The Vault Hunters found themselves in a large room within the Bloodshot's dam. Lots of wrecked cars and a few buses are scattered around in a few spots. Up ahead are a few vending machines and a Fast-Travel. "You're in? Great. Roland should be around there somewhere. I'm sure you guys can handle yourselves, but if anything happens to Roland... make sure nothing happens to Roland." Lilith gets off the Echo.
"She really wants us to save him." Said Gaige. Able to pick up on the light pleading tone in Lilith's voice. Turning to face the red head, Raven says, "Well they were once boyfriend and girlfriend. It's possible she still has feelings for the guy." Waving his arm in a forward motion. Axton says, "Come on guys. We won't save him by just standing in this room."
Restocking up on ammo at the vending machine, the seven of them walk up some nearby steps. About several feet away is a large room filled with some bandits walking around. The floor in the room is flooded by a few feet of water and walking in said water are a few of the bandits. All six of the Vault Hunters were ready to open fire, but Raven holds up her gloved hand. "Wait." She whispered and pulls out a shock grenade and chucks it forward.
It lands into the water with a loud sploosh sound, catching the Bloodshot's attention. In a few seconds the grenade goes off and shocks the water along with the bandits. They all watched as they heavily twitched and made random sounds with their mouths. When it all stopped, the now dead bandits fell face first.
Quickly they rushed in and killed the ones they were standing up on concrete walkways built two feet off the ground. Moving onward and entering into a room that was turned into a lounge. The leader of the Bloodshot gets on the Echo, though this time he isn't speaking to them. "Look here, Hyperion - I'm not asking for much for Roland! A million bucks! Hello? This thing on?"
Not long after Lilith speaks to them again, "You guys handling the Bloodshots alright? They've they've been trying to take Roland out ever since he kicked their asses out of Sanctuary. I shoulda seen it coming."
"She makes it sound like it's her fault he got caught." Said Maya while reloading her bandit SMG. Salvador glances at the bluenette, "She did tell us it was her job to keep the bandits in the area in check. That's a tough job already and you got to count the fact she was going under a alias. Keeping an identity from your enemies a secret is hard."
Everyone gave him a mild surprised look. "What? I read lots of comics when I was kid." After learning that little fun fact about the gunzerker. The seven Vault Hunters exit the lounge and enter in another room. Machines are still doing their jobs even though whatever they needed to do in now moot. Raven aims her Dahl pistol at a psycho and opens fire.
A clean head-shot. The other bandits started shooting back. A nomad raises his fist in the air, "Throw grenades!" The marauders did what they told and chucked a few at the Vault Hunters. They scattered but Raven's shields still took a hit. "You lost?" Said a Bruiser. Walking up some steps from the right side. He fired his Hyperion shotgun at her.
The shells were eating away at her shields and she had no time to aim her gun properly and kill him. But luckly Zero uncloaks himself and slashes the buffed up bandit across his belly with his sword. Red guts started to fall out and the Bruiser held them in his hands, trying to put them back in. But soon he falls to the ground. Ducking behind some cover. Raven takes this moment to catch her breath and wait for her shields to recharge. "Thanks Zero."
He nods and scores a few head-shots with his Jakops pistol. Once her shields were fully charged, the bird named woman looks over her cover and kills the nomad with a few good burst shots. Just as the last bandit dies, a large door in the back opens to reveal a badass nomad and a few more marauders. "We got a badass!" Raven shouted.
Killing off the marauders was easy enough and they just repeated the same tactic they used on Badmaw outside the dam on the badass nomad. Though it was a tad bit more challenging as the Vault Hunters didn't have the freedom of outside to flank him all that much. But eventually the badass was killed. After some reloading and looting they pressed forward.
"Okay Hyperion - a hundred thousand bucks for Roland! Final offer! Echo me back and let's negotiate already!" Said the leader over the Echo channel. "Hyperion wants Roland, bad - even if they don't buy him from the Bloodshots, they'll be coming for him. Better hurry!" Informed the Firehawk.
Entering into a long room, the bandits look notice of them and fired their guns. "GRIND GRIND GRIND! KILL KILL KILL!" Krieg went nuts and charged in. Butchering any bandit in his ways. On a platform, a marauder gets on a turret and turns it to aim at the psycho. But a bullet to the head prevented him from doing that.
Zero pulled the lever on his sniper and fired again. Scoring another head-shot. Under a minute the area is clear of enemies. Pushing forward some more, the room they entered into is large and cylindrical, dominated by a giant outflow whirlpool of water in the center. Lots of Bloodshots walking about, tough looking ones too. "We must be getting closer to Roland. Their forces are getting meaner looking." Gaige whispered to all of them.
Agreeing with a nod of his head. "Which means we should be careful when going further in." Said Axton. Everyone's Echos go off, "Look at those murderous Bloodshot. Don't you think Pandora would be better without their scum? That's all I wanna do - clean up this planet. If that means I've gotta kill bandits like you, like the Bloodshots - like those Crimson Raider idiots in Sanctuary? Hell - I'm happy to do it."
Raven couldn't help but shiver. She has met some bad people in her time as a merc, but nothing like Handsome Jack. There's something clearly wrong with this guy. "The resistance needs the info Roland gathered on the Vault. We know Hyperion wants it opened, but we don't know why. If you seven rescue Roland, we might have a chance at stopping Jack." Lilith explained.
The Vault Hunters crept in slowly. Walking on the lower level is another badass nomad. With a grin Maya picks him up with her powers and flings him into the whirlpool. His screams were quickly muffled by the water entering into his lungs. Raven sneaks up behind a clueless psycho. Unsheathing her knife, she gets him in a hold and slits his throat with her combat knife.
