FORGOTTEN
ARADIA: PROTECT KARKAT
You dance along the ridge of the cliff. You haven't felt this good since you died. You hear the scrabble of rocks nearby and look up to see a short troll skidding down the hill leading to the cliff. You don't really care until you notice it's Karkat. Your curiosity's been peaked.
"hey kk, what are y0u d0ing?" you ask yourself. He looks up.
"SHIT." he mutters. "HEY ARADIA. I COULD ASK YOU THE SAME." you blink and stare at him.
"y0u can hear me?" he looks at you like your stupid.
"WHY WOULDN'T I? YOU'RE STANDING RIGHT THERE." he can see me.
"Karkat, I'm a gh0st" you say gently.
"YOU'RE DEAD?" he blinks in confusion. Then he smiles. This makes you uneasy. Not because the last time you saw him smile was.. never. But because the look in his eyes. Its the look of a troll who had nothing left to loose. Karkat steps over the edge while your stunned. Your arm whips out to grab him.
"karkat!" your hand passes through him and he falls into the rocky premise below. Your hands fly to your mouth as you hover down to Karkat's limp broken body. Tears well in the corners of your eyes. You've never seen so much, so much, so much red. Karkat sits up.
"Karkat!" you say grabbing him.
"HI ARADIA." he says blinking up at you sleepily.
"what did y0u think y0u wer-" you stop, gapping at him.
"WHAT?" he says looking down.
"0H." The Karkat you were holding was but a shadow, a ghost, coming out of the broken body of the Karkat that fell.
"0-0h.. 0h n0.." he looks up at you.
"D0N'T CRY ARADIA, IT D0ESN'T HURT." he tries to comfort you, resting a hesitant hand on your shoulder before pulling you into his chest and holding you in an embrace.
"IT'LL BE ALL RIGHT ARADIA, I'M FINE." You look at him with tears in your eyes. He just doesn't get it.
"karkat, y0ur, y0ur dead! Y0ur dead karkat!" you yell at him. He looks at you with soft eyes, light from somewhere else sparking of his silver irises, even though it was night.
"I KN0W." You look down at his body's face, the eyes a dark grey and lifeless where before they'd always been sparking with some sort of emotion.
