Chapter 21: Magical Stones
Starscream came out of the bridge while clenching his side that Darksteel bit into. Ratchet guided Starscream to the med table so that he could fix up Starscream's wound.
"How did this happen?" Ratchet asked while welding up the wound.
Starscream grumbled as he replied while pointing at Darksteel who was coming through the portal, "Ask him." Ratchet stopped welding to see Starscream pointing his metal talon at the Predacon.
"My bad" Darksteel replied as he walked pass the two to see the femme on the med table. He looked at her and then noticed her insignia on her shoulder. "Hey Skylynx!" he called out to his Predacon brother.
"What is it?" Skylynx asked as he walked over to where Darksteel was.
"Take a good look at her insignia, brother" Darksteel replied as he pointed at the girl's shoulder.
Skylynx's optics widened as he recognized the Predacon insignia. He turned to the blue two wheeler, who was giving Shockwave the equipment she bought for him, and said, "You didn't tell us that the female was one of us!"
Starscream's optic's widened before he said, "What! There's another one of you unruly beasts... Ow!"
"Sorry" replied Ratchet when Starscream winced in pain.
Arcee sighed before she replied, "We didn't want you guys to know that she is half Predacon half uh...uh"
"Dragon-human" Miko finished for Arcee as she walked into the medical room with Jack, Raf, and Knock Out behind her. "Or is it the other way around?" she said to herself as she put her hand on her chin to think about what the girl was.
"Oh how lovely, you brought your human pets here on Cybertron" said Starscream disgustedly as he narrowed his optics at the young teenagers.
Miko turned and narrowed her eyes at Starscream as she said while putting her hands on her hips, "Watch it Screamy."
He laughed as he smirked at her and retorted, "Or what? You going to run to your guardian, Bulkhead?"
Miko's eyes caught sight of a mop and a big bucket of black paint as she grinned evilly. She took out the peridot and turquoise jewels from her pocket and laughed menacingly as she said, "Oh this is going to be fun." She squeezed the jewels in her hand as it glowed a faint light green and turquoise light as she disappeared in thin air.
Everyone except Jack and Raf were shocked that she vanished. She invisibly zoomed towards the mop and bucket of paint and grabbed them. She then ran towards Starscream and ran up at his face before she ran down to put the mop and paint bucket back as she rejoined the guys as she reappeared again.
Starscream was shocked at what just happened that he said, "What on Cybertron just happened? How did she? How could she...?"
But he was interrupted by everyone staring at him. Everyone, except Shockwave, started to snicker at him. He looked at them confusingly before he asked, "What? What's everyone laughing at?"
Miko took out her cell phone and took a picture of him while Jack and Raf were starting to take out their phones to take a picture too.
"Miko, you know that should have been done when he was asleep, right?" Raf asked while trying not to laugh.
"I know" she said before she smirked as she continued, "But I couldn't help myself."
"What? What did she do?" Starscream asked with a bit of impatience in his tone.
Darksteel laughed obnoxiously as he said in between breaths of air, "Who knew humans could be so creative!"
Everyone laughed some more while Starscream was steaming with anger. Then Wheeljack walked into the room to see what was going on. "What is going on here? Can't a guy get some sleep... woah! What happened to you Screamy?" he said as he turned to see Starscream's 'new look'.
Starscream growled as he shouted, "WHAT IS GOING ON! And how come everyone is laughing at me?"
"That is incorrect Starscream. I am the only one here that is not laughing at your new paint job" said Shockwave as he walked away to get back to work on the cure for the girl's illness.
Starscream raised his metal brow as he said, "New paint job?"
Knock Out chuckled as he grabbed a mirror and came over towards Starscream. The doctor handed Starscream the mirror. Starscream looked at his reflection to be shocked at what he saw.
His reflection revealed a black circle around his right optic, a thin curly mustache above his lips, and four pointed teeth coming under his bottom lip. "What is this!" he said as he touched the wet black mustache.
"Dude, you don't know what a mustache is?" Miko said.
Starscream growled at the girl as he replied, "Oh course I know what a mustache is! I just don't get why 'doodling' on my faceplate has to do with you guys laughing at me!"
"Well, duh because a) you asked for it and b) I always wanted to do that on a bot. And plus it is soo funny to see the look on your face" Miko said to the annoyed bot.
Starscream grimaced at Miko before he turned his attention to the Autobots and asked them, "Okay since when did humans possess the ability of super speed? Did they somehow obtain the power of red energon?"
"Ha, believe it or not, Starscream, but the humans can do magic" Knock Out said as he handed Starscream a wet cloth to wipe off the black paint.
Starscream took the cloth as he replied, "What? Haha that is just preposterous." He then used the cloth to wipe the black paint off his face.
