to live Again: First Day

Violet's POV:

I am sitting in front of the mirror of my vanity getting buffed and polished by my insane sister. Alexandra is bouncing on my bed and I just want to puke! I think Alexandra is more excited about me going to school than anyone else in the house. It does not help that my mom said that if she is a good girl she will get to go to the Pizza Machine for lunch. Alexandra loves Pizza but she has no idea what a treat that will really be! At this point I am really wishing I was going with her instead of into the land of the unknown.

"Don't you dare puke on me! You better head into the bathroom now," Alice suddenly screamed.

She practically carried me to the bathroom and as soon as I looked at the toilet I lost what little I had eaten for breakfast.

"Mommy, why you sick?" Alexandra was worried and I felt bad being stupid.

I grabbed the mouthwash and rinsed my mouth out then I turned to her and smiled." I'm not sick Princess, just nervous. It has been a long time since I went to school."

"But Mommy we beat cancer. School is easy and Aunt Alice will be there too!"

I started laughing. My nerves were gone, "you are right baby. Cancer is much harder than school. I love you."

I gave her a quick hug and then scrubbed my teeth. I really hope her attitude continues when it is her turn to go to school.

Alice finished getting me ready and squeezed it the dress of the day. We were out of the house and on our way to school before I had a chance to think straight. Esme was driving a minivan and promised to pick us up when school was over.

The building made of red bricks and was big. Five floors including the basement where the lunch room was and then there was an attached building that just for the gym and physical education. I really hope that all the walking will help with the weight loss. When mom took me to get tested yesterday I had passed almost all the core classes that are required for graduation. The only ones I had not passed were chemistry, biology, and a human growth class and then I have a ton of electives I need to take. I really do not think I need to take the human growth class considering I have a kid of my own but my dad wants me to take the class. Something about it being a teenage rite of passage or some other bull shit like that. I mean come on I know where babies come from! I have one! Yes I do not remember the act and god help me I have no idea what to do with a guy if ever faced with that nightmare but do I really need a class? Could my mom or sisters not explain things? They are mated to their partners and I am not naïve enough to think that they do not engage in carnal relations. I am not looking forward to the class. The other two sounded interesting but I have never been good at mixing things. When I was ten, a haz mat clean-up crew had to come clean the house because I mixed bleach and ammonia in a toilet. The nanny got fired and my parents were really mad. I got yelled at for over an hour.

I had been told after testing that I could probably just take the GED test and skip this but everyone thinks it is a great idea and I really do want the experience. The rest of the classes are electives and should all be fun. I have always liked performing arts.

Alice and Renesmee walked me to the office and we were given a gruff, "sit down someone will be with you in a minuet."

I sat down and looked at the red heels Alice put me in. She had giggled when I said I could not wear those to school and told me they were my weapons of mass destruction. River Song would be proud of my shoes. When I asked her who Miss Song was she just about had a fit and went into this long speech about how we were going to have a Doctor Who marathon and by the time it was over I would be a fan. I'm not even sure whom or what Doctor Who is but apparently she is a fan and wants me to be too.

"Miss Cullen? Miss Violet Cullen?" Crap I forgot I was a Cullen now. The middle-aged blonde woman seemed a little annoyed but kept a smile on her face.

Alice giggled at me as I stood up quickly and Renesmee gave her a dirty look

"I am Violet Ms. Umm..." I said to the principal I had met the other day. I could not remember her name for the life of me.

"Ms. Harrison. I have your class schedule and a map of the school for you. We are short on lockers but your cousin has agreed to let you share with him." She handed me some papers.

Cousin? What cousin? I was really lost. I don't have cousins I have brothers, sisters, a niece, parents and whatever Seth and Jacob where and a kind of sort of uncle but not really an uncle because he was a vampire and my parents consider him their son and I desperately want to kiss again but knew I could not do that again but no cousins.

Renesmee giggled at me, "Jasper said you could share his locker. Alice and I are already sharing otherwise one of us would have let you share too."

"Oh um… that was nice of him. Where is Jasper and Jacob anyway?"

Renesmee giggled, "Jake is in detention he lost his temper and hit some idiot who thought he could try hitting on me. Jasper is tutoring some kid in the library this morning. You will see them at lunch unless you have them in another class before then."

"Oh…" I looked down at the class schedule and gulped. Eight full classes and no study hall, my time with Alexandra was going to be cut even shorter because of homework. Alice and Renesmee both read over my shoulder.

"Oh good we have Chemistry together! Maybe we can be lab partners!" Renesmee seemed excitedly. "I'll meet you at your locker and then we can go together! I have to get to home room. I'll catch up with you later!"

