Randy kept looking over at the table during dinner watching Lindsay and Mike laugh and talk. The more he watched them interact, the more he hated it. But he still couldn't figure out why he cared so much. Why seeing her with someone else made him want to break something. His date had long ago left him at the table by himself. He downed the rest of his drink and threw some money down on the table when he saw Mike call for the check.
He watched them leave and quickly left himself. He would see if she went home alone and then he would talk to her. He had too. He followed behind the car and watched as it stopped in front of Lindsay's condo. He watched Mike walked her to the door and then come back down. Once he was sure Mike was gone, he headed up to the condo. He had to talk to Lindsay.
Lindsay had just come out of her room from changing clothes when there was a knock on the door. She wondered who it could be. She walked over to the door and opened it. She sighed when she did. "Randy, what can I help you with? You know Natalie doesn't live here anymore. She lives with John."
"I was actually hoping we could talk."
"I didn't think we had anything more to say but come in." She said stepping aside to let him in. He walked in and she closed the door and headed over to the kitchen to get herself something to drink. She walked back into the living room with the glass of juice. "So, what do you want Randy?"
"I uh..." He suddenly couldn't formulate what he was going to say.
"Well?" She asked him. "You come in here and said you wanted to talk. So, let's talk."
"I just wanted to see how you were doing. Make sure the Italian food didn't disagree with you." He said.
"You wanted to make sure Italian food didn't disagree with me?" She asked him. "Why are you really here?"
"Did you have fun on your date?"
"I did." She replied. "Mike is very nice and I like him. Why do you care how my date was?"
"Because he's not right for you."
"Why would you say that?" She asked him. "He's a nice guy and I like him. So why wouldn't he be right for me?"
"You gotta wonder about a guy who would attach himself to a pregnant girl."
"Just like you'd have to wonder about a guy who would run out on his kid. Now get the hell out of my house."
"Lindsay, I'm just looking out for you." He said to her. He walked over to her. "I do care about you."
"You should go."
He looked at her. "I do care about you Lindsay." He said as he leaned in and kissed her. He pulled away and walked out the front door.
She stood there shocked that he kissed her. He had made his feelings about everything clear and then he kisses her. It just didn't make sense. She shook it off and went to bed.
Randy got into his car and drove away. He didn't know why he kissed her. But he hated her and Mike together. What was it about her? He drove off toward his place trying to make sense of it.
The next morning, Lindsay headed to work. She still didn't know what Randy was trying to do. She arrived at the office and smiled when she saw the flowers sitting on her desk. They were beautiful.
"Those are beautiful." She heard behind her and saw Natalie there. "Who are they from?"
"I don't know. I haven't read the card yet."
"Well, read it." Natalie said impatiently. Lindsay opened the card and read the note. She couldn't believe it. "Well, who are they from?"
She sighed. "They're from Randy."
"Randy? Really?" Natalie asked. She walked over to her. "Why would he be sending you flowers? Are you and he thinking about having something now that you're expecting?"
Lindsay sighed and closed the door to the office. "I don't know what is going on with him. I got assigned to work with him and he showed up at the restaurant last night while I was there with Mike. Then he came to the house after I had gotten home and he told me Mike wasn't right for me and he kissed me."
Natalie looked at her. "Do you think Randy is changing his mind about things? About you and the baby?"
"I honestly don't know."
"You should talk to him. See what's going on. See why he would send you flowers and see what his intentions are."
"I don't know if I can."
"Why not?" Natalie asked. "Do you still feel something for Randy?"
"No. Why would I have feelings for him?"
"Because you're expecting his baby? That's a bond whether he wants to be involved or not. And from the flowers, maybe he does. You should really talk to him and get this all out."
"I have a meeting with him later. We will talk about it then."
"Good. You should definitely get this straightened out." Natalie said. "Well, since I intruded enough, I'm going back to my office. If you need anything, call me."
Lindsay nodded. She looked at the flowers again and sighed. What did it mean? She decided Natalie was right. She had to talk to Randy and get this straightened out.
Randy sat in the club restaurant waiting for Lindsay. He knew she had gotten the flowers. He didn't know what had made him send them. He just felt he needed to. He looked up as she walked in. He stood up as she walked to the table and he pulled out her chair. "I'm glad you came."
"Well, I think we need to talk."
"Alright." He said to her. "Let's talk."
"I got the flowers."
"I'm glad." He replied. "I hope you liked them."
"They were beautiful. Why'd you send them?"
He sighed. "I don't really know." He said honestly. "I just felt the need to send you flowers."
"You felt the need to send me flowers?"
"To say I'm sorry I guess. For the way I acted the other night."
She looked at him. "Well thank you." She replied. "So we have some ideas for the charity events. One being a bachelor auction for some of the single players."
"That sounds like a great idea. Count me in" He replied.
She nodded. "Alright and you have a request from the Make A Wish foundation."
"Great." He replied. He looked at her. "Can I ask how you've been feeling? I mean with the pregnancy and all."
"Doing alright so far. I have an appointment later today to hear the heartbeat."
"Oh." He replied. "Well, I'm glad you're okay." He honestly wasn't sure why he wanted to know about the baby and the pregnancy. But he did. He had been thinking about Lindsay so much lately. Especially since he saw her on the date with Mike. "Can...can you keep me updated on how it's going? And let me know when the baby gets here?"
She looked at him. "I thought you wanted no part in this." She sighed. "Randy, what's going on? You didn't want to be apart of this. You made that clear. You're being very confusing."
"You're right. I'm sorry."
She sighed. "I just don't understand Randy. You said you wanted nothing to do with this but that doesn't seem to be the case. So, what's going on? Just explain it to me."
"I honestly can't explain it. We were friends before we slept together and...look. I'm sorry. You don't have to tell me anything. I'm sorry."
She sighed. "Of course I will tell you. I will keep you updated on things."
"Thank you." He said to her. "Now I guess we need to wrap up this meeting so you can get to your appointment."
"Alright. If you wanna call me tonight, I'll let you know what they said."
"Okay. I'll call you." He smiled. She nodded and they finished up the meeting. She wondered about the change in him and what exactly it meant.
