After the Denali's showed up, the American Nomads began to show up. This included Mary, Peter and Charlotte, and Randall. The red eyed vampires freaked me out, so I mostly stuck to Jake like glue, knowing that the more of his scent that piled up on me, the less tempted the human-blood drinkers would be to get near me to do the actual sucking of blood. I hadn't slept much since they started arriving, I had layed down with Jake and closed my eyes till I felt him fall asleep, and just pretended to sleep, as much as I loved the dream catcher, I was scared it wouldn't work. So if Jake knew that I was only pretending to sleep, he didn't tell anyone. And he hadn't told me, so I suspected that he didn't know at all.
After the American Nomads, came the European Nomads. Alistair, and Charles and Makenna. Two of which were gifted vampires. Alistair had this apparently unique tracking ability, meaning he could track an animate creature farther than a normal vampire. Charles has a strong sense of when someone is lying to him. Which I totally hated. That's an unfair gift, if you asked me, and I personally would totally not be opposed if it was me. I'm a total hypocrite, I know, it's terrible.
Then, came the Irish Coven of Maggie, Siobhan and Liam. Two of which were also gifted. Maggie knew when she was being lied to, unlike Charles, who just had a strong sense, and Siobhan could apparently visualize an outcome of events and project into reality. Pretty cool, but also really hypothetical. She said that we will win this war or whatever it was against Red-Eyes and if we do, then maybe I will believe her, but personally, I already believe that we are going to win, so, there's that.
The Amazon's were the next to arrive. I liked them a lot. Kachiri, Senna and the gifted one, Zafrina. She could project this really vivid visual illusion that could have a person believing they were in the bahamas when they were really freezing their ass off in a snow bank. I was personally really jealous. I wished I could do that. Although, it was kind of eerily similar to Red-Eyes gift, and that sort of scared me, because what if he could do more than just dreams, he just had to be there? He could get in my head and kill me and I'd just drop... Everything about this guy was scaring me.
Next up was the Egyptian Coven. Although the two oldest, Amun and Kebi, were sort of short tempered and looked like they really didn't want to be here, the two younger ones, Benjamin and Tia, were happy to see other vampires. And Benjamin had one of the coolest gifts so far. This is exactly what Edward told me when he was telling me about Benjamin's gift. Benjamin can physically influence the alchemical elements of nature, meaning fire, water, earth and air. Doesn't that sound super duper smart? I sound like a genius.
Lastly came the Romanians, Stefan and Vladimir. I didn't like them. They were arrogant and self obsessed and thought they were the best things here. And I was honestly hoping they'd leave. With all these vampires and the twenty wolves, two douchebag Romanians wouldn't make that much of a difference. But Bella thought that everybody counted. So I was forced to suck it up and just avoid them like everyone else in this house. No one liked them. And no one knew why they were here. So that's not much help, is it? Like when they had done this for Nessie, no one had invited the Romanians, they showed up because they wanted to see the Volturi go down, but the Volturi wasn't coming this time. I wasn't the only one more than a little suspicious.
"Piper, I've just realized something." Jake said to me one day when we were avoiding vampires in my room. It was the one place no vampire would go, Jake's scent was on everything.
"That your life would suck without me?" I guessed, looking up at him with a smile.
"I realized that a long time ago." He said and gave me a kiss. "But what I just realized was that Simon keeps calling you Pippa, whenever he tries to talk to you. Why?"
I was quiet for a moment. Simon had kept trying to talk to me, to apologize, but I'd just hold up my hand that was now properly set and in a cast from Carlisle, and he'd stop and leave. I hadn't tried talking to him or even thought about forgiving him. He may be the person that I had depended on most at one point in my life, but he left me. And I needed him, he left me in a dark place, and I can't forgive him for doing that. Besides, I have Jake now, I don't need him.