I watched her go and grabbed Alice's hand, the nerves were back.

Alice grinned at me, "You are going to have a great day! I can tell! I will see you in dance class."

What? Wait I did not sign up for dance class! I felt the panic building. I was going to kill someone in that class. Hippos do not dance!

Alice let go of my hand and hurried away as a bell rang. "I got to go!"

She hurried away too and I chewed on my lip.

"Miss Cullen you will be fine. You can be late to your classes today but tomorrow and there after you will be held accountable for any tardiness. I will show you to your locker and then you need to get to your first class." Ms. Harrison told me.

I nodded and she led me out of the office. The halls were busy. Everyone was moving quickly and some of the kids were joking around. I kept my eyes trained on the principal's back and tried to keep up.

She led me down a ramp and into an open area with large red lockers. Then she led me to a locker, "this is your locker. I recommend you keep as much stuff in here as possible and only carry what you need. Make sure the combination works and then I will leave you to get to class."

Another bell rang and I jumped a little as I spun the dial. The locker opened easily and Ms. Harrison left. There were several pictures taped to the inside of the door and I took a moment to look at them. There were several of just Jasper and Alice, another was of the family and a third was of Edward, Bella and Emmett sitting on the back of Emmett's jeep. Emmett was laughing at something Edward was doing and Bella was rolling her brown eyes. The picture must have been taken while she was still a human. Emmett looked so happy and carefree and my chest hurt a little, I missed Emmett. He had not been back like everyone said he would. I did not mean to drive him from his home. I just wanted to get my own feelings in order and I wanted him to want me for me and not as a distraction. Everyone says I am wrong about that one too but there is no way he could want me that way. I am not blonde or pretty like my Aunt was. My chest hurt even more when I thought about that so I shoved it aside. I could think of it later when I was alone.

I hung my bag on the hook, pulled out the notebook and my purse. I shoved the locker shut with my hip and looked at the schedule again. Room 341: home room: Brown.

I looked at the map and then headed for the nearest stairwell. I passed a glass area and I could see the school swimming pool and made a mental note to see if I could use it once in a while for the weight loss.

When I got to the third floor I had problems finding room numbers and everyone else was moving to fast for me to ask. Another bell rang and the halls seemed to magically empty leaving me alone and lost. I kept walking and the echo of my heals were driving me crazy. I was about to give up when Jasper came out of a room with a backpack slung over one shoulder. "Calm down you're going to start a school wide panic. I could feel you all the way in the library."

I was so relieved to see him I had to blink back tears, "I'm lost!"

"Well now you are found and I can get you to your next class. Where are you going?" he said grinning.

"Room Three Forty One."

He grinned even more, "You are in luck! We have home room together! Come on I'll show you where it is."

"Are you not going to be in trouble for being late?" I knew I was late but I was excused today.

"Mrs. Brown knows I tutor in the library every morning and I am allowed to be a little late. Besides she likes me." He said as we walked thru the hall.

As we walked he gave me a better understanding of the school layout and I thanked him for allowing me to share a locker with him. When we got into the classroom the teacher pointed to a desk near Jasper's and told me they had assigned seating. Thankfully she did not make me introduce myself or anything. The announcements were read and then the bell rang again. I had made it thru the first twenty minutes.

Jasper pointed me in the direction of my first period class and wished me luck. Then he disappeared in the crowed. Luckily my next class was on that same floor. Unluckily it was the Human Growth and Development class.

I found it with plenty of time but there was no teacher so I just stood next to their desk. As I looked around the room I could see bananas on the desks and could hear two boys whispering to each other and I turned away from them while I waited, oddly enough I did not see any girls come into the room.

"We got a sub? Mr. Pollack is sick today?"

"Looks like it. Guess she gets to teach us about putting rubbers on."

"Dude I could put a rubber on and fuck her before she knew what was going on."

I thought about leaving but and gray-haired man walked into the room before I could, "Can I help you miss?"

"Um… I am Violet Cullen. It is my first day and my schedule says I am to report here? I think there has been a mistake." God please let there be a mistake because if there is not I am going to call my mother and have her come get me. I will test out! There is no way I am sticking around for this! The idea of that boy touching me made my skin crawl. I also thought of having one of my brother's break him but that was grossly unfair too.

He smiled at me, "no you are in the right place but our girls are in another class room for the next three weeks. Mrs. Jennings is teaching the girls for this chapter. If you will follow me I'll show you to her room."

"Oh good!" crap did I say that out loud? I hurried up to follow him and tried to explain myself, "sorry, I am just glad I am not the only girl in the class."

