The Rise of the Rokudaime Hokage

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto

Author's Notice: Hello guys, long time no see. I apologize for the delay, but I've been gearing up to start writing again. I've started having more time to myself as of late and I'm grateful since it allows me to write more. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and I really wish to release more and more chapters and updates in the coming future.

Also, I'm thinking of branching out and doing a few other stories spark some more interest up from my part. But it'll probably be after I advance a bit more of my other stories. There're a couple story premises I've been considering, and I want you guys to tell me what you think. These are just ideas but I'm heavily considering them as premises for future stories. But also concerning stories, I've finally come up with a good intro and start for my old story idea "God of Shinobi", where Naruto is trained by the Sandaime Hokage early on. Other than that, I've been thinking of rewriting bits of Yondaime's Legacy, because I feel as if I made Naruto far too OP than I would like at such an early stage, and for those who know me you all know I hate immediate Godlike characters and so forth. One other thing is that I plan on branching out from just Naruto eventually, I'm considering One Piece, the most and maybe even bits of Tokyo Ghoul, Shokugeki no Souma, Attack on Titan or even Bleach.

(JUST SO YOU GUYS KNOW I ADDED A POLL REGARDING THE STORY IDEAS IN MY PROFILE. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT AND VOTE. I'D BE INTERESTED TO KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS WANNA SEE)

Naruto's actual lineage dates to the first Hokage making Naruto an Uzumaki and a Senju. But not only that but he appears to have the power of Mokuton. (To be honest this is the one along with God of Shinobi I'm leaning towards the most.

Naruto is banished after a successful Sasuke Retrieval Mission, but in doing he leaves and finds his way into Kiri after months of wandering and travelling. He then finds himself joining the rebellion against Yagura under the leadership of Mei Terumi.

Naruto managed to reach genin when Iruka promoted him, but because of the lateness of his promotion the Hokage was left with a dilemma since from the 36 kids in the academy, only 31 managed to make it with Naruto. Initially it was easy making ten three-man teams, but instead he was forced to make a team of four people. Introducing team Dead Last: Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru Nara, Kiba Inuzuka and Choji Akimichi. (Second most likely)

Hashirama and Madara never fully made peace despite Hashirama's tries and so Konoha was never conceived, but in doing so there were two major clans in the land of Fire, the Senju and the Uchiha. With Naruto being born into the Senju with the power of Mokuton.

Naruto being born five years early and instead his younger brother Menma was made the Jinchuuriki of the Kyuubi. Naruto was a prodigy and was a Joinin by 16, and by the age of 18 he was chosen to lead Team Seven which had Sasuke, Sakura and his brother Menma.

Minato and Kushina survived being able to raise their child Naruto, with Minato being the Hokage this allowed Naruto to train and grow up as a genius much like his father.

Naruto by the age of 18 returns to Konoha a much older, stronger and mature man. But not only that but he returns with a 2-year-old daughter, the child he conceived with Shion who he saved during his travels with Jiraiya when he was only 15. With a child that has inherited the Kyuubi's chakra and the priestess powers of Shion, Naruto must do everything to protect her.

The Fourth Great Ninja war raged on for a complete decade, by this time Naruto was Hokage but during a final ditch battle with the Akatsuki, they managed to escape back in time. To counter this Naruto, Darui, Kurotsuchi, Chojuro and Gaara, the five Kages went back in time as well to quell the dangers of Team Taka and the Akatsuki

Showing no skill or promise in ninjutsu or genjutsu, Naruto found himself graduating through a technicality (A year ahead of canon) and instead of Kakashi Hatake he found himself in a team led by none of than Maito Gai. In this team Naruto found his passion for Taijutsu.

By the time Monkey D. Luffy was 16 the Red-Haired Pirates Returned and this time he was made into a member of the legendary pirate crew. He would soon garner himself a bit of a reputation. But by the time he was 21, the young man was ready to set sail with his own crew (This is One Piece by the way for those who don't know)

Well here's a big list of ideas I've come up, they started out as interesting premises, but I've gotten more and more intrigued by them. I'd love to hear what you guys think, and as you already have a clue all the Naruto ones will be NaruSaku. All of them will still focus on Adventure and Romance and that sort of thing anyway. Except maybe #3 since that may focus mostly on friendship and adventure, before any action and romance. Anyway, thanks for bearing with me everyone, I apologize once more but as per usual please favorite, follow and review if you can.

