The tension of The Shield in script wasn't the only thing that was increasing. The tension between The Shield was increasing backstage. Colby didn't want Jon to call things off with Desiree. All he wanted was an explanation from him about how things came together. He still didn't understand how Jon and Desiree came together, but ever since Old School RAW, they haven't talked much about the subject. It was basically how things were like in the summertime. Jon was the wrestler and Desiree was the intern. It was like that fling with her never occurred. It pissed off Colby because he knew that this was something that Jon couldn't imagine that it never happened. It happened and not the excess of alcohol could make all of this disappeared. It was glued into Jon and Des' minds.
Speaking of Desiree, she had distanced herself from Jon. Her heart still broke, whenever she was in the same room as him. It made her upset how the past couple weeks, she watched him drink heavy amounts of liquor and it was probably because he wanted to forget her. She grew depressed and she had begun eating a lot of food, making her gain a lot of weight. Desiree was gaining weight the unsafe way and happily, Joe was able to take notice and inform Dr. Meyers and the rest of her care team before it was too late. For the past weeks, Joe had been going to the live stream appointments with Desiree, making sure that she is informing the doctors with everything that they needed to be informed of.
"Desiree, you're a beautiful girl. There is nothing wrong with you at all." Dr. Rubin assured the teenage intern, who was dealing with her own insecurities. Des had concluded in her mind that Jon was drinking to forget their fling—as she called it now. Sadly, the blonde psychologist encouragement wasn't enough to make her feel better. Who else noticed that? Joe. Joe pulled Desiree in for a hug, but not even his hugs were making her feel better. She was hurt on the inside—her facial expression was blank. There was no telling if she was happy or upset.
"Then, why is Jon drinking? What did I do to make him drink so much? I haven't had this facial expression on my face ever since my father's drinking days. I don't see Jonathan Good, I see another reflection of my father." Desiree said in such a cold way. It even hit Joe, Nurse Vasquez and Dr. Rubin the hard way. This was not Desiree Harper, their happy, go lucky, socially awkward intern. This was a cold, depressed intern. This was a girl that was suffering the consequences of her heartbreak. Joe frowned, looking at Desiree. She didn't mean any of that.
"Des, you don't mean any of that. She is running through all of this emotion," he looked at Dr. Rubin, who frowned along with him. Desiree was normally not a trouble child, but she is really giving him a ton of trouble now. "At the Elimination Chamber, this will all be over. The Shield will officially disband and she can go home. She can get her head straight, focus on graduating and going to college. Starting her life—this is what she needs now." Joe told the doctor and nurse, who were worried about her self-esteem and most of all, her wellbeing.
"What is Desiree going to do, when she gets home? I don't want to see her in the news for something horrible. We think that her home at Grand Rapids is too unstable with her father, which could trigger some thoughts about Jon. I don't want her to go crazy, I want her to get the best treatment that she can get possibly. We want her to live with someone that will take care of her." Nurse Vasquez explained as Desiree looked at the floor, not daring to look anyone in the eyes. She did think about the man that she wanted to live with—her uncle. The one that has always encouraged her to chase her dreams.
"I have this uncle that I haven't talked to in over a decade. He was basically the only father figure in my life. I think that it should be him. First, I need to find him." Desiree spoke up, looking at Dr. Rubin in the eyes. She had overheard her dad and Jon talking about him during the Christmas party, and she believed that she should get in touch with him again. Uncle Darwin Harper from her dad's side—her dad's biggest competition, when it came to her. He was as big of a wrestling nut as she was.
"If you want to, we could hire a private investigator to track him down. We want to know that you will be in safe arms. Desiree, if you think he's a good man, I think that you should do everything in your power to track him down." Joe encouraged her. He thought that this was a good idea. He just wanted a better adult than Dustin Harper, watching her eye. This man seemed like a good guy, so why not track him down?
