sakura." Amu begged the stubborn familiar.

Sakura huffed, "Fine but you better be out of there in two hours. Or I will come in."

Amu nodded, watching as Sakura turned back into a black cat and ran off into the shadows of a bush to cover her. Kyou once again was awestruck, causing Amu to shove him to snap him out of it.

"You ready?" Ikuto asks, as tense as the other two males as they all sensed how unease Amu was suddenly as they grew closer to the entrance.

"I guess so, I don't really have a choice here Ikuto." Amu sighed, watching as Kyou and Ikuto made their way towards the looming front gates that could be the entrance to hell.

Amu couldn't help but hesitate as she grew closer to the main entryway of the WItch Hunter's entrance as she followed. Every instinct she had told her to stop approaching the gates, to turn around and leave at this very moment. Zero, sensing that she was about to do just that, reached over and grabbed her hand gently. He'd gotten over the whole Shizuka thing.

"Come on, nothing's going to happen." Zero whispered, pulling Amu through the entry way.

A sharp gasp escaped her lips as a response to Zero as pain coursed through her body, traveling to her head. Amu's hand let go of Zero's, bringing them up to her head as she bent over. Her body felt weak, feeling as if she could collapse at any given second.

"What the hell is going on?" Kyou barked, glaring at someone in the distance who was approaching them. Zero and Ikuto immediately went to guard Amu, shielding her from sight as she tried to stay standing on her feet.

"It's nullifying her magic capabilities. The process is painful but it assures our safety here in the Association from Amu's magic and all of the witch species." The voice of Kukai Souma echoed in Amu's ears.

"That wasn't really necessary!" Kyou's voice growled out. "Amu agreed to come here, she accepted your stupid little note! You treat her like the enemy!"

"She is the enemy and you're a traitor, Kyou Aki." Kukai snapped suddenly. "You were supposed to be a hunter, but you protect her instead of actually turning her in. Amu is nothing more than the enemy of us Witch Hunters."

"Is that how you really feel Kukai?" Ikuto asked harshly. "If I can recall, you said you were sorry. You were her friend once upon a time."

"But loyalties change." Amu's labored breath cut through. "Friendships turn cold and end up becoming enemies. You and me, we were never friends because you're one hell of a good actor Kukai. Getting someone to attach to you before cutting them down so fast. You almost had what you wanted too."

Kukai meet Amu's hard honey gaze, the fear that was in those orbs when she entered were now replaced with anger and pride. Kukai was surprised, but apparently Amu was stronger than he thought- especially since last time she was broken hearted and upset. Now she was back with Zero by her side along with Kyou and Ikuto.

"Blood is thicker than water." Kukai muttered. "If I had a choice-"

"Oh shut up with that damn act. No one's falling for it anymore." Amu snapped with an eye roll. "You killed my family, even if it wasn't you it was that damn brother of yours."

"You think I don't wish it could be another way Amu? I really wished that you would have never discovered this world, but it was inevitable." Kukai shook his head, motioning to follow. "Come with me, the President here is waiting."

Amu was about to follow, Zero still pulling her along after making her sure she was okay. He was being careful, trying to look over for any physical wounds upon entry, but Amu shrugged him off. Zero gave her a look, ready to follow Ikuto- but Amu being anchored to the spot she was at made he stop. Looking at her line of sight, he saw she was watching a scene going on a few feet away.

A tall male with blonde hair that stuck out of a hat was arguing with one of the hunters, who proceeded to pull out a gun at point it right at the male's head. Somehow, Amu didn't really know but she just knew that blonde with the fedora was a witch of dark descent That was probably just herself being able to finally sense someone else who was a witch, though it felt weird. A tingle went down her spine, as if to alert her.

"Walk forward bastard." Was all the hunter said as they came towards Amu and the others.

Suddenly the blonde stopped, lifted his head and looked at Amu. Her must of felt the alert as well. His cyan blue eyes locked with her golden, and a grin spread across his lips as he did a curtsey. "I heard rumors that the Kiyomizu Queen was back. Pleasure to be graced by your presence your majesty. The name's Keita Furito."

Amu merely blinked in bewilderment at his ridiculous antics, but had already Zero pulled her away, growling at Keita. "Stay away from her."

Keita put his hands up in surrender. "I'm not trying to hurt her, trust me on that one. Still, Princess- I like that name better, watch out for these nasty hunters. They'll kill you."

"That's enough outta you." The hunter pushed Keita roughly. "Walk."

