CHAPTER 20

A MEMORIAL FOR KAI

SENSEI`S POV:

Three days has passed since Kai has fought the battle between Smithee and his army. We decided to hold a memorial for him in his honor. Using the garden in the backyard, we held a service. We placed a picture of Kai in front of the garden of the flowers we planted. I decided, as usual, to lead the memorial.

"Thank you all for coming to the memorial of Kai Smith," I said, "Friends and family, we are gathered here today to remember a young and wonderful man who risked his life to save not only the people, but all of Ninjago. A kind, honest and strong man who would do anything to protect the people he cares about. Allow us all to say a few words. I shall begin." I turned to face the picture of Kai. "Kai, I just wanted to say that I am glad to be the one to find you when you needed help. When your sister was in danger, did I just walk away and let you find her on your own? I made no such choice. I trained you to become what you are now. Not only did you fulfill so many things in life, but the most important thing that you did was save us all. That is what I call a true ninja." A tear fell from my eye as I turned toward everyone else. "Would anyone else like to say a few words?"

"I do," Nya said, walking up towards the garden, "I just wanna say thank you. Thank you for taking care of me and protecting me when I needed it the most. Thank you for risking your life to save us all. I would've done the same thing if you would've let me. Thank you for making that promise to Father. Now that your with him, I'm sure he's proud of you. Thank you for being the greatest brother a little sister could ever have. Thank you for loving me. I'll always love you." She cried as she finished speaking.

Zane walked up and said, "I do not have much to say, but I will tell you that you are the greatest brother I could ever ask for. May the Great Sensei be there for you and thank you for all that you have done."

"I may not have known you for very long, but I have always thought of you as a good friend," Zeah said, "Farewell, Kai. May the Great Sensei take care of you now."

"Thanks for being an awesome friend, Kai," Jay said, his eyes welling up with tears, "No one can ever replace the master of fire." He walked back over to the group and cried.

My daughter and nephew placed gifts on Kai`s photo and said, "Thank you, Kai, for saving us." They walked back over to the group.

Garmedon and Misako walked up to the garden.

"You are more than just a friend and brother to us," Misako said, "You are like a son to us. We shall never forget that."

"Never," Garmedon said, "You may be with the Great Sensei now, but your spirit shall always be in our hearts. Never forget the people that taught you the lessons that are important to learn. Never forget the people that care about you. May the Great Sensei help you through the times of a new life with him."

Cole was the last person to say anything. With a candle in his hand, he walked up to the garden and stared at the photo of Kai. "The last thing we've done for the past couple of weeks was fight. I wish I never did what I did. What you did was your doing, not mine. I was a creep, but I've learned my lesson. If it wasn't for brotherhood, nothing would've kept us from being friends. I know this may be too late to say, but I just want you to know that I'm sorry. I care about you as a brother. Nothing can change that. Nothing can ever replace you and nothing can ever separate this team. Nothing. There's a lesson that we can all learn from this. No matter what happens in life, you just have to keep going. It will always be fresh in your mind, but it's also important to look out for the future. As they always say, the past is the past, and the future is the future. Right now, your both the past and the future." Cole lit the candle as he said those calming and soothing words. "This candle will show you the path to the Great Sensei. You did this for Zane`s memorial. Now it's time to do it to yours. If you are to take a shortcut, take the shortcut into the life." He placed the candle on the holder of Kai`s photo. "Goodbye, Kai. Thank you for being the greatest brother anyone could ever have." With his eyes filled with tears, Cole walked back with the rest of the group.

I walked back into the center. "Thank you to everyone who said their final farewells and goodbyes to Kai. We will all miss him. I know I will. Let us thank the Great Sensei for watching over us on this day and for helping us cope with the loss of our friend."

"We thank you, Great Sensei," we all said.

"Thank you all for coming to Kai`s service," I said, "Let us all go back inside and enjoy our day of peace and remembrance."

We all went back inside. After Zane cooked us dinner, we all settled down to bed. I went inside my daughter's room to say good night.

"Good night, Daddy," Monica said.

"Good night, Monica," I said.

"How long will it be until everyone is back to their daily lives?"

"It will take some time, sweetheart, but I'm sure everything will be normal again soon."