Carefully she places the dead body down to the ground. Zero does the same with another psycho. "I hate sneaking around. So boring, lets go in guns blazing." Suggested Salvador. Gaige and Krieg agreed with him. With big smiles on their faces, though Krieg's can't be seen.
Shaking his head, Axton speaks in a serious but whispered voice. "No. There's most likely bandits on the floor above us. If we let them know we're here they'll have the advantage of the high ground. I like a good fight as the next guy or gal but we also need to play smart." They all groaned out a fine. Maya pats the red head and psycho on the shoulders.
Walking up a ramp made out of rubble. The Vault Hunters reached the top level, so far the bandits up here didn't take notice of them yet. "Now you guys can have your fun." Said the commando.
Sal, Gaige, and Krieg ran pass the others. The short man jumps up to a level and aims his shotgun at a shocked marauder, "Say hello to my little friend!" He pulls the trigger and marauder flew backwards. Gaige catches a swing from a psycho with her cyborg hand. Giving it a nasty twist, the psycho's arm popped loudly and he screams out in pain.
The eighteen year old lets go, grabs him by the head, and slams it into the wall next to them. His body slide towards the ground, making a red trail on the wall. She turns to see how Krieg is doing. The buffed up psycho reloads his bandit pistol, behind him is a small pile of bodies.
Though that wasn't the end of the bandits on the upper level. A mix of psychos, marauders, and midget psychos started crawling out of crawl spaces in the walls. Everyone came up and killed them all. Moving towards a shutter door, it opens and a guy in white and red and wearing a miners hat walks out wielding a rocket launcher.
He aims and fires at one at them, "MOVE!" Raven shouted. Dodging the rocket and quickly getting back on their feet. Raven and Maya were the first to point their guns at him and pull the triggers. The bullets did little to the guy's shield, meaning he has a strong one. Raven could throw another one of her shock grenades. But that would require her to stop shooting her gun and they need to spray him with the bullets.
Because even though the bandit's shield is pretty strong. He can still feel the pressure of being hit by hundreds of rounds and he's being staggered by it. Preventing another rocket from being fired at them. The two women keep it up since both of their guns have huge magazines. Salvador pulls a pin and throws an explosive grenade at the man's feet. It explodes, knocking his shield out for good.
Reloading, Raven and Maya resume where they left off and the others joined in. Soon the bandit dies, his body riddled with bullet holes. Looting what he had, moving forward, and passing through the now opened shutter door. "Goddammit Hyperion! I didn't get half my men killed kidnapping the most wanted criminal on Pandora just so you could IGNORE me! How about fifty thousand bucks!" The Bloodshot leader sounded really frustrated.
None of them had time to comment on it as they killed more Bloodshots. All of them kept pushing forward, killing any bad guy in their way. "Somebody stop those skag suckers springin' Roland! We lose him, we lose our payday!"
Eventually the group find themselves in the prison section of the dam. "Umm, why is there a prison ward in a dam of all places?" The youngest Vault Hunter asked. Axton makes a grunting noise. "Dahl made this place, they put prison cells anywhere they can."
"And Roland is in one of them. Lets get him out quick!" Raven added to the conversation. All the cells were pretty much empty, save for the few that had a couple of dead rival bandits in them. But when reaching the end of the prison ward. In a cell is a dark skinned man wearing military clothes and a baret. The man lied flat on his back on a shabby looking bed. Standing a foot away from the cell bars. The man takes notice of them.
Sitting up and turning his torso in their direction. "Vault Hunters - good to finally meet you in person. Hell of a job fighting through those Bloodshots." He's clearly impressed with their combat skills.
Suddenly the wall to his cell exploded and a all too familiar Hyperion robot holding a Hyperion SMG walks in. "This'll just take a second." He said, not fazed by the fact that a robot sent to kill him just blew open a hole in his cell. Roland gets up and tackles the robot to the ground and rips out what appears to be the robots power core.
A second robot shows and he throws the core at it, causing an explosion. But then a third Hyperion robot, a model the Vault Hunters haven't seen yet till now. Rammed the commander with a metal shield. Roland hits the cell bars hard and curled up in a ball. The others were gonna help, but Roland holds up an arm of the first robot he killed that's still holding onto its gun and pulls the trigger.
The new robot was destroyed. "Holy crap! That was pretty badass, nice moves their soldier!" Axton exclaimed with a grin. "That was awesome!" Sal too exclaimed but a little more loudly. It couldn't be seen since Roland's front isn't facing them, but a small smiled tugged at his lips.
Tossing the arm to the side, "Thanks, now that's done. Let's see about getting out of here -" Out of nowhere a giant greenish-blue robot with a single red eye appears behind Roland and the big hole in the wall. It shoots out a beam of blue energy that catches the leader's legs and starts pulling him towards it.
He grabbed onto the bars to resist but the robot shot a few more blue beams of energy, grabbing his wrists and pulled them as well. "Let go of me dammit!" The others tried to grab him but it was too late. The robot has Roland and is flying away with him. "And that's how Handsome Jack pays ransoms! Long time to see, Roland."
With their combine strength. Krieg and Sal rip the door off its hinges and threw it to the side. All of them enter into the cell and exit through the hole. They now stand in a another part of the dam. It's huge and the roof has long since collapsed to do lack of care. Hyperion robots are seen killing off any bandits in the area. "It's a goddamn invasion!" Raven shouted over the gunfire.
"Son of a BITCH! They're taking him to the top of the dam - get there, quick!" Motioning her tattooed arm, Maya says. "You heard her. We got to save Roland!" They each dash forward, readying themselves for the big battle to save the one chance to beat Handsome Jack.
