Welcome to chapter 20

First of all, I'd like to thank everybody who read and stuck with this story this far.

So now, we're going to continue from where I left off last chapter. I don't want to spoil any of it anymore

Let the games begin

(Corona, two days after Elsa left, 9:15 PM)

Azin felt new to say the least. His body was coursing with power. The sensation reminded him off the rush of adrenaline through his system when he engages in battle, but instead of adrenaline sheer power radiated from him. The power was so intense that it gave him a warm feeling inside his body he looked back at what he did to Jayce Crow and Rex and back to his hands.

His whole body was steaming and had a faint glow of emerald green. This sensation made him temporarily forget his current misery, as he deciphered with his inner self as to what this could possibly be.

What is this strange new power? Azin thought bewilderedly.

You mean to tell that you don't even know what this is? His voice said amusedly.

Would I be asking you if I knew what this was? Azin thought sarcastically.

I supposed not, but at any rate this is a new aspect of your power Azin this is what I'm supposed to be helping you figure out, which is fancy way of saying: Azin you have just unlocked a whole new world of possibilities in your power. His voice explained.

I understand, but why do I feel like a bright light has been turned on inside me. Azin asked.

Well obviously you have been holding back this power for a very long time. I'd say that you just used too much of it in one burst that this is an after effect. His voice explained.

He looked back and forth from his hands and the statues. He was trying to figure out what this untapped magic was. He was trying to phrase in a word.

"Petrification" Azin whispered as he finally found the word he was looking for.

That's right, but like I've said before you're just beginning to access this untapped potential you need to learn more about this. His voice was right and Azin knew this as well. He had to learn about this new power if he wasn't going to accidentally petrify his friends.

He knew that he had to do this no matter how hard it was, despite the fact that he was just recovering from a recent turn of events.

"Azin" Maria's tone was filled with concern and sympathy "Are you alright?" Azin saw Maria and she was obviously in pain from Rex's crushing grip. He turned to her with the same blazing green eyes and radiating aura.

"I'm fine" Azin said and reassured her with a sad smile "just a little confused, but I'm fine" Azin walked over to them with obvious concern. He was careful to keep his new power in check to make sure that he didn't accidentally petrify them. "You two on the other hand are a different story." Maria was obviously limp and sore from Rex's grip, while Austeen lied on the floor with obvious pain from his gunshot wounds.

Azin bent down so that he was closer to Maria. He was wrapping his upper body with both her hands and panting heavily. Her expression was pained, like someone tried to squeeze the life out of her. Her outfit was ripped in a few places and her lower body was bruised.

"I need to get you two to an infirmary"

(Arendelle castle, the day of the ball, 7:00 PM)

"I'm afraid that queen Elsa won't be able to make it to the ball, councilmen" Gerda explained to the councilmen when they asked where Elsa was.

"This is an outrage, we have invited numerous allied princes for them to meet the queen and now" Councilman Lawrence protested loudly.

"What possible reason could the queen have for postponing this ball?" Councilman Wallis demanded.

I don't expect you to understand because you aimed all your concern towards this ball Gerda thought angrily. "Well, it's like you said, this ball is for the purpose of finding queen Elsa a suitor, but I can assure you, councilmen, that no prince would show interest in her current condition" Gerda said as calmly as she could manage.

"And what, pray tell, is her current condition, which is so drastic that it is worth insulting the allied nations that we have invited. Councilman Lawrence said with a roll of his eyes and cross his arms. Gerda felt like she wanted to drop him into the fjord right then and there.

"She's as lifeless as she was thirteen years ago, she's locked herself in her room and she has frozen the door shut. I assume that only princess Anna can talk to her." Gerda said through gritted teeth "I suggest that we postpone this ball to a later date, until Queen Elsa has regained some of her former joy"

The councilmen huffed with frustration "Very well then, but 3 days is all that we can give you. After three days, no matter what condition she is in, she will host this ball and find a suitor." The councilmen added sternly. At that note the councilmen left, to announce to the attending princes.

Gerda let out a sigh of relief because she managed to buy Elsa a little time to get ahold of her sanity. Gerda almost felt the same agony that Elsa was feeling every time she saw her like that she was reminded of the pain that the young queen experienced when her parents died and when Anna turned into an ice statue.

Gerda went out of the council chamber and to Elsa's room. Her room already stood out with the blue flowers printed on her door, but now it was frozen solid and the walls that surrounded her room had a thick layer of frost growing steadily. Gerda paid no attention to the subzero temperatures that was emanating from her room. She didn't knock because she was sure that Queen Elsa would hear and also because the door was too cold to touch.