Chapter 21: The Pen and the Sword

Another year had passed, Naruto's training had continued to progress but not necessarily at the rate they had hoped for. Since then the war had already begun, there has yet to be a full-blown attack with both sides on somewhat of a stand still. Despite that there have been small conflicts with the Allied Shinobi Forces sending small recon and scouting groups to spy on the Akatsuki only to encounter and battle Zetsu Clones.

Despite the war having a few small casualties thus far the recent encounters between both parties proved that the Fourth Shinobi War had truly begun.

Meanwhile, Naruto continued to train to prove himself battle ready for the upcoming war but of course this was proving to be more difficult than he initially thought. Naruto was getting uneasy at the progress of his training, he was getting much stronger but remained unable to fully master the Jinchuuriki Mode, the one skill he needed to be able to join in the war. These were the stipulations given to him if he wanted to participate in the war.

Throughout the year Naruto had to restrain himself from leaving and returning to the front lines. But he resisted because deep down inside he knew that if he returned prematurely he would only compromise the efforts of the Allied Shinobi Forces. Other than that, he himself knew he wasn't ready to combat the Akatsuki and if they managed to capture him then that meant they were one step away from their goal.

Naruto only had one blockade he had to go through if he wanted to return home, he had to make Kurama cooperate with him but of course this was much simpler than it sounded. Both Naruto and the fox had been stubborn in their approach and although they were no longer up on each other's throats ready to kill one another, they were still fragmented in their partnership. They simply lacked the chemistry and understanding Bee had with Gyuki.

Sometimes it worried Naruto, he wondered if they would ever get along the same way as Bee and Gyuki, or at the least see eye to eye enough to properly work together. It worried him, but he knew the fate of the Allied Shinobi Forces rested on their ability to work together, and that laced a tremendous amount of pressure on Naruto. It also continued to add more friction between Naruto and Kurama, since the former had been getting more and more frustrated at the fox's inability to work with him.

With Naruto

The blonde Hokage was found meditating by a cliff overlooking the sea, since his time training on the turtle island he had specifically made this area his favorite meditation and thinking spot. Like the way he used to sit on the Yondaime's head at the Hokage Monument back when he was in Konoha.

Despite tremendous pressure on Naruto to train he found it quite refreshing and invigorating to simply sit down and meditate, it made a lot of things much clearer for him and it was in these moments he could recollect himself. He could even for an hour or two simply remove himself from all the pressure placed upon him.

Though Naruto could only sigh at the frustration mounting at his inability to perform the perfect synchronization with his Bijuu to allow a perfect Jinchuuriki Mode. So far, the fox had been extremely stubborn he and Naruto argued regularly.

On one side Naruto always tried to get Kurama open up to him and work together, but even Naruto admits he could go about things better. The fox has continuously tested his patience and as a result sometimes the blonde would do things in a much more aggressive approach than required.

Whereas Kurama on the other hand was simply far too prideful to accept help from Naruto or even work together with him. The fox believed that his power alone was enough to combat and battle Madara Uchiha and the rest of the Akatsuki. He was the strongest Bijuu for a reason but that title had begun to inflate his ego far too much and so he rejected any form of help.

Naruto gazed upon the sea, as complicated things were, he felt like he would eventually win the fox over. He believed that he simply needed a brand-new approach on confronting the fox. But then the blonde Hokage remembered a small conversation he had with Gyuki, someone who would've known Kurama far better than anyone else.

Flashback

Naruto was walking away from his usual meditation spot fuming with rage, Bee who had been watching over him as he confronted Kurama in his mindscape sighed at seeing Naruto's reaction. He knew from his walk alone that it was another unsuccessful attempt, Kurama really was as stubborn as Gyuki said.

"Another argument with foxy?" asked Bee.

Naruto glared back at Bee, "What gave you that idea?" he asked sarcastically.

"Yikes what crawled up your butt?" replied the rapping ninja.

The blonde breathed in and out to calm himself down, "Sorry Bee it's not your fault, it's just that this stubborn ass fox is really starting to piss me off" he exclaimed.

Bee nodded in understanding, "Don't think that this was going to be easy Naruto bro, it took me years myself to get the trust and work together with Gyuki. This sort of connection doesn't just happen instantly so don't be so hard on yourself fool" he replied.

