This is the final chapter of this story, which is about freaking time. I made so many damn edits to this chapter because I honestly was having trouble deciding how I wanted to finish it. I'm content enough with the finished product, and to be honest I just want to be done with this story so that I can finally start working on others that I've been wanting to do for weeks now. Sorry it took me a little longer to post this, but my internet was acting up a lot in the past few days. And people kept bothering me. I don't know about you, but I can't fucking concentrate when I have a bunch of idiots yapping in my ear while I'm trying to write. On that note, please read and review.
Sweet Temptations
Chapter Twenty-One: Parting Words
Hinata lay in her bed, glancing listlessly at her clock. It was almost time for her to get up and get ready for work. If she went to work, that is. She'd lied awake the entire night, anxiously debating whether or not she should show up for her last day at Akatsuki Enterprises. After what had happened yesterday, she didn't know if she could face Hidan. I told him I loved him... She sighed and rolled over onto her side, hugging her pillow close to her. It would probably be better if I didn't go in today. Nevertheless, as awkward and painful it would be to see him again, she wanted to say' goodbye' to him. It was the least she could do.
After showering and getting dressed, Hinata made the drive to work just like she'd had for the past few months. Today, she was somewhat grateful for the slow traffic, desperately needing to recollect herself if she was going to come face to face with him. She ruefully wondered what he was going to say to her. Hidan had made it apparent that he cared for her, but had her confession of love been a bit premature for him? Probably. With any luck, maybe he would go about his day without bringing it up. A small part of her hoped otherwise. Why? To make things that much more complicated? He's going to marry Reina and that's all there is to it.
The indigo-haired woman eventually arrived at her destination, her heart pounding wildly in her chest. As she entered the building, she couldn't help but feel light-headed, as if she was about faint. She remembered the first time she fainted in front of Hidan. The humiliation of waking up in the man's arms had been short-lived as he crashed his lips against hers in a fiery kiss. Moments later, she'd been pinned to the floor with her lustful boss on top of her. She closed her eyes and sighed, reliving that kiss in her mind. It had been so fiercely passionate, taking her breath away.
Hinata stepped into the now-fixed elevator, waiting as the doors closed and began its ascent up. What am I going to say to him? Maybe I should just act like it never happened. Yeah, that would probably be the best option. Despite trying to calm herself down, her body trembled with nervous anticipation. She willed herself not to pass out right then and there. That was the last thing she needed at that point in time. Luckily for her, she made it to her designated floor before her body allowed that to happen and she got out of the elevator. Shizune was nowhere to be seen, but the door to Hidan's office was slightly ajar. He was already there.
After a moment of hesitation, Hinata quietly entered the office, where Hidan was standing by the coffee area. He was muttering obscenities under his breath as he dumped a bag of coffee grounds into a filter, spilling some on the counter. The man was unaware of her presence as he impatiently wiped the mess onto the floor with his hand.
"Stupid fucking coffee," he grumbled, clearly agitated.
If you're going to run, do it now! Swallowing the lump in her throat, Hinata walked over to him and softly spoke up. "Umm, g-good morning, H-Hidan-Sama."
The silver-haired man whirled around to face her, a shocked expression on his face. "Hinata? I wasn't expecting you to come in today." As usual, his violet eyes scanned over her body, mentally approving of his assistant's attire. Today she was dressed in a light blue short-sleeved button-up blouse and a beige skirt that ended mid-thigh. Since her bruises and welts were gone by now, she no longer needed thigh highs to keep her legs covered. She'd left them bare, completing her attire with low-heeled beige colored sandals.
Hinata stiffened at his words, feeling a painful sensation in her heart. Had he not wanted her to come in? She immediately felt stupid for showing up at all, regretting her decision to come in. "I-I'm sorry. If y-you don't w-want me here, I'll l-leave," she murmured tearfully. Wiping her eyes, she turned to leave, not wishing to bother him any further.
All of a sudden, Hidan's hand wrapped around her wrist and he pulled her back. "No, don't." He spun her around so that she was facing him, and he placed his hands firmly on her shoulders. "I don't want you to fucking leave. I just thought that you wouldn't have wanted to come in."
"Well...I debated it," she admitted, tearing her gaze away from his. "B-but I at least wanted to say 'goodbye' to you."
