I looked down both hallways for what seemed like the thousandth time. Mike was in the chair, scrutinizing every camera view he could.
This was bad. Very bad. If we couldn't find the animatronics, then we would have to expect them to be outside. And killer robots roaming the streets of Utah was NOT good.
"Where the heck are they?" Mike hissed.
"The kitchen?" I suggested.
"I can't see or hear anything in there," was his panicked reply. "Dear God, did they go AWOL?!"
"I dunno." My voice was shaky as I shined my flashlight down the left hallway.
Mike put down the PalmPilot and scrambled for his flashlight. "That's it. I'm going to find them." He stood up and switched it on. "You comin'?"
I realized that leaving the office was our only option at that point. I reluctantly followed my partner down to the dining hall, both of us jumping at the slightest noise.
The dining hall was deserted, with the faint smell of stale pizza still in the air. The silence was unnerving, especially if you were used to the large amounts of screaming kids that were usually in the area. Our beams of light illuminated the empty stage.
"I don't like this," I whispered. My voice seemed to be deafening against the absence of noise in the pizzeria. I pointed my flashlight over at Pirate Cove. The curtains were wide open and I sighed.
"I don't like it either," Mike agreed. "C'mon, let's go check the restrooms."
We crept past rows and rows of tables covered in white tablecloths, which weren't so white anymore due to the masses of pizza stains dotting the fabric. At least, I hoped it was pizza stains.
Mike refused to go in the girls' restrooms, so I ended up going in there alone. There was a weird stench in the air and a constant dripping of a leaky pipe made my skin crawl. All the stalls were wide open, revealing nothing but old toilets. Still, it was a miracle that I didn't run out of there screaming and crying.
Of course, neither of us found any of the animatronics, so we had no choice but to go in the kitchen. I was not happy about it at all, and I could tell Mike wasn't too pleased either.
Even though I was sort of used to a dark kitchen, the thought of the animatronics hiding in the shadows was enough to get my heart pounding. Paranoia was taking over. I flinched at every footstep, and let out a loud scream when my friend accidentally knocked over a stack of pots.
I was looking around in the back corner when my flashlight picked up the shape of an old wooden door. There were holes, around the size of the average bullet, perfectly carved into the oak.
"That's the door I was telling you about," Mike said as he walked over. He tried shining his beam of light through one of the holes.
"Should we...go in?" I suggested. I hoped that we didn't have to.
He hesitated. "Well, this is the only room we haven't searched yet...there is a possibility that they could be hiding in there..."
I groaned.
Mike put his hand on the old brass knob. He kept it there for a while as he muttered prayers under his breath, then turned it. The door opened with a loud creak that made us both wince. It must not have been opened in years.
Immediately I aimed my flashlight into the room, which was surprisingly big. The light landed on a blank, stone wall. I sighed. Maybe there was nothing there, and we wouldn't have to explore.
Mike shined his flashlight into the room as well, and we let out startled shouts when he discovered a shiny, blue and white head with green eyes.
My eyes widened as I realized what it was. With shaky hands I pointed the light at the face. I saw the long eyelashes, the plastic makeup, the long ears; my suspicions were confirmed.
"Oh God." Mike had gotten a closer look at the face too.
My light moved to the right, and I spotted more; a curved, yellow torso, and bright red cheeks painted onto a brown head, and what looked like a jumble of wires and metal. I also caught a glimpse of an all-too-familiar sign that read, "Balloons!"
Mike had found Bonnie, Chica, Freddy, and Foxy over by the left. They were standing in a circle in the corner of the room. Beside them was the weird yellow animatronic. It was still in the same position.
"What are they looking at?" I asked, relieved that they were still in the building.
"I'm not sure," Mike replied. "I can't believe the others are here."
"I know."
I cautiously took a step towards the old animatronics. They made no move to attack me, so I dared myself to get closer. I managed to get close enough to point my flashlight at the middle of the circle they were making. I saw a white box decorated with a red ribbon like a present and I immediately knew what it was.
I watched in horror as the strange yellow animatronic dropped its pinwheel and reached out to grasp the crank sticking out of the box.
A/N: Done! Boom! Cliffhanger again! And this time, more characters are coming into play. :3
Wow this chapter was long. Lol.
I hope everyone's okay with adding these guys in... :/
Again, sorry about the lateness. Stupid 503 errors. Ugh.