Naruto sighed in frustration, "I know its just that many lives are depending on this" he answered in a somber tone.

Gyuki then took over Bee and spoke to Naruto personally, "Naruto I understand where you're coming from don't worry but my older brother is different than the rest of my other siblings. He's the strongest from all of us and so he has a lot more pride and take it from someone who's known him for centuries, he acts like he's tough deep down inside he's a sensitive soul" he said.

Kurama stirred within Naruto as he growled in annoyance as a direct result of what the Hachibi had just said, "Trying to act like the rational one again Gyuki?" he growled to himself.

"The death of our father affected Kurama far more than he would let you think. Kurama was extremely close with father and he idolized him, when he passed Kurama was heartbroken. Since then he has closed his heart, he doesn't want to feel the cruel sting of seeing his loved ones pass. In a way this is immortality's greatest punishment".

Naruto nodded in understanding, "I guess for someone who's been around forever you would have seen and experienced some really messed up stuff. It's hard for me to imagine myself in his shoes but I can now definitely understand him a little bit more. There's just so many layers to this" he replied.

"This is only the tip of the iceberg Naruto" said Gyuki, "Would it be alright if I could join you in your mindscape. I'd like to speak to Kurama".

"Sure thing" Naruto answered hesitantly, he was a bit skeptical since he had just had a bit of a spat with the fox. But then again, the Gyuki was his brother, so he may be able to speak some sense into him.

Bee and Naruto bumped fists transporting both into Naruto's mind.

Naruto's Mindscape

Gyuki stood in front of his brother, with both Naruto and Bee standing by his side.

"What brings you here?" growled Kurama as he bared his fangs at his three visitors.

Gyuki sighed in annoyance remembering his brother's irritable nature, "Listen Kurama I only want to talk" he said before glancing at the two Jinchuuriki, "In private if you two don't mind".

Naruto tried to protest but Bee knew it was best for them to leave, so he grabbed Naruto and they left the two to have their talk.

"Smart move getting those brats out of our way, now tell me the reason behind this unexpected visit brother?"

"You need to stop giving that boy a hard time, he is a genuine person. You and I both can see it, you know who he really is, we've seen this before in the past Kurama. I know you feel you've been wronged by him in a past life but he's not the same person as he was then" pleaded the Hachibi.

The Kyuubi roared in the face of his brother, "What makes you sure about that? It was him who first imprisoned me, then it was his descendants, and then his own father. His whole entire existence is the reason I've been stuck in a cage for so long".

"Enough with the victim card Kurama, you and I know why the humans feared us. For a time, we terrorized them, we destroyed them for pleasure. If we were in their shoes I'm sure we would've done the same. But that's all in the past Naruto is offering you an actual future. How do you think our father would feel if he saw you now, you're wallowing in your own self-pity? This is not the Kurama that I now"

"Do not mention that man in my face".

"You and I know you don't mean that, you love our father and he loved all of us" admonished Gyuki, "You can feel the same thing I do Kurama. You can feel the potential in this boy. If you open your eyes for once and look past your quest for vengeance, you will see that this boy is the boy our father talked about. He is the one to bring peace. He is the Child of Prophecy".

Kurama snorted, in truth he had had this thought for quite a while now. Probably since his battle with Pein, but he wouldn't dare admit it to anyone else.

"That blind old fool was always too gullible" he muttered in soft tone unlike him.

Gyuki shook his head, he knew just how much their father really meant to Kurama. But he presumed that thousands of years of treatment from humans would've made him bitter and resentful.

"This isn't just about you know Kurama. The whole world is riding on this, if we are captured we will revert to the tree. Just please give that boy a chance, he is our greatest hope of survival. He carries the blood of our father, and the soul of our brother. This has happened time and time again in the past, I'm sure you knew a long time ago that this boy wasn't just a normal everyday human. This is just history rewriting itself Kurama, Asura and Indra, Hashirama and Madara, Naruto and Sasuke"

"I've already taken part in this war if you don't remember. I was used by Madara to attack Hashirama. Although Asura's spirit won once again I was left sealed in his wife even though I was forced into this battle. Then if you also recall he went on to hunt us and he sealed all of us and split us apart among the nations. He may have Asura's soul, but it was still him responsible for the reason why were locked in these cages. He led the humans to fear us, and in time they abused us by turning us into weapons for their personal gain. So, I'm sorry if I'm not exactly fond of humans"

"That was a past life of his, he was Hashirama he wasn't Naruto yet. You need to give Naruto a chance as Naruto and not Hashirama. Think of this…what if he's different?" he asked rhetorically, "Our father foretold long ago that a human will come along one day to unite all of us once more, maybe just maybe that human is Naruto Uzumaki". Replied Gyuki as he was beginning to lose his patience.