The older male tilted her face up so that she had no choice but to look up at him. "Did you mean what you said to me yesterday? That you loved me?" He was as blunt and straight-to-the-point as always.
Panicking, Hinata began to stammer out an explanation. "I-I thought w-w-we were going t-to die and-"
"Hina-Chan," he gently interrupted her, using that cute nickname she'd never thought she'd hear him use again. "Did you mean it? Just fucking tell me."
"Why does it matter?" she asked in a defeated tone, her shoulders slumping a bit. "After today, we'll never see each other again and-"
Hidan cut off her again, though this time, it was because he leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. He pulled her into his arms for a tight embrace, inhaling the sweet scent of her hair. Hinata's lips quivered slightly against his, as if she was going to start crying. However, she didn't push him away this time, as she no longer had the strength to do so. Nor did she want to. Her arms wrapped around his neck, responding with her own needy kiss. Hidan intensified it even more, this time using his tongue to coax hers to dance with his. His fingers entwined themselves into her dark hair and he could hear a soft moan escape her. Hinata gasped when he nipped at her lower lip, and she was vaguely aware of her breasts squishing up against his hard chest.
"What the hell is the meaning of this?" A harsh voice boomed from the doorway.
Startled, the couple jerked their attention directly at the owner of the voice, realizing with dread that it Hidan's father. Equally embarrassed and terrified, Hinata released her hold on Hidan, only to find that he did not let go of her. Instead, the silver-haired man continue to hold her close, his gaze locked on Jirou with a smug, challenging expression.
"What the fuck does it look like to you?" Hidan scoffed indignantly.
"Oh, I know what it looks like," Jirou responded as he took a few steps forward. "I just wanted a damn explanation. I take it as you've decided to go against my advice and do whatever you wanted. You just made the biggest mistake of your life, Hidan."
Hinata looked up at Hidan, her expression filled with worry. What was Jirou going to do? Was he going to disown Hidan just like he'd threatened to? She couldn't let that happen. Just as she was about to open her mouth to protest, Hidan beat her to it.
"No, my biggest mistake was not telling you to fuck off sooner," he drawled carelessly. "Take your fucking company and shove it up your ass. Shove Reina up there, too, while you're at it."
For once, Jirou looked stunned at what had just been said. "You're really going to pull this stunt? You're really willing to screw everything up just for some girl you hired?" He turned his attention on Hinata, causing her to shrink back in Hidan's arms with fear. "I was willing to help you find a new job, but now, you'll be lucky if you get work at a coffee shop. I could've just stripped you of your position right then and there, but I decided to be nice and give you a week. I see now that I shouldn't have bothered."
"You forced her to resign?" Hidan demanded, his anger reaching new heights. "You fucking-"
"Hey, what the hell are you two bitching about?"
Everyone's attention was shifted to the new voice that had imposed on their 'conversation'. A woman was standing in the doorway, her face filled with mild annoyance at the two bantering men. She appeared to be in her forties, with pale blue eyes and shiny silvery hair that flowed down past her shoulders. Her outfit consisted of a light blue business suit with a white button-up beneath her open blazer.
"Seriously," the woman remarked with an annoyed sigh. "What am I going to do with you...?"
"Your son here is being a moron, Akemi," Jirou snarled as he glowered at Hidan. "He's going to throw everything away, all for this girl here."
Hidan rolled his eyes and grabbed hold of Hinata's hand, enveloping it in his much larger one. "Fuck this, I'm outta here. It was nice knowing you, ya dick."
"Now hold on just a damn minute!" Jirou practically yelled and went to go storm over to them, only for his wife to grab hold of his arm.
"Hang on," she told her fuming husband as she scrutinized a self-conscious Hinata for several seconds.
Jirou growled. "For what?"
Ignoring him, Akemi walked over to her son and his assistant, a curious expression on her face. "I know that we've never met, but...you look kind of familiar... No, wait a sec! Are you related to Misaki by any chance?"
"Who the fuck is Misaki?" Hidan scoffed, wanting to just get out of there. "Come on, Hinata. My mother is fucking crazy."
"Misaki is my mother's name," Hinata replied, perplexed.
"Oh, my fucking god! Really? I knew it! I friggen knew it!" Akemi boasted happily, then turn and looked at her husband, clearly pissed. "You mean to tell me that our son's assistant is Misaki and Hiashi's daughter and you tried to get rid of her? Are you out of your fucking mind!? Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?"
