Harry raised his finger to his mouth indicating he and McGonagall should be quiet as he watched the scene unfold inside the room.
Snape was gazing quietly at Dumbledore, his wand pointed at the headmaster.
"Do it!" Yaxley growled. "C'mon Snape we don't have all day!"
"No one's asking you to stay and watch Yaxley," Snape muttered.
"Maybe I don't trust you to get the job done unsupervised,"Yaxley said. "I question your alliance."
"If there was any question as to which side I was on would the old fool be lying on the ground at my mercy?"
"If you were truly allied with darkness you would have gotten the job done already!" Yaxley countered.
"Please." Dumbledore whispered. "Please Severus."
"Listen to him beg for mercy," laughed Rodolphous.
"As If he's got a chance at survival!"
"If you don't do it I will," Yaxley threatened withdrawing his wand.
"No!" snapped Snape as he turned back to Dumbledore. He stared hard at the old man and with a growl he ground out, "Avada Kedavra!"
Dumbledore slumped to the floor. Harry's face went beat red, his blood pumping hard. Before he knew what he was doing he slammed the door open with an angry scream. Yaxley spun around, wand aimed at him but Harry was quicker. Filled with hurt and rage Harry sent Yaxley flying out the window of the small room they were in. He quickly turned towards Rodolphous as McGonagall cornered Rabastan and together they took out the Lestrange brothers.
Now only Snape remained standing and Harry turned his wand on him. "He trusted you!" Harry spat though clenched teeth. "He trusted you despite everything that you are! And you betrayed him!"
"He was your friend," McGonagall added as she glared at Snape. "How could you do this Severus?"
Snape didn't even raise his wand, rather he dropped it in defeat and stared at the two. "Kill me if you must," Snape said quietly. "I have nothing to live for anymore."
Harry took one step forwards, advancing on him.
Bellatrix cackled as she released the curse on her sister. "You were a fool to come here tonight Andromeda," Bella said. "You should have know you were going to die!"
Andromeda raised a shaking hand and wiped the tears from her eyes. "I'm not here to fight, Bella. I only came to help Draco."
Bellatrix sneered, "I don't want to hear your pathetic excuses Meda. Now let's have some run, shall we? Crucio!"
Andromeda screamed out as Bellatrix's second curse hit her, harder than the first. She could tell her sister was putting everything into the curse, she wasn't holding anything back. She wanted to hurt her, possibly even make her go mad, as mad as she made the Longbottoms. Maybe worse, if that was possible. She was left weeping as Bella released it a second time. Her sister laughed manically, "oh I do love a good family reunion! What say you Cissy?" Bella turned back and looked at her youngest sister. "Cissy?"
"Leave her alone Bella," Narcissa, face pale, said in a quiet voice. "She's not here to hurt us."
"Cissy?" Bella asked, blinking at her sister, surprised, "are you defending her?"
"Just let her go."
Bellatrix laughed. "Oh I see how it is. You always did have a good relationship with Meda, didn't you Cissy? Secret get togethers behind mothers and Lucius' back? Until I caught you, isn't that right?"
"You said you wouldn't hurt her."
"That was then," Bella shrugged, "this is now."
"You don't have to do this Bella," Narcissa said taking a few steps towards her sister, "you can show her mercy. She's your sister, Bellatrix. She's blood."
"She's a blood traitor!" snapped Bellatrix. "She doesn't deserve to live!"
"Than kill me," Andromeda coughed, "and make it quick."
Bella laughed, "that wouldn't be much fun now would it?" Bella raised her wand and sent another curse at her sister. Narcissa watched as Andromeda withered in pain on the floor, shrieking for Bella to stop, to end it. She couldn't take it. She pointed her wand at her eldest sister. A flash of blue light and Bella yelped, stopping the curse as a boil appeared on her hand.
"Cissy!" Bella shrieked.
"Leave her alone Bellatrix."
Bella laughed, "you think you can beat me Cissy? I'm older and far more skilled than you."
"That may be true," Cissy agreed her wand hand steady as she aimed it at her sister's heart, "but I have one thing you don't have."
"And what's that?"