"That old fool is blind" replied Kurama causing his brother to shake his head in disappointment.

"You're betraying the ideals of our father"

"The old fool betrayed us when he left us to fend for ourselves in this cruel world"

"One day you'll change your mind, let's just hope it won't be too late when you do" replied the Gyuki as he proceeded to exit Naruto's mindscape. He wasn't surprised the talk ended, his brother always had quite the temper. But he hoped that he at least appealed to Kurama's inner heart. He knew his brother was not overly cruel, he was just bitter over the centuries of imprisonment and control.

Many Months Later

The initial few weeks after the tense talk between Gyuki and Kurama, the latter had been a bit more hostile than usual to his host. It made training with the fox a bit unbearable at times, but the hostility decreased in time. The talk with Gyuki seemed to have a lasting impact on Kurama since not too long after the period of hostility he began to rethink about his ways. Surprisingly not that long after that he began to cut the boy a bit of slack.

He still wasn't completely ready to bestow all his powers onto Naruto, but their relationship began to improve little by little, day by day. They weren't friends yet in any sense of the word, but they were at least beginning to be a bit more civil with one another during their conversations. Naruto made it a mission to speak to Kurama at least once a day for one hour to keep him company and try to get to know him. Kurama was annoyed at this at first but he knew there was nothing he can do to stop it.

Throughout his time training with Bee he had been progressing in skill at a tremendous rate. His elemental manipulation training was proving effective largely in part to his many shadow clones. Alongside of his elemental training, a large part of this was Yamato who was gracious enough to help Naruto train his water and earth elements.

Other than that Naruto also focused a large portion of his training onto shurikenjutsu, Senjutsu, toad techniques, Fuinjutsu, barrier Ninjutsu, Space and Time Ninjutsu, chakra control and Taijutsu. He was fortunate to have a wide array of skilled teachers in his disposal.

Yamato as previously mentioned worked helped train his elemental manipulation, Sakura helped in his chakra control, Gai trained him in Taijutsu, and Fukasaku and Shima helped for the other techniques. Naruto was getting more and more powerful by the day, but despite his growth he knew if he wanted to stand a chance against Madara and the Akatsuki there was one vital piece missing, he needed Kurama's help.

Despite the maturation and growth Naruto displayed since his appointment as Hokage, a few things remained the same with the boy, one of those things being his impatience. Naruto wanted to return already to help in the war, but he promised that to be able to leave he first had to master the Jinchuuriki Mode.

With a heavy sigh Naruto decided it was time to speed up the process, he had been bonding with the fox little by little over the course of the year and he could tell he was inching closer to his goal. But they were still lacking that final push. It was now or never, time was of the essence especially with this war raging on.

Naruto then concentrated heavily in a meditative position before transporting himself into his own mindscape, he opened his eyes to find himself in front of Kurama once more.

"Hey Kurama, I came here to have a…"

But before he could finish his sentence the fox interrupted him abruptly, "I already know why you came, I've been expecting this for a while now" he said.

Akatsuki Base

Obito stood in his lab looking through his various experiments, alongside him were the members of Akatsuki, all watching in intrigue as he explained their plan of attack. The Zetsu clones had been instrumental in their plans, with the Zetsu clones they managed to scour and gather DNA samples of some of the greatest shinobi this world has ever known. Despite the resistance put forth by the Allied Shinobi Forces, the endless amount of Zetsu clones were able to complete their mission with relative ease.

The sensor squads sent by the Allied Shinobi forces to guard these samples had been an early hindrance to the Akatsuki, but thankfully the Zetsu clones were able to sneak past despite these setbacks. They were able to mask their chakra quite well, especially considering the fact they barely had any chakra to begin with, and with that they managed to infiltrate many areas without detection. In a way this made them one of Akatsuki's greatest assets.