Miko growled as she mumbled while crossing her arms, "Why is it so hard for some people to just accept that magic is real!"
"Oh please, the day I would start to believe in fairy tales and magic is the day that you sprout wings and fly" Starscream said while rolling his optics in disbelief.
Miko raised an eyebrow before saying, "Dude, you're making this too easy for me."
Starscream huffed in disbelief as he said, "Then do it already."
"Fine I will, just give me a minute to get the spell book" Miko said as she walked over to her bag to search for the girl's spell book. After she found the book, she tucked it under her arm and walked over to where Starscream was waiting for her.
"I'm waiting for this so called 'magic' to happen" He said impatiently.
"I'm getting there, hesh no wonder Megatron wanted to snuff out your spark in that cave a long time ago" Miko said as she flipped through the pages.
"Ugh, don't remind me of that horrific day" he said while rubbing his head.
Miko found the page for the spell and started to grin before she looked up at Starscream and said, "Prepare to have your mind blown away, Screamy."
Starscream just rolled his optics as he said while putting his chin in his hand and replied, "Enlighten me."
Miko closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she opened her eyes and began chanting a spell five times, "Lotess amin lokta templa raama ar wil. Lotesse amin lokta templa raama ar wil. Lotesse amin lokta templa raama ar wil." As she was chanting the spell a bright light started to sprout from her shoulder blades. The light started to form the shape of huge almost translucent butterfly wings.
"Lotesse amin lokta templa raama ar wil." Miko chanted the phrase for the last time as her wings became solid, yet the wings look almost transparent in the light. Starscream's jaw drop as he blinked a couple of times to make sure that he wasn't seeing things.
"That is not logical for a human to sprout huge yet delicate wings" Shockwave said in disbelief.
"Well, believe in the impossible now, Shockwave because here's your proof that magic is real" said Knock Out as he grinned at Shockwave's perplex expression.
Miko looked behind her back to see if she sprouted wings. She grumbled in disappointment as she said out loud, "Ah man! I wanted demon wings, not these cutesy, girly fairy wings!"
Starscream shook his head as he said, "Ha, you really had me fooled there, human. I have to admit, you were very clever in using a hologram to have wings appear on you."
Miko narrowed her eyes at him as she walked up to him and retorted, "This is no hologram, Screamy! This is real magic, not some illusion or trick." Then as Miko kept on walking forward, her wings started to flap with each step.
"Why if I had a dollar for every time someone says that 'there is no such thing as magic' or 'magic is just illusions', I would be a millionaire by now" she continued while she was slowly floating above the metal floor.
Miko's beautiful light purple, pink, and black lining wings started to flap faster as a trail of light pink glittering light fell from her wings. Everyone was astonished that she was actually flying with those thin wings.
She came closer and closer to Starscream until she was hovering at his eye level. "I'm kinda a bit confused. You bots believe that the ancient relics are 'ancient mystical artifacts' of lost technology, yet you guys refused to believe in magic" She said while putting her hands on her hips as she leered at Starscream.
Starscream rolled his optics as he retorted, "First of all those relics are ancient technology, not magic. Second of all, magic and ancient technology are two different things."
Miko narrowed her eyes as she said, "Thich, as if! From what I've witness when Optimus used the hammer of Solus Prime to make a ground bridge into a space bridge, it had some real heavy duty magic powering the hammer. I could feel its magical energy coming off of the hammer. Also how come you got smaller or did I get bigger?"
Starscream just laughed as he replied with a smile, "I suggest that you don't look down."
Miko's brow arched up in confusion before she looked down. "Whoa! I'm flying?" she said as she looked behind her to see that her fairy wings were flapping rapidly so that she could be airborne.
Starscream rolled his optics as he murmured, "Finally she realizes that she's been flying this whole time."
Miko's ears perked up as she turned around towards Starscream as she said, "What was that, Screamy?"
"Nothing" he replied before he said annoyingly, "And would you quit calling me Screamy, human pet!"
"Would you stop calling me human pet!" she retorted while the two narrowed their eyes at one another in hatred.
"Oo, right back at him" Jack said to Raf.
Starscream grumbled as he turned his back to her while folding his arms and said, "Very well, Miko."
"Like wise, Starscream" Miko replied as she descended to the ground with the others.
"However, I still can't seem to understand how she could disappear and move at super speed without chanting a spell?" Starscream asked out loud.
"Yes, how did you do that, Miko?" Knock Out asked the teenager as she finally yet shakily flew towards the ground by the three guys.
She turned to Knock Out and responded, "Oh I used these jewels to do all that." She took out the black bag that had all fourteen priceless stones inside and showed it to the bots and Agent Fowler.
Agent Fowler's eyes widened as he said, "Are those real priceless stones?"
"Ah huh, they're legitimate alright" said Raf.
