"Ladies, what is the matter?" Serena asked as she looked at the silent team. **And there's the silence I was expecting. **
Serena raised a slender eyebrow, looking at the seven shell shocked Senshi that stood in front of her and Darien, on the opposite ends of the kitchen table. Serena was not the person to handle complete quiet, and stood from her chair with a huff of air escaping from her rosy red lips showing her frustration at the situation. It had only been five minutes since she and Darien had revealed who they truly were under Usagi and Mamoru.
"Angel, it's ok." Darien whispered, as he rubbed her back.
"It's too quiet." Serena moaned as she leaned against him. "You and I both know that I don't like this."
Darien's arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her closer, and as Serena looked up once more, she noticed the Senshi still remaining in their previous position but with varying different looks. Though one thing was similar and that was that each Senshi had a downcast look on their features, despite their eyes telling a different story as they looked down at their feet. Serena and Darien could tell the varying expressions ranged from anger to sadness to disbelief and back again, as they turned to look at each other.
**Your faces tell me all I need to know, ladies. ** Serena thought with a frown. **It is because of whom I am that you do not speak. **
"I don't know why I bother." Serena muttered as she glanced down at her nails.
"Angel!" Darien hissed down at her.
Serena looked up from her nails, her eyes wide, as she felt a familiar shoot through her young figure and knew who it was, before shaking her head as she looked over at Darien. Darien raised a slender eyebrow, before Serena pulled out of his arms and walked into the adjourning main room. Fortunately her movements had brought the Senshi out of their shocked state, and they followed Darien and her into the main room, not saying a word as they glanced at each other.
"Angel?" Darien couldn't help but ask.
"Drake and Suzanne are here." Serena whispered as she walked over to the window.
Darien's eyes widened and Serena closed her eyes as she pulled on the inner link with her sister, hearing the familiar gasps from the seven Senshi, knowing at that point, they were looking at her in fright. Darien's bond with his twin brother had come alive once more, and he looked over in worry at Serena, wondering why his brother and Suzanne were in the country.
"Lady Suzanne and Prince Drake are here?" Minako asked with a squeak. "But how? Surely?"
"Unfortunately, yes." Serena muttered as she looked up. "My sister and the remainder of our two families live in America, if that should not answer your question, I don't know what will."
"Angel?" Darien asked as he looked in shock. **Why are they here all of a sudden? **
"I'm not saying anything, but surely there should be a reason." Serena yelped, as she held her hands up in surrender. "Drake tends to take my safety and health to a whole new level, especially after this morning's fright."
"We didn't say anything." Haruka stated with wide eyes.
Serena rolled her eyes as she fell back onto the couch, with a small scowl on her soft features, watching as the others took a seat around her and Darien took a seat next to her. As Darien looked over at her, he knew that they would need to have a conversation soon about what had happened, but now was not the time, especially with his brother's re-appearance. Serena sighed and rolled her eyes as she felt a sharp twinge within her mind, and scowled.
**I am definitely going to maim him. ** Serena thought to herself and shook her head rapidly to clear her thoughts. **I don't need to have those thoughts in my mind. **
"Can we get to business?" Hotaru asked as she blinked at Serena.
**I fear for the future of this planet. ** Hotaru thought as she glanced away. **It feels like we will lose you once more, Lady Princess. **
"Ah yes." Serena stated with a nod. "I believe you guys have questions you want to be answered?"
The inner Senshi blinked at Serena's ever changing reactions and moods, before turning to glance amongst them. Serenity DeLune had always been a walking liability, but she stood up for her siblings, no matter what was going up against her, whether it was her own family or an outsider. Unfortunately the issues that arose in the Silver Millennium had caused more harm than good especially when the bane of those issues, had unfortunately been related to Serena alone.
"How do we know you won't leave?" Ami was the first to break the silence.
"How do you know I will?" Serena whispered in return, her lips turning into a frown.
"You did last time." Ami stated as she looked over. "Even when you said you wouldn't."
"That was last time, over 10,000 years ago, Amelia!" Serena growled, as she stood from her seat. "I am not the same person that I was back then, and I will not dare to put myself or my family at risk."
Serena walked over the balcony, and leaned against the wall as she stared out at the streets of Tokyo, wishing that she was another civilian who could go about their day to day lives without issues, but she wasn't and she never could be. The stress and duties of her part as a Soldier, was too much for any normal person to bear and she would not allow her burden to fall on someone else. Darien frowned, knowing from conversations with his siblings in the past, that the disappearance and the fall of both of their Kingdoms was a painful subject for his other half.
