Chapter 21

One and Half Weeks Later:

"Well Detective Casey," His doctor walked into his hospital room carrying a clipboard with release papers, "I only have a few more questions and then I can release you."

"Okay," Matt nodded eager to get out of the hospital and back home.

"Does your house or apartment have any stairs you need to climb?"

"Yes," He responded fearing the next question.

"That might be a problem." He began, "Although you've recovered well it might be to much strain on your back and shoulder muscles to climb stairs all the time."

"He can stay with me," Gabby spoke up, "I live in a one-floor house."

"Babe you-"

"It's done," She squeezed his hand.

"Well then other then reminding you of your physio appointment twice a week and to work your way up to more solid food I think I can give you these," He handed over the release papers for him to sign.

Barely looking them over Matt signed them and smiled, "No offense Doc but I'm glad to get out of here."

"None taken."

"No, no I'll take that," Gabby swatted Matt's hand away as he reached for his duffel bag.

"Gabby-" He began to protest but as soon as he saw the look in her eyes he knew better then to argue with her. "Thanks," He mumbled and rolled his eyes as he took her hand and walked out of the hospital with her.

They drove to his house and Gabby parked her car in the driveway. She looked at Matt and barely met his eyes before saying, "I can drive you somewhere else if you really don't want to stay with me."

Matt looked at her; she looked like she was about to cry and her checks her flushed in embarrassment, "Oh no sweetie," He took her hands, "I just wanted to make sure you were okay with it that's all.

Smiling a little more Gabby looked at him, "I'm very sure I want my boyfriend staying with me.

"Boyfriend," He grinned, "I like the sound of that."

"Good," She smiled and got out of the car and followed him into his townhouse. "I'll wait here we'll you get some things, unless you want my help," She wiggled her eyebrows at him as he made his way up the stairs and towards his bedroom.

"Sure I'd love some," He replied and he waited for Gabby to catch up to him. As soon as they got into his bedroom he pushed her against the wall weeks of tension build up finally being released, running his fingers through her hair he kissed her and ran his hands around her body.

"Oh Matt!" She moaned out his name and then reached to take his shirt off.

Matt kissed her red lips, "You're so beautiful."

"You're not so bad yourself," She kissed him and led him towards the bed where she pushed him down and sat on top of him straddling him. Running her hands up and down his chest she played with his hairs and moved her hands lower and lower.

"Gabby!" He moaned out her name and sighed happily, "Baby!" He pulled her down on top of him and kissed her bringing her lips down to his and they kissed and for the next hour the made love.

"No!" Daniela ran away from Laura as she tried to put her down her a nap. She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her and into Diego's room where she hid under his blankets and giggled.

Laura walked into the room with her hands on her hips. She was annoyed as her daughter wouldn't go down for a nap but couldn't help but smile at how cleaver she thought she was in her hiding place, "Oh I wonder where Daniela is. I guess I'll just leave."

"Mommy!" Daniela lifted her head tears in her eyes, "Mommy!" She climbed down off the bed and ran over to her attaching herself on her leg, "No go."

"Oh baby," Laura's heart broke at the sight of the girl so afraid of the dark, "Mommy's not going anywhere. Now you know you have a nightlight that I'll turn on and Chocolate will keep you safe." She said as she lifted her up into her arms, "Can you try to sleep for Mommy?"

Daniela snuggled Chocolate close to her, "De" She hugged it looking at Laura.

"Yes that's right sweetie Diego gave you that bear. Diego will be back from school when you wake up. The sooner you go to sleep the sooner you'll see him.

"E?"

"And Eva.

"Papi?"

"Daddy's at work until tomorrow but then you'll spend all day with him. You need your rest," She kissed her curly brown hair, "Can you go to sleep for Mommy?"

Daniela looked at her crib and buried her head in Laura's shoulder, "No!" She sobbed.

After Daniela spent the day with them they discovered the reason for her nightmares was probably due to the things she'd seen at night when she was held captive. There were no signs she was ever physical abused but the doctor's and child psychologist's had told them she might have been sexually abused as there were some evidence to that affect.

"You're safe now baby," She soothed her but still Daniela kept crying, like she always did when it was time for bed. Soon Laura knew she'd fall asleep out of pure exhaustion but they needed to make her see she was safe and nothing would happen to her.

For help Antonio had reached out to his cousin Nick who said he'd come down for a few days to see what he could do, he mentioned he'd bring his friend and boss Olivia Benson as well.

"Mama!" Daniela grasped her tightly.

"Nothing will happen to you," Laura kissed her, "Mommy promises."

Daniela cried and screamed as Laura put her in the crib and tucked her in. She turned on both of Daniela's night-lights and left the door open as she walked out of the room. Her heart breaking as she heard her daughter continue to cry out for her.

"How many clothes do you think I should bring?" Matt wondered as he looked through his drawers. He wouldn't admit it out loud to Gabby but he was feeling sore after their 'exercising' rubbing his shoulder when he thought she didn't notice; unaware that she knee what he was doing.

"I don't know," She shrugged her shoulders up and down looking at him, "However many you want. Lets just get back to my place so you can take some medication and relax."

"I'm fine Gabby," He tried to tell her.

"Matt its okay to be in pain. You're recovering from a major injury! When we get back to my place I'm giving you some of the pain medication and then you're resting. You may be out of the hospital but you still need to sleep."

"Yes ma'am," Matt fake saluted her as he threw in clothes into his suitcase and stood up with it only to cry out in pain. "Ah!"

"Oh baby!" Gabby rushed towards him taking the suitcase. "Oh it's a little swollen," She stated, "Maybe we should lay off something's for awhile," She added trying to insert some humor into the situation.

"No," He shook his head, "I can't I'll be fine."

"Don't be so tough," She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. "It's not a good look on you."

"Lets go to your apartment," He avoided the question.

"Good idea," She picked up the suitcase and in her other hand took Matt's as they walked slowly and carefully down the stairs. He locked up his house and followed her to her car. He drive to her place taking almost twenty minutes Matt followed her into the house, "You go get comfortable," She set the bag down and took off her shoes.

"Uh-huh," Matt walked over to the couch and sat down. His shoulders now in a lot of pain and he fought the urge to cry. He could feel them swelling up and it stung and hurt in ways Matt couldn't imagine. He was in so much pain he didn't even see Gabby leave and come back carrying a pain pill and a glass of water. He swallowed the pill and took a long glass of water, "Thanks Babe."

"You're welcome," She settled carefully down beside him, "Want to see what's on TV or watch a movie?"

"Movie's good."

"Okay," She stood, "First though I'll go make you some soup and a sandwich and then you can have some ice cream."

His stomach growling Matt only nodded his head. His jaw was sore as well and he found it hurt to talk so he decided tor say very little. Luckily though Gabby seemed to understand why he wasn't talking.

"You pick out a movie, anyone you want," She kisses his lips gently and then left to go into the kitchen.

Carefully standing to his feet Matt walked over to her DVD collection and scanned the rows finally settling on the movie Shrek. When she returned with their food he held it up for her to see, "Figure we could both use a laugh."

"Good choice," She set the food down on the coffee table and walked over to collect the DVD. Once it was in she walked back to the couch and sat on Matt's good side snuggling into him and sighing contently. She knew it was crazy but she really believed Matt was the one for her. She couldn't see herself marrying anyone else and her body tingled as she pictured her fathering her children.
