Chapter 21- Wait For Me

Amy woke up with a start when she felt coldness on her hand again.

"Regulus, I told you to stop this," Amy mumbled, still half asleep. She felt the coldness again and then heard voices yelling from downstairs.

"Shit," she yelled, as she jumped up out of her bed.

Amy wasn't sure what was happening but it couldn't be good if Regulus had woken her up and there were people yelling downstairs.

Just as Amy was about to reach her door, she heard a knock.

"Come in," Amy called out

The door opened to reveal Remus standing there.

"Remus, you're back already?" Amy queried, she was surprised to see him back so soon,but then realised that she must have slept longer than she had intended too.

"Amy, Sirius needs you. You need to get downstairs now!" Remus said urgently.

Amy could hear more yelling coming from downstairs, "Where is he?" she demanded.

"The library with Tonks."

Amy didn't wait to hear any more, she ran out past Remus and downstairs as fast as she could. Once she reached the library door, she saw Tonks trying to calm Sirius down over something.

"She was right there Tonks, I saw her lying right there," Sirius bellowed, as he pointed to the ground.

"You need to calm down. Remus already explained to you that it wasn't really Amy. It was just a Boggart that we missed when we cleaned the house. That's why you initially saw Harry first and then it changed to Amy," Tonks replied still trying to calm Sirius down.

"She wasn't breathing Tonks, she was lifeless. It was just like when I found James and Lilly, except this time it was Harry and Amy. I still feel sick in the stomach, after seeing that," Sirius argued and Amy could hear the pain in his voice. She couldn't imagine what Sirius had just gone through, it must have been awful seeing both Harry and her like he had.

"Amy and Harry are both fine Sirius. You have both Dobby and Kreacher watching over Harry at Hogwarts, as well as Carissa. Remus has gone upstairs to get Amy for you now, we both know that she is perfectly safe here," Tonks insisted.

"I still saw them there, they were both dead. What if it's real next time? What if something happens and I can't save them?" Sirius yelled again.

Amy couldn't take it any longer, "I'm right here Sirius, nothing has happened to me."

Sirius looked up and saw Amy standing by the doorway. "I saw you, you were dead," he said softly and Amy thought that he was about to start crying.

Amy ran over to Sirius and hugged him tightly. "It's okay Muttley, I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere," she reassured him.

"I said some horrible things to you Amy, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have lost my temper at you. I should have stayed to talk with you, instead of acting like a jerk. Seeing you like that made me realise how I can't live without you in my life. Can you please forgive me?" Sirius begged, as he held onto Amy.

"Of course I can, I even understand why you reacted that way. It still hurt me though and I'd appreciate not being compared to that rat scum again," Amy answered.

"Never," Sirius promised.

As they stood there holding each other, Amy suddenly remembered that Tonks had been in the room. She let go of Sirius and turned around to look for her but she was nowhere to be seen.

"Looks like Tonks has disappeared," Amy commented.

"She probably wanted to give us some time to talk things over," Sirius replied

"Did you want to talk now or do you still need more time to process everything?" Amy asked gently, not wanting to push Sirius too much.

Sirius thought for a moment and then said, "Tell me what Regulus needs, tell me why we need to help him."

"This is going to sound weird but it's the truth. I can communicate with Regulus. I can only ask him yes or no questions and he answers by touching my hand. He is stuck here Sirius and we need to help him cross over to the other side. He is refusing to go to anyone else for help, he wants us to do it. He is the one that has woken me up every time you have needed my help. He is trying to help you too Sirius, in his own way," Amy explained.

"I get why he has asked us to help but I don't understand one thing. What do you mean he can't cross over to the other side? Other side of what?" Sirius asked.

"Sorry, I forgot about wizards not knowing this. Muggles have a theory that some ghosts cannot completely transition across to the afterlife, if they have unfinished business on this Earth," Amy answered.

"Oh, I remember Lily telling me about that. They stay here until they can get their message across to someone," Sirius said.

"Exactly," Amy agreed.

"Reggie needs to get a message across to us, but can't do it?" Sirius guessed.

"That's right, I think Kreacher knows part of what the message is, but I don't know if he knows the whole thing," Amy confirmed.

"So I need to speak with Kreacher?"

"If you want to help Regulus at all, then yes. Kreacher is our only option at this stage. I'll talk to him with you, if you need me to," Amy offered.

"I appreciate it Amy but I think maybe this is something that I need to talk to Kreacher about on my own. I think it would help me as well as Regulus, and it might help me deal with some of my issues with Kreacher," Sirius said.

"That is a good idea. When were you going to talk to him?" Amy asked.

"Probably tomorrow, I need to some time to prepare myself for it, but not too long, otherwise I might try to back out of it." Sirius replied and then added "There's also something else we need to talk about Amy."

