I'm Afraid I Love You
I'm still having a little writers block but I am trying to put everything I want to do into actual words. I want you as my readers to be able to see what I see when I draw these things out. I want every specific detail to be felt through each word spoken.
Chapter 21: Midoriko

There was a peaceful tranquility across the lands and for most it was welcomed but for others it was just the beginning before the storm. Times like these should be cherished, should simplify things but there are those that have been in battle and truly knew there was no peace during these times, that if they couldn't rectify the mistakes that were put across these lands then all would be lost. This is why Kagome couldn't sleep, couldn't rest, couldn't stop the thoughts that ran through her mind. She couldn't even begin to understand how true these thoughts were. So the young miko sat in her father dojo meditating.
'Akira, can I contact Midoriko? Can I speak to her?'
'You can. You must take the shards and project your soul into. Call her name and she will answer.'
'Is this wise to do? Should you risk this attempt?'
'I must. I need answers and she is only one of the people I can ask. My other questions that have been bothering me I will talk to Aunty Ai about.'
Kagome grabbed the shards that lay upon her chest and concentrated calling the miko. As she started the process she could a battle taking place, a battle that has been taking place for centuries.
"Midoriko, can you hear me?" Kagome called out as she waited for a response.
"I can you young one. Relax; I am not going to harm you. You have questions and I will try to answer all of them to the best of my abilities." A very tired Midoriko answered.
"Why was I chosen for this quest? Why not another miko? I just don't understand what made me so special to be gifted with this quest." Kagome exasperated.
At that Midoriko smiled, though it was a sad smile it was still a smile none the less before she explained, "Kagome, even now when you ask questions you do not call the jewel a curse but a gift. Why is that? You my sweet child are the only one with a heart and soul so pure could only conqueror this quest. You were chosen because you can't be swayed by these youkai's to do their bidding. Any other miko would have been consumed by the hatred or jealousy they may have. You see you not only have the lineage of your mother miko's blood but mine as well. I gave you most of my blood so you could survive. I am your godmother, and dearest friend to your parents."
"But I thought Kikyo was of your lineage. I held her soul as many other miko souls in my body. I figured that's why I resembled Kikyo." Kagome answered truthfully.
"No, Kikyo is not of my lineage for I have none but you. I have no children, I don't have any siblings but I did have kin. Kikyo resides from them. I am not sure why she looks similar to me so I can't answer that. As for why you hold many other miko souls is because you have the ability to harness their souls and power and if it ever comes a time when you will need their guidance they will come to you. Also, you do not look like Kikyo, you look like you. Now is the time for you to accept who you are, and what you are. You are the Shikon miko, you are a kitsune, and a black inu so never forget that." Midoriko explained.
"You're right but one last question why did you give me your blood?" Kagome asked truly serious.
"It was such a long time ago but I remember it as if it were yesterday. You gave us all quiet the scare that day. I thought I had lost you because of carelessness but you fought to stay alive, you fought to protect me. Even at such a young age you had the skills of a leader, as an alpha." Midoriko began.

"Come on godmother! You're moving to slow!" A young Kagome yelled from atop of a hill.
"How about you slow down young one? I can't move as fast as you can." Midoriko replied.
"But where's the fun in that? If I can't be me them who am I?" Kagome asked confused.
"You truly are wise beyond your years Kagome. I too wonder that same question from time to time. But I will not stop you from being who you truly are only you can do that."Midoriko confessed.
"I guess so, now can you say your poem? I know you said it was unfinished but I really like it." Kagome asked as they finally stopped in the middle of a flower bed with Kiara following close by.
"I suppose…" Midoriko finished before started again.

