Believe in Me – 6

Explosion upon explosion continued to rock what was left of the Dominion's prison ship. Everything around him fell apart. Raynor was thrown off his feet several times. Right on top of him, a huge hole was carved out into the ceiling, opening the normally sealed enclosure of the ship into the void of space beyond. Huge gash of air made their escape through the hole. Every Zerg creatures that accompanied Kerrigan was sucked out into the space beyond. Raynor manage to get hold onto what remains of a pillar, trying as hard as he could to remain inside the ship's hull. But the drastic reduction in the air pressure and the oxygen level didn't help him at all. Raynor began to feel dizzy. His body began to tense as the blood in his body began to boil due to the lost of atmospheric pressure. Anytime soon all of his veins will erupted as his blood gassed out of his body. Raynor didn't want to think in what state his body will be when they found him. Nor did he care.

Disappointment had always been a part of his life ever since his enrolment in the Confederacy army. It would be either from him or someone else close to him. It did drive him close to the edge several times if not for the family, close friends, acquaintances, lovers and wife that saved him. They were the one whom he drew his strength from.

But now he got no one left.

Those who joined him as the Raiders won't see him like what Tychus, Fenix, Harnack, Hormer and several others saw. They saw him simply as their leader, the one they counted on to do something right. They will never see his plight. And Horner? He was too young to understand. Raynor was alone.

Raynor began to gasp for air as the last of the oxygen made their escape into the space beyond. His vision started to blacken. All of the sudden, a huge blast threw Moros sideways. Raynor was thrown backward and landed hard on his back. He cried in pain as one of steel frame came crashing down and pinned his right leg. He tried to pull his leg free but to no avail. He was completely trapped.

A low rumble slowly made its way to him. Raynor looked up and saw the huge main pillar of the ship slowly began to topple over, right in his direction. Trapped, Raynor could do nothing. Closing his eyes, he could only wait for the excruciating pain, the darkness and the light at the end of the tunnel that would carry him away from all the suffering the universe had thrown in his way into the dimension beyond.

But the pain never came.

Curiosity overcame him. Raynor opened up his eyes. He saw the pillar hovered just inches above his face. His eyes wandered around and saw the reason. Both Sarah and Nova were holding up the pillar using their psionic powers.

The effect of the poison that was now running throughout his veins and the lack of oxygen overtook him. Raynor shut his eyes once again.

He could look no more….
