It felt like I slept for an eternity...

I'm not exactly sure what woke me up early the next morning. I wanted to say it was because of a feeling I had back when Farrah and I were on our way to Newbark town, but I wasn't sure.

Farrah was still fast asleep on the air mattress her relatives let her borrow, which was actually meant for me but she insisted I take the bed like she said. I didn't complain. I was out on the beach in no time at all since it was too early for everyone else. After taking a seat on the bench we sat on yesterday, I had to ponder why I couldn't shake the worry inside me, if I could even call it that. It made my entire body dead still, yet want to shake at the same time, almost tremble. I took a deep breath, clearing my mind. Can Pokémon only feel it? Or was it because I was sensing something...

I narrowed my eyes across the lake. The water was unsteady on that overcast, grey morning. And it was a little windy with a chill that required more than a sweater to go out in. But nothing about the weather was out of the ordinary, lately anyway.

However, just like near Newbark Town, there weren't as many Pokémon out like there should be. I know it was early, but still...

I spent the rest of my time aura training until everyone woke up, which was about a couple hours later. Well, I couldn't say everyone since all but one of Farrah's cousins were still asleep. It seemed her aunt and uncle had the habit of getting ready for their day before eating breakfast, influencing Farrah to do the same in the process. Leah so kindly offered me a plate of various fruit to eat with her youngest, a little girl who was actually a slightly afraid of me while she ate her cereal across the kitchen table from me. I didn't blame her; I'd be staring at the lucario casually eating breakfast on the table too. If not for her dad coming down from washing up, she'd be in tears.

"Ah, you must be Farrah's Pokémon," he said, walking behind my chair to get a cup of coffee.

The man resembled Farrah's father for sure, just more... cleaned up. Got that gut sticking out too. With medium length black hair, I guess he was going for more of a 'rock'n'roll' kind of look. The t-shirt screamed I just came back from the beaches of Hoenn and the shorts too. He turned back once he was finished pouring, now adding cream and sugar. "Lynn. Did you say hi?"

The poor girl shrunk in her chair before grabbing her togepi plush and up the stairs, leaving her half eaten bowl of cereal on the table. Farrah's uncle and I cracked a smile at each other.

"She's our shyest." He laughed, sipping his coffee. Dawn was the same when she was smaller, the cutest too.

"Boys!" Leah yelled from the top of the stairs, startling me; she had quite the strong voice. "Get ready! The bus is coming!" Once she announced that, it seemed like almost their whole family was at the foyer in no time at all, dressed and everything. Even the butler was helping them. That meant that ampharos too, which he quickly found out I was alone in the kitchen and proceeded to stick his yellow head from around the corner and stare at me until I got uncomfortable. If that Pokémon could growl at me, I'm sure he would. We exchanged glares at each other as I passed by on my way out the back door and outside. I don't doubt that he could electrocute me without even so much as a 'hi', but after that little situation was over and done with, I realized how differently I acted. I leaned into the wooden railing of the patio, pondering about it as I watched the water. As a trainer, I would have tried getting the ampharos' trust, even it was just a little bit.

As a lucario, I was defensive almost immediately. I placed a paw against my forehead, getting frustrated. Was I over-thinking it?

For days, I couldn't help but ask myself that and wonder, over and over.