Amu frowned, then walked forward to Kukai and leaving Zero in the back. "Who the hell was that?"

"Another damn witch." Kukai stated. "I'd watch it if I were you Amu, because one wrong move and you'll have a bullet between your eyes."

"You better watch it." Both Ikuto and Zero growled, not taking the threat lightly.

"Call your pitbulls off." Kukai demanded.

"No." Amu definitely smirked. "I kinda like having them there to growl at you, because you suck with hospitality."

"We aren't here to have cookies and tea." Kyou reminded seriously.

"I know." Amu rolled her eyes, falling back to be between Ikuto and Zero once again, letting Kyou lead the three of them behind Kukai.

The Witch Hunters Association was similarly formatted like the Vampire Hunters Association. The walls were all made of stone, the people were just as judgmental to her with their calculating stares and cold glares. You'd think they'd understand that Amu was originally raised human, she had humanity. Now as she walked deeper into the hatred, Amu finally understood. It didn't matter what she said, what she did or what she accused- she was the enemy, she was the one in the wrong, everything was her fault. Then again it wasn't and these people were just judgemental hunters with nothing better to do.

Kukai wasn't going to give them a tour of the place, but it took all of five minutes to get to the room he needed them to go to. Opening the door, leading the foursome into the room, Kukai shut the doors and allowed them to take in their surroundings. Ikuto was new to this still. Kyou was inspected all the possible exits, which weren't many-which was probably on purpose. Zero was glued by Amu's side. Amu was busy having a stare down with a muscular, dark brown spiky haired man with tan skin and brown eyes. He sat in a big chair, signifying that he was the one in charge. The President.

"Miss Kiyomizu, nice for you too finally come."

Amu snickered, "I would say the pleasure's all mine, but it's not Souma."

"It's actually President Kaidou Souma." He corrected, smirking at Amu.

"Oh look at that, I left all my fucks back at the Academy by accident." Amu faked gasped, earning a nudge from Kyou.

"Amu, be serious right now. Enough with the witty remarks. This isn't a game." Kyou reminded, stepping back away from her and dragging Zero and Ikuto with him against the wall.

Kaidou chuckled, "Well I didn't think you'd actually come. Since you know, I was involved with your family's murder."

Amu's clenched her fists at the reminder. This was one of the men involved with her mother's death, Ami's death, and her father's death. They were the reason they were dead, because of some stupid prejudice and fear.

"I can because of the death threat at the end." Amu snarled.

"That does tend to do the trick." A male with grey brown hair cut in. "I put that in myself. I'm Shuusui Souma by the way."

Amu's eyes narrowed, another one involved. "And you're proud? Of course you are."

"Well we got you here." Amu recognized Rento and Unkai Souma at the sides of the table. All of them she hated with every fiber of her being. Right now she was thankful about the magic nullifier or she'd done something stupid by now.

"Are we going to talk about this peace and your rules?" Amu asked impatiently. "I want to go home."

"Of course." Kaidou agreed, "Our rules are simple really. One, stay in the perimeters of Cross Academy. Two, don't use your magic. Three, you must be watched full time by a hunter here that will be assigned to you and switched out every few weeks."

"That's basically taking her freedom away!" Kyou yelled. "That's not even a fair deal!"

"She doesn't have a choice traitor." Kaidou growled. "You should be thrown into the cell for trading sides."

"Could he have been on your side first though?" Amu inquired. "He comes from a bloodline that has a sole purpose of protecting the Kiyomizu bloodline."

"Which is worse!" Rento bursted out.

"Calm down." Kaidou snapped. "Amu, you don't have much of a choice."

"I do." Amu stated. "I won't live under your watch for the rest of my life. I won't suppress my magic and I sure as hell won't be forced to stay at the Academy for the rest of my life. Can I ask you something Kaidou?"

"You may, go on."

Amu walked towards her end of the rectangular table, placing her hands down and staring right into Kaidou's brown eyes. "When a child is born, they are born pure. Whether it be a human, vampire, witch or hunter. We make our choices that define who we are, but I guarantee you one thing President Souma. You force a person into a corner, you'll turn them into an animal. Do you want that?"

"Do you know what we do to animals?" Kaidou asked tauntingly. "We put them down like they deserved to be. Shot right in the head."

Amu gave a cruel smile, "I'm asking you nicely to reconsider your offer. Make one where we both benefit from because right now this is all a waste of my time. How about I tell you what I want."

