Normal POV
Two days later Master Snowy comes back with Julio. He has brown eyes, dark red hair and tan skin.
"Mades, I'd like you to meet Julio. I would like to you to get to know him," Master Snowy says.
"I don't want to get to know him," Madeline snaps.
"Mades, I'm afraid that you don't have much choice in the matter," Master Snowy says.
"Why, mom, what do you mean?" Madeline asks.
Master Snowy takes her left hand out of her jacket pocket. Madeline sees an engagement ring on her finger glistening in the sunlight.
"Congratulations," RJ says.
"Thank you, RJ," Master Snowy says.
Everyone else does the same. Madeline decided to break the congratulation fest by scratching the counter.
"Mom, I can't believe that you expect me just to take to this whole thing like a duck to water. I thought my feelings were important too. I guess I was wrong and, for the record, I don't want a new step-dad." Madeline snaps.
Madeline flips over to a vine and swings out of the loft. She is surprised by how muggy it is outside for eight in the morning. She decided to go to the beach to help her cool down. When she gets there Madeline takes off her jacket and ties it around her waist. She walks down the coast enjoying the light breeze off the water. A few seconds later a big wave hits her.
That's another way to help cool me off. Madeline thinks
Madeline shakes off most of the water before she rings out her hair and jacket. She glances down at her left arm and sees that the makeup she used to cover up her stripes was washed away.
Waterproof, yeah right. I'm going to write a letter to the company to complain. Madeline thinks.
She turns around and sees Dominic walk up. She uses her left hand to cover up my master stripes.
"Hey, kitten, what are you trying to hide under your hand?" Dominic asks as he takes hold of her wrist.
"I got a small cut there when a rock hit it when a big wave hit me." she lies.
"Dominic, please let go I'm okay." she says.
A few seconds later he finally pulls her hand away. He sees her master stripes. She quickly puts her jacket back on to cover them up.
"When did you earn your master stripes?" Dominic asks.
"Two days ago and it's kind of a long confusing story." she answers.
"I have plenty of time to hear the story," Dominic says.
"It may take a few minutes to explain,"
He sits down on the beach and pats his hand on the patch of sand next to him. Madeline flashes a quick smile before she sits down. He asks her where she was when he and the other Rangers were fighting the grizzly bear monster.
"I was at the academy fighting Eric."
"Who's Eric?" Dominic asks.
"He is one of the bullies who picked on me the day I moved here."
"Why were you fighting with him in the first place?" Dominic asks.
"Eric called my parents weak. I wasn't going to let him get away with insulting my family."
"How did you get to the Academy," Dominic asks.
"Master Mao and my dad showed up before we started to fight. He told us that we'll finish the fight at the Academy."
"Let me guess the fight with Eric was your master's test?" he asks.
"The only problem is that I didn't know it until the fight was over. Please don't tell the others about this I don't want them to know that I'm a master."
"I'd like to become a master too someday," Dominic says.
"Have you taken your masters test yet?"
"No, but I'm looking forward to the day of his test," Dominic says.
"I'm not going back to the loft until Julio is gone."
"Okay kitten, what's with the hostility towards him? I mean he seems like a nice guy." he says.
"I already accepted my mom's apology about her not telling me about him. Now she just expects me to get along with him because they're engaged now. Well, that's not going to happen."
Madeline wants to vent some more, but their bracelets go off.
"There is a large snake-like monster attacking people at the pier," RJ says.
"We're on the way," Dominic says.
A few minutes later they rendezvous with the team and see the monster.
"Alright, monster, do you have a name, or what?" Theo asks.
Yes, it's Red Wonder-hypnosis." it answers.
Man, they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel for monster names. Madeline thinks.
"Is one of your attacks is a hypnotic song?" Dominic asks.
Madeline's POV
Red Wonder-hypnosis charges in and surrounds me with a thick layer of fog. I feel the fog draining my energy. I'm trying to use my good hearing to help me to sense its attack coming. It was no use because the punches were too fast for me to dodge. I can feel is each punch hitting my stomach hard. The next thing I know I'm flying through the air and hitting the water. I hit it so hard that I lose my Ranger suit and feel myself slowly starting to sink below the waves.