"What?" Amy felt her heart start to race again. She had a feeling Sirius was going to ask about their kiss.

"Us."

"What do you mean?" Amy asked.

" I mean we need to talk about our kiss Amy. We need to talk about what we both want and we need to be honest with each other about this. I like you Amy, and I think there's more to us then just friendship. Seeing you taken from me made me realise that, but I need to know exactly how you feel," Sirius confessed.

Amy took a deep breath, there was no more hiding her feelings now. She couldn't tell him that she loved him just yet, but he had to know why she was wary of pushing things further.

"I like you too Sirius but there are lots of things that we need to consider. Mostly, your trust issues. I can't be with someone who doesn't trust me completely. I know your trust issues stem from what went on with Pettigrew and that you are getting better, but you still haven't dealt with all those emotions properly. Once you are free, I really think that you need to see a mind healer to help you resolve all the issues of your past. Secondly, you and Harry need to spend some more time alone together. I think that is crucial for both of you, he needs you Sirius. He needs you to support him, and you need him so that you always remember that you have something here to live for. I like Harry and I don't want to come between you and him spending time together. Thirdly, once you get your freedom, there is going to be lots of media attention on you. I don't want to be the person that gets left behind when the media circus rolls in. If you want to try something more with me, you need to be committed to me. There are going to be plenty of women throwing themselves at you, and I know that I can't compete with all of them. I'm not asking for anything much, just that if we do become something else eventually, that you are faithful and treat me with respect," Amy said, finally letting her feelings out.

Sirius grabbed hold of Amy's hands "Amy, I have stronger feelings for you then I have ever had for anyone. I would do anything you ask me to. I know I still have a lot of issues from the past and I'm prepared to work on them. As for other women throwing themselves at me, once I'm with someone, I'm with them only and no one else. However, I also expect the same in return, obviously loyalty is a big thing for me. I can't guarantee you anything Amy. I haven't been with anyone for years now, so I know that it's not going to be easy for either of us. But if you give me a chance, I'll try my hardest to make sure you are happy. As for Harry, he really likes you Amy and I don't think he would have a problem with us being more than friends. You aren't the type of person to get jealous over me spending time with him and he is at school most of the year, so I'm sure he won't care how much time we spend together then. The most important thing in this world to me, is keeping both of you safe."

They both stayed silent for a minute, processing everything they had just admitted to each other.

Amy finally broke the silence,"Where do we go from here then?"

"I don't know how long it will take before I can get help Amy. All I want is a chance once I do, to prove that I can treat you better than anyone else. I'm not a patient man normally but I can see why you don't want to rush things. I waited 12 years in Azkaban for revenge, I can wait even longer than that for you. I just need to know that you will give me a chance eventually?" Sirius pleaded.

"Of course I will Sirius, I'm yours," Amy confirmed.

"Thankyou," Sirius whispered and then he gave her a quick kiss on her lips.

"Now we have that sorted, what are we doing now?" Amy asked, not sure what she was supposed to do.

"I'm hungry, I'm going to get something to eat."

Just as Sirius finished speaking, Amy's stomach started growling.

"Sounds like you are too, come on then," Sirius laughed.

As they walked out of the room and went to head towards the kitchen, they both got a shock when they saw Tonks push Remus up against wall and start to snog him senseless.

"Bloody hell you two, get a room would you. This house has plenty of them," Sirius called out as they walked past.

Tonks turned around and just glared at her cousin, while Remus went bright red with embarrassment.

"We will leave you to it. Remus be good to my cousin or I will kill you and Tonks look after Remus, he is one of the good ones," Sirius joked as he continued walking to the kitchen.

As they reached the kitchen Amy asked Sirius, "Do you think anything is going happen between them now? Or will they just ignore it?"

"If I know Moony like I do, he will try and push Tonks away because of his werewolf issues. But Tonks has Black blood running through her and we always get what we want. He doesn't stand a chance," Sirius replied cockily.

"That's a bit arrogant of you Black's isn't it? Thinking that you can always get what you want," said Amy.

"Well, it's true," Sirius boasted.

Amy decided to test Sirius and his claim, "Do you have what you want then?"

"I have you, don't I," Sirius replied, smirking at her.

"You still have some work to do for that," Amy pointed out.

"Luckily I like a challenge then," Sirius said, as he entered the kitchen.

Amy sighed as she followed him in, while she was relieved to know that Sirius felt something for her, this was new territory for both of them. They had crossed a line and there was no turning back now.

A/N- Finally Sirius and Amy get to have the chat they needed and Sirius has finally realised exactly what Amy means to him. Tonks has decided to take matters into her own hands with Remus, but it will not be an easy road for them. In the next chapter we find out how Kingsley and Carissa are going and Sirius and Amy discover how to help Regulus.