"And what is it that you want?" Kaidou was wary now, causing Amu's smirk to grow.

"I want my freedom. I'll live by your rule of no killing humans, and if that is broken then it's fair game." Amu stated. "But I want a peace treaty. I want to make sure this extends out to the other witches as well."

"No." Kaidou declined. "Not the other witches.

Amu's eyes narrowed into a glare at Kaidou. "You wanted peace, and here I am willing to give you peace. You're just being too damn stubborn to meet my demands- because the one thing I realized coming here is that I represent a whole fucking species, and it's my choices now that will either protect them from you hunters or put them all in danger. Even if you want to discriminate me!"

"Amu-" Zero went to cut in, but Kyou grabbed his arm and shook his head.

"This is her fight, we are just here to intervene if needed Zero." Kyou reminded both himself and Zero.

"Or you can get yourself protected-"

"There's no point in that!" Amu exclaimed frustrated. "The witch species is endangered as it is! All I want is to ensure the survival of my species, and I'm willing to abide to your rules like how Kaname Kuran abides to the Vampire Hunter Association."

"You want to co-exist with us humans?" Rento asked for his elder brother.

"I lived my whole life thinking I was human up until a year ago when you killed my family." Amu snarled out. "I have no blood on my hands, but you do and you call me the one with no humanity?"

"See, right there you have motive to hate us and want revenge." Kaidou pointed out.

"If I really wanted that, I would have killed Kukai right on the spot when I learned the truth, but I didn't." Amu took in a deep breath to calm herself.

"The thought to kill me crossed your mind?" Kukai asked, surprised.

Amu gave him a pointed look, "Yes Kukai. You were involved with the death of my mother, father and four year old sister. How do you even live at night knowing you killed a kid?"

"I sleep quite well." Kaidou grunted. "Now as for co-existing, not possible."

"It's going to be possible." Amu corrected. "You have witches here, why not send them to Cross Academy? I will take full responsibility for them."

"Amu." Zero hissed. "Kaien didn't approve this."

"How many witches are known alive today." Amu asked, ignoring Zero.

"Four." Unkai answered. "A set of brothers and two other females."

Amu nodded, "Then I can handle them. I'm sure they know how to live as humans."

"The question is Amu, how are you so confident that you can control them?" Kukai questioned. "Aren't you worried they'll try to kill you?"

"No." Amu answered simply. "They won't hurt the only person who's willing to lead them, now would they? The only ones they want to hurt is you, but I'm sure with the ancestors help- we can persuade them to be civil. Now do we have a deal, or was this all just a waste of my damn time?"

The room was quiet. Ikuto and Kyou with Kukai and Zero could only stare at Amu as she had a stare down with Kaidou, who was challenging Amu to back down. Only Amu stood her ground, showing she wasn't about to be some mindless marionnet that he could control. If one thing was clear now, Amu was an actual leader and she was willing to risk it all to protect the last remaining four witches known today.

That alone was something new to all three males, who didn't even know that this side of Amu existed. Still it was understandable that something snapped in the pink haired witch, forcing her to take her role as a Kiyomizu witch. A natural born leader.

The one thing the Witch Hunters didn't understand was that witches often formed covens. They were capable of working together and ensuring their survival. This was just another case of survival, that was why Amu was confident.

"You have your deal." Kaidou sneered. "If you mess up, you will be the one responsible."

Amu only smirked, "I thought we already established that President Souma."

"And Kukai will be returning to watch you and keep you in line."

"I'm not a dog." Amu snarled out, upset about Kukai returning.

"No." Kukai agreed. "But we want to make sure that you're keeping your end of the deal. That won't be a problem will it?"

"No." Amu grinned at Kukai. "Word of advice, good luck with Utau."

"What's that suppose to mean?!"

Only no one answered Kukai as Amu left the room in confidence with arms linked with Zero, and Ikuto and Kyou following in pursuit.

I really hope you all enjoyed the chapter! We got introductions to a new OC plus we have three more, and they are all witches. Thank you too Sparkle9510 for creating the OC's! She made them brilliantly, and I can't wait to bring them into the story!

Plus we got to finally see Kukai and the rest of his brothers and also a new side to Amu. This chapter was a little more political, but the next chapter will have more added since we are going into an arc in the Vampire Knight world- which I am super excited about! Any scene requests. let me know!

Also, if you are a fan of Diabolikal Lovers please check out my crossover with Vampire Knight, Diabolic Knight!

Please, please review. I'd love it if I could get 160 reviews.