At this point all Jirou could do was sweat-drop in embarrassment. "Uh...I didn't know that-"
"How many people out there have those same fucking eyes?" The woman scolded him. It was clear where Hidan got his profanity-riddled vocabulary from. "Geez, you're an idiot. So not only did you try to fire her, but now you want to break her and Hidan up. Screw this, I need a drink." She found her way over to the bar, where she proceeded to make herself a drink. "I swear, you two will be the death of me..."
"What the fuck is going on?" Hidan muttered, running a hand through his hair. "You know Hinata? Or, her mother, I should say. How?"
Akemi took a long sip. "Oh, we went to college together," Akemi replied casually. "You weren't around yet obviously, but I figured that your father would've at least remembered. You know, especially considering that he used to do some business with Hiashi."
Jirou looked sheepish. "Um..." He felt pretty stupid at that point.
"Anyway," Akemi continued, shifting her attention back to Hinata, "It's crazy that we just randomly meet under these circumstance. What are the fucking chances, huh? Come on, let's go talk."
As Hinata was led out of the room by the excited silver-haired woman, Hidan glanced over at his equally stunned father. "...What the fuck just happened?"
"I don't know...but I need a drink, too," Jirou muttered.
Later that afternoon
"Uchiha-Sama?"
Madara sighed and looked up from his work as his secretary poked her head into his office. "What is it, Karin?"
The red-haired female shrank back a bit. "U-uh, it's just that, uh, Hidan-San has sent someone here for you."
"Hidan sent someone? What do you mean by that?" He asked, frowning with confusion.
"H-He sent you his former assistant, I guess. You've been looking for someone to fill that position, right?" Karin asked nervously under his steely gaze.
Madara smirked. "Did he now? That's quite a nice surprise. Send in this new assistant."
"Right away," she nervously replied, retreating back to go fetch the person.
The raven-haired male sat back in his seat with a smile of satisfaction. Looks like Hinata decided to change her mind about working for me. It's obvious that she couldn't pass up my offer. And she was right to, considering how much of an idiot Hidan is...
However, much to his shock, a young man with short brown hair and an orange swirled mask entered the room, tripping over his own feet in the process. The masked man let out a yelp, falling face-first onto the floor.
Madara sweat-dropped at the clumsy display. "Just who the hell are you?"
"Ow..." The man picked himself up off the floor, brushed off his clothes, then sheepishly scratched the back of his head. "Oh, right! My name is Tobi! Hidan-Sama sent me here!"
"Um...what?" The Uchiha gawked at him. "But I thought Karin said that Hidan sent his former assistant."
"You're looking at him!" Tobi remarked cheerfully. "I am Hidan-Sama's former assistant!"
Madara groaned, slumping down a bit. "You're joking, right? What about that girl, Hinata? I was under the impression that she was coming."
Tobi laughed as though it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard. "No, Hinata-Chan is still Hidan-Sama's assistant. But the good thing is that even if I work at a different company, she's still going to send me cookies once a week! Isn't that great!?"
"So...you're my new assistant, then?" The Uchiha asked in a disappointed tone.
"Yup! If you look at my resume, you can see just how many important skills I have that would make me just perfect for this position!" Tobi excitedly told him, holding out a manilla folder that seemed jam-packed with numerous sheets of paper.
Madara quirked an eyebrow incredulously, taking the folder from the overly cheerful masked man. "And why don't you work for Hidan anymore?"
"Um...something about a stapler. I can't really remember..." Tobi trailed off, scratching his head as he failed to recall the details while Madara warily flipped through the contents of his 'resume'.

Madara's eye twitched as he looked at another sheet of paper. "What the hell is the meaning of this!?" He held up a photocopied image of someone's bare ass.
"Oh, that's mine!" Tobi laughed, grabbing the paper from him. "Wonder how that got in there. Anyway, what did you think of my resume? Pretty impressive, huh?" He seemed oblivious to the fact that Madara was steadily banging his head against his desk.
That evening
"Tobi had a great first day working for that Uchiha bastard. He managed to spill a pot a coffee all over Madara's lap," Hidan snickered. "Well, to be technical, he tripped and sent the pot flying across the room and Madara happened to be exactly where it landed."
