Chapter 21
The Hunt is On
"We are doing everything we can, miss West." The detective said trying to reassure me.
"Well, you're not fucking trying hard enough!" I shrieked at him at the top of my lungs.
"Jade calm down!" Tori shouted to calm me down.
"Shut up, Vega!" I threatened her. I rounded on the detective again and exploded. "I WANT ROBBIE SHAPIRO FOUND! HE HAD MY BOYFRIEND KILLED!" The detective recoiled a little. You'd think he was used to getting shouted at.
"It was my understanding that you and Mr. Oliver broke up before his murder." I rolled my eyes in annoyance at his stupidity.
"What the fuck ever." I muttered.
"Jade, they're trying their best. You have to be patient." Tori spoke up, grabbing my hand. I nodded and turned back to the detective.
"Find him and kill him."
36 hours earlier. Monday morning, 1: 12.
I slump back on Tori's and mine's bed and laid down. I was shaking like crazy. I can't believe what I just heard. I hope it's a dream. I pinch my arm and feel the jolt of pain. Ordinarily, I enjoy this type of pain, but this pain brought me misery. It isn't a dream. The revelation was all too true. Fuck! I think to myself as I sob. Robbie and Ryder Daniels had my ex, Beckett Oliver murdered. All because of our breakup. I can't believe that I was the reason for it all. I broke up with Beck and he was killed because of me. I cried myself to sleep and I'm glad that I was able to.
Monday morning 7:30.
The alarm clock went off and I got up and slammed the snooze button before noticing the time and I forgot that today was Monday and it was a school day. I didn't want to go to school today, but I had two tests that I couldn't blow off. Fuck. I hope I don't see Robbie today. I told him I never wanted to see him again. If I do, I'll stick him with the scissors on my locker.
Tori stirred on the bed. She rolled on her back and opened her eyes and stretched.
"Good morning beautiful. Hope you had fun with your first threesome." She greeted groggily. I nodded, looking away.
"I hope you did." I replied. She yawned and replied positively.
"I had the best night of my life with you two."
"Good, cause it'll be our last one ever." I replied not caring what I said. I look back at her and see she is confused. She sits up and her sheet falls, showing her perky tits.
"What are you talking about?" she asked perplexed. I sighed and explain what happened earlier this morning when Robbie was still here.
"WHAT?!" she screeched loudly enough for her mom to come knocking on the door frantically.
"Tori, are you alright?" Holly shouted.
"Yeah, I'm fine; just a terrible joke Jade told me to wake me up." I lied quickly.
"Oh, okay." Holly replied and left. As soon as her footsteps couldn't be heard anymore, Tori continued.
"I can't believe Robbie would do something like that." Tori groaned. Neither can I. But, it's sadly true. I really wish it wasn't.
"I know. We can't do anything about it though."
"Well, we can't." Tori replied. I get dressed and grab clothes for Tori. I toss her a bra that she puts on to my dismay.
"Explain." I demand as she puts deodorant on and her shirt that I gave her.
"We have to tell my dad about this." She explains as she throws off the sheets. I stare mesmerized at seeing her pussy. I'm fighting the urge to not run up to her and tongue her. That threesome last night really got me going. I put her panties on and her jeans and her shoes and her boots. She shifts to hang her legs over the side.
"I suppose so; they'll need to find Ryder too." I add. Ryder has been gone for a long time. Normally I wouldn't care, but since he and Robbie were responsible for faking Beck's death, I want to find him and stab him with my scissors. We were both so consumed with what to do that we didn't bother showering. We put extra perfume on to mask any stink on us. I pick Tori up and leave the bedroom for breakfast.
We go downstairs and I put Tori in her wheelchair. We go into the kitchen and fix ourselves coffee and cereal for breakfast.
Tori's dad, David, comes down shortly after we started eating our cereal. He was getting ready to leave.
"Morning girls, how are you?" He asks, smiling and getting a travel thermos and filling it with coffee.
"Fine." Tori replies emotionlessly. David notices this and gives us a suspicious look.
"What's going on?" he asks. He's turned on Interrogation Mode. Tori and I exchange looks. How much should we tell him? We sigh and we take turns explaining to him last night's events. As we explain, his expressions change. He goes from suspicious to annoyed to furious to surprise.
"Robbie and this Ryder kid had something to do with Beck's murder?" he asked quietly. He was obviously still taking in everything he heard and fighting to not shout his head off at us.
"Ryder actually committed the murder; Robbie is the orchestrator." Tori explains. David puts a hand through his hair and sighs.
"I need to get to work. The chief will be interested in hearing this." He replies. We nod and he continues. "You'll need to come down to the station for a statement, Jade."
"Should I come now, or later?" I ask.
"How long is our lunch? An hour or so?" he asks. I nod. "Okay, come in at lunch and tell the front desk that you're there to see me for a statement." He instructs. He heads for the front door. He stops midway out and turns to us.
"We'll discuss this later." He warned. Tori and I knew we were gonna get a serious talking to. David will definitely tell Holly about this. I like Holly. She's a better mom than my mom has ever been to me. Yet she can be surprisingly strict. She won't be pleased with Tori's and mine's behavior.
Lunch at Hollywood Arts.
The bell finally rings, signaling the start of lunch hour. I jump up from my seat in History and leave for the parking lot. Tori will be fine with the others. So far, I haven't seen nor heard from Robbie today which is a good thing. Andre and Cat are confused. Tori will explain to them at lunch.
I leave the main building into the student parking lot and reach my car. Unlocking it, I hop in a start the car and pull out of my spot and head for the exit.