"I understand." He led me into the class next to the prior one and woman in her late twenty was standing at the front of the room taking roll call. "Mrs. Jennings this is Violet Cullen. The new student we were told about. There was a mix up and she was not told of the change this chapter."

"Thank you I will take care of it from here."

Mr. Pollack left and Mrs. Jennings showed me to a seat. Apparently this class had assigned seating too.

The class was not bad we learned about different types of birth control and how to put a condom on a banana. For me the bad part was when they showed an illustration of the condom on a male penis. I am really glad my seat is in the back and no one could see me blushing like I was.

When class was over I hurried out as fast as I could go and looked for my next class. I found the Science department easily, there was a a terrarium in the hall but I got confused when I went into it there were not a lot of doors but I could not seem to find the numbers. It was most frustrating.

I was about to walk into the first one when someone lifted me up from behind. I squeaked and drove my heel into their shin. Guess the stilettos were good for something after all.

"OUCH! What did you do that for?" Jacob complained as he put me down.

Renesmee walked over to him and smacked his arm, "Maybe because she is in a new school and she doesn't really know anyone here and you think it's ok to grab her from behind!"

"Um… Sorry Violet." Jake said as he rubbed his shin.

"you are forgiven but please refrain from lifting me again."

He nodded at me and left as Renesmee grabbed my arm and pulled me into a class. "You'll like Mr. Baker. He is really kind of funny and if we are lucky he will get talking about his life and we never get to the lesson."

I sighed and hoped we could keep him on track. I wanted to learn not listen to some old guy talk about himself.

Class went quickly and we were given a lot of homework. It's going to take at least an hour to do. I was not looking forward to tonight.

I was excited about my Pottery class and practically ran up to the fifth floor. My first attempt was kind of ugly but Mister Lowmen liked it.

The dance class was next and was not as bad as I thought it would be. Mrs. Berger understood to the fact that I was overweight and self-conscious. She let Alice stay with me threw out the class and I actually had fun but tomorrow I was expected to be in proper workout attire.

After class I went across the hall to the Choir room. The room was not what I was expecting. Maybe because I have never been in a real practice room but it was not what I was expecting. The carpet was brown and there were red plastic chairs set up in a semi-circle. The floor was like steps so that there were actually five levels to the room. A man was sitting at the large black grand piano that had been placed at the front of the room. It was loud too. It looked like almost everyone was there already and I felt a bit out of place. I was about to go to the man at the piano but the bell ran before I could move.

A tall skinny woman came rushing in clapping her hands and shouting above the crowd, "Enough everyone. Be seated and we will begin."

The room quieted down really fast and a blonde girl in the front row raised her hand. I think she was in my human growth and development class.

"Yes Brandy?"

"Mrs. Moffat, we have a new girl." She pointed at me standing by the door.

Every eye in the room zoomed in on me and I felt my face turn red as I gave a small wave.

"Who are you?" Mrs. Moffat said gesturing for me to come to her. No one else said a thing they were all watching quietly.

I walked over to her and cleared my throat gently, "Um… I am Violet Cullen. My classroom assignment sheet said I was to come here for this period."

"I was not told we had a new student. You have to audition for this class." She said matter-of-factly.

"Oh I am sorry I will go speak with the office about a new assignment then. I am sorry I bothered you." I turned towards the door ready to run.

"I didn't say you couldn't stay. I said you have to audition for this class. Can you sing?"

I turned toward her again and nodded, "yes Mrs. Moffat. I enjoy singing."

"What can you sing?"

"Um… well just about anything but I enjoy musical theater the most." Crap she was going to make me sing in front of everyone. My mind started to panic again.

"Sit over there after warm ups I want you to sing something and if you pass you can stay. If not we will have you reassigned to another class for this period." She gestured to an empty seat while she talked to me.

I nodded and hurried to the chair.

Warm ups were simple and kind of silly. I was really disappointed when they were over and Mrs. Moffat gestured to me again.

I stood up and walked over to her nervous.

"Do you know the words for Defying Gravity?"

"Which version the musical version or Glee's?" I started chanting in my head, please be Glee, Please be Glee.

"Whatever you are more comfortable with. Just tell Mr. Chester and he will accompany you." She turned and headed to the back of the room.

I took a deep breath and looked at Mr. Chester, "Could you do the Glee version please? I can sing both parts."

He nodded and started the opening cords as I faced the class again. I closed my eyes and sang to the teacher in the back. I used everything my grandmother had ever taught me and hit every note strong and clear. When it was over I started chewing on my lip.

"You may stay." It was all she said to me so I guess I did not do as well as I thought I did but I at least got to stay.

After she rearranged the class a little I was placed in the soprano section and handed some sheet music. Apparently we were starting Christmas music in October.