"Don't I have to be eighteen to look for him?" Desiree asked, she had heard some rules about being eighteen years old to track someone down, especially with family. As much as she would love to track down her favorite uncle, she would love to play within the rules. Weird that being with Jon hasn't changed her goodie two shoes attitude, but she is still going to play by the rules to be safe.
"I'm not quite sure, but that doesn't mean that I can't look for your uncle." Joe pointed out, making the intern raise a brow at him. It was true, if Des can't, perhaps Joe can.
Jon was flipping the script to find that there was no highlighting in the pages. What the hell was up with that? With the alcohol still not completely gone from his his system, it placed him in a horrible mood. Did Desiree forget to highlight the pages? It must have been because there was no clues that she had turned the pages of it. Jon didn't want to be angry because of no highlighting, but he couldn't help, but unleash his anger. Frustrated, he opened the door to the WWE Superstars Locker Room to find Colby talking to Bryan Danielson. By just looking at the frustration on Jon's eyes, Bryan knew the best thing for him to do was leave, before that anger was thrown to him.
"What are you pissed about this time?" Colby figured that Jon was pissed off because of the look on his face. What else was new about him? Jon was always angry now. Colby didn't like that because Jon did to himself, Colby didn't tell Jon to end things with Desiree—that was all Jon. All Colby wanted was a freaking explanation and instead, Jon made not only himself miserable, but Desiree as well? There was no telling what was going on inside his mind. Jon had completely lost it.
"Why didn't Des highlight our scripts? She always highlights are scripts!" Jon pointed out to Colby, who wasn't amused by his stable mate's antics. He thought it was so sad to see Jon in this way. It was normal of Jon to get upset of major things, but something as small as no highlighting showed him that something was way off about him.
Colby grabbed the script from Jon and gestured for him to calm down, he did his best not to rally him up. His attention went to Jon, who had done his compromise of calming down. All Colby had to do was listen to Jon rant for what will seem like the next half hour about no freaking highlighting on the page. "Now Jon, Desiree hasn't been herself as of late. With The Shield disbanding and all of that, this isn't easy for her. She's having a hard time reacting to all of this. At the Elimination Chamber, this will all be over and besides," Colby slammed the script at his chest. "You might have to start highlighting your own crap."
Jon looked down to his chest, where the script was thrown back at him. He placed his hands on it and then began to put things together—Desiree hasn't been herself and it's all of his fault. All he wanted to do was save her from heartbreak. Instead, he damaged a good relationship with the only girl that can tolerate him. There is no doubt that he really likes Des, but right now, they couldn't act the way that they were acting before with all of that affection that they have displayed with each other. Without affection, these two people were hurt. The affection that they got with each other, help maintain that happiness of their bond. Without that, there might not even be a bond.
"You have no clue how much you hurt her. She must have really liked you to be acting the way she has been acting. She is not acting like herself and you're doing nothing to make her feel better. You haven't even bothered talking to her and explain that you did this because it was the best thing for her. Jon, you were in a lot of pain and this girl healed you from it. She needs you as much as you need her. " as much as his words pained him, Colby had a point. Jon needed Desiree and not having any contact with her pained him.
"I know how much I pained her! I hate that I hurt her! It breaks my heart that she probably hates me. I promised her at the Intern Evaluation that I would protect her heart. I can't even protect her heart. It kills me everytime I hurt her. I never expected myself to fall for this girl. I just wanted to help her deal with her anorexia, but along the way, I felt myself caring for this girl. I found myself getting nervous around her. I wanted to treat her like a queen and make her feel love. When I started to really fall for her, I made my move and kissed her. I followed my heart. I like her a lot, Colby."
Desiree was outside of the Superstars Locker Room as she listen to Jon admit his feelings for her in front of Colby. She placed her head on the closed door and did one of her wonderful smiles. The one that would melt Jon's heart. The one that made him fall in love with her. Jon still liked her. She somewhat knew that because of everything that they went through. She felt love, when she kissed him. She understood why he did everything now. But, she still wanted to talk to him.
"I like you too, Jon." she whispered.
Still some feelings with Jon and Desiree? If I were Jon, I would talk!
