For the next week, I stayed in chamber relaxing with my thought as Blackberry was tending to my arm, spitting some chewed plant onto it three times a day. I also got her permission to feel the baby inside her. I never felt pregnancy before. I never even felt it with Jason when Mam was carrying him, so it felt very nice, to think that there was a baby growing inside this beautiful rabbit who was lucky to have her for a mother. I hoped the feel it kick but it wasn't ready yet. I received regular visits from Fiver and Pipkin who helped me pass the time with numerous matches of Bobstones, Pipkin playing on my behalf as I told him how many Bobstones I want him to put under his paw while I guessed Fiver's amount. I won about the same amount times as Fiver.

Eventually, after half of another, though still rather sore, Blackberry said my paw needs a bit of exercise but not to hop around too much, so no racing, no playfighting and no Tail Tag. I left the chamber feeling as free as a bird let out of its cage and entered the sunny down. Bigwig was outside with Spartina and his mane had restored completely. Pipkin was playing with Gillia, Snowdrop and Mallow who saw me.

"Leo!"

They charged up to me as if ready for a big hug.

"Gently, children!" reminded Primrose a short distance away from them.

They heeded her word, slowed down and they all hugged me gently and I tried to do the same.

"Nice to see you again, my little friends," I said.

"We are so happy you got away from that scary rabbit," said Gillia.

"He's dead now!" replied Snowdrop.

"Uncle fIver burned him for you," said Mallow.

"I know," I responded. "He is brave isn't he. Have you seen him?"

Gone by the hills behind the tree with Silverweed," replies Snowdrop.

I thanked them and went to look for them. They were lying on their backs enjoy the ray of sun, eyes closed. Quietly, I lay next to Fiver, his fur growing over his gash, and lifted my right ear over his eyes.

He yelped and jumped. He saw me winking at him and he jumped on me.

"You're gonna pay for that!" he laughed as we gently tumbled around on account of my wrist. "I was having a lovely dream that the warren was made of carrots."

"And you couldn't squeeze back into the warren?" I joked.

"You're really dead now!" he playfully growled.

"Not if I can help it!"

Silverweed pounced on Fiver as they tumbled about like puppies as I watched them.

"It's nice to be two of me," I commented.

Eventually, they returned to the places to catch the ray of sun. I joined them, feeling the same way I did reading on the hills I would visit on a sunny day.

"So Silverweed?" I asked. "What is Frith's Meadow like?"

"I can't say," said Silverweed as he sat up letting a blue butterfly rest on his paw. "My memory is gone. I only remember a gentle voice saying I need to live again for now - I think it might have been my mother."

"Do you know of your mother?" I asked.

"No," said Silverweed regrettably while nuzzling the butterfly. "All I know is she died when I was only a kitten and Cowslip raised me. All I know is that my youth is now restored and I still don't have the power to see tomorrow. I literally feel like a newborn rabbit. Thanks to your wonderful Necklace of Wisdom, Leo Barning from Above."

"Oh it's all Mrs. Frinvie's doing," I said sheepishly. "She told me of this and she was looking for it. I just volunteered to help her find it."

"But still, said Fiver. You helped me win my adopted brother back."

"You're adopted?" I asked incredulously to Silverweed.

"Indeed I am," he nodded smiling. "I never had no family other than Cowslip but two brothers is the best way to keep me in a family."

"You know, Leo," said Fiver. "Hazel wouldn't mind one more if you chose to stay here."

I felt very warm from these words, like a beautiful scene of sunset would say in my sight forever as the evening sun warmed me. Fiver was a very good friend to have. We did so much together, Bobstones, fighting dogs, encountering jolly bears, solving obstacles through prisons and unlocking magic. But then there were my parents, my grandparents, Rosie Rell, Michael Dawnrah and Mrs. Frinvie herself. I was in this universe for her. I came here for what I had to do and now I had to go back. But I didn't want to - I felt that Watership Down was my home, a very strange feeling. But it was as if I had always belonged there and nowhere else. Even with Hazel and Fiver, they were like real brothers and didn't want to leave them but there comes a time we have to do things we do not want to do.

"Fiver, Silverweed," I said, my spirit sinking. "I love you both like my own brothers, Hazel too and I would want more than anything else in the world to stay here with you. But I came here to get the necklace for a friend of mine. But if circumstances were to occur, would it be an open invitation?"

"Always," they both said together.

We all hugged

"Hello there, Buttercup!" We heard Hazel greeting a distance away.

I gasped in shock as me and Silverweed broke apart.

"Buttercup's here?" I said incredulously.

"I told you, Leo she understood," said Fiver putting his paws on my shoulder. "Why don't you go and talk to her?"

"I just feel uneasy at the moment, what if deep down she is hateful towards me?"

"I promise she will be okay towards you," said Fiver. "Go on."

I turned to the distance where I saw Buttercup talking with Hazel, then I looked back to Silverweed and Fiver who were watching me encouragingly.

"Will you guys come with me?" I asked.

"Certainly," said Silverweed.

"We're always there to help," said Fiver as we hopped down to Buttercup.

She had just stopped talking to Hazel when she turned to me. I stopped where I was, Fiver and Silverweed bumping into me.

"Err, hello, Buttercup," I greeted awkwardly.

"Hello, Leo," said Buttercup quietly. "Congratulations. I heard of your victory."

"And what it cost for you?" I said. "I'm sorry, Buttercup. But the truth is the truth. Mulberry tried to have me killed and he even tried to bite my paw off."

I showed her the covering of the bite mark which Blackberry had nursed before letting me out.

"How is it?" she asked looking at it.

"Hurts a little but not when it was bitten into in the first place."

Buttercup looked at and then away.

"All that was left of him before -"

I turned away in case she was about to cry.

"I'm sorry!" I said before running away.

"Don't run from me," she begged. "I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed that I thought I finally found a buck to protect me."

"Fate can take different turns," said Fiver.

"You can't help them," agreed Silverweed.

"At the same time," said Buttercup. "I must thank you, Leo. You saved me from nearly running my life."

"You'll find someone new one day, Buttercup," I said. "There are loads more gardens to raid in this world."

I was going to say there were plenty more fish in the sea, but being a rabbit she wouldn't get the meaning, so I quickly improvised.

Buttercup seemed to cheer up quickly for she was smiling not long after that talking to everyone.

"I know it's hard for you to adapt, Leo," said Fiver. "But there are things that you need to accept. I still fear my visions but I know I don't create them."

"Exactly," I said kindly. "Just like Joseph."

"Who's Joseph?" asked Silverweed.

"A rabbit from a book called the Bible," I explained. "Joseph was a rabbit and had eleven older brothers. Their father Jacob favoured Joseph more than the others much to their jealousy. Making them even more jealous, his father found him a rose to wear around his ears. Not just any rose but a rose with all different colours of the rainbow. But Joseph soon learned of having a gift for reading signs in dreams. He dreamed that for seven years there would be a lot of food in the meadow for everyone to eat, but for the next seven years after that, there would be a dreadful famine and none of the other rabbits will have any food. So thanks to his dreams they stored enough flay rah for the next seven years to survive the famine and his brothers bowed down to him, including his father."

"Wow," said Fiver. "So it was Joseph who had visions before me?"

"Yes," I said. "and both hold warnings. You are saving your family with them."

"It's like you are our brother already, Leo," said Fiver gratefully. "I don't know how I'd keep coping without you telling me this."

I smiled, proud that I had changed Fiver's view on his remarkable gift.
