Annabeth's POV
"Hazel, Oh my Gods. You look beautiful," Piper said, shifting Trevor to the other hip as we admired Hazel in all her wedding day glory. Hazel was standing in front of the full length mirror in one of the side rooms of the chapel. Her just-below-the-knees vintage style dress truly did look amazing on her. She fluffed and smoothed the skirt a little, allowing a hint of a smile to crawl onto her lips. Surely she was dealing with a lot of nervous energy right now, which is overwhelming, but I knew it would all melt away when Leo walked her down the aisle and she met Frank at the end. Reyna came up beside her and carefully positioned the veil in her golden-brown curls. Emily came bobbing up in front of her, blocking the mirror, and stared in awe.
"You look so pretty Auntie Hazel. Like a princess! You could be like Tiana from Disney!" the little girl squealed in excitement and Hazel finally let her full beautiful smile break out on her face.
"Thank you Emmy," she said gently using her own special nickname and pinching my little girl's cheek gently. Calypso moved to her and handed her the bouquet as I carefully moved Emily out from in front of the mirror. There were a few moments where the six of us just stood there, admiring Hazel in all her wedding-day glory. Even Em was quiet and not fidgety, which is unusual for a 6 year old, especially a 6 year old demigod. She stayed there in front of me, my arms wrapped loosely around her neck from behind and we just filed it all away in our memory.
Suddenly the silence was broken by a door opening. We all turned to see Leo halfway in the doorway, grinning kindly. He cleaned up nicely, even if he looked unruly at any other time.
"It's time to get started. Let's get you married Hazel," he said, still smiling. Piper set Trevor down and grasped his hand and I reached for Emily's. The seven of us filed slowly out of the room and walked to the back of the chapel. Standing before the great double doors, we paired up. Reyna and Nico were the first pair in line. Nico had flown in late last night with Will, having just gotten back from their honeymoon after their own wedding. Although he had missed the rehearsal and the bachelor party festivities, we were all glad to have him and his other half at the wedding. Calypso, who had given up her man so he could step in as the honorary father figure and walk the bride down the aisle, was last in line, following Jason and Piper, who had left Trevor with Emily as the little boy was the ring-bearer. Percy and I, as the best man and the maid of honor, were the final couple and I rested my head on his shoulder as we waited for the music to play and the doors to open. Leo quickly got Em and Trevor situated and gave her the careful instructions for what to do once they reached the end of the aisle. Then he returned to Hazel smiling and speaking calm comforts to her to soothe her nerves. He gave her a bear hug, then pulled the veil carefully over her face and offered her his arm.
They waited off to the side so as not to be seen early when the doors opened. When they did open and Nico and Reyna began to walk, I turned back and smiled over my shoulder at Hazel. I was happy to see that she was beaming back at me, looking radiant and practically glowing. Soon it was our turn to begin our walk down the aisle, and I know Percy and I were thinking along the same lines as we did. This would not be the last time we were at a wedding together, and this would not be the last time I walked down the aisle. When we reached the end, we separated and made our way to our places beside the altar, glancing back at eachother as we watched Emily and Trevor make their way happily down the aisle. Trevor clutched at her skirt with one hand and held on to the pillow with the other as he toddled down the aisle and Em threw handfuls of rose petals up into the air gleefully. The flowers fluttered gracefully onto the carpet behind her and finally they reached the end. Emily led Trevor carefully up to Jason then walked gracefully over to me. She stood at my side, smiling and taking my hand.
The music changed and everyone, especially Frank turned to face the back of the chapel. The wedding march washed over the church as the doors opened a final time and revealed Hazel and Leo. I knew she was blushing beneath the airy fabric of her veil, but I knew it was a happy blush. I turned my head back to Frank and watched his expression morph into something indescribably blissful as he watched the person he loved more than anything in the world walk toward him to profess her love for him. When they reached the end of the aisle Leo gave her hand a gentle squeeze and pecked her on the cheek. He took his place next to Jason and we all watched as Hazel walked carefully up the steps to the altar. She stood before Frank and turned back to me slightly, smiling brightly and handing me the bouquet. When she turned back, Frank stepped forward and lifted the veil gently up and over her hair. They were both grinning madly as they took eachothers' hands and Apollo began the ceremony, much more serious than he usually was. The ceremony continued and when it came to the vows, I started to tear up.
"Hazel, I have loved you for so long now, and I know that part of the reason we're not already married is because I'm a scaredy-pants, but the truth is, I don't care. As long as it was going to happen someday, I was okay. And now it's happening. You are the one person I can give everything too, my trust, my heart, and my soul. I love you and I want to be with you forever. You are my new piece of kindling. Without you I have nothing and I am nothing. I love you."
Hazel was tearing up too and I saw her reach up to dab at the corner of her eye before she went on with her speech.
"Frank, I was never really one to talk all that much, and I still get stage fright and I would rather stay home than go to a big party, but for you, I would stay in a crowd for months. I would go and do anything for you. You are the most important thing I have, here and now, and I plan on holding onto you for the rest of our lives. I can't imagine life without you and I will never leave you and I will always love you. I am giving you everything I have, even though you already had it from the very first kiss. Thank you for understanding me and loving me and always being there. I love you so, so much, and I can't wait to begin the rest of my life with you."
Now it was Frank's turn to tear up. A single droplet ran down from his right eye as he looked upon his bride to be. Sniffling could be heard throughout the church as Apollo continued the ceremony. He reached the official wedding vows, the necessary "I do"s were exchanged and finally, the long-awaited words were spoken: "You may now kiss the bride."
Frank pulled hazel closer to him by the waist and met her smiling lips. The congregation cheered as the wedding ended. The newlyweds clung to eachother as they walked down the aisle and we all followed them out. Em stood between Percy and I, holding one of each of our hands. I looked at our little family and sighed in content. Percy met my eyes and I smiled back at him.
We all made it to the limousine, and therefore the reception and we danced the night away. The groomsmen performed a surprisingly ok rendition of single ladies when it played across the speakers and Emily and I displayed a dramatic version of one of our most favorite mother-daughter-living-room- dance-parties/movie night songs, My Heart Will Go On. Our interpretive dance might have been a little unusual, but when I saw the grin on Percy's face I knew it couldn't have been more perfect. The bride and groom cut the beautiful cake and promptly smeared it across eachothers' faces, and kissing the majority of it off. They shared their first official dance and the other couples joined them on the dance floor. We all swayed in time to the slow song and smiled. It was abruptly switched to a more upbeat song as soon as everyone had cheered for the happy couple, or couples really. Em and some of her similar-aged somehow-related-grecian-ly cousins flooded the dance floor, sending us adults to reminisce at the corner table. The eight of us, plus Trevor, who was sound asleep on Jason's shoulder, sat and talked well into the night, until Emily came up to me, half asleep, and promptly fell asleep right across mine and Percy's laps.
We all decided that it was late enough, and we needed to go home, especially the pregnant women, and so we did. After wishing Frank and Hazel well and congratulating them one final time, we split off and went to our separate cars. Percy carefully laid Emily in her car seat and buckled her in as I slid into the passenger seat. He closed her door and crossed to the driver side, getting in and shutting that door before turning to me.
"I love you Wise Girl. I hope you know that that hasn't changed. And that's going to be us someday. Hades, it should've been us a long time ago. I love you."
He started the car and began to drive back to his apartment as I replied sleepily, "I've always loved you, you Seaweed Brain. And I always will."
A/N: I will try to be way more active in updating for the rest of the summer. But I finally got the insp to write the wedding chapter and I didn't want it to suck so hopefully it's good and fluffy :)