When class was over I followed the entire class out and headed back to my locker. Jasper and Alice were standing in front of it making out and I had to clear my throat several times. When they did not separate I shoved around them and opened the locker. I stuffed my books in the locker and then started pushing them.

"I know this is all for show but come on you two. I'm the human here, I have no idea where the lunchroom is and I need to eat!" I stopped my foot on Alice's foot and she started laughing thru their kiss.

They broke apart and she grinned at me, "if you expected that to hurt you're wrong."

I rolled my eyes at her, "I know it would not hurt you but it did get your attention. Now the lunch room?"

Jasper directed me to the lunch room and then they went back to making out. I sighed and headed there alone. I filed in line behind two girls wearing a red and white cheer-leading uniforms. The taller one looked me over and then turned to her friend and they started whispering.

"Ignore them. If your not on the cheer team your not worth their time." a girls voice came from behind me.

I turned around and came face to face with a black haired girl, "um... hi."

"I'm Cassy Lane. You're the new girl aren't you?"

"Yeah I am Violet Cullen. It is nice to meet you.

"Are you related to the Alice and Renesmee Cullen?" she seamed surprised.

"Yes Alice is my sister and Renesmee is my niece."

"Niece?"

"Yeah our brother is much older than us."

The line had gotten up to the service area and I chose a chef salad with a vinaigrette dressing. Cassy got some greasy pizza.

"You don't look anything like them."

"Yeah I am adopted."

We moved up and I groaned as I realized I had no cash on me. I pulled out the little black card my parents gave me and handed it to the cashier. She looked at the card and asked to see my driver's license. Once she was sure it matched the name on the card she swiped it and handed them both back.

I carried my tray out into the eating area and looked around. Cassy tapped me on the shoulder, "would you like to sit with me and my friends?

I looked around for Renesmee, Jacob or Alice and Jasper but came up empty. I guess they were avoiding me. "Sure why not. It seems my family has abandoned me."

She led me over to a table in the back corner. "Hay this is Violet Cullen. She's Alice Cullen's sister." Then she turned to me, "this is Sarah." she pointed to a tall skinny skeleton of a girl with bad acne.

I gave her a small smile and I sat down at one of the empty seats at the table.

"So Violet are the Cullen's all that pale?" Sarah asked out of the blue.

I swallowed my mouth full of lettuce and took a sip of the water, "yes it is a family thing. They are allergic to the sun."

"Maybe that is why that Whitlock kid likes Alice so much. Both of them are a little weird. Do you think she is anorexic?"

I choked on my water and set the bottle down. I knew I had to keep their secret and that seemed to be a good way to go about it. "oh please do not tell anyone. Our dad does not realize it and he would have a fit if he found out. He is very concerned about our health and has been helping me get healthy but she is really worried about losing her figure. My old life was very unhealthy and I am getting back in shape the healthy way. Eating right is much better than being hungry all the time. I am worried about her but dad would ship her off to rehab or something. If she would just follow a sensible diet she would be able keep her current weight. She is not anorexic but bulimic I have caught her throwing up dinners a few times since I came to live with them. I know I have to lose weight but I could never do that!"

"What's wrong with the way you are now?" a male voice came from directly behind me.

Sarah and Cassy looked up over my shoulder and started giggling.

I turned around and looked up to see a rather cute black-haired blue-eyed guy grinning down at me, "Um... I..."

He grinned down at me, "Hi I'm Trevor Douglas. You're the new girl right?"

"Ah...hello...um yes?"

The other girls were giggling again as he set his tray on the table next to mine and pulled chair over to our table.

I cleared my throat and felt my face heating up, "I am sorry I am Violet. It is nice to meet you."

I scooted my chair over to make room for him.

"I know you are in my choir class. Nice voice by the way." he plopped down and started eating his pizza like he had not eaten in a year.

"Thank you. Has anyone ever told you that you resemble Bradley Cooper?"

"No but thanks. So where did you move from?"

"Oh I um... Montana." I knew I was treading on thin ice. I had to tell these people about Alexandra. If they had issues with it then oh well I will have to find somewhere else to eat tomorrow. "I moved here because my daughter Alexandra had cancer. Children's was the hospital that was recommended."

The table got quiet and I took a bite of my salad again. I was waiting for the someone else to say something.

Trevor swallowed his pizza and looked at me, "your parents must have freaked out when you got knocked up."

"Yeah but they are gone now. I went to live with my Gram for while and then she passed away and now the Cullen's have adopted me. Alexandra loves her new grandparents and it gave me the chance to finish school. My new family is really great." it sounded rather sad to my own ears but I knew they loved me and that helped make it better."