These DNA samples in return allowed Akatsuki to make an undead army filled with history's greatest warriors. There was hundreds and hundreds of revival samples, all of which are at least Jonin level in strength, with some reaching the power of Kages. A powerful tool, powerful enough to tip the scales of war to their end.

"So, who are the ninjas we are able to revive with these samples?" questioned Kisame.

Obito had a psychotic grin plastered to his face, "Funny you ask that Kisame, some of your old teammates from the Seven Swordsmen are going to be among our undead army. Aside from them I've recovered old Akatsuki members along with other deceased rogues, notable Jonins such as Sakumo Hatake, Pakuro of Suna, and Gari of Iwa's famous Explosive corps, to name a few" he remarked before taking the impressed looks of his subordinates.

"So, what are else are we waiting for then? Let's fucking go" excitedly exclaimed Suigetsu.

"Patience Suigetsu" replied Obito, "There are still a few more things we must settle before we begin the war. We need to gather more troops, funds and resources to our cause. Besides there are also a few more DNA samples we have to recover to fully ensure our victory".

"Hn, and who could those possibly be?" asked Sasuke.

"The dead Kages" replied Obito, he looked around the room and noticed the wide shocked eyes of his fellow Akatsuki members. "This will be the final step and if we can acquire these samples then the alliance will stand no chance against us. Unfortunately, we have yet to locate much of the samples, at the moment we only have the Third Kazekage's remains, but I have sent out clones to gather as much information about their whereabouts"

Obito then turned to Sasuke, "I also want you to personally retrieve the remaining DNA samples with your team. It's safe to assume that those samples will be heavily guarded from now after the reports of them going missing has begun to spread around the alliance" he ordered in a stern tone.

"So far, I've gathered information on the locations of a few Kages, but know this Sasuke this mission will take you a long time. You'll have to be on the run for a while, we can't risk you bringing a pursuer back to base. After every samples you acquire, I suggest you lay low for a while, don't rush things. Just make sure you gather the DNA samples and don't ever compromise Akatsuki or yourself".

"How long shall I be gone for?"

"Probably at least a year, maybe even two"

"Hn, very well. When do we leave?" asked the young Uchiha.

"Immediately" Obito answered bluntly.

Sasuke nodded before standing up from his seat, he glanced at Jugo and Suigetsu who were both sitting beside him during the small meeting.

"Gather your stuff, meet me by the gates in an hour" he ordered as the two nodded their heads. The three Akatsuki members dispersed from the meeting area to return to their rooms within the base.

Sasuke walked over to his personal bedroom, it was a large room but very spacious seeing how Sasuke had always been the minimalistic type. He only really had a bed, dresser and a bookshelf full of scrolls, guides and personal notes, and a crib. He walked over to the crib and he glanced over the miniscule raven-haired baby comfortably sleeping.

Sasuke was traditionally an emotionless individual but in that instance, he couldn't help but smile fondly at the tiny bundle of joy that he helped create. He reached over to gently caress the baby's chubby cheeks. This stirred the baby to slowly awaken from his slumber, his eyes fluttered open to reveal crimson red eyes, eyes that greatly resembled his mother's.

Sasuke began to soothe the baby back to sleep with the gentle caress of his hands, "Sleep for now Itachi. Unfortunately, I won't be here for a while to watch you grow, but when I come back, I expect to see a strong young boy." he said before sighing sadly.

He wasn't particularly the best at parenting himself, it was times like these that he wished Karin was still with them. She unfortunately passed during labor, but at least she managed to birth a healthy baby boy. Sasuke himself couldn't say he loved Karin, but he was quite fond of her in the end, fond enough to consummate a child with her. Since her death he had come to regret his previous mistreatment of her especially after she gave him the greatest thing to happen in his life, his son Itachi.

Sometimes Sasuke still thinks to himself if he even chose the right side in the war. He didn't want his son to live the life of a criminal, if the alliance heard about him consummating a son there'll be hell to pay for little Itachi. His son will be punished for the sins of his father.

But there was nothing more Sasuke could do, what's done is done and now his only concern is to fulfill his goal of creating everlasting peace. A world where his won't have to face the harsh realities of life, the same way he had to. A world where the Uchiha can flourish once more. He had to complete this goal, for himself, his son and his brother.