Hinata sighed, her naked body snuggled close to his while they lay in bed together. "So, I take it that Tobi's no longer employed by him, then."
"No, but I wasn't expecting him to keep him around. I just wanted to fuck with Madara and let him get his hopes up. He's lucky that's all I'm going to do in retaliation for hitting on you," the silver-haired man growled, pulling her closer.
She looked up at him in surprise. "B-But I didn't tell you about that. How do you know?"
"I have my ways," he replied vaguely, not admitting that Itachi had told him about the incident. "Anyway, Tobi will be back to work with us tomorrow. I told him that he can tag along with Deidara all day since he went out and did that to Madara," he added with a snicker, knowing just how ticked off Deidara would be when he found out.
"Well, I'm just glad that everything worked out in the end," Hinata murmured. "I'm just shocked that your mother knew mine."
Hidan snorted. "Heh, no shit. Fucking weird how that all happened. Too bad my father was too fucking stupid to figure shit out on his own. Guarantee his ass is going to be sleeping on the couch for at least a week or so. I swear, the only one who can ever put that bastard in his place is my mother. Crazy bitch."
"You shouldn't speak that way about your mother," the younger woman gently chastised him. "After all, if it wasn't for her, everything-"
"Regardless of my mother stepping in, I already knew what I was going to do. I wasn't lying when I told my father to shove the company and everything else up his ass. I should've fucking done it sooner," he muttered, furious with himself. "I should've just done that from the fucking start. Then you wouldn't have had to go through all that misery."
Hinata smiled, rubbing his arm reassuringly. "It wasn't your fault-"
"It was," he cut her off again, his tone even angrier than before. "I'm a fucking asshole for not doing it, and I honestly don't deserve you because of it." His violet eyes gazed into her lavender ones, regret evident in them. "Nothing I can do or say will make up for everything I put you through. I have no fucking excuse for it. The company doesn't matter to me. My family doesn't matter to me if they're willing to disown me over something ridiculous like me not wanting to go through an arranged marriage. I kept telling myself that I would come up with a fucking plan so that we could still be together, but all I did was wait around like an idiot, doing absolutely nothing. You're better off without me, Hinata." Hidan moved away from her, clearly ashamed of himself. "Look, I really suck at this whole sappy romance bullshit, so I'm only going to say it once. I fucking love you and want to be with you, but you deserve better. I think I'm going to go."
"But...we're at your house," she pointed out.
"Oh... Fuck, you're right."
Hinata moved closer to him, grabbing onto his hand with her smaller one. "I don't care whether you think you deserve me or not. I want to be with you, too. And besides, I think your mother will kill you if we don't get back together."
"Yeah, probably," Hidan admitted with a smirk. "Still, I feel like an asshole for everything."
"Well, there are other ways for us to fix this. I know how you can make it up to me," she teased.
Hidan raised an eyebrow, amused. "Really? How?"
"Some punishment," she responded vaguely, pulling him towards her so she could plant a soft kiss on his neck. "Might be a little painful," she added, nipping at the spot. Her hand slipped in between his legs, grabbing hold of his manhood. She lightly made circles on his tip with her thumb, causing a few beads of pre-cum to drip from it.
The silver-haired man groaned with desire, his arms wrapping around her. "I like where this is going...but you can punish me later. For now-" He grabbed a handful of her hair and tugged, forcing her to look up at him so he could crash his lips against hers.
Before she knew it, Hinata was pinned underneath Hidan, whom had already recovered from their previous session that they'd ended not even ten minutes ago. She moaned in ecstasy as his throbbing member buried itself deep inside of her, rhythmically moving back and forth as he moved his hips. Hidan leaned down and kissed her, his thrusts growing more intense.
"I don't expect you to go easy on me later," he growled into her ear, nipping at her lower lip.
Hinata smiled cutely. "I don't intend to."
"Good. I won't go fucking easy on you either." Hidan continued to slam into her, not holding back at all. He needed this release even more than he realized. That first round really hadn't done much to curb his horniness. He figured he'd be 'alright' after their sixth or seventh round. Hina-Chan does need to be able to walk tomorrow, so maybe you shouldn't fuck her into oblivion, Dumbass. He considered the thought for a moment, not missing a beat as he pounded into his lover. Nah, fuck it. Maybe we'll both just call in 'sick' tomorrow.
