Eighteen: The Piano Rag
Narrator's P.O.V.
It was late at night, and the Warners, Max, Alyssa, and Matt were on the run from Scratchansniff, Hello Nurse, and Ralph again.
''The Warners and their friends have escaped ''catch them!'' ''nah nah nah nah!'' they shouted as they raced through the streets but not before watching Rita and Runt walk by.
Scratchansniff and Ralph tried to catch them in nets, but ended up running into each other while Hello Nurse followed behind them.
Ralph saw a can in the street and thought it could be the Warners. ''Shh'' but Yakko and Max popped out of a trashcan behind him. ''Tag your'e it!'' Ralp jumped up in the air scaring the heck out of him.
He looked in the trashcan but didn't see them anywhere. ''You can't catch us!'' Max said as they both made faces at him. He swung his net at them, ''I caught e'm doc! I got e'm!''
''Good for you.'' ''Good for me.'' He turned around, only to have Scratchansniff glaring at him ''you got me you big dummy!''
''Um, there are'' Hello Nurse said as the three saw them run into a theatre where a concert was happening. ''Get them!''
''Ralph you take the back Ms. Nurse, you take my breath away. No, no you take the side and I will go in the front.''
The Warners, Max, Alyssa, and Matt quickly ran inside pushing people out of their way as they ran to the side door.
Yakko opened it, and his eyes went wide when he saw Hello Nurse standing there. He shook his head, ''Goodbye Nurse'' he slam the door. ''Matt get your tongue off the floor'' Max said rolling her eyes.
''Huh?'' ''boys go fig'' Dot and Alyssa said in unison. They raced to the side door, only to run into Ralph ''duh got ya.'' ''Duh, not!'' Yakko said slamming the door in his face.
They peeked out of the curtain and saw six seats in front as they sat down. ''We'll hide in here till the coast is clear.'' They all nodded as the lights went down in the theatre and a pianist stepped on stage as everyone applauded.
''Ooh a magic show this outta be fun'' said Wakko Matt smiled, ''I like magic shows.''
The theatre quieted as the pianist,
Tympanini spoke ''Frans Schubert intended this schiatco to reflect the struggle between intellect and the creative process.''
Yakko gave him a weird look. ''Uhhh I don't think he's a magician'' ''sure he is this is just his set up'' Dot replied.
Wakko stood up, ''hey Mr. pull a rabbit out your pants!'' ''shh!'' everyone said and Max looked at them, ''what are ya leaky tires?''
Tympanini continued, ''However, Schubert was simply incapable of expressing such a delicate nuance. But, thanks to my genius I will perform his great work not as the composer wrote it but as he intended. Schubert's inter metzo andante alergo opus nine.
He walked to the piano, sat down on the stool and played a key on the piano. ''We're out of here.'' The Warners, Max, Alyssa and Matt raced out of the isle, before they saw Ralph, Hello Nurse and Scratchansniff.
''Hit reverse guys'' as they went backwards through the isles and back into their seats. While an usher walked up to Ralph, Hello Nurse and Scratchansniff. ''The concert has begun take your'e seats.'' He pushed them into an isle where three seats were waiting for them.
Tympanini glared at them starting to get frustrated since he was interrupted. ''Once again, the Schubert. He cracked his knuckles, straightened his tie and was about to play again when he heard the Warners, Max, Alyssa, and Matt eating in the front row.
''Carmel corn?'' ''don't mind if I do'' Wakko went into his gag bag, ''anyone for taffy?'' Tympanini tapped his foot, glaring at them. Yakko handed him the popcorn and the candy.
''All of it.'' Max grinned, ''if you say so.'' They opened Wakko's gag bag as Yakko pulled out everything from the candy store. Even the candy store! the stack was so high that Tympanini fell through the floor.
After that, Tympanini crawled out of the whole now in the center of the stage went back to the piano. While Wakko found some bubble gum under his seat and started chewing it. ''Diigusiting'' said Dot shaking her head.
Tympanini sighed, ''the Schubert.'' He was just about to play again when Wakko's bubble gum popped. He tapped his foot, glaring him and held out his hand for the gum. Wakko handed it to him and Tympanini headed back to the piano and finally started to play.
only problem was his hands and arms got covered in the gum. Yakko grinned, ''now that's entertainment.'' Tympanini continued to try and play until he finally destroyed the piano.
The audience loved it and applauded. ''Yes well, for my next number Ludwig van Plotsburgers most compelling musical accomplishment. Regretfully, only a sosphicated ear as my own can fully appreciate the depth of this masterpiece. Complete and absolute concentration is required. Von Plotzsburgers pavon and durge in C minor opus seven and eleven.''
He started to play as everyone, including the Warners, Max, Alyssa and Matt. But Hello Nurse, Scratchansniff, Ralph snuck out of their seats and up to where the Warners, Max, Alyssa and Matt were sitting who had fallen asleep interrupting Tympanini again. He glared at them and slammed on the piano keys.
''Bravo, bravo! encore!'' ''ah so there you is.'' Ralph tried to catch them, but they raced off again, climbing up onto the stage, but they were soon cornered by Scratchansniff, Hello Nurse and Ralph.
They grinned, and swung their nets finally catching them. Back outside, Ralph put the Warners, Max, Alyssa and Matt inside the studio truck. ''Eh, got e'm now doc'' and threw them inside. ''Good job Ralphie let's have a look huh? what is that?''
Inside the back of the truck was a very angry Tympanini not the Warners. ''But where are the Warner Brothers and their friends?''
Back inside the Warners, Max, Alyssa and Matt were playing the piano and singing a little song.
''Twas a guy named Joe from Kokomo playing that Piano Rag. He banged the keys with his head in his knees playing that Piano Rag. He twiddled with toes and diddled with his nose, playing that piano rag and when the day was done he had some fun playing that Piano Rag!''
The audience applauded. ''He was playing that Piano Rag!''
