Epilogue

Stiles stood at the edge of the football field and watched as police cruises, fire trucks and ambulances swarmed the school in the distance. She fought the urge to run down and find her father, who would be undoubtedly flabbergasted by the scene he would take in. She thought about him reviewing the scene photos over and over again, and coming up empty. She thought about the frustration he would feel and how badly she would want to explain everything. Someday I will, she thought to herself.

"Stiles," Scott was running up from the back of the school. "What are you doing we need to get out of here," he said, motioning to here he came from.

"Scott," Stiles breathed. What she was about to say was going to make her cry or vomit or both. "Scott take care of my dad, and tell him and Melissa I love them."

"Stiles what the hell are you talking about!" Scott was in shock he walked over to Stiles, but she stepped back.

"Tell Lydia I'll miss her and tell, tell," Stiles was cracking. Scott's eyes filled up with tears he grabbed Stiles by the shoulders.

"Stiles what are you doing," he cried. "We have to go, we have to go home."

"I can't stand here Scott," Stiles yelled trying to overcome her tears. "It's too dangerous for you , our parents, everyone."

"No, no we killed Xavier and Alec," he protested. "We'll be fine." He hugged her, tightly.

"No, not if we stay," She exclaimed. "They'll be more like them, coming for us." In that moment Scott understood that it wasn't just Stiles leaving, but Derek too.

"You can't abandon us," he screamed, hoping Derek could hear him. "You can't abandon me." He buried his head in Stiles shoulder sobbing. Stiles rubbed his back calmly.

"Hey I'm not abandoning you," she whispered. She pulled back and lifted Scott's head. Softly she wiped his tears. "Remember what I said to you in third grade, the first day we met?" Reflecting on when they were kids Scott chuckled.

"You told me I was going to be your best friend for the rest of our lives and if I didn't want to you'd kick me in the balls," he replied, with a fresh set of tears.

"And I meant that Scott, for the rest of our lives, no matter what," Stiles cried. She hugged him tightly. "No matter where I am, nothing will change that." After what seemed like only a second, Scott pulled away. His face was distraught yet stoic. He moved back.

"Go," he said, as he half-heartedly pushed Stiles away. "Be safe. I'll see you soon."

"I'll see you soon," Stiles promised as she slipped from Scott's grasp, and ran into the trees. Scott stood there a long time, listening to Stiles as she moved further away. He focused his hearing as best as he could until he heard the sound of a mustang engine roar and drive away.

Scott confessed about Derek being the father of the baby. However, the story of Derek being involved with some dangerous guys from out of town was tweaked and modified according to the original plan that was made. That plan included Stiles being there. He told the Sheriff that Stiles couldn't bare never seeing Derek again and ran off with him. He assured the Sheriff and his mother that he didn't know where they went, which was very true.

Stile's father put out calls all over California and neighboring states. He tore apart Stiles' room looking for clues of where they might be. He went to the Hale house and came up as empty as ever. Scott and Melissa did their best to keep the Sheriff from going off the deep-end.

The pack was equally distraught, but understood why Derek and Stiles left. The baby would never be safe. Any member of the Hale family had a target on their back, from hunters and werewolves alike.

It had been four months since Xavier and Alec. Life was getting back to normal, though there was no one to awkwardly reassure Scott that things would. Scott had feared that everyone would wander off their separate ways, but it seemed the baby brought every one closer more than before.

Isaac moved in with Scott and Melissa and Erica moved in with Argent and Allison. She was a big help in getting Allison back on her feet. The school buzzed with rumors about Stiles, but that died down once the sheriff finally called off the search. She was considered a runaway, and when her 18th birthday past, he figured there was no point in continuing to look for her. He only hoped she'd come back one day.

There had been zero supernatural activity since Derek and Stiles left. However it wasn't certain if Derek brought the crazy with him when he first came back or if the crazy followed him out. Argent's hunter connections turned up nothing, which was bittersweet relief for everyone.

But then only an ordinary day, Scott received a letter in a brown envelope. There was no return address, but Scott could smell Stiles all over it. He ripped it open outside his house. It was a folded piece of notebook paper. A photo was tucked inside. Scott looked at the photo, tears forming in his eyes. Stiles was smiling back at him. Her hair was cut short, just below her chin, and it was red. Next to her was a little baby boy, no more than 4 months old. He had dark brown hair that went wild about his head, bright red cheeks and hazel eyes. Scott chuckled to himself, if he didn't know any better he could have sworn the baby was brooding. Derek wasn't in the photo completely. The baby was holding on to the fingers of Derek's hand, who was taking the picture. They were in the mustang, and seemed happy. Scott looked at the letter.

Scott,

I don't know how to say this, but I'm pretty much killing this whole mom thing. He sleeps 12 hours a night, eats like a machine and basically is the most perfect baby ever in the history of babies. I miss you. I miss everyone. Derek does too but of course would never attempt it. We're okay. We've found a great place and Derek has a great job as a fry cook at a diner. I go to Mommy and Me classes, which is crazy. Everyone we've met is awesome and so far perfectly normal, thank God! I miss you.

By the way his name is John Scott Hale.

I love you.

Stiles.

This is it folks! Two years and finally the story is finished. Thank you for reading. It was suggested that I do a prequel of how Stiles and Derek got together. Maybe soon. In the meantime I would love for anyone who's a great artist to work up some art for my story. I'd love to post it to Deviant Art. PM me a link if you do!
