Chapter 21 - Clara

"What do you think you're doing?" Clara said, trying not to shout, but finding it hard not to keep her voice down. She was so furious and she couldn't stop trembling because of it.

"He provoked me, Clara! He was talking all this crap about how he'll always be closer to you than me, and that he knows you better and that in the long run, I don't stand a chance with you," Danny said.

Clara sighed and placed her hand on her forehead. "For Merlin's sake, I thought you two were over this. I thought you guys were actually getting along, but I was stupid to think that," she said.

"I'm so sorry, Clara. It won't happen again. I swear," Danny said.

She could see a look in his eyes that made her want to just hold him, but she knew that she couldn't give in that easily. "And how do I know that? You two will provoking each other forever behind my back. I know John so well, I know he won't let this go," she said.

Immediately, his face dropped a little. "Of course you do. You know him a million times better than me."

"Yeah, I obviously do! How can you complain? I've only just met you. I've known him as my best friend for the past five years!" Clara said, disbelieving how childish Danny was being.

"Oh, this is just getting ridiculous. Do you want to be with me or not, Clara?" he exclaimed.

"What? Really, is this all because I've known a different boy longer than you? You do realise it happens? But now that you ask, I don't know. This stupid fight has made me realise how much you need to grow up. So it's for you to decide whether this relationship will go on; either grow up, or sod off," Clara said, before turning her back on him and returning to the pub.

Thankfully, she didn't hear any running footsteps behind her, so she knew he wasn't going to follow. Once the door was closed, she pushed Danny out of her mind and made her way over to John who was sitting at the bar. His nose had stopped bleeding, but it looked a little funny. It looked like the meeting had been delayed, as Harry, Ron and Hermione were still busy arguing at the front.

As she approached John, he gave her a smile that she didn't return. Instead, she raised her arm and gave him a slap. " Right, now I feel better," she said.

John had bent over clutching his face, but before long he was sitting upright again, a look of pure shock plastered on his face. "Did you just slap me because you were angry at Danny?"

"Partly. But I'm also not too happy with you contribution to today's events," Clara said, with a bit of a glare.

"What did he tell you, because he was probably lying," John said defensively.

"He didn't tell me an awful lot, but I got the idea of the situation. You need to stop provoking him, John."

"I was just messing. He should sort his temper," John said with a shrug.

"Yeah, whatever. Just please, it's not his fault we were together," Clara said.

"Were?"

"No, I didn't mean it like that. Well, actually, I don't know at the moment. I've just given him time to think for now."

"I don't understand. So are you still together taking a break, or are you officially over?"

"I've just told you that I don't know, John. You need to realise that it might not be as simple as that," Clara said with a sigh.

"Why are relationships so frickin' complicated? Maybe, I should give up," John said. He sighed too.

"On what?"

"Nevermind. I'm starting to feel a little dizzy, and I think I might have broken my nose, so I think I'm going to call it a day and head back up to the castle. Can you tell me about what happens here?" John asked, as he stood up slowly.

"Sure," was all she said. "I'll see you later. Hope you're nose get's better."

"Cheers," he said before hastily leaving the pub.

Clara decided to order herself a Butterbeer, as she misplaced her other one and didn't know where it was.

John was right. It was all getting very confusing, and she was beginning to wonder why she got into this mess. She could see why he was so frustrated.

Clara placed her Butterbeer down in front of her and stared at it for a moment.

"Weird day, huh?" a voice said from beside her. Neville gave her a friendly smile as she looked up at him.

"Yeah, you could say that," she replied looking back down.

"Don't worry, Clara. It'll work out. I'm here as a friend if you need me," Neville said, putting his hand on hers.

She smiled. "Thanks, Nev. You're really great, do you know that?" Clara said to him.

"Aha, I try my best," he said.

There was a small silence between them, until they heard Hermione's voice calling them for attention. It looked like the meeting was finally about to begin.
