Chapter 21

They all apparate out of Grimmuald place and head off to different locations and houses of known and suspected death eaters. Lily stays with Sirius and Mad-eye.

The three of them arrive at Malfoy manor, Mad-eye blasts in the door not giving anyone any time to run and hide. Voldemort just about had enough time to hide himself in the shadows.

He saw Lily and wanted to capture her but he knew he couldn't do that without being seen or heard. It wasn't the right time for the war to start, the boy wasn't ready yet.

Mad-eye arrested Lucius Malfoy and a few other of Voldemort's inner circle. Lucius looks over at Lily "You've just signed Severus's death certificate."

Lily walks over to Wormtail and hugs him "it's okay Peter; you don't have to hide anymore. Thank you for telling us about everything."

Peter starts to look panicked by what Lily is saying, Sirius catches on and pats him on the shoulder "Always a true friend Peter, we'll take care of you now. You don't have to be afraid of them finding out."

Voldemort couldn't believe what he was hearing, he thought that it would be Severus to betray them and tell Lily of his plans but it was really the rat who must of ran back to his friends with his tail in-between his legs, begging for their forgiveness.

Voldemort knows that with his new power and connections at the Ministry he would be able to get his followers out in a few days but he wouldn't free Wormtail, he was going to find wherever they decide to hide the rat and kill him, himself.

Lily guides Peter out of the manor "it's alright Peter your safe now."

Once they got to the apparition point of the manor, Lily bound Peter's hands and threw him to Sirius "I don't wanna know."

Sirius flashes her; his signature smirk and apparates with Peter, Lily looks over at Mad-eye "how many did we get?"

Mad-eye apparates her back to Grimmuald place "we got a few low level followers, a few new recruits and a lot of his inner circle, not including Pettigrew, I didn't see anything and I don't want to know what happens."

Lily smiles "thank you Alastor."

He nods and apparates back to the MoM to sort out the paperwork for the new Azkaban inmates.

Lily apparates herself to Hogsmead and slowly walks in the direction of Hogwarts, she sends out her doe patronus to Severus to let him know she was on his way.

She arrives at the gates to see Severus standing there patiently waiting for her arrival. She quickly gets through the gates and is engulfed by a hug from Severus.

"What happened?" she looks up at him and just smiles.

Lily looks the castle and smiles "well a few aurors took a polyjuice potion so they looked like me. Sirius, Mad-eye and I went to Malfoy manor. They arrested a few low level followers, a few new recruits and loads of his inner circle including Lucius Malfoy. We know they'll be 'released' in a few days but we can get to him and his followers just as much as he can get to us."

Severus smirks at the sound of Lucius getting arrested "where are the others?"

Lily smiles "ahh yes well, Sirius he thought it would be a good idea for you-know-who to think that he has another spy in his group. So Sirius and I made it look like Pettigrew told us about the whole using me against Harry plot instead of you and when we left Malfoy manor, Pettigrew was in the company of Sirius. But we know that he's a dead rat either way because HE was present in the manor but didn't attack us which was strange."

Severus looks at her in shock that the dark lord didn't harm her when he had the chance to but he also looks at her with concern "but you are okay right?"

Lily nods "I am perfectly fine Sev; you don't need to worry about me."

They make their way slowly towards the castle; Lily can't remember the last time she was in the castle with Severus by her side and them both being happy. She knew that Harry was somewhere inside looking at the map trying to figure out what she was doing there and why she was in the company of the snarky potions professor.

Once they reach his private quarters, he tightly hugs her once more "that was a very foolish thing you did."

Lily nods against his chest "I know Severus but now he knows that it wasn't you that told me. I had to do it Sev, I can't lose you."

Severus sighs "nor I you."

Lily slips out of his arms and sits down on the sofa "soo…. Seeing as it is Friday night, I was wondering if you could use some company, Sirius won't be back tonight and I don't really fancy being alone after the afternoon that I just had but hey I totally understand if you want to be alone and all that."

A few hours later

Minerva goes to check on Severus seeing as he hasn't been present at dinner time, she slowly creeps through his portrait and comes across a sight she thought she would never see; Severus is stretched out fast asleep on his sofa with Lily who was also fast asleep on top of him.

Minerva levitated a blanket towards them and placed it over the sleeping pair.

What happened between Lily & Severus?
