"Guess what?" James excitedly asks me.
"I don't know, James. I'm trying to study." I reply and he sighs.
"Love, you do realise that it is Valentine's Day," he says and I slowly nod.
"You do realise I'm trying to study for exams," I say in return and he nods.
"Well you probably don't want to know about this special date I had planned. Oh well, it's all gone to waste now."
"Oh, what date?'
"A special date for Valentine's Day."
"Well, what is it?"
"We have special permission to go off campus. We will be going to an ice skating rink in London."
"James, will you be ok with helping me skate for the whole date?"
"Yeah, it means I will be able to hold your hand for the whole date, and I never mind that." I laugh and close up the book that I was using for studying. James stands up and I join him. I say goodbye to his friends and I follow James out of the Gryffindor common room.
"We have to go through McGonagall's fireplace and floo to the Leaky Cauldron. Then we will be taking a taxi over to the ice skating rink." James informs me and I nod and then realise he has his back to me.
"Sounds great," I say and we arrive at the headmistress's entrance. James utters the password and we walk up the stairs.
"Hey McGonagall," James greets her.
"Hello, Headmistress McGonagall," I nod at her respectfully.
"Hello, Isla and James. The fireplace is ready for you the time is 6 o'clock, so please be back at 7 o'clock."
"Thank you for doing this. We will certainly be back on time" I tell her.
"We might be a little late," James grins and heads over to the fireplace. McGonagall glares at James's back.
"No, we won't." I assert through clenched teeth. James floos to the Leaky Cauldron and I follow his actions and floo straight after him. I arrive and see James talking to Hannah Abbott, Neville Longbottom's wife. I walk over to them and I greet Hannah.
"We should be going," James looks at me and we wave goodbye to Hannah. James and I exit the Leaky Cauldron. Once outside James hailed down a taxi, well he tries to.
Ten minutes later, he finally successfully hailed a taxi down. James opens the door for me and I slide on in. James gets in after me and closes the door, James tells the taxi driver where we needed to go and the directions.
"Are you excited?" James asks me.
"Yeah," I lie. I know James is really excited but I'm not because I hate ice skating, last time I went ice skating, I nearly broke my wrist.
"I haven't been ice skating in ages. Don't worry, I will hold your hand the entire time and I will help you." he says. "I thought that we would have longer than an hour because it's Saturday."
"James, it's at night we have no adult supervision and we barely ever go to London." I scold and he grins at me.
We arrive at the rink and James pays the taxi driver. We hop out of the car and head over to the man in the stand. James pays him after rejecting my offer of paying for myself. The man whose name is Greg, hands us skates. I lumber over to the bench where James practically runs to, he is so excited. I quietly sigh and sit next to him.
I put on my skates, I unsteadily stand up and I plod over to the rink. James joins me and he holds my hand. I shakily skate around and to be honest James was an amazing skater. He would try to twirl me around but I would always fall over.
"This is so much fun!" James says with excitement.
"Yeah!" I try to match his excitement, but I don't quiet reach it. Luckily James doesn't notice, I take a deep breath. James put a lot of effort into this date and unknowingly to him, I was being a Debby downer.
James and I skate for ages and I was actually having fun, it was surprising. I look at the clock that hangs on the centre of the ceiling. I see that it's nearing 8 o'clock, oh my goodness!
"James, we're so going to be late!" I squeal.
"What do you mean?" he asks me and I point at the clock. His face drops and he quickly skates to the entrance of the rink, pulling me along with him. We rush to get our skates off and give it back to Greg.
James hails down a taxi, this time it only took 5 minutes. We get in the car and tell him to go the Leaky Cauldron.
"James, we are going to be in so much trouble!" I start to panic, I absolutely hate being in trouble.
"Don't worry, I will take the blame." He nods and I shake my head. I'm not going to let him take the blame, he shouldn't get in any more trouble since he will be graduating. James has been so close to getting suspended and I've never really been in trouble, so I won't have that harsh consequences.
We arrive at the Leaky Cauldron, and inside waiting for us is Headmistress McGonagall. Great, this is just getting worst by the second.
"It's all my fault. James wanted to leave but I wouldn't let him because I wanted to stay and skate more... A-And I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." I desperately ramble.
James shakes his head, "it was my fault. I lost track of time."
"Look let's forget about it James you will be graduating soon and Isla I know that this was an accident. I know what it is like to be in love and I fully understand." McGonagall says and I sigh in relief. We floo back to Hogwarts and arrive back in McGonagall's office.
"Now, go back to your common rooms separately." McGonagall orders and we oblige. We leave her office and when we are about to go our separate ways, he pulls me into a kiss. After a few seconds, I pull away.
"Goodnight. I love you." I tell him.
"I love you too," he responds and we go our separate ways.
