NOTE: Where do I start? My life has run me over with a steam roller and then backed up and did it a few more times! Going to have to go up state for testing on my Lupus because apparently my last doc (who I really liked BTW) gave me a diagnosis of Lupus and then put nothing and I mean nothing about it in my records… (Way to go doc) So, I'm starting over. Went to my new doc… (Awesome BTW) and she says I have water on and in my lungs… But I'm not at that rice crispy stage (Been there done that x3) So, anyways… I figure I'm upright at the moment so I'm going to get this posted if it kills me! Also, to all the fav-ers, reviewers an readers alike… THANK YOU ALL, HUGGS! ~iamtryN
From the end of Chapter 20:
"Dean?" Sammy rested his hand gently on Dean's back as Dean moaned as he muttered, "I hate that kind of déjà vu."
"What?" Sam asked leaning closer.
Dean groaned as his hand headed towards his head.
Now, on to Chapter 21
Sammy slapped it away. He then swung one of Dean's arms over his shoulder and grunted in pain as he lifted Dean to a standing position.
"Sa…" Dean tried to say, he needed to tell him, he wasn't ready… he tried to let him do it his way. But losing Sam, he just didn't want to give him up, not yet. "Not…".
"Shut up, Dean. Concentrate on moving those legs." Sammy growled as he pulled Dean towards the door… toward safety. Away from one of the many evils that wanted to separate them.
"By the way Sammy, this is number 1." Lucifer's voice carried through the jailhouse and followed them mockingly as Sam moved Dean onwards to the exit.
"Number one?" He muttered, repeating but not soaking it in as he continued to half carry Dean.
Lucifer laughed when Dean mumbled, "Sorry, Sammy." as his knees buckled under him. Dean wanted to say so much more but he was hurtin' like a bitch.
"Don't you dare give up. Not after…" His voice faded away to panic when he saw a tear slide down Dean's face. His eyes slowly started to close as he went from trying to help Sam to a limp noodle falling away from him.
He grabbed onto Dean's shirt and shook him while he yanked him back towards himself; he yelled, "Don't you dare leave me here by myself! Not after everything. D…"
Lucifer interrupted to mock, "So touching." as he casually watched from the cell. He was really in no hurry to see his game end. This was the most fun he'd had in centuries.
Sammy finally pulled Dean into a fireman's carry and walked out. He wasn't giving Lucifer the satisfaction of a response. He was mentally kicking himself for getting Dean into this mess. He should have known Dean wouldn't leave it alone. Even "done Dean" had to go past what was asked of him… What any sane person expected. He staggered a little after he crossed the threshold to the sagging porch of the building.
He decided to take Dean to Bobby and then he would go back and finish what he started.
He never saw Lucifer appear behind him. He heard the scream from Bobby, that had Bobby lunging forward only to be held back by the Indians. Sam tried to move Dean off his shoulders and in front of him; but before he could Dean was blasted out of his arms and away from him as he landed hard on his face. He cursed before he lifted his head to try to locate his brother.
"Bobby… get Dean." He yelled or at least he tried as his eyes made contact with Bobby.
He was flipped over and was soon staring at an enraged Lucifer. "Sammyboy you will pay for that."
"For what?" He asked from his position on the ground.
"You think you can take Dean out of the equation… I say when the game is over. Not you." Lucifer roared his eyes flickering different colors in his rage.
"Okay." He gasped out as he tried to sit up. He involuntarily grabbed his side as his ribs protested.
"Okay? Just like that?" Lucifer asked with a smirk. Lucifer lifted his hand and Sam rose into a sitting position before being manipulated into a standing position like a marionette. Lucifer chose to ignore Sam's grunts of pain as he plotted his next moves.
Sam watched as Dean was dragged away by Bobby and the Indians.
"Yeah. Just like that." He focused on Lucifer looking him the eye as he continued, "See my family is safe from you. So yeah, I'm okay with this. The world will continue on without us." He gave a shrug, like he could care less.
"How noble." Lucifer growled before he smiled. How could he be upset? He was getting his vessel. He had won!
"You and I both know I am far from noble. But you didn't win…" Sammy glanced over his shoulder again to take in a Dean still be looked over by Bobby.
Lucifer frowned before he decided to glare at Sam.
Sam turned back to face Lucifer before he added clearly, "He doesn't hate me."
"He?" Lucifer raised an eyebrow while folding his arms casually across his chest.