"You're Majesty?" Gerda said in the most enthusiastic voice that she could manage "the council has decided to postpone tonight's ball" After being heavily persuaded that their desires for you to have a king will not be effective. Gerda mentally added. "But they insist that you hold another ball in three days" Gerda said sadly. "My Queen, everybody in the castle is worried about you, I hope that you can recover from your broken heart soon, not for ours or the kingdom's sake, but for your sake the people can't stand seeing you like this" Gerda's tone was dipping with nothing, concern and worry.

"Thank You, Gerda" Elsa's lifeless whisper that was no louder than a breath, but it was loud enough for Gerda to hear. Gerda left the door.

Inside Elsa was plainly the same, if not worse than when she came back to Arendelle. The whole room was frozen solid. It felt like she was in her ice castle again, cold, frigid, and alone; painfully alone. The feeling was similar to thirteen years ago when she had to lock herself inside her room, but this time it felt different.

She wasn't doing this to protect Anna or the rest of the castle she was doing this to find herself again, to get her happiness back. She felt like a whole was punched through her chest and that she was bleeding to death; getting weaker by the second.

This wasn't a pain that she was familiar with because the only situations that had caused her this pain was because of family, but this time it was for a different reason. How can she deal with a similar pain that is caused by a different reason? Is there a point in trying to fight back?

She can try and she will try for her kingdom, for her family, and for Azin who would be breaking down in tears if he found her like this.

(Corona, two days before the new ball, 7:00 am)

When I said, you should learn more about your power. Sitting on a desk and lying face down on a table with a book and a parchment open is not what I meant. His voice said angrily.

It's true that Azin managed to find his master's former lair in Corona and decided to research about his new found ability. The lair itself was filled with bookshelves and numerous parchments that were hundreds of years old, but they looked well-preserved and almost brand new. The lair was circular and the walls were surrounded by the bookshelves there were a few desks, a huge space in the center of the room and a crystal orb that was perched on a golden stand. The lair gave the ambient aura of a mage's study room.

All of the books and parchments were in a strange language that he didn't understand, though he knew what they meant or what they signified. The written symbols were spells that only mages could use. He had a tome in front of him, but he wasn't at all paying attention to the information that it held, partly, because he had no idea how to use it and mainly, because he was too lost in the returning misery that was overwhelming him.

"Sorry, but I guess the adrenaline rush before is starting to wear off" Azin grumbled glumly.

Well get over it will you because you can't spend the rest of your existence moping around. His voice said.

"Do you want a bet?" Azin asked glumly.

Will you at least try to pull yourself together? His voice asked seriously.

"I'm already trying" Azin grumbled almost incoherently.

If this is you trying what more would I see if you actually gave up. His voice said.

"Do you even have the faintest idea of how hard this is" Azin snapped slamming the shut with now glowing green hand and laying it on top of the cover "a scintilla of concern at all?" Azin felt the sensation return; the glowing bright and intense feeling that he felt inside him, but this time he could feel the tome glowing with him as well.

Azin look at your hand? His voice said urgently.

Azin stubbornly looked at the tome and was shocked to see that it was radiating as well. Curiously, he lifted his hand up and was surprised to feel that it was heavier than usual, like the tome's glow was pulling it down. He lifted it with more force and as his hand got higher two things happened: a green sphere began to grow bigger in the space between his hand and the tome and the tome opened and flipped through pages with the symbols glowing green. The feeling was a strange tingling sensation, like experiencing a mild shock and the longer he held the sphere the stronger the shock became.

The sphere was getting bigger and the tingling sensation became more fervent. Azin panicked because it was still growing.

"Whoa, okay what I do now? What do I do now?" Azin panicked as he turned his hand palm up and the orb was in his hands. The orb was warm and bright like holding bright lamp that's shaped like a sphere. The orb seized growing, when he closed the tome. The orb itself was a very bright emerald green color, like green tinted light bulb.

Throw it throw it. His voice shouted in a panic

Without another thought, Azin threw the orb in the areain front of him; hitting the glass orb in the center of the circle. The stand petrified, but the orb glow a bright emerald green that lit up the entire room with its color.

Curiously, Azin approached the glowing orb and looked intently into the light. He remembered his master using this orb. His master would simply touch a glowing finger to the orb and images would appear though he never worked out the mechanic of how the crystal orb works.