"Why I'll be darn. Where in Sam Hill did you find them?" Fowler said while putting his fists on his hips.
"I found them in Saphira's bag" replied Miko as she put the two gems she used earlier back into the bag.
"Ha! What do precious minerals have anything to do with what you did earlier? And who is this Saphira?" said Starscream.
Miko turned to him and replied, "Saphira is the girl that you Cons brutally experimented on five years ago. Also these gems are no ordinary stones." She paused for a moment before she continued, "These are the fifteen jewels of very powerful magical qualities that were supposed to be just myths and rumors."
"And how would you know?" questioned Starscream.
"My mentor and friend told me about them a long time ago" she replied sadly.
Meanwhile the medics and Arcee talked to Starscream to get him up to speed of what happened so far while Miko was recalling those memories about the jewel's story that her friend told her from six years ago.
*Flashback six years ago*
"Hey Anna!" Miko said excitedly while walking with her friend to their secret clubhouse.
Anna turned to look at Miko and replied, "What?"
Miko said enthusiastically, "What kind of neat magic trick are you going to teach me today! Oo wait, are we going to do a vanishing spell, or are we going to do more levitation techniques again? Or…"
"Miko, please keep it down. People would hear us" said Anna with concern in her voice.
"Ah would you chill lax a little, Anna. People are just going to think that we are going to do those cheap magic tricks not real magic spells. And besides we are the only ones on the sidewalk" Miko retorted to the worried light blue haired sorceress.
"I guess you're right but still, not everyone is going to believe that we are talking about those kinds of magic tricks. And besides, what I have planned for today is a surprise" Anna said with a wink.
Once the two got to their secret clubhouse in the forest on Anna's family's property, the two girls went to a huge cinnamomum camphora tree with a big wooden door on the trunk of the tree. Anna opened the door to their clubhouse as the two girls entered the surprisingly large room.
Anna then closed the door to their clubhouse so that nobody would hear them. Miko started to turn on all of the fake battery charged candles in the room so that they could see. Then the two girls turned to each other and started their meeting with their club meeting vow.
"Magic, Magic elements of wonder. Fills our dreams with the memories of each other" the two said simultaneously. The two then giggled for a few seconds before they both sat down on the ground. Anna then took out an ancient book and cracked it open.
"What are you looking up, Anna?" Miko asked as she leaned towards Anna to see what she was doing.
Anna smiled as she replied, "I was looking through my father's mystical artifacts book and found this." Anna showed Miko a page with fifteen jewels being scattered in the wind by a hooded sorcerer.
"What kind of artifact is it?" Miko asked while looking at the colorful jewels.
"These are the fifteen jewels of harmony. Legend says that a very powerful sorceress somehow enchanted fifteen jewels with powerful magic and superhuman capabilities. Each of these gems have a different power that is unique" Anna said to Miko who was fascinated with the legend.
"That is awesome! Where can we find them?" Miko said with enthusiasm in her voice.
"Well, they were scattered to the four corners of the world. Each one being guarded by a fierce mythical creature" Anna said as she closed the book.
"Oo, that's gonna be hard to explain to our parents. 'Oh hey mom, dad just so that you guys know, me and Anna here are going on a dangerous quest to find these magical jewels where they are being guarded by a mythical creature.' Ha! They'll ground us for sure" Miko said sarcastically.
"Yeah, and we have to pay a lot of money to go around the world, food, cloths, maps…." Anna said before she was interrupted by Miko.
"Ugh Anna, I was being sarcastic you know" Miko said to her.
"I know, but still if we are going to find all of them we would need money and resources on our quest" Anna replied.
"Wait, you really want to go on an adventure to find all fifteen of these magical gems?" Miko asked.
Anna nodded her head and replied, "Yes, I feel that if we find these stones, we could help protect the world from potential evil."
Miko's eyes widened as she said, "We could be like superheroes! Or even better, we could be like the real sailor scouts!"
Anna laughed as she replied, "Yeah, so what do you say? Would you like to go on a quest together and find them all to protect the world?"
Miko smiled and replied, "Like I would not accept something like this. Yeah, I'm in. And together, we will face any challenges that come our way!"
Anna giggled and said, "Ah huh, together we will go where no one has dared to venture."
"You promise we will look for these magical stones when we are older, right?" Miko asked while looking into Anna's yellow eyes.
Anna smiled sincerely as she replied, "I promise, Watashi no tamashī no shimai."
Then the two giggled together like as if they were truly twin sisters before the memory faded away to the present.
*End of Flashback*
Miko looked sadly at the gems as a tear drop fell from her cheek. "Yeah, a quest together" she mumbled sadly to herself. She then clenched the bag a little tighter as she whispered, "We were supposed to find these together, Anna."
