Chapter 21: Flint And Steal
Herobrine's POV
"Crap they're gonna die they're gonna die what did I do my thumb probably slipped or something no no no no no!"
Suddenly, an Enderman was standing in my throne room with a creeper.
Okay, then.
I rushed forward. "Napalm, are you okay, are they okay, where are Dana and Calvara, who the heck is this, we don't have Endermen in our army, what did you tell her, are the six okay, are they alive, I didn't mean to set off the security, my thumb slipped, I accidentally pressed on the button that enabled it, what's going on in the Overworld, did anybody die are they alive-"
Napalm held up a hand to stop me. "Dude, you sound like Andria right now." He pointed toward the Enderman he'd came here with. She was smiling at the Netherbrick wall and had a faraway look in her eyes. Napalm lowered his voice and whispered, "She's a bit of an airhead. When she's not daydreaming though, she's talking her face off."
I laughed. "My brother was kind of like that."
Then the girl, Andria, snapped out of her trance and smiled at me. "Hi, how are you doing, Napalm has told me a lot about you, so you're actually Herobrine, I thought you would look more evil, but you don't, hey, is this your castle, it's nice, I like it, I wish I had a place like this, that would be so awesome, hey, Napalm said you were cursed, is that why your eyes are glowing, that's so weird, are you the only one in the world with eyes like that, if you are that would be so cool, 'cause then you would have something weird and special about you that makes you different, though everyone has something that makes them different, I mean, unlike other Endermen, I can speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Bosnian-"
Napalm facepalmed (hey, that kinda rhymed). "Would both of you shut up for five minutes?"
I held up my hands. "I wasn't talking that time."
Andria rolled her eyes. "I will never stop talking, so deal with it, okay?"
"Anyway," Napalm said. "Dana and Calvara are trying to lead the six to here to get you on their side. They all survived the Molenoid attack and I don't even know exactly what they're doing right now."
I groaned. "They're coming here?"
Napalm nodded.
"If they offered me to be on their side and to find that jerkface that cursed me, I would say yes. Like, right away. But everyone in my army thinks they're trying to kill me, so then they're going to attack and kill them. And if I tell them to not kill them, then they're going to think I've gone soft, and I' m probably going to order them killed when the curse acts up again. And then everything is just gonna suck for everybody."
Napalm sighed. "Maybe a bit."
"Maybe you could leave here and go look for them and join them," Andria suggested.
I shook my head. "No, then my army is going to come looking for me when I leave without telling them."
"Then what will you do?" Napalm asked.
"Wait, didn't you say that they raided the secret armory?"
"Yeah…"
"Well, if they show up wearing the OreSpawn armor, the people in my army could think that they're new recruits or something. We'll just let them come to us."
"Worth a shot."
Seto's POV
"Anybody bring a pickaxe?"
"Yeah, I got one."
"Me too."
"Ditto."
I tried to ignore the others as I dug through a bunch of gravel with an iron shovel, looking for some flint. I was kind of surprised that nobody had thought to bring any flint and steel. Nike brought TNT, but no redstone torches or flint and steel. Go figure.
As the others were trying to mine obsidian, Eric and I were looking for flint. There was definitely something wrong with Eric. He seemed… I don't know, not as hostile toward me. He just looked sad and dejected. He'd been half-heartedly dragging his shovel through the gravel for about seven minutes now.
I sat down. "I give up. We're never gonna find any flint."
"Probably not." He tossed his shovel on top of the gravel and sat down across from me.
I sighed. "What's up?"
He seemed taken aback by my question. "Hm? Oh, nothing."
I rolled my eyes. "Come on, bro, what's wrong?"
He furrowed his eyebrows. "I didn't think you would even care, seeing as you hate me and all."
"We can't afford anyone to be distracted on this quest. Tell me what's wrong."
He shook his head. I got up and sat beside him. "Dude, tell me what's wrong already."
"You wouldn't understand."
"If I don't, it'll still feel good to get it off your chest."
Eric took a deep breath. "Okay, well, a couple hours ago, when we were all sleeping, Nike woke me up, we talked, she kissed me, and I thought there would be some kind of spark between us or something, but there wasn't, and now I'm trying to get over her, but I can't."
That hit me like a truck. Seriously. It felt like he was driving a semi, ran over me, then backed up and ran over me again.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up. She kissed you?"
He nodded. "But maybe she doesn't like me back or something, because there was literally nothing. At least we know she likes you now, right?"
We were both silent. Then I thought that the good thing to do would be to try to cheer him up. The thing is, I suck at cheering people up. Once, a guy back at my village broke his leg, and I was like, "At least it wasn't both legs, right?" But I decided to try anyway.
I put a hand on Eric's shoulder. "There's plenty of other girls out there. It'll be fine."
He shrugged my hand off and stood. "Yeah. I guess so." He walked toward the others, and I saw something fall out of his clenched fist. A piece of flint.
Eric's POV
Why in all heck does Seto hate me so much? Maybe because he thinks I'm trying to make him feel guilty or something? Actually I could've done that. He stole my chances with Nike from me when he came to Spawn City, so why didn't I?
As I walked toward the others, a million thoughts were running through my mind all at once. But the one that kept coming back was this:
What is he going to steal from me next?