"I may not have known Kai for that long, but I know well enough that deep inside his heart, he's a good person. Just like you and everyone else are, Daddy."

"Why do you say that?"

"You all came to me when I had no one. Not only did I find Garmie, but I also found my daddy, and he's the greatest daddy in the world."

"I'm glad you feel that way." I kissed her on the forehead. "Good night, Monica."

"Good night, Daddy." She fell asleep in less than a minute.

I left out of my daughter's room and walked towards mine. A tear had left my eye when I thought about Kai. There were times when Kai reminded me of my son. There will be a day when I find my wife and son. I just know it.

SMITHEE`S POV:

That pinheaded boy ruined everything. Why is it that when I try to take over Ninjago, someone always has to stop me? No matter. Only half my plan worked. Part of it was to get rid of the boy. That's the part I succeeded in. The other half was to form Ninjago into my own image. That's why I created the drill. I didn't know they would melt in extreme heat. No matter. However, I have my army working to build a new one. Their planning to make sure that it can make it through a billion degrees. I'm not sure how that's going to work, but I like it. If that's the only way to break Ninjago into seven parts, then I'll just have to go along with it. If this new drill works, then I can finally rule Ninjago the way I want to rule it. I can see myself now on my own throne room surrounded by servants, cooks and maids. I can't wait for my reign to begin.

General Larps, general of my army, came inside the throne room. "Sir, we found some remaining parts of the old drill. Would you like us to reinstall them into the new one?"

"No," I said, "If we do that, then how will we make it into a better and fast working creation?"

"They are still good parts. We could make them non-fire proof and make sure that the new drill will survive a billion degrees."

"How will you do that? Tell me."

"We have a plan, and we know for sure that it will work."

"I hope you know what your doing, Larps. Get back to the machinery room."

"Yes, sir."

I stood in my throne room, hoping that my army would make a better weapon this time. All I care about right now is taking over Ninjago. For years, I have been locked up in this cave. I've had it. The time has come for me to take over. I started the rise of the Smith family and I can make them fall easily. I already got rid of the firstborn son. Now all I have to do is destroy the real leader of the Smith's and control the entire family. I can't wait for my day to come.

KAI`S POV:

Where am I? Who am I? How did I get here? I can't remember anything. All I could remember was looking into a pair of red eyes and then I blacked out. Just like that. I had a lot of questions. Why am I in a grassy place surrounded by trees? Was I in a forest? I must be. It's covered in trees and grass. I think the line of dirt is the trail. I think I'm suppose to follow it. I may not remember anything, but the only way to find out where I am and who I am is if I find somebody who knows who I am. I can't think straight. I think I'm gonna go straight.

I saw a cloud of smoke from a distance. Was something on fire? Was it a house? Did it have a fireplace? I wasn't sure. The only way to find out is to go to the house or building. Maybe it was a building. Does someone live there? Did someone work there? Was I from there? I hope so. A person without a memory has to live somewhere close.

So many questions surrounded my head as I walked on the trail. Did I have friends? Did I have a family? Did I go to school? Do I have a job? Did I live in a house by myself or with other people? Did I live in a tiny little town or a large city? I had to think of three questions that I thought were important. Where did I come from? How old was I? What is my name? That's all I could think about. Maybe someone from this place that had a cloud of smoke rising from it would help me. I hope they would.

Do I have a family? I need to know for sure. Why can't I remember anything?

HOW SAD! THEY HADE A MEMORIAL FOR KAI. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DID THAT. THEY MAY NOT KNOW THIS, BUT KAI IS STILL ALIVE. SOMEHOW, HE WAS STILL ABLE TO LIVE. HOORAY!

THERE'S JUST ONE PROBLEM, THOUGH. KAI HAS AMNESIA. HE DOESN'T REMEMBER WHO IS HE OR WHERE HE CAME FROM. THIS IS BAD. I HOPE HE FINDS SOMEONE TO HELP HIM OUT.

LOOKS LIKE SMITHEE`S STILL TRYING TO RULE NINJAGO. NOW THIS CREEP WON'T STOP UNTIL HE'S THE RULER.

I HOPE YOU GUYS LOVE THIS CHAPTER.

PLEASE REVIEW.