"Before his death, I hated my name. I used to get made fun of for it, and so Simon devised a solution. He would call me Pippa instead, as that was a much better name, in my opinion. But after he died, I couldn't bear the sound of it. So I stopped getting called that. I accepted my name and no one made fun of me. Problem solved." I told him.
"Did you tell him to stop calling you that?" Jake asked and I shook my head.
"Not directly. I said something along the lines of, 'I actually hate that name now,' when he was in the room, but I don't know if he got the hint. He always was really dense." I said, laughing a little. Jake wrapped his arms around me tighter and pulled me into a sweet kiss.
I announced that I was hungry, and Jake stood up and picked me up and I started giggling uncontrollably and telling him to stop, put me down, but he wouldn't listen and he carried me all the way down the stairs and into the horde of bloodsuckers. "Jake," I whined. "Put me down."
"No way, I'm not letting you go." He said and I laughed and covered my face with my hands to hide my blush and so I didn't have to see the red and yellow eyes watching me. "Excuse me, coming through," Jake said as he maneuvered around vampires.
When we got to the kitchen, he set me down finally and I got my bearings, then started opening cupboards and looking for food, but as I expected, there we no food in the cupboards. I sighed heavily and turned to Jake. "There's no food in the cupboards. Bella!" I called.
She appeared in the kitchen in an instant, and I jumped. "What? Are you hurt?" She asked.
"No! Unless you count my empty stomach! There's no food in here. You've got a human and some werewolves that have taken up residence and you don't have any food? That's just unacceptable." I said, standing with my hands on my hips. Bella laughed.
"Sorry, Pipes, its just been hectic with all these vampires. We haven't had time to go grocery shopping." She admitted and I groaned in annoyance. I was hungry.
"Could Jake take me out to get like, McDonalds or something?" I asked. Jake perked up. His nose had been on permanent assault since the vampires started arriving.
"What, like a date?" Jake said.
"No, I don't do dates, remember?" I told him before turning back to Bella. "So?"
"I don't know, Pipes," I groaned again. "Its just, you aren't as safe out there as you are here... And Alice can't see Jake, so she has been having trouble seeing you, and Piper I'm just worried."
Suddenly, I got an idea. "Oh, did you see that?"
"See what?" They asked.
"The lightbulb that just went off over my head, I have an idea! Jake could take me, and Emily and Sam and Paul and Rachel and a bunch of wolves could come! Or maybe just Seth and Leah, I like Seth, he's adorable." I said. "Come on, Bells, how much safer could I get in public, three massive wolves!"
"I'm sure Seth and Leah would be up to getting away from here for a while." Jake said and I agreed, Seth, Leah, Embry and Brady had been patrolling a border around the house while the other wolves rested near by.
Bella looked between Jake and I, obviously thinking it over. "Fine," She relented eventually and I cheered. "But you keep your cellphone on and call me when you get there and before you leave."
"Gosh, Bella, motherhood changed you." I said and she frowned, then I smiled and hugged her. "I'm teasing you, thank you, thank you!"
Jake and I went out back to where we found Leah and Seth on patrol and stopped them, they reverted to humans and pulled on their clothes while Jake explained the plan. We were going to all go out into town and find a fast food restaurant where I could get some food. Their purpose was mainly to protect me, but they were allowed to have fun. It was just because Bella was super worrysome that I wasn't allowed to go out by myself with Jake. So, I'll invite two people - wolves? - that I like to accompany me and Jake.
Thankfully, they agreed to go. I personally felt bad for Leah. She was the only female in a pack full of men. Boys, really, because as long as they had the wolf, they didn't age, which was weird, and sort of creepy because my boyfriend was a wolf and I'm gonna age, and he won't, but we won't worry about that. Not right now anyway. Just worry about the present. That's all that matters. Because I am going with my amazing boyfriend and two friends to go and get food like a normal teenager would, even if the other three people going could transform into huge massive wolves at will. We won't worry about that either. Right now, I'm gonna be a normal teenager.
