Chapter Twenty-One:
When Roman, Lily, and Emma with Phil and AJ's children get home from the grocery store, Lily and Roman already plans on how they are going to approach Emma.
"Okay children, while we wait for our other guest arrive, what do you guys want to do?"
"I would like to play on the WII that you have, please and thank you." The middle child says
"Sure, let me get it set up." Roman walks with them to the room beside Lily's office.
Lily just watches Roman carry Emma as he holds the hand of the youngest of the three; she is only 3 years old.
"I guess the talk will have to wait until after dinner." She walks to the kitchen to put the groceries on the island with the frozen foods in the freezer
2 hours later:
Lily is in the room with all of them as she sees Roman lose the boxing match to the youngest daughter
"Damn, I don't know if you let her win or you are just bad." Lily enters as she pecks Roman on the lips
"Oh definitely I let her win, but I lost my motive. Can you tell me what I can have if I do win?" Roman pecks her back. He doesn't notice that the oldest son have started the game.
"I don't think that is going to happen with you being distracted. You're almost going to lose this game." She rubs his arm to see his player's bar go down and down
"What do you mean?" Roman rubs her sides
"Look forward." Lily points to the TV screen
Roman looks and his eyes go wide when he sees that he only has one bar left in the second round. He starts to throw his arm any way to not end this match soon. Roman is one hit away before he loses again. The oldest just grins at him before he delivers an upper cut to end the game.
"Yes." He high-fives everyone in the room except Roman.
"You were in on this." Roman looks at Lily while she celebrates with the children
"Of course, we need to test your Reigns' brain." She giggles
As Roman is about to respond, they all hear a doorbell.
"They are here, we can start the restaurant." Emma runs to the door to open the door.
"Emma wait, you don't know who is at the door." Roman calls out to get to the door before she does.
When they all get there, they see Emma frozen in place with Paul at the door.
"Hello, Emma right. How are you?" Paul with his arms behind his back as he attempts to enter
"Don't you even dare to step foot in this house." Roman steps forward with his voice full of venom
He guides Emma behind his back. After a few seconds, she runs to Lily to hug her tight. Emma whispers 'sorry' to Lily. Lily whispers 'it is okay' back with a smile.
"Wow, such venom in your words why would that be? I bet you found out that I am right, didn't you?" Paul attempts to step in the house again.
"I told you not to step inside this house." Roman again with even more venom and hated in his voice and tone. His starts to clench both of his fists.
"And who is going to stop me, you? You won't because you don't want to scar the cute children with Lily. You will not give them nightmares of their great protector to be beaten to a pulp. They don't want to see you be carried out in a stretcher."
"You will be on a stretcher if you don't leave before Dean…"
Roman gets cut off by Paul's laughter. "Dean, he has some family problem to deal with. You see I went to Pennsylvania to visit Dean's wife Renee. Too bad I couldn't catch her in before she went out. Do you know that Renee has a sister?" He once again attempts to enter, but Roman steps forward about to pounce which makes him step back
"Okay, do you know her name?" Lily pulls the children more behind her back while Roman still in his stance ready to pounce on Paul.
"It is Angel; you know your co-worker that I slept with to find out where you live. When I heard that name it took me a bit to figure out why that name was so familiar. It just clicks in my head when I got in my car, so I called Dean; who I know is in Pennsylvania by the way. He is too stupid to not change his cell phone number. So, I call him to inform my discovery and he was furious. He won't be here for quite a while."
"How do you know that…"Lily asks upset that Paul figured out that Dean left them to go to Pennsylvania
"That Dean is at Pennsylvania. I knew that Roman will give the message that I would threaten Renee because I have done it in the past. I would mess, kidnap, or sleep with one of the boyfriend's family to get them to leave Lily. So, as predictable as Dean is, being the protector he is, he would panic and go visit his wife to keep her safe from danger. When I saw Dean arrive with your friends at the house with your friend, which was a surprise, but stupid move, I knew that was my opening. I drove after I called Dean to make good on my word; to put Roman in the ICU while start a family with you two. You hear that Emma, I am going to be your new daddy." Paul tires to look over Roman to see Emma
"You don't get to talk to her or see her. I'm going to keep MY word that I will protect them with every breath that I have. You will not touch them as long as I am still breathing." Roman with the same type of venom. If looks could kill Paul would be dead twice over.
"Well, Lily, Emma get a good look at Roman because he won't be in our lives for too long."
Paul takes out a gun to point it to Roman. They all are in shock, but Roman stands his ground.
"Daddy no!" Emma tries to go to him, but Lily holds her back
Emma hits her in the stomach as he runs to Roman. She hugs his leg as she cries for his father's safety.
"Daddy, don't leave us. I can't take to lose another parent." She tightens her grip after every sentence.
Roman feels his eyes water as she hears Emma plead for him to be alive
"Paul, don't do this. Don't take my daddy away. I can't lose both my parents at a young age." Emma tries to look at Paul to see how hurt she is that she is going to lose another parent.
Roman looks down to try to meet Emma's eyes. As an instinct, Emma looks up to see his father's eyes full of tears that haven't fallen. He sighs and take a big breath.
"Emma, sweetie…" He pulls her arms off his let to kneel down to her level. "I want you to be a good girl for Lily, okay. You don't persuade her to eat sweets like you do with me okay. You have your mother's brains and none of mine." Roman looks at Lily with a small smile on her face. "You never give up to live because I see you do great things. We both will be looking after you. Whenever you need to talk to us you pray to us." He wipes his tears off. "I need you two to be strong and don't go for revenge, okay. This is the end of the torment for Lily, okay." Emma nods. "Okay, Lily will come and take you with the other children to our bedroom, so you will not watch. I love you Emma, don't you forget that." Roman hugs her tight as he kisses her head while he holds back tears
Lily walks up to them with the other children stay at the same spot. She joins into the hug. She gives Roman one final kiss and hugs before she takes the children up to their room.
"I love you Roman." Lily pecks him one more time
"I love you Lily, stay strong for our daughter." As Roman wipes her tears and kisses her forehead
Roman stands back up while Lily goes back to take the children to their room when Paul interrupts.
"Wait, what did Emma mean by she is going to lose another parent?"
"I guess you didn't learn our background. You see Emma's mom died when she was younger in her sleep. So, when you shoot me she will just have Lily; who is the secondary mommy to her. Isn't that right sweetheart?"
"That's right daddy." Emma says as she wipes her tears to be strong like she promise him
"Oh well that changes everything." Paul lowers the gun.
"Really?" They all say shocked, but relieve
"Yeah right. When I say I will do something I do it. Now Lily take the kids to the bedroom now; you have 10 seconds."
Paul aims the gun again at Roman. He starts counting down from 10. He cocks the gun when he get to 5. When Lily and the children just enter their bedroom and close the door, they hear a gun shot. After a few minutes, they hear footsteps coming up from the stairs. Lily brings the children behind the bed, as she gets a weapon to fight with. She finds a chair because the baseball bat is downstairs to hit the person with. She will also protect the children until her last breath. The person knocks on the door several times before the person opens the door. The person opens the door and it is…
