"Captain! Captain!" It was one of my soldiers, footsteps pounding on the concrete as he ran toward me. "We found the hideout-"

"Stay back!" I shouted, thrusting my arm out to the side. The footsteps stopped a safe distance back, thankfully. A second later, the top of the station building exploded.

Dust swirled through the air, but I could still see the soldier's silhouette when I turned in his direction. "Gather your squad, and any others you can," I ordered him. "Get everyone out of here." Somewhere, someone was screaming. The soldier saluted and rushed off.

As the smoke and dust settled, I could see that the damage to the building wasn't as bad as I'd thought. Of course, I had no idea what state the inside was in, and it looked like I'd have to leave that to others for the time being. The immediate threat remained to be dealt with – a cloaked figure perched on the edge of the roof.

"Maidang," I heard the figure mutter to himself. "After escaping Earth, you slipped away to Mercury, I see…"

"Hey," I called up to the figure, jabbing a finger at the ground. "This is Mars, last I checked. You're that terrible with directions, yet you still come out here to find someone?"

The figure might have been distracted earlier, but at my words he seemed to refocus on me. "You… You were the one who told Maidang about the Devil's Footprints." He spoke in a complete monotone.

"…Oh yeah," I said, scratching my chin as if in thought, yet never taking my eyes off the figure. That was true. Maidang and his rabbit friend – and that ugly girl – weren't going to reach their destination through any sanctioned means, after all, not with all the blocks put in place to ensure that the tragedy of Rainbow Sea would never happen again. But what did this guy care about that?

"I will ask you this once. Where is Maidang."

"Then I'll ask a question, too," I replied, nonchalantly reaching for the handle of my weapon. "Destroying a station on the Wormhole Network, attacking an official of the Interstellar Alliance – before I take you in, you'd better answer, who are you?"

In response, the figure removed his cloak and tossed it aside in one smooth motion. And despite the carefree attitude I had worked so hard to cultivate, I couldn't stop a faint gasp. At the same time, behind me, the top of a building was sliced clean off and came crashing to the ground.

Redeye. Rainbow Stone holder, power of shadow manipulation. One of Pentachrome, first lieutenants of the shadowy organization that had almost complete control over the Solar System.

…What the hell had Maidang done to attract the attention of someone so dangerous?

"Where is Maidang. You have three seconds to answer," Redeye said, softly.

I smiled. I had made so many false ones in the past that it didn't feel strange now at all. "Three. Two. One." I stretched my neck with a bravado I did not feel. "Bring it."

"Against you, I won't even need half my strength."

Redeye lunged forward – my eyes widened –