I am numb. I am going to give a statement that will tear my heart to shreds to the cops regarding Robbie, Ryder, and Beck. I haven't seen Beck since Friday, which is a good and bad thing. It's good since I don't want to freak out and bad because I don't know why he faked his death nor what he is planning. I am also numb because I'm going to be in the same room with David, who is pissed at me. I'll most likely get shouted at by him if we get alone for a moment.
After a short drive to the precinct, I pull into the visitor's parking lot and pick a spot and park the car. I get out nervously and head inside the crowded building. It was early May, which meant people were starting to plan summer vacations after school ended, and that meant a slight rise in crime rate. Even though school ended near the end of the month, crime was getting crazy and the precinct was crowded with criminals that even gave me the chills. I made my way to the front desk to one of the officers there.
"Can I help you miss?" one of them shouts to me over the sound of all the other people.
"I'm here to see David Vega to give a statement. The name's Jade West." I shout back to the officer, who nods and picks up a phone and dials a number. The officer speaks into the receiver then hangs up after a few seconds and moves towards me.
"Follow me to the back miss West." I nod and move around, dodging people. The officer leads me down a hallway to an area of offices and stops at one and knocks. The sign on the door says David Vega on it.
"Come in!" comes David's voice from the other side of the door. The officer opens the door for me and I walk inside. The room is the size of Tori's and mine's bedroom. David is situated with a medium sized desk with a computer in front of a window with blinds. He has a picture of his family, frames with degrees and awards, a bookcase, and filing cabinets. He has a couple of chairs in front of his desk.
"Hi Jade, glad you could make it." He greets smiling. He may be smiling, but his eyes show that he really isn't happy. Can't say as I blame him. Tori and I did have a guy over last night without his knowing.
"Hi. How does this work?" I ask, sitting down at one of the chairs.
"Simply you tell the detectives who are working on the case what Robbie told you this morning and they can put an APB on him and this Ryder kid." He explains. Doesn't seem too bad, but that's easier said than done. It'll be hard for me to retell the story again without breaking down. I nod in agreement and he stands up.
"Well, follow me and we'll get started so you can get back to class." He says, moving towards the door. I get up and follow him out of the office to the end of the hallway where there are stairs. He leads me to the next floor up.
A few minutes later I am in the office of one of the detectives on the case of Beck's death, a Detective Harrison.
"Okay, Jade, I'm sure David has told you what we need from you, am I correct?" She asks me. I nod. "Good, let's get started then." I nodded slowly and began to speak.
Later back at H.A.
I had finished giving my statement to Detective Harrison and have returned to finish classes for the day. I didn't have Tori in any more of my classes, so I wouldn't see her until the end of the day, which I wanted to go by fast. Unfortunately, that never happens.
The police have begun the search for Robbie and Ryder. They had an APB on both of them, so they are wanted. Harrison mentioned that the news will be informed and that pictures of Robbie and Ryder will begin circulating around the city. It'll be hard for Robbie to leave the city. As for Ryder, I have no idea.
Finally, the fucking bell rings to signal the end of the school day. I jumped up from my seat and practically ran to the parking lot, looking for Tori. I arrived at my car and waited for a few minutes before Tori appeared by my side.
"Hey, how did it go?" she asked when she was close enough.
"Okay; they're putting an APB on Robbie and Ryder and their gonna search their places." I explained.
"That's good." Tori replied smiling at me. Her smile always made me feel better.
"You're dad also said that we can come with them when they search Robbie's place tonight." I informed her. She had every right to know about Robbie as much as I did. After all, he did get her pregnant and was responsible for the faked death of one of her best friends.
"Good; I need to know what's going on with him." She replied and I nodded in agreement. This is gonna be a long week. I think.
Later, in the evening.
The police were searching Robbie's place at the Hollywood Hills Hotel. They brought a full team of forensic scientists with them to canvas the place. If Robbie is there, I hope he doesn't fight.
A few minutes went by. Tori and I were waiting outside with Holly, waiting for news. One of the detectives came back outside and moved towards us.
"Can I speak with Jade and Tori alone please?" he asked, looking at Holly and Tori. Holly nodded and left towards her car. Tori grabbed my hand and squeezed. I squeezed back nervously.
"The place is deserted; Robbie isn't there and some of his clothes are missing." The detective informs us.
Robbie was missing? How the fuck is that even possible? Could he have left town today? Well, as long as he is far away from me as possible. But, what are the police gonna do about it? If he left the city, we would've had to get gas, or take a plane, or a train; all have security cameras.
"Uh, well we can't kill him unless he attempts to kill us." The detective replies patiently.
"Jade, please let the police do their job; you've done your part, now let them do theirs." Tori requested pleadingly, giving me puppy dog eyes. Damn her and her puppy dog eyes, they're so cute!
"Fine, but I want to be updated with everything!" I sigh. The detective nods and gives me his card. I read the name on the card. Detective Gary. Isn't he David's partner? Whatever.
"Of course." Gary replied. He turned to leave. Tori squeezes my hand again. I squeeze back but it doesn't help me at all.
"Don't worry Jade; I'm sure they'll find him wherever he is." Tori reassured me.
"I know, but that doesn't make me feel any better." I replied quietly. Tori pulled on my arm and I came down to her level. She kissed me passionately and our tongues danced. After a long time, we split apart and put our foreheads together.
"No matter what happens, Jade; know that I love you with all my heart."
"I love you too, Tori." I replied. I sighed. This is definitely gonna be a long week. I think.