A few stray tears rolled down Sasuke's cheeks, "I know I have my faults Itachi, but I cannot abandon my mission no matter what. I know I won't be able to watch you take your first step, or say your first word, but I know that no matter what happens you will grow to be a great man, a great man like your uncle".

With a heavy sigh he exited the room but not before planting a small kiss on his son's forehead and wiping the tears off his face.

Sasuke walked out onto the base's entrance and there he met with the two other remaining members of Team Taka, Suigetsu and Jugo.

"You ready to go Sasuke?" asked Suigetsu.

Sasuke turned to his teammate and nodded, "It's time we head off, I want us to come back as quick as possible" he replied.

Jugo smiled softly, despite Sasuke's tough exterior he knew that his son Itachi had begun to claw at the stoic man's stone heart.

"Don't worry Sasuke we'll come back in one piece, and when we do, we'll get to see how strong little Itachi has become. If he's anything like his parents, he'll grow to be a fine ninja" remarked Jugo.

A small smile tugged on the corners of Sasuke's lips, "Let's not waste any more time" he said before running off into the horizon.

Suigetsu and Jugo chuckled, "Despite the stick up his ass he's a bit of a softy from time to time" said the rogue Kiri nin before running out to catch up with the Uchiha.

Jugo smiled softly as he watched his two teammates, he glanced over to the setting sun and sighed melancholically.

'It doesn't feel the same without you Karin, but you're in a better place now. Don't worry I'll keep my promise to you, I'll do my best to watch over Sasuke' he thought to himself before racing off to join Sasuke and Suigetsu.

Naruto's Flashback

A young fifteen-year-old Naruto sat by a pond resting with his perverted sensei Jiraiya, the two had just completed a rigorous training session which left both student and teacher extremely fatigued. The two had found themselves in a small remote village within the Land of Rivers. They had been travelling for days and days during this extensive training trip.

Jiraiya sighed before glancing over at his student, "Hey Naruto" he said catching the attention of the young orange clad genin.

"Yeah?" he asked.

"Do you know what's the most powerful ability a single person could have?" he asked.

Naruto sat up to stare at his sensei, "What brought this up?" questioned the young boy.

"I've just been noticing things about you and I was wondering if you could tell what it was, because from I've seen so far you seem to have that ability"

Naruto's eyes widened in excitement, "So is it some jutsu or something? The Rasengan is it? Oh, or is it shadow clones?" he listed.

Jiraiya shook his head and chuckled at the boy's one-dimensional thought process, "No none of those actually, it's not even a jutsu" he replied.

"Huh so what is it then?"

"It's actually the ability to talk" he answered before chuckling at his student's dumbfounded expression.

"Talking? Everyone can do that how is that a powerful tool?"

"Well as the saying goes the pen is mightier than the sword?" Jiraiya cryptically replied.

The young blonde sat there with a confused expression marring his face. "The pen is what?" repeated Naruto.

"The pen is mightier than the sword, it's an old proverb. One day you'll understand what it means"

"Whatever you say you old pervert"

With Naruto

The young blonde woke from his state of tranquil meditation, 'Even now you continue to teach me you old pervert. Arigato Jiraiya-sensei' he thought to himself.

Naruto was brought out of his musings as he remembered just where he was exactly, he was standing face to face with the Kyuubi, Kurama within Naruto's own mindscape.

"You seemed adamant about recollecting yourself for a moment, have you found your answers?"

Naruto nodded his head as he faced the fox, "Kurama I may be Hokage, but to be honest with you sometimes I feel like a failure. Despite promising to Sakura-chan that I will would bring Sasuke back, I failed. Despite retrieving Gaara from the Akatsuki, we couldn't save him in time initially. Despite defeating Pein, all of Konoha had been destroyed and my sensei had lost his life. I know I shouldn't think like this but sometimes I can't help myself" he said as he began to pour his heart out to the greatly surprised Kurama.

"Where is this going exactly? Spare me your sob life story" growled the fox.

"What I'm trying to say is that sympathize with you, I don't if you feel like a failure as well, but I know enough to realize that you've been hurt yourself. You've seen people you love pass on and leave you, you've been turned into a weapon and corrupted by human society. I may not fully understand the feeling as much as you, but I sympathize. We've both been through a lot, and I know what you've done to my family and my village…and yet I don't hate or resent you. I've forgiven you a long time ago, and believe it or not I don't want to just use you as a weapon against Madara. I want use to be friends, I want us to work together, I want us to be partners"

Kurama snarled as he bared his fangs towards Naruto, but the young stood there unaffected by Kurama's actions. The fox did his best to sense any falseness in his statement and yet he couldn't find anything other than sincerity.