"I'm sorry your daughter got sick." Sarah said kindly. "Was it bad?"

"Yes I almost lost her but my dad was her doctor and he cured her. My new mom is enjoying being a grandmother now she watches her while I go to school and stuff."

"That's cool," Trevor put his two cents in. "my parents would freak out if I got a girl knocked up."

I felt better. No one here seemed to have an issue with Alexandra. Now I do not know if that is just because I am sitting her or if it is real but I will take it.

"Do you have a picture of her?" Sarah asked.

"Sure!" I dug thru my purse and pulled out my wallet. Inside I passed around the picture of Alexandra and I the day she was released from the hospital. My dad had taken it of me bouncing up and down with her when I found out she was going home. I did not know about it until later but I was very happy to have the memory.

"Oh my god she is so cute!"Cassy squealed. "I can babysit if you need me too!"

"Is her hair coming back or is it gone for good?" Sarah was really curious.

I giggled, "it has started to come back but it is more like it was when she was just born. Soft and thin. Dad said it should thicken it up as she gets older."

Sarah smiled at me, "your really lucky. My baby brother died of cancer when I was little."

"I am sorry for your loss." I felt bad for her. I had seen other families lose someone while we were at the hospital and I was so glad it was not Alexandra.

The bell rang and I jumped a little. Sarah handed me the picture back. "We better get going or we will be late for class! Where are you going next?"

I pulled out the schedule and looked at it, "Um... Biology with Pluggie?"

Cassy grinned, "Great we have the next class together. Your sister's boyfriend is in it too and then there is this really cute guy named Jacob Black."

I grinned at her, "he is my niece's boyfriend and a real dog." I could not help it, it was out of my mouth before I had a chance to stop the thought.

She giggled with me as we dropped off our trays and headed out of the lunch room. "that wasn't nice."

"I know but I have to see him at home all the time. So what is this Pluggie like?"

"Mr. Pluggie is a pain in the ass. He makes his classes long and boring. Plus he only counts your tests for grades."

"What about homework? Does he not assign any?"

"None. He expects you to just figure it out or something."

I sighed and followed her to the class. On older man with obvious hair plugs was standing at the front of the class handing out papers to everyone as they came in. I swallowed the laugh that I felt coming and introduced myself. His name fit his head.

Nothing worth mentioning happened except I got partnered with Jacob for labs.

My next class was Acting with Mr. Sinzheimer. He was a really fun Jewish man who thought the class did not need much structure but still managed to teach his class. Trevor was there too. We paired up for a mirror exercise.

I was ready for a nap by the time I got to my last class.

It was back in the Choir room with Mrs. Moffat and Mr. Chester for voice training. She was nicer that class but still very driven in her teaching methods.

I hurried to my locker and then was headed out when I heard my name being called.

I looked around through the crowds trying to see someone I knew. There were plenty of faces I saw from my classes but there were just to many for me to figure out who had called my name. I sighed and hurried out to the parking lot. I was excited to see my baby.

I has just got outside and was looking for Esme's minivan when someone grabbed my arm, "Violet!"

I spun around and smiled up at Trevor, "Hello, did you need something?

He grinned at me, "well, I was wondering if you wanted to go grab something to eat and hang out. What homework do you have tonight?"

"I have chemistry and I really should read over the biology chapters I have missed so I am not behind. I really should go home. My mom has been watching Alexandra all day too and I should give her a break." I kind of wanted to go but then I thought about Emmett and sadly Alexandra was the only excuse I could really come up with.

"Oh well, I guess I will see you in Choir tomorrow?" he gave me a hopeful look.

"Yeah I will see you in choir." I turned and saw Alice, Jasper, Jacob and Renesmee starting to climb into the minivan and I smiled at Trevor again, " I have to go. There is my mom!"

I hurried over to the van and climbed in quickly. "Where is Alexandra?" she was oddly missing.

"Her Uncle Edward and Seth are watching her." Esme casually said. "How was your day?"

"Ok I guess."

"So who was that boy?"

"Trevor Douglas, he's the theater arts god," Renesmee supplied before I could answer.

"Are you saying your into him?" Jacob sounded jealous.

"Who isn't but he seemed into Violet." Renesmee teased.

"He is not. He is just and friend and being nice. He is in two of my classes." I sighed

Jasper started laughing, "Yeah right he was defiantly not putting out a friendship vibe."

I sighed, "Can we just drop it is my first day for crying out loud. I just want to go home and see my baby."

"Of course we can,Violet." My mom said to me. Then she turned around and looked at the others, "And the rest of you leave her alone." With that she pulled out and headed home.
