"You cannot be serious." Severus Snape snapped at Albus Dumbledore.
"Severus, I have never been more serious in my life."
"It has to be an error. She wouldn't have... She-"
"Severus I have checked and believe me it is true." Albus sighed loudly. He was aware of the short teenaged relationship that Severus had been in, but he had never imagined that it went so far as-
"So you're trying to tell me that May became a- a- H*** ADDICT?" Severus covered his eyes with his hand. "I should never have left her! Not after she was pregnant. She told me not to worry. She said her parents were going to help her!"
"That may be, but what remains is that we have a vulnerable young girl in our care. And that girl is not a Trent. She's a Snape."
***FLASHBACK***
"May..." Severus Snape gasped as he saw her. Her ankle length dress was a shimmering aqua colour which completed the Ravenclaw style in the most perfect way possible. His girl. His future wife, maybe. She was definitely the most beautiful girl in the room. The Yule Ball was not exactly grand. Especially, since the adult chaperones were keeping a close eye on any young couples who got a little, too close.
"Sev," she grinned at him, purple-blue eyes sparkling. God she was sexy. But- Lily. He couldn't get her out of his head!
"Sev, are you okay?" She smiled and took his hand in hers.
"Yeah, I'm fine!" He smiled.
"Come on then gorgeous, lets dance!"
She was amazing at dancing, really fluid in her movements, perfectly in time with any beat you set. Wow...
***BACK TO THE PRESENT***
Jesus Christ! Snape sat with his head in his hands. His ex-girlfriend was a criminal, his adopted son was abused, and now his daughter attempted suicide. S***. How in God's name was he going to sort out this mess?

Grace sat cross-legged on her hospital bed.
Why did I have to live? She thought. Why couldn't I just zap out of existence? It wasn't like there was anyone who even cared about me.
She sat there looking down, picking at a loose thread on the sheet.
SS* SS* SS* SS* SS* SS* SS* SS*
Severus burst through the Hospital wing in a manner about as graceful as that of a dying ostrich. Ignoring Poppy's usual protests, he whisked himself over to Gracie's bed in the corner.
"Uh, hello," Severus said. Grace ignored him completely and stared off into the horizon.
"Gracie, I need to talk to you about something very important."
"I didn't want to be saved, you know." She interrupted abruptly. Still not looking at her Professor.
"What?"
"You heard me." She said finally looking up at her teacher. "I wanted to die. But no, now I'm stuck here." She looked back down at her hands. "I used to believe in fate, but mine was supposed to end there." She looked back up and glared at her teacher. "You cheated me!"
"Gracie, I'm sorry," Severus said sitting down on the bed next to hers. "But I couldn't let you drown. I would never just walk away and leave a child hurt." He grimaced, remembering his own brutal childhood. "You look like your mother," Severus said looking at Gracie.
"What?" Gracie looked up at Severus.
"Your mother. You look like her."
"What does that have to do with anything?" Graice sighed.
"Gracie, I'm trying to tell you something," Severus looked down at his hands and then back up at the little girl sitting on the bed across from him.
"Okay. What?"
Severus didn't think it would be this hard, but looking at the child across from him, he could see her mother so clearly. And it reminded him of why he fell in love with her in the first place. "I knew your mother. We went to school together."
"Okay," Gracie drawled out. "What is it you're trying to tell me?"
"Gracie, I'm your father."
"What?" Her face looked pale and her eyes were positively blazing with anger. "Are you serious?"
"When your mother was pregnant, I was involved with a group of people, who were closely connected to You-Know-Who. It was a mission from Dumbledore, I was not there of free will." This was not an exact lie, as he had wanted to get away from Voldemort as soon as he heard about May's pregnancy.
"You b***!" Grace yelled suddenly. "I WAS STUCK IN THAT GODFORSAKEN HOME SINCE I WAS TWO, YOU COULD HAVE TURNED UP ONCE! WHY DIDN'T YOU WANT ME?!" She threw a heavy book at him, catching him on the side of the head. Severus fled, leaving Gracie Evelyn Trent-Snape to sob her heart out on her own.
"I'm sorry Gracie, I'm so so sorry." he muttered to himself quietly, making his way back to his chambers. "I'm going to fix this if it's the last thing I do."