"Dean." Sam said with a morose little smile. It was sad that all the time wasted wouldn't amount to anything. He'd never get to say what he wanted to his big brother.
Lucifer smirked as he glanced from Dean to Sam. "Well, look who's awake. Just in time for the big, bad showdown."
Sam looked over his shoulder and moaned. He wanted Dean to be out until it was over. When it was too late to try to save him.
Sam didn't see Lucifer raise hand or anything that he was doing. He saw Dean's eyes widen in fright as he screamed Sammy's name. Then he was airborne before the wind was slammed out of his chest. His body met the resistance of a corner of a building. Fuck, it hurt! He lay trying to breathe through the pain that blossomed in his chest.
Dean snapped at Bobby, "Damn it let me go!" He knew part of the reason Bobby could so easily man handle him into place was the bang to the head and what ever the stinging sensation in his back was. "I mean it Bobby. I will never forgive you if you don't!"
Lucifer laughed as he flung Sam once again, this time into a hitching post and then waited patiently for him to get back up. Lucifer cackled as Dean continued to scream obscenities. Smiling, he stalked over to Sam as he staggered to his feet… again.
"Damn it Sammy! Fight!" Dean screamed finally as he doubled his efforts to get away from Bobby.
Sam knew the only way to fight the devil was the one thing Dean didn't want him doing. So he chose to do nothing, at least with his… powers. He wasn't going to fuck up again. He wasn't going to have Dean see the last of his brother be Sam betraying him yet again!
Dean knew what Sam was not doing and why and he found he didn't care if Sam used his powers. Hell at this point he didn't care if lasers shot out of Sam's ass as long as he lived.
"Sammy, TAKE him down!" Dean screamed as he focused completely on making Sam
save himself.
Sam gave a jerk of his head in acknowledgement and raised his hand. He knew it really didn't work all that well without demon blood, but if Dean wanted it that way...
Dean gave a sigh of relief which froze on his lips as he watched Lucifer rag doll his brother. "NO!" Dean screamed as he listened to his no reverberating off the town's buildings. Fat lot of good that did. Did it stop Lucifer? Fuck no it didn't! The little annoying voice in his head scornfully crowed.
Lucifer grabbed Sam by the throat and picked him up. Plopping him down into a horse trough; he held him under. He laughed at the even more colorful language now coming from a clearly enraged Winchester brother as Sam struggled for air. He looked over his shoulder as he saw Dean still being held back by Bobby and an Indian.
Bobby's tormented eyes met Deans' and locked as they seemed to communicate silently. It seemed to Dean that Bobby stared for an eternity before sighing and lowering his gaze with a nod; he dropped his hands away from Dean. Letting him go.
When Sam stopped struggling Lucifer pulled him out and flung him toward Dean. "Come and get 'im Winchester."
Dean screamed Sam's name and lunged away from Bobby. The pain forgotten as he hurtled towards Sam and started searching for a pulse. Finding a weak thready one, he screamed at Lucifer, "Damn you to hell you sorry son-ofa-bitch!" Causing a deep belly laugh from Satan himself.
Dean looked frantically around until he found what he'd been looking for… the cuffs half buried in the dirt where he'd drop them beside Sam. He didn't give Lucifer a chance to move as he lunged at him, slapping the cuff on a surprised devil. He looked down struck still by his awe that Dean had caught him off guard. A few seconds later he roared and lifted Dean off the ground, trying to shake him off the other cuff. Dean started his Latin freezing spell. The Devil froze… He was stunned as Dean, with a smirk snapped the other cuff in place. He'd gotten too cocky and Dean had won.
"You think this is over? That you've won? I'm the King of Hell. I will bring legions upon you." He roared impotently.
Dean stood and faced off with Lucifer as he quickly placed himself between Sam and the devil. As he finished the chant that left the devil frozen. Dean spared a glance down at Sam. Sam whose chest was no longer rising and falling, he dropped to his knees and immediately placed a shaking hand upon Sam's chest.
Neither Dean nor Sam heard the Indians. The world, the devil… everything slammed to a stop as Dean focused solely on his brother. He reached out and brushed the hair back out of his little brother's face, leaving his hand on his cheek a few seconds longer as he mumbled, "Awh, Sammy… I'm sorry." Suddenly the moment was shattered as Sam was yanked from Dean.

P.S. Fight scenes aren't really my "thing" but I really tried to make this one a little more "meaty". Hope you enjoyed!
