"You're lying."
Beastboy's mind was reeling. His heart felt like it had stopped and showed no signs of restarting again.
"I wish I was." Kid Flash's face was etched with sorrow, pity, and guilt.
"No! There has to be something, some way we can reverse it. There must be spells, anything."
"We're still looking, Beastboy."
"WELL LOOK HARDER!"
It was at that moment Robin walked through the doors. He looked from Kid Flash to Beastboy. "You told him."
"I had too."
Robin nodded curtly. He walked over to stand next to the white hospital bed. He stood there awkwardly for a few seconds before gruffly managing a "How are you feeling?"
Beastboy was fuming. "What are you doing with her?"
The boy wonder sighed deeply "Beastboy, listen to me, she's fine. We have her locked in the failsafe room we build for when Trigon came to claim her. She's still asleep, Jinx knocked her out pretty well, but it won't last forever. When she wakes up, she's not going to be herself."
Beastboy lay very still for a few moments, staring at that ugly celling. "You don't know what Larissa did to her?"
Robin shook his head "No, and since she's dead we can't get any information from her."
Beastboy closed his eyes. He felt like screaming till his voice gave out, he felt like crying till his eyes went numb, he wanted to lash out, hit something, blow something to pieces, rip something apart with his teeth, anything, anything. But instead, he just lay there. Broken.
"I want to see her." The changeling whispered. He turned his head to look at the stern face of his leader. "Let me see her."
Robin watched him. He lifted a hand to scratch his neck absentmindedly. "Okay."
He pointed toward Beastboy "But not right now. When you're feeling better."
Beastboy nodded his agreement.
The door behind them opened and Jinx filled its place. She looked at Robin, then spoke. "She's awake."
Robin's body straightened and with a final nod to Beastboy, he followed her out the door. Wally stood up to trail them, but a hand on his wrist stopped him. He looked down into the face of his friend. Beastboy's eyes bore into him.
"Wally, please, make sure they don't hurt her."
The hero hesitated, unsure.
"Promise me."
Wally cracked a smile "C'mon Beastboy, they'd never hurt her!"
The grip on his wrist tightened.
"Promise me."
Wally looked again at his friend's face, only to find sadness, and worst of all, indescribable fear. He bit his lip. Then he bowed his head once. "Okay, BB, I promise."
Kid Flash watched as Beastboy's hand fell back to his side, his eyes closing. Before he left, he adjusted the IV drip on Beastboy's arm. The changeling would be asleep in minutes.

The first thing that registered was the cold. It's what jolted her awake, actually, the cold. It wasn't cold enough for her teeth to chatter, but every time a breeze kicked up, a shiver went down her spine.
She pulled her face up from where it lie flush on the cool stone. She was sure some part of her must be wounded. She didn't know what had happened, but something told her she should be covered in blood. Surprisingly, as she checked herself over, nothing was cut, bruised, or broken.
Then she looked up, and her jaw dropped.
Purple. A purple mist that seemed to go on forever settled over an orange and purple gradient of a sky. She looked around. Nothing. Nothing but more orange tinged stones just like the one she was lying on. And if she dared to peek over the side of said stone, she found darkness. Purply black uninviting darkness.
She had no idea where she was. She'd never seen a place like this before. She stood up, looking around, but then something caught her eye. She began to stare at her hands. And then the true fear set in.
She had no idea who she was.
She tired to steady her breath, breathing in through her nose and out through her mouth; for some reason this exercise felt like second nature to her. She tried to stay calm. She assessed her surroundings. In front of her was a long stretch of stones, she could see some trees in the distance, dark and looming. She turned around and felt a lurch of hope in her heart. Some distance away sat a tall, heavy, forgotten stone castle. From this distance it appeared abandoned, but she was willing to take the risk. And anyway, she couldn't sit on this rock forever.
She took one deep breath then started her path toward the giant building.

"You don't have to do this if you don't want to." Cyborg reminded him again.
Beastboy gave him a tired look.
Cyborg bit his lip "Right. Stupid question." He watched as the green man faced the glass once again. Beastboy had been staring for a few minutes now. Watching what remained of his girlfriend claw and abuse the walls of her current prison.
When he had first lay eyes on her, it took a few seconds for it to click that the depraved creature in front of him was Raven. Her hair, which had grown out to about shoulder length, lied matted and spiderwebbed over her face. Her clothes were torn, from her own doing, he was told. He believed them too; if the long scratch marks that matched her grown-out fingernails was any indication. Her skin, somewhere between the color of ash and dirty snow, was covered in these little cuts.
And her eyes. Lord, her eyes. Black abysses that led to more darkness. Her pupils seemed to have over taken both her irises and the whites of her eyes.
That was probably the most heartbreaking part, looking into those eyes.
Well, that, and watching her try and tear her way through the impenetrable walls and floors, flinging herself against them while she screamed.
Beastboy took a deep breath. "I can do this" he assured himself.
But he wasn't so sure. Because now, looking at her, he wasn't so sure she was going to recognize him at all. He barley recognized her.
And even if she did, who said she would even listen to him? Raven barley listened to him when she was her normal self, never mind now.
He sighed. "Okay, let her see me."
Cyborg nodded and flipped a switch, which turned the two-way mirror into a window. So instead of seeing her reflection, Raven could see just who was watching her. It took her approximately two seconds until she noticed. A cruel smile twisted on her lips and she was pressed against the glass in front of him in half that. Those black eyes seemed to focus on his soul.
"Beastboy" she hissed.
He swallowed hard. "Raven. How- how are you?"
Her smiled widened, showing off a set of pointed teeth. "Better now that you're here." Her tongue flicked out to lick her lips. "I'd be even better if you came in here to keep me company."
To rip him to shreds no doubt. Or use him as a hostage in her escape plan. "Sorry Rae, not today."
She frowned. "You're no fun anymore, Beastie." Her hands fell away from the glass. "So you've just come to watch me rot in this prison?" Her face turned to a snarl.
"I want to help you, Rae."
"How?" she questioned suspiciously.
He licked his lips. "What did Larissa do to you, Rae? What happened?"
He could have sworn, somewhere in those black pools, he saw emotion flicker through.
She was pressed up against the glass again, teeth bared, eyes narrowed and one long pointed fingernail directed toward him. "You can't reverse this Beastboy."
He opened his mouth to retort, but he was cut off by her hideous screams. "GET OUT!" She began attacking the glass once again, a savage look on her face. "LEAVE!"
Beastboy glanced toward Cyborg, who immediately flipped the switch so Raven could see no one but herself. She hollered again, a blood curdling scream that made the hair on the back of Beastboy's neck stand up.
Cyborg looked at him, human eye open wide, and incredulous look spread across his face. "Well, that went well."