"Angel, you know that they were only asking." Darien breathed as he looked at her.
"I know, but it was because of me that the Silver Era fell." Serena whispered as she glanced over her shoulder.
"No it wasn't." Darien breathed as he stood from his seat and walked over. **Why must you repeatedly blame yourself for what happened, Angel? It was by our hand and our treatment of you that caused you to disappear within the first place, no one save for Drake knowing where you'd gone and how you were. **
The Senshi looked up in shock, at Serena's statement, and shook their heads watching as Darien pulled Serena into his arms. Serena had responded with a slight whimper, and buried her face in his shoulder. The link between the couple became alive once more, and Serena breathed out a sigh, as the Senshi became lost in their own thoughts.
:: Why did you not say anything, Angel? :: Darien asked as he placed his chin onto the crown of her head.
:: I didn't want you to worry, Dimi. :: Serena whispered softly. :: One Chiba is enough to give me a headache that would last a lifetime. ::
:: Angel, you're hiding something. :: Darien stated, as he glanced over in worry.
:: You'll find out soon. :: Serena replied as she turned away. :: I'm your other half but you cannot force me to speak. ::
:: You're my other half and a Chiba as well, my sweet. :: Darien hissed, as he felt the flutter of her heart.
:: I was a Chiba, Endymion, not anymore. :: Serena growled, as she tilted her head, her eyes narrowed in displeasure. :: I'm a Moon through and through, and I will not tolerate any more pain. ::
:: Not to my family and certainly not to yours. :: A scowl appeared as the Senshi jumped.
:: You are still mine. :: Darien frowned at her as he kissed away the frown. :: That makes you a Chiba. ::
:: Always, my love. :: Serena smiled as she turned away.
After a moment or so, the couple returned to their seats and Ami bowed her head in apology, struggling to come to terms with how much she had hurt Serena by one question. Serena had repeatedly beaten herself up so many times with the events of the past, and it was time for that to stop, as Serena remained within Darien's arms.
"I'm sorry, my lady." Ami whispered, with a bowed head.
"It's fine Amelia." Serena looked up with a gentle smile.
"What do you wish us to do, Lady Serenity?" Makoto asked as she bowed her head.
"No more questions about my past." Serena whispered as she looked away. "The curse that my cousin put, due to what happened to me has already destroyed so much, and there is still so much disaster this planet needs to heal from."
"It will be done." Michiru agreed with a nod of her head.
Serena raised a slender eyebrow, and winced as she rubbed her head, but this time, Darien caught the slight green glow that covered Serena before it vanished. Thankfully it wasn't identifiable to the Senshi, and Darien looked at Serena in worry, knowing that it was his brother's spark of energy that was playing up and protecting his sister-in-law, in a way that Darien would not be able to.
:: I'm fine, Dimi. :: Serena whispered, as her blue eyes darkened in worry. :: Drake's helping whilst I get my migraines under control. ::
:: Angel, why is Drake? :: Darien started to ask, before he blinked in shock.
:: The migraines have started again? :: Darien switched his mind.
:: Yes. I am a seer, Dimi. :: Serena sighed with a slight shake of her head. :: I'll explain later about it when more of us are present. ::
:: You and Drake better, my sweet. :: Darien nodded in affirmative. :: I think the time for secrets and keeping everyone in the dark about things should end. ::
Serena turned back to look at the Senshi from the comfort of Darien's arms, her eyes narrowing as she remembered something.
"You will not know this as the girls may not have informed you." Serena stated with a frown.
"The girls pleaded with the Alliance and I to keep you as their Senshi." Serena confirmed when all of them looked up. "Against my better judgement I put you in charge of the protection of both of my younger sisters."
"WHAT!" The Senshi shrieked causing Serena to wince.
"Girls, the Universal Alliance needs to know if you are the ones capable." Serena scowled as she shook her head.
"It wasn't the Silver Alliance." Makoto asked as she blinked. "Why?"
"No dear one." Serena turned with a slight smile, before it disappeared. "I am the only one capable of completing pulling your rights as Princesses and powers as Senshi away."
The Senshi winced, knowing that what Serena has stated was indeed true. They had been present in the past, in front of the Silver Alliance, when Serena as a Soldier had made someone suffer a painful punishment. It was the orders of the Alliance she served, which gave her the capabilities and permissions to do so.
