~Nico's POV~

I ran out of the house, bounding down the small stairs that led up to the front door.

What did I just do?

What did I just do?

My mind buzzed as a fled the house, bells ringing in my ears. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't think. My limbs felt numb with every step that I took. It was like the world was tilting and spinning around me all at once and I was going to fall down into a deep black hole any minute.

What did I just do? Nico, what were you thinking? How could I let him go like that? Why did I let him go like that? How could I break the heart of the person I loved the most? How did I become such a monster?

"God, please, no," I muttered to myself, tears streaming down my face. "All I wanted...I had it all...I had him and I blew it! I fucking blew it!"

I had no idea where I was going, or what I was running to. Or from. All I knew was that I needed to get away. I needed to get him out of my head for now. It was the easiest thing. I slowed down to a walk after running for a good fifteen minutes. I looked around to see where I was and found myself downtown.
It was dark out now, and I was sure Percy was beginning to worry like crazy about me. I lifted my phone from the back pocket of my jeans, and sure enough, I was right.

Percy: Nico, we don't have to talk about what happened, but I need to know that you're okay

Percy: Nico, please

Percy: I still care about you, I need to know that you're alright, Hazel needs to know that you're alright

Percy: I'm worried sick about you, okay

I didn't reply to him, but I know he'd see that I'd read the messages. I knew that he was right, though. It was stupid to run away. Where was I supposed to spend the night now? Home? His house? Both of those choices weren't an option. I knew that Jaelyn wouldn't take me back, and if I went back to Percy's house…

I shook the thoughts from my brain and pushed forward.

Starbucks was one of the few shops still open at this time of night. I shuddered as the cold wind pierced my skin through the clothes I was wearing and stepped inside the small cafe.
There weren't a lot of people there - well, why would there be? A boy probably around my age with blonde hair and olive skin sipping a hot cup of coffee, and a guy on his laptop typing away at something, headphones in his ears.

I didn't have any money, so I sat down at a booth alone, rubbing my hands together from the frigid air. It was warm in Starbucks, and I figured I could stay for a while.

After about twenty minutes, one of the workers came up to me. She was older, probably in her mid to late twenties, with brown hair tied back into a ponytail.

"Excuse me, young man?" she said to me. I looked up at her.

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry, but you can't stay without purchasing anything," she replied. I stared at her.

"You're joking, right? I can't just sit here?" I asked. She shook her head. "Well, I don't have any money."

"Sir, unless you purchase something from our menu, I'm going to have to ask you to leave," she said.

I waited a few moments before responding.

"Fine," I said, getting up.

"You're going to kick him out?" a voice said. I peeked around the woman to see the boy with the blonde hair and olive skin stand up from where he was sitting. "Just for not buying anything?"

The employee said nothing.

"Do I know you?" I asked the boy. He shook his head.

"No, but I know you," he replied. He turned to the woman, still standing there, now

looking extremely aggravated. "I'll buy him something. Can he stay then?"

The woman hesitated before answering. "I suppose so," she said, turning and walking away back to her position at the counter.

The boy turned to me, now.

"Will," he said, holding out his hand. A slight grin emerged on his face as he said this. "Will Solace."

I hesitantly shook his hand.

"Nico Di Angelo." I said. He nodded. "How do you know me?"

"Oh, I'm Doctor Solace's son," he said.

"Doctor Solace...the doctor who fixed me up after I was shot?" I asked. The boy, Will, nodded.

"Yeah, that's my dad. He's a miracle worker," Will said. He smiled at me.

"Yeah, he is," I said.

I realized now that Will was a lot taller than me, Percy's height at least. His hair was sandy blonde and slightly curled. He was, in no uncertain terms, gorgeous.

"Here," Will said. He pulled a five dollar bill from his pocket and handed it to me. "Go buy yourself something."

"Thanks," I said. He only smiled at me.

Just then, my phone buzzed in my pocket and I took it out. It was Percy, again.

Percy: If you don't answer, I'm going to the police and filing a missing person report

"Boyfriend?" Will asked. I looked up from my phone at him and blinked.

"What?"

"Are you texting your boyfriend?" he asked again.

"Ex, actually," I said slowly. I wasn't sure if I saw it or not, but I was sure that his face lit up a bit.

"I'm sorry to hear that," he said. I could see the sadness in his face and hear it in his voice, but I could see right through him. This guy was actually pleased that I was single for now. "Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, here's my number."

He pulled a pen and a slip of paper from his pocket and started to write down a bunch of digits. He then handed it to me and I stared at it dumbfoundedly.
"What, never had a guy give you their number before?" he asked, a smile creeping on his lips. I shook my head and he laughed. "Well, now you have."

"I...thanks," I said quietly. I could feel color rising to my cheeks. Will gave me a lopsided grin.

"Don't mention it," he said. "Hey, use that five bucks, would you?"

I nodded, and with that, Will Solace smiled at me and made his way to the door, a coffee cup still in his hand.

I blinked a few times and shook my head, realizing what had just happened. A smile creeped up on my lips, and I was, in fact, pretty proud of myself that I'd gotten a guy to give me his number.

"Excuse me," I called to the woman with the brown hair up at the counter. "I'd like a hot frappuccino, extra cream and extra sugar."

"Of course," the woman said, and she began making it.

After I got my coffee, I sat down in the same booth and took out my phone.

Me: A missing person report can only be filed after 24 hours, dumbass

I shut off my phone, then, and took a sip of the coffee I ordered with the five dollars Will gave me.

It was warm and sweet, and for a moment, it let me forget about Percy Jackson.