"What makes you sure none of that will change eventually, I've been betrayed before, how can I know I can fully trust you?"

Naruto chuckled softly, "To be honest you can't, there will always be the possibility that I turn on you" he replied.

"You're not making the most convincing argument at all with what you're saying"

"I know, but it is the truth" he said before staring intently into Kurama's glaring eyes, "Look Kurama, I know you've been betrayed and hurt before, but I have no intention of ever deceiving you or betraying you. I came here to make peace with you, I want us to leave everything in the past buried into the past. I want us to walk together as partners, friends and equals into the future. Kurama I came here because I realize that the only way you can believe me is if I show you how serious I am".

Naruto formed a few hand seals before finishing it off with a fierce clap, suddenly the gates holding back the Kyuubi opened once more.

Kurama realized what the boy was doing, "Do you understand what you just did? Nothing is standing in the way of the two of us. If I really wanted to, I can easily try to control or kill you and gain my freedom back. Just how foolish are you boy?" the fox yelled in disbelief.

Naruto nodded, "I understand the repercussions of what I did, now you can escape anytime you want. If we are to be partners, we need to be on equal terms, I did this because now it means you too can betray me the same way I can betray at any one moment" he explained cryptically.

Kurama laughed loudly, "You really are a gutsy little brat, I have to admit brat you got some balls. You have to be one of the most reckless people I've ever met" he said.

The Hokage smirked at the fox, "It seems to have worked though, you have yet to attack me".

Kurama's laughter ceased before levelling down to meet Naruto eye to eye, "You are a fool and an idiot, but that aside I'm impressed just how far you're willing to go for this".

"I'll do whatever it takes, and Kurama after we defeat Madara as partners I promise I'll find a way to release you from your prison without resulting in my death"

The fox's eyes widened in shock, he rarely saw the brat this serious or sincere and to be honest he was moved by the boy's sentiment. Maybe there was point in sticking by him for a little while longer, how would it hurt him? He was immortal after all.

This boy had piqued his interest, he hadn't met an individual like Naruto yet. He was incredibly bewildered at the sincerity of the boy, he practically offered him his own life as a sign of trust. Only a fool would do something this reckless, and yet that action alone managed to sway Kurama. He was impressed by the young man's resolve, he hadn't met a man like this since Asura himself. Maybe just maybe his father had been right about his prophecy.

'You really are one of a kind Naruto, you really do remind me of him' the fox thought to himself. Kurama then extended a fist towards Naruto's direction. Naruto stood unflinching ready to take the attack if it were to come, but instead a small gust of wind breezed through his face as the fox's fist landed just a meter away from his entire body.

"Bump fists with me Naruto, I'll transfer my powers onto you" instructed Kurama.

Naruto smiled brightly at the fox before extending his fist, the two bumped fists and suddenly a surge of chakra engulfed Naruto. But it wasn't painful in any form, it was merely as warm as sunshine itself. Suddenly yellow flaming chakra began to surround Naruto's skin and body. The young blonde examined his body and he felt an incredible rush of power surging through him.

"What's happening to me Kurama?" asked Naruto.

"From now on we work together, you are freely using my chakra and as a result you are now in full Jinchuuriki Mode. We can synchronize the same way as Gyuki and that idiot Bee"

"That's amazing Kurama, I promise I won't let you down. Madara won't stand a chance against the two of us. Thank you for trusting me Kurama".

"Think nothing of it Naruto, as you said from here on we work as equals towards the same goal. But remember this Naruto, don't give me a reason to regret my decision. I have entrusted my powers onto you, I have put full faith in you. Don't let me down brat"

Naruto smiled at the fox, "Don't worry Kurama we will save this world, and after that I'll find a way to save you and your brothers and sisters" he said.

"Thank you, Naruto"

"Now that we're friends, I think it's time I learn a bit about you. You've lived in me my whole life so you pretty much me better than anyone else in this world, and yet I barely know a thing about you"

"You want to know stuff about me? You sure you want to hear this brat, I'm immortal this story will take a while"

"I got the time for it" he replied with a smile eliciting a small smirk from Kurama himself.
