"So, Ruby is getting married today," Blake said.
It was the day of what the group had come to know as the white rose wedding, and both young brides were getting ready for the big event. Yang and Blake were standing in the main lobby of the building, watching out a window as the snow fell outside, leaving a shimmering white blanket on the ground.
"Still sounds kinda weird," Yang replied, despite giving a gratified sigh.
"I don't think it's ever not going to sound weird," Blake chuckled.
"Blake?" Pyrrha called from a doorway behind the two girls, "Ruby would like to see you."
"Okay, thank you," Blake said with a nod.
"Oh, and Yang?" Pyrrha called as she prepared to leave the room herself. "Weiss told me that she wanted to see you as well."
"Tell her I'll be there in a few," Yang called.
Blake walked through the empty hallways until she found her way to the door to Ruby's room. She gave a light knock on the door.
"Come in!" Ruby called.
Blake opened the door and walked in
"How do I look?" Ruby asked as she turned to face Blake.
Ruby's dress shimmered like the new fallen snow outside of the building. The dress hugged Ruby's thin body, and almost completely covered her, accenting her figure while retaining a degree of modesty. The bottom of the dress flowed behind her, giving her what would have been an almost ghostlike appearance had it not been for her black-and-red hair, which had a dark red rose woven through it.
"You look gorgeous, Ruby," Blake said, smiling at Ruby.
"Are you sure?" Ruby asked, turning around several times. "I mean, do you think Weiss'll like it? Because, I don't really-"
"Ruby, you look beautiful," Blake interrupted, sighing with exasperation in spite of her smile.
"I still wished I grabbed those sky-blue shoes I brought," Ruby muttered.
"Either way," Blake said. "Weiss will love you. I promise."
"I hope so," Ruby said glumly. "Although, if I run, I might make it to the hotel in time to pick up my shoes."
"Ruby..." Blake said with a sigh.
Yang knocked on the door, and a faint voice called "Come in!" Yang opened the door, and walked in, seeing Weiss Schnee standing facing a mirror on the opposite side of the room.
"So, how do I look?" Weiss asked, turning to face Yang, her dress flowing behind her.
The dress a strapless affair that flowed for several feet behind her, and she woure a pair of long, fingerless gloves that went up to her elbows. Both shimmered like finely-polished obsidian, and faded to a glittering ruby at the fingers of the gloves and the bottom of the dress. Tucked behind her ear was a single, pale-white rose.
"Damn, Weiss," Yang said with a whistle, "Now I wish I was that one marrying you."
"Brute," Weiss said, rolling her eyes and turning back towards the mirror
"Well, hey, you're the one who wanted me to be your maid of honor," Yang said with a laugh as she walked up next to Weiss. "Seriously though, my sis isn't going to be able to keep herself off of you."
Weiss let out a long sigh as she continued to examine herself in the mirror.
"Nervous?" Yang asked as she watched Weiss look over her dress.
"Yeah," she replied wistfully. "Not sure why, though."
"Well you two are taking a pretty big step," Yang replied, placing a hand on Weiss' shoulder. "Don't worry, I'm sure you two will be perfectly fine."
"Yeah, probably," Weiss replied, sighing gently. "I'll bet Ruby's not having any problems right now though."
Yang laughed again. "Oh, you'd be surprised."
"But they're the same color as Weiss's eyes!" Ruby yelled as she desperately tried to escape Blake's hold on her and ump out of the window.
"Ruby, no!" Blake yelled. "You don't have time!"
"But-"
"No!"
Ruby sat down on the floor looking deflated.
"Relax," Blake said, rubbing Ruby's shoulder consolingly, "I'm sure Weiss will be happy with you just the way you are."
"Are you sure?" Ruby asked.
"Absolutely," Blake replied, turning Ruby's head so she was looking into her eyes.
"Okay," Ruby said, standing back up. "I guess I'll just wait now."
"I honestly can't wait to see her," Weiss said, smiling as she stared at her reflection.
"Well, you've got about ten more minutes until you two tie the knot," Yang said, looking at her phone. "Is there anything you need?"
"Could you get me some water?"
"Sure," Yang replied and left the room.
Weiss took one more look in the mirror, and smiled. This is it, she thought. No more lonely Ice Queen.
"Here you go Weiss," Yang said.
"Thanks," Weiss replied, taking a sip.
"No problem," Yang said. Both young women sat down on a pair of chairs located in the room, and looked at each other. "Well, we've got about an hour until it's time for you to get married. Is there anything else you need?"
"No, not right now," Weiss replied, giving Yang a smile. "But thank you. For everything."
The alarm on Weiss phone started to chime, and Weiss quickly picked it up.
"That's our cue," Yang said. "Are you ready?"
"No. Not that it matters now," Weiss replied. "And I can't really just leave Ruby at the altar, or you'd actually kill me."
"Probably," Yang said with a laugh. "Come on, Ice Queen, let's get you down there."
Weiss nodded and followed her maid of honor out of the room. The halls of the building were completely silent. Weiss stared ahead of her at the massive wooden doors that lead to where she and Ruby would officially get married.
"Still nervous?" Yang asked.
Weiss nodded as she started to shake lightly. Yang wrapped her arms firmly around the heiress, and let her rest her head on Yang's shoulder.
"Don't worry, everything's going to be just fine," Yang said, giving Weiss a light, reassuring squeeze.
Suddenly, behind the door, Weiss could hear music start to play.
"Well, that's our cue," Yang said. "You ready?"
Weiss nodded.
"Then close your eyes," Yang said, as she prepared to push the door open. "Here we go."
Through her closed eyes, Weiss heard the door creak open, and she and Yang stepped through.
A/N: Here you guys go! Sorry for this chapter being shorter than the others, as it's primarily serving as a setup for the next chapter. Speaking of, I've got one more chapter here, and then an epilogue, and this one will be finished! Once I finish here, then I'll be starting a new story that's been "unofficially" announced on my profile. It's going to be a Victory Rose (Ruby x Pyrrha) story in the canon universe that begins just before the Beacon Dance. The story is going to be relatively short, probably clocking in at somewhere between six to twelve chapters.
Also, speaking of new stories, if you haven't read my newest oneshot yet, it's a White Rose, one-way Freezerburn story in the canon universe called Burning a White Rose. Be ready for lots of feels if you read it!
Finally, this story broke 200 favorites! Shoutout to Contagiousplague for being the 200th favorite! Thanks for reading, leave a review telling me how I'm doing, and stay tuned for chapter 3 of The Rose Guardian! Until then!
