Two weeks after that, Kyra was walking home like it was any other day. She had just got to her house when she noticed everything was eerily quiet. She looked around and saw not a soul on the entire street, like a ghost town, but there was something ominous about it. It was then that she heard a primal growl from behind her. She turned around and saw a bizarre creature staring back at her. It was the size and shape of a tiger, in fact it actually looked like a tiger except it was black with golden stripes. Kyra didn't have much time to ponder a about because the creature was looking at her like she was dinner. Kyra ran for us just as the creature pouched. Fortunately, it missed and Kyra ran to the front porch. As she thumbed for her keys the door opened and a blonde whirl of her sister Cheyenne pulled her into the house. "What's going on?" Kyra asked, then noticed that it wasn't just Cheyenne that was there. Her entire extended family, Reba her mother, Cheyenne's husband Van, their little daughter Elizabeth, Kyra's little brother Jake, her father Brock, her stepmother Barbra-Jean, and her half-brother Henry, all huddled in the dining room.
"What's everyone doing here?" Kyra asked, now officially freaked out.
"What does it look like Kyra?" Van demanded dramatically, steeping out from the huddle, "We're hiding from the thing out there that wants to eat us!" He pointed towards the window. As if on cue, there was the sound of something throwing itself against the widow, the curtains moving slightly revealing the creature. "Ah!" The entire family screamed and recoiled. Luckily, it didn't break through.
"Where'd it come from?" Kyra asked.
"Not it, them ," Reba said, stepping forward, "The big one case your dad and Barbra-Jean, and for some reason they came here so it could eat all of us, and then a smaller one shows up. We've been hiding in here ever since. As for where they came from, we have no clue."
"Did you call 911?" Kyra asked ,walking over to the ground.
"Yeah, hours ago," Reba said, "I'm starting to think they didn't believe us."
"It might've helped if you hadn't told him we were under attack by black gold-stripped tigers," Brock quipped.
"That's not helping, Brock," Reba retorted, "If you're going to shoot off your mouth could you at least say something useful?"
"Guys, can we focus here?" Kyra said, bringing them back to the problem, "What are we gonna do about the strange creature who want to have us dinner?"
As if on cue, there was the sound of wheezing whirling engines, and a blue box materializing in the living room. A very familiar blue box. "No way," Kyra gapped.
"Again?" Reba exclaimed, "Really?"
"You've seen this before?" Cheyenne asked, pointing at the box.
At that moment a tall gangly man in a brown suit stepped out, looking around in surprised. "Oh," The Doctor said, "You again. And there's more of you."
The Doctor had been flying through the time vortex, trying to decide where he wanted to go, and beeping got his attention. He went over to the monitor and saw it was some sort of animal tag. On closer examination it looked like the tag was on Fellop, an endangered species on the planet of Ra. On its own that wouldn't have been odd, but it looked like the tag single was coming from Earth. Huston Texas, to be exact. Realizing that something was amidst, the Doctor homed in on the signal and headed for Earth.
Which was how he wound up in the Heart's living room, looking at someone he never expected to see again.
"You know this guy?" Brock asked, wanting to know what was going on.
"He short of crashed his ship into the back yard," Kyra explained, "He was hurt and sick so I brought him inside."
"And you were okay with this?" Brock asked, looking at Reba in surprise. Reba had always been the more level-headed one and letting a mysterious stranger into her home was so...well, unlike her.
"Hey, I was asleep, I didn't know about any of that until it already happened," Reba defended herself, "And I got him out of here as fast as possible."
"Yes, and I am very appreciative for all the help." The Doctor interjected.
"Grateful enough to help us with a couple of weird-looking tigers who've trapped us in the house and are currently trying to eat us?" Kyra asked.
"Black with gold stripes?" The Doctor asked.
"Yes," Kyra answered, "How did you know?"
"I traced a signal from a couple of animal tags here," The Doctor explained, "What we're dealing with here is called a Fellop, an endangered carnivore from another planet."
"Okay, but can you get them the heck out of my yard?" Reba cut in.
"Yes," The Doctor said, "I just need to get the right equipment." And then turned back around into the TARDIS. When he came back he was carrying what looked like a hunting rifle.
"You're gonna shoot them?" Kyra asked.
"Well, it's just a trank gun," The Doctor told her, "I don't like actual guns, and whoever tagged those two will probably be upset if I killed them. Now, you might want to get back, because I'm gonna have to open the door to get out."
The entire Heart family crammed into the coroner of the dining room as the Doctor steeped out of the house.
The Doctor looked around for any sign of the creatures. A few seconds later one of them lumbered in from of the porch. He aimed his gun at the creature and it growled at him, getting ready to pounce. The Doctor, somewhat unsure as he had never used this trank riffle before, pulled the trigger at the animal. It hit it in the shoulder and the Fellop fell down asleep almost instantly. At the point the other one, bigger than the first, probably a male, came running towards him. The Doctor got a shot off into the animal's back. It didn't work on him as quickly as it had with the female, because he was larger, but still he was out within a few seconds. "Blimmy, that's strong stuff," The Doctor commented, eyes glancing at the gun. As he put it down he realized now he had another problem. How was he going to drag these two large, unconscious predators into his TARDIS? And where would he put them once he got them in there? It wasn't as if he had a cage he could put them in, and when they woke up they would not be happy with him. Then he got an idea. He walked back into the house and said, "Excuse me, you two lads."
Van and Brock turned to look at him. "Yeah?" Brock said.
"You two look pretty strong how 'bout you help me lug these Fellops inside?" The Doctor asked, "And Kyra, do you have any more of that rope?"
And so Brock and Van helped the Doctor carry the two Fellops with their paws bound into the TARDIS. "Man, have you seen inside that thing?" Van asked, walking out of the TARDIS and pointing into the interior, "It's like-bigger on the inside and filled with weird stuff. It's like...weird."
"What an eloquent way of describing it," Kyra said sarcastically.
The Doctor smirked at the snarky comment. "I better get these back to wherever they belong."
"Thanks for the help Doctor," Kyra said.
"Don't mention it," The Doctor said, "After all, you helped me when I need it."
"But how did they get here?" Kyra asked, "I mean, did someone set them down here on purpose? Was there some sort of accident?"
"I don't know," The Doctor replied, "But you can bet that I am going to find out." And with that, the Doctor walked into the TARDIS and shut the door behind him.
"You're not getting away this time," Kyra said under her breath and then leaped up and bound towards the TARDIS, flung the unlocked door open, ran in, and slammed it behind him, causing the Doctor to look up from the console. "What do you think you're doing?" The Doctor demanded, walking over to Kyra as a chorus of her name from various people came from outside.
"Coming with you," Kyra said.
"No, you're not," The Doctor said, "I'm not picking up hitchhikers at the moment."
"These things nearly kill us and I want to know who responsible," Kyra argued.
"Then I'll come back and tell you but you're not coming with me," The Doctor said, but at that moment he heard a familiar wheezing sound that told him he might not have a choice. ""No, no, no!" The Doctor said running over to the console and hitting anything he could, "I know you don't like my decision to travel alone, but this really isn't the solution! I mean, her entire blended family's out there and they are going to be furious!"
But it was too late. They were already gone.