This orb, when used, lays out what you're thinking. In other words, it'll show you what happened to Elsa because she's been in your mind for I don't know how long. His voice said as if answering his thoughts.

Eagerly, Azin looked to the orb intently; willing to get even an image of the love that he lost. Then he was afraid that he might not like what he will see. What if what he saw was Elsa in the arm of her future king happy and satisfied, what if Elsa was already arranging a wedding.

Do you really think that that's what's happening now, Azin? Do you really think Elsa could get over you that quickly? His voice said rhetorically.

Azin was about to answer, but the mist inside the orb began to clear and an image of a castle with snow and ice on the rooftops was all that he could see. He realized at once that this was Elsa's home.

"Arendelle" Azin breathed in an awed whisper. He saw that the castle courtyard was frozen and it was snowing lightly.

Before he could say anything else the orb clouded again and cleared in a few seconds. The scene was not much changed there was ice there was snow, until he realized that it wasn't the outside of the castle it was inside a bedroom. He took in the scene, but his eyes zeroed in on a figure that was curled up on the bed. He could hear quiet sobs and whimpers. There he saw Elsa curled up into a ball, grasping her chest and crying to herself. The sight of literally caused his knees to buckle underneath him and he kneeled down on the floor. His face was directly in front of the orb now and he could feel the tears flowing down his eyes.

Before the orb clouded and the light faded, Azin heard Elsa whisper something lifelessly, it was so low that he couldn't be sure if he heard it right "Azin" Elsa said in a whisper and the orb grew lifeless.

"I need to get to Arendelle"

.

(Arendelle, two days before the new ball, 9:00 am)

It was already dawn and yet no one had seen Kristoff or the princess return from their trip to the forest. Everybody was worried sick about what might have happened to them the weather was fairly fine the sun was shining up above Arendelle, despite the queen's condition.

"Send a search party for the princess and her associates but make sure that the queen is unaware of this" councilmen Wallis said to captain Reynard who was the captain of Arendelle's defenses.

"Why should the queen be unaware that her sister is missing?" the captain asked in a confused and outraged tone.

"Because her majesty is having a hard time as it is. We don't need to add another worry for her. Besides, the ball is in less than two days away. She must recover" Councilman Wallis said in a stern tone.

Captain Reynard bit his tongue to hold back the flurry that was threatening to leave his mouth. He was beginning to question the council's concern for the royal family of Arendelle. He's starting to wonder if they were really concerned about Queen Elsa or worried that the queen might freeze an allied prince if her condition gets worse.

Captain Reynard walked off without another word; gathering a search party for the princess.

.

(The Southern Isles, two days before the ball, 1:30 pm)

Azin heard a lot of rumors going about saying that the thirteenth prince of the southern isles was required to give an official apology in person to Queen Elsa of Arendelle. Despite the fact that he would gladly petrify the said-prince on sight and toss him overboard, he saw an opportunity to get to Arendelle, while keeping Elsa safe from this Prince's clutches at the same time, but it wasn't something that he was relatively excited about.

"Let's get this over with so, that I can go back to my jail cell" a red-haired prince with sideburns walked aboard into the ship with a grudging expression.

"Speak of the devil, and the devil shall appear" Azin whispered to himself. Hans caught his eye and walked towards him. Hans examined him intently with appraising eyes.

"So you're the captain of this ship?" Hans asked disgustingly. He was wearing a normal captain's outfit. Black boots, a green captain robe, a green hat and he even threw in a fake beard to completely disguise his appearance. He was also wearing a roll of parchment on his back that was secured diagonally with a metal clamp and a tome in his other hand.

I am Now. He thought slyly. As far as you know.

Azin had a little too much fun hog-tying the real captain of the ship since he wouldn't allow him to hitch a ride on the ship. Thankfully the captain was a mute because controlling his temper would be a lot harder to do with this Joker around.

He just nodded. He was completely sure that if he opened his mouth a frenzy of insults and outbursts would come out.

"Well, let's set a course for Arendelle, then because I'm just dying to see that ice witch again" Hans said carelessly and turned to go inside the cabin.

Do not lose your temper. Azin chanted to himself repeatedly as he felt the radiant sensation in his hands again. Petrifying the ship won't help him get to Arendelle. As soon as he was sure that he wasn't going to petrify the whole ship. He set a course for Arendelle.

No Frozen fanfic would be complete without the red-haired prince that everybody hates.

Short chapter I know and I'm really sorry about it.