"Before I forget, we will be out on patrol tonight." Serena was blunt as she rested her head on Darien's shoulder. "My sister and Drake shall be meeting us there."
"Serena-chan, it's only been a day!" Minako whined as she leaned back.
"VENUS!" Artemis growled in warning as he looked up from his resting position. "You are a Senshi, a guardian to Earth, it is your duty to go out and check how this planet fares after its latest attack."
"Juuban and Azabu are the most devastated by the attacks." Serena informed the group, ignoring the complaints about the rest. "It is just to check that everything is in order."
"There's another reason." Makoto stated, as she looked at Serena. "Beyond their highnesses being present?"
"Drake has something I need." Serena frowned as she crossed her arms over her chest. "I will not tell you, for you ladies will only see it for yourself, when I get it back."
The Senshi looked between each other before turning to look back at Serena. They had been informed already that Suzanne and Drake were in Tokyo, but to meet them this early, was another worry and a reason that would need to be explained. Rei caught the black bags appearing under Serena's eyes and frowned as she turned to look at the clock. It was only about 10:15 in the early morning. Yet what she felt earlier had worried her, and as she caught Darien shift, she knew he felt the same.
"How are you still awake?" Rei asked the dreaded question.
"I'm trained as a Soldier." That was Serena's only reply as she weakly smiled. "We could always handle the lack of sleep, especially in between training and the constant attacks that hit the stronghold of the Soldiers."
Serena smiled at the others as a yawn escaped her lips and her head began to drop as she struggled to remain awake. The Senshi were not convinced with her words, and for another matter, neither was Darien. The group had finally caught the green glow that hovered over Serena, sharper than it had been, and it flickered to light silver before disappearing.
"I had nightmares occasionally, and I still do." Serena continued with a small frown. "I couldn't handle being asleep for more than four hours in a day, sometimes it was far less."
"The only thing that allowed me that much needed sleep was either a sedative or the only person who could knock me out and ensure I slept longer." Serena turned to look at Darien at this point.
**You must know this Dimi. ** Serena thought, as her eyes darkened.
"Drake helped." Darien stuttered as his eyes widened. **I should have known it since Drake is the Prince of Dreams and Nightmares. **
Darien glanced down at the woman in his arms, and his eyes widened as he watched when Serena nodded at him, when she caught the reason why. The Senshi had all the pieces of the puzzle in place, it was one of the reasons Drake had left her room on so many occasions, even when Serena had a separate room after marriage, especially in the dead of night. It was one of the best kept secrets of the Silver Millennium, and only a select few knew the true relation between Drake and Serena. At the point that recognition clicked, Serena turned away as the bond with her sister became alive.
:: Are you ready to play the game again, dear sister? :: Serena asked, as her link with her sister re-opened.
:: I'm ready when you are. :: Suzanne's voice laughed through her mind.
:: Is everything set, little sister? :: Serena asked as her eyes sparkled.
:: It is. :: Suzanne's voice softened. :: Do not worry too much, Serena, worrying does not become you. ::
:: I cannot help it. :: Serena scowled through the link. :: I do not wish to put you in danger's path. ::
:: You must allow it. :: Suzanne was strict. :: It is our duty as leaders and as Soldiers. ::
:: We'll be out for patrols, tonight. :: Serena gave a defeated sigh.
:: I'll be ready. :: Suzanne's voice softened once more. :: I look forward to meeting you once again, sister. ::
The bond fluttered between the siblings before it toned down to the fact that it was rarely active, and Serena turned to face the Senshi and her other half with a small smile. The time for the secrets of the Silver Millennium to be revealed had come to an end and it was time for two families to be reunited in the long run. Serena rolled her eyes once more, and curled into the warmth that Darien had provided her as she looked at the Senshi with clouded eyes.
"Just to make you aware, the Starlights will need to join in the patrol tonight." Serena scowled as she looked up.
"Yes, Lady Serenity." Haruka whispered with a bow of her head.
"They cannot be aware of the events that transpired here tonight, Senshi." Serena demanded.
"It'll be as you wish, Lady Serenity." Mina whispered.
"Angel?" Darien asked with a raised eyebrow. "What about that issue?"
"I know." Serena scowled, as she pulled away from him. "Drake has a plan in place for that."
The time for the Universal Soldiers to appear was fast approaching. Sisters would be reunited after their separation over the last couple of years.
As Serena turned to look out of the window from her place on the sofa, her eyes narrowed.
The winds were changing and with it, the destiny of the Universe.