"That was beautiful." Kagome said wistfully
"Thank you Kagome." Midoriko answered.
"Truly it was a beautifully piece. But now that is over I wish to feed and that young pup over there is looking absolutely delicious." A dark raspy voice said.
"You will not touch the child. She is under my care and you will die for even looking at her." Midoriko replied coldly.
"How confident you sound for someone unarmed." The raspy voice spoke once more.
'Shit, how could I be so careless?'
"Why do you believe I am unharmed? Just because you see no weapon it does not mean that I can't kill you." Midoriko replied.
"So confident, so young, and so foolish but you will learn from your mistake soon enough. I will kill the child and then you will follow suit soon after." The man yelled before he charged.
At the very last second Midoriko through up a barrier and look back at Kagome who hid behind her.
"Kagome, you must run. You have to get out of here. I can't fight him if you're here I will only get distracted. So please go, run home." Midoriko explained as she struggled with her barrier.
Kagome shook her head, "I won't leave you. I just won't."
"Foolish child just go. I promise that everything will be okay. Now please go!" Midoriko yelled as her barrier shattered and the mysterious man grabbed her by her throat.
"Since you deny me my dinner you shall die first miko. But I will keep you at deaths door long enough so that you may watch me devour her." The man whispered in her ear.
"K-Kiara, go get her parents. Bring them here immediately. Hurry my friend hurry." Midoriko rasped.
"Let Her Go! Leave My Godmother Alone!" Kagome yelled as her eyes started to bleed red.
"You dare challenge me child as if you could truly win. Fine, come child. Show me what you have." The man challenged.
Before the man had chance to toss Midoriko to the side he felt a pain his back before it started to slowly expand through his body.
"You little wretch, you will pay dearly!" the man shouted as he managed to tear into Kagome's arm and leg.
Midoriko tried so hard to get up in time to reach her but couldn't with a dislocated arm that was bleeding from hitting a tree. But in the distance she could hear her parents, she hear their screams, and feel their oppressing youkai against her skin.
"Kagome my love, are you alright?" Luna questioned and just received a nod.
"Why have you done this? Who has sent you here?" Itachi questioned trying to sane long enough to get questions before he killed the bastard.
"No one has sent me I came on my own accord. I was simply passing by when I had seen these females and decided I would kill and eat them. But if I had known that the brat was a special I would have eaten her instead of playing with the miko." The man explained right before he fell to the ground dead.
When Itachi tried to approach the body it turned into ash and was blown away.
"Itachi, where is Midoriko?" Luna questioned as she finally looked away from her daughter.
"I-I am here sister." Midoriko whispered.
"Luna, take Kagome and ride on Kiara back home. I will carry Midoriko and I will not be far behind." Itachi explained before they all headed out.
As soon as they reached the castle they immediately rushed both Kagome and Midoriko into the emergency ward scaring all the inhabitants except for their healer.
"Karina, please they need your help." Luna huffed out exhausted.
"Please my lady calm ye self. It is not as bad as you truly think. I can smell if ye child and sweet Midoriko was at deaths door which they are not." Karina explained.
"I just have a dislocated shoulder and a gash on the same arm that is all." Midoriko explained.
"And what about Kagome?" Luna asked near tears.
"Nothing a few stitches can't fix and she will need a blood transfusion from her father and Midoriko if she is up to it." Karina explained as she got all the proper tools ready.
"B-but why not me? I am her mother after all." Luna questioned getting angry.
"Because you're pregnant you idiot and need to stay healthy for your pup." Midoriko whispered.

"Your mother is such a worry wart sometimes. She just kept yelling because I gave you a pint of my blood. She really did think that we were going to die. Even when everyone kept saying we were fine." Midoriko giggled.
"I had no clue. I don't even remember that." Kagome confessed.
At that Midoriko frowned before speaking, "You don't really remember much of anything do you? For that I'm sorry because I cannot restore your memory to you."
"It's okay because all that really matter is that I know who I am, where I come from, and I know I will always have those that I love beside me. My memories will come to me when it is time and seeing that right now isn't that time I'm happy either way." Kagome confessed.
"You truly are selfless child. I am glad to have seen you as you are now. I apologize for not being there when you needed me most. But do know that I will always be here for you and that I love you." Midoriko whispered as she began to fade in and out.
"The world needed saving and you stepped up to the bat and now it's my turn to take a swing. Just know it is alright that you couldn't be there for me as a kid I am just grateful you're here now. So I will leave and give you some added reiki before you go godmother." Kagome announced as she grabbed Midoriko hands.
"Until next time young one…" Midoriko said before she faded out.
'Baka, you okay?' Serenity questioned.
'Stop calling me that!'
'Yeah, she's okay.' Akira laughed.
'I received a lot of answers, found out who we are.'
'But we've always known who we were memories forgotten or not. We are Kagome…'
'Isis...'
'Higurashi'
'The Shikon Miko!'