It wasn't long before he reached his peak, feeling himself ready to burst. However, instead of filling her up a second time with his seed, he pulled out of her and roughly yanked her up, shoving his cock into her mouth right as he exploded. Hinata eagerly swallowed his load, knowing damn well that he wouldn't loosen his grip on her until she'd finished. Fine by her.
With a satisfied grin, Hidan let go of her once Hinata had swallowed it all. She'd even licked him clean afterwards like a good little assistant. Maybe it was time for another raise.
Hinata shakily got off the bed, trying to catch her breath a bit. Two sessions in under an hour was exhausting, and she knew that it wouldn't be long until Hidan initiated yet another one. "I-I'm going to take a shower," she told him, sweeping some hair out of her face. "Umm, do you want to join me?"
"You really need to fucking ask?" he quipped, getting up as well. "Where did you think I wanted our next round to be?"
"Only if you carry me out of the shower when we're done," Hinata told him as he tugged her towards the bathroom.
Hidan snickered. "Shouldn't be an issue. Oh, and by the way, since the wedding's off, you are now free to push Reina down an elevator shaft whenever you feel like it. Though I have a feeling that we won't be seeing that bitch any time soon."
"How did she take it?" the indigo-haired woman asked.
"Who knows? I wanted to have the pleasure of breaking the news to her, but Mother Dearest insisted on doing it herself. Whatever, I guess. Now I don't have to deal with her annoying ass anymore. I have a feeling that she's not taking the news well, though," he added with a sadistic chuckle.
Elsewhere
"I don't believe it," Reina seethed, storming out of her father's house. "Are they really going to pull that shit on me? After everything I put up with, they're just going to drop me like a sack of bricks?! Screw that! This isn't over!"
"Ummm, Miss? Who are you talking to? Oh! Are you wearing one of those cool Bluetooth devices!? I've always wanted one of those. Even if I don't actually talk to anyone with it, people might stop giving me crazy looks while I'm talking to myself."
The blonde woman turned her head to see the copy machine guy from Akatsuki Enterprises driving his car alongside of her while she walked. Tobi was the moron's name. And, as usual, he was wearing that stupid orange-swirled mask.
"What the hell do you want?" She snapped at him, clearly annoyed.
"Umm, good question... Oh, a pretzel sounds amazing! Or Hinata-Chan's cookies!" He exclaimed.
Reina could practically feel her blood boil. "Don't say that fucking name in front of me! Now leave me the hell alone, you damn loser!"
"Can I drive you to your car? I got a new stereo put in," Tobi informed her. "But I need a second opinion about what's wrong with one of my speakers."
"I don't need a ride to my fucking car!" she exclaimed, briskly crossing the street. "I need you to go fuck your-" She was suddenly bumped by a station wagon that was going no more than twenty-five miles an hour, driven by an elderly couple.
After Reina bounced off the hood of the vehicle and toppled onto the pavement, an old woman stuck her head out the passenger side window to see what had happened. She then looked over at her equally confused husband. "I think you hit something."
"A parking cone again?" he asked deliriously.
Tobi looked down at Reina, whom was sprawled out on the road with a dazed look on her face. "Can I drive you to the hospital? I got a new stereo put in, but I need a second opinion about what's wrong with one of my speakers."
And that wraps up this seemingly never-ending story that was slowly but surely starting to sap the life out of me. I did not expect it to be this long of a story, but oh well. As I said before, I am content with how I ended it and apologize if any of you are not. I have no intentions of making a sequel.
Anyway, I will be taking a week or so off to kind of just relax and clear my mind because I feel like my head is going to explode if I don't calm the hell down about stupid unimportant things. But I have two multi-chapter stories that I will be working on and will post by the beginning of February (possibly sooner).
Game of Death: Twenty-five high school students are forced to participate in a bloody battle for their lives. They are fitted with electronic collars and have only twelve hours to kill each other off until only one of them is left. Or they all die. Based on the visual novel, Battle Royale. This is a NaruHina story but there will be several other pairings as well (most of them canon). Will be 7-8 chapters.
Drowning in Darkness: Sequel to Descent into Darkness. No summary available yet because I'm half asleep and too incompetent to think of one in this state. Obviously HidaHina but will have somewhat of a HidaHinaNaru triangle going on :3 Not sure how many chapters it will be.
Stay tuned for those upcoming stories ^^
