Chapter 21
Minor (Major) Changes
Jack's POV
I changed my staff into the small brown pencil, but kept it in my hand at the ready. Pitch, that sneaky weasel, could be lurking anywhere. My feet touched the ground, and I realized I didn't have any shoes on. I walked calmly to the school door. I may have looked calm, but my insides were a jittery mess. I opened the door and saw a normal busy school morning. Nothing off about that. I felt like something was wrong, though. I walked into the crowd, searching for the familiar glint of sunny blond hair, or the bright curly red. Chocolate brown? Platinum blond? Nothing. I curled into a ball in front of the lockers. Ugh. It was over. Pitch had everybody, and they-
"Excuse me," My head shot up.
"Elsa?" It wasn't Elsa. Or at least, she was different than normal. Her hair was brown, and she didn't look like the shy girl I thought she was.
"Yes. Who are you? And what's up with the outfit? No offense, but it's a little weird."
"Erm, I'm Jack. My friend...uh... Hiccup told me about you," Why didn't she know who I was? Think, think! Right as everything started to black out the night before, Pitch said something. What was it? Think Jack, think! Oh!
'Now clear their memories, idiot boys! You too, afterwards.' He said to Hans and Hiccup. 'They can't get their powers back if they don't remember. And just torturing this one with it will be fun. Now...'
Nothing else. I had to save my gang! I would need to get one of those black stones first. But where?
I snapped out of it. Elsa had seemed to have noticed he wasn't paying attention and was now talking to... Punzie. She looked different too. Her hair was a choppy brown bob and her clothes were dark. Punzie looked depressed.
"These are not the people I know," I murmured. Pitch's torture was working. The only family I had was long dead. My friends at school were the next closest thing, but they were slipping away. "I'm going to get them back." I declared. I didn't care who heard it.
Anna's POV
I woke up, gasping and cold. For almost the whole time we had lived here, I had had nightmares every night.
"Ugh, I'm sick of this!" I pulled my blanket over my freezing feet and hugged my handmade me and Elsa dolls close. Using the technique Mom had taught me to make my nightmares seem less scary, I closed my eyes.
I was in my bed, safe, but a second later, I wasn't. I was in a bubble that was dark and my size. I couldn't pop it. And when I tried, it sent awful pains into my body. So I stopped and lay down. I couldn't see out of the bubble. Eventually, I got bored. Where was I? Would I ever get home? I put my face up close to the front of the bubble without trying to touch it. Elsa! She was with some other kids her age, and a man and woman. Who were they? Were they going to hurt her, put her in a bubble too? I wanted to tell her to get out of here. The place around her was a ratty and dirty house. I banged on the bubble, but it hurt too much. I lay down, curled up. I wanted to go home. Bad thoughts flooded my brain about Mom, Dad, and Elsa being in danger. Eventually, it was too much. I closed my eyes, and woke up in bed. Was it a dream? It felt so real. I couldn't shake off the bad feeling. I turned on my bedside light, but everything was normal. Nothing was in my room. I got out of bed, my bare feet on the cold ground. I opened the door and ran quickly into the library across the hall. Once I closed the door and quickly turned on the light, I felt safe. The library was my escape from life when I was still homeschooled. Mom and Dad were always busy with work, and Elsa never wanted to talk to me. I walked around for a bit, and flipped to my favorite part of my favorite book, 'Charlottes' Web'. The part when Wilbur meets Charlotte. I love it because Wilbur finds friends when he didn't before. I was lonely, so I related to it. I put the book back on the shelf. I walked into another part of the library. It was neat as always, and nothing looked wrong. But something felt off. One book lay on the floor. It was a big, boring book that I saw Dad looking at once. I think he also brought it on a business trip, too. Why? I don't know. I opened it. Seriously, what's the big deal? A page was ripped out. It wasn't that even though. I could see it was a little bit of a map. The title of the book was, 'Magic Creatures in Everyday life'. The map ripped out was next to the one about trolls.
Hello!
Sorry, if you haven't seen Frozen, this last part probably won't make much sense. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed as it is. Happy Valentine's Day guys! If you don't celebrate Valentine's Day, I hope you're having/had a good weekend.
Happy reading!