"A wand," and with a flick of her wand Bellatrix's went soaring into the air and landed in the rose bush. With an inhuman cry Bella dived at her sister. "When I'm through with you I'll find your traitorous son and he will meet the same end as you! Blood Traitors deserve to die!"
Anger over took Narcissa at her sister's threat and her wand acted on instinct. A green light blasted from it, hitting Bellatrix square in the chest. She fell backwards on the floor with a thud.
Narcissa stared at her older sister for a moment, shocked at what she had just done. Had she really just killed her?
"Cissy," Andromeda said weakly from her place on the ground. "It's okay Cissy. She would have killed you if you hadn't done it."
"I killed my sister," Narcissa said in a hoarse voice. "I killed her meda!"
"I know," Andromeda said as she crawled slowly to her feet. On stumbling legs she walked around Bella's body and over to Narcissa, hesitantly wrapping her arms around her baby sister. "But she was going to kill us and Draco. You did what you had to do."
"Draco!" Narcissa said. "I have to find Draco!"
"We will," Andromeda said, "we will."
"We have to find him before Lucius does!"
"Do you have any idea where they could be?"
"Lucius' office," Narcissa mumbled, "I'm sure that's where he would go. We have to get there before he can hurt Draco!"
Andromeda agreed and took her sister's hand. Together they took one last look back at their sister's body before Narcissa led the way out of the greenhouse to save her only son.
"The fastest way is the west staircase," Narcissa panted as they ran.
"What if we run into any Death Eaters?"
"They won't touch us," Narcissa assured her. "You're with me."
"What are you going to do when we find them?"
Narcissa was quiet as they ran down the stairs, "I don't know." she admitted.
"He'll be alright Cissy," Andromeda said. "Draco's a strong boy."
"I hope you're right," Narcissa muttered as they passed two Death Eaters running the opposite way. Andromeda shot two stunners at them as they passed. "Just because we've allied together doesn't mean I won't continue to fight for my side," she said to Narcissa's questioning look.
Narcissa just nodded taking one last turn before coming up to the hall Lucius's office was located on. She gasped loudly as she saw her husband's dead body lying in the middle of the hall, Draco staring at it with sad eyes.
Hermione and Ron sat together on the floor. Hermione had him wrapped in her arms, his head on her shoulder as he cried out his despair. He had done so many terrible things while under the influence of Zabini, too many to name. He'd lost count of the people he'd tortured, some that he'd even killed without remorse- at the time anyways. He was feeling all of those things now, and the guilt was becoming too much to bare.
"I'm sorry," he sobbed over and over again. "I'm sorry!"
"Shh, it's okay Ron," Hermione soothed him. "Everything's okay now. I promise."
"Your mum!" Ron suddenly said with wide, glassy eyes as he stared at her face in shock. "I'm sorry Mione! I'm so sorry!"
Hermione blinked quickly to stop the tears from falling, "she's okay Ron. We sent her to your mum. She's going to be okay."
"My fault," he cried. "It's all my fault!"
"No Ron," Hermione said sternly, "this is not your fault. This is Zabini's fault, but he's dead now. He can't control you anymore."
"We have to find Voldemort," Ron said shakily, than added in a quieter voice, "he's terrifying Mione."
Hermione nodded solemnly, "I know. If you don't want to come I have a port key you can take back to the Burrow. Your mum is there. She'll heal you."
"No," Ron said trying to control himself. "I have to face him. You need me, anyways. I know where to find him."
"Are you sure you're going to be okay?"
Ron nodded, "yeah. where's Harry?" He asked finally realizing his best friend's presence was missing.
"Searching for you and Voldemort."
"Well lets go find him and show him where the bastard is."
Nodding in agreement Hermione helped Ron to his feet and, hand in hand they walked out of the room together.
Draco was gazing down at his father's body unsure how to feel. The man had been an abusive bastard at times, but he'd still been his father. Arthur could tell Draco was feeling confused and he slowly walked towards him, placing a hand on his shoulder in comfort.
"I'm sorry son," he said quietly.
Draco shook his head, "don't be. He was going to kill both of us. It's better off this way. Too many people have died at his hands, at least now they can all rest in peace knowing their killer is now also dead."
He stood there for a moment in silence, giving himself a chance to grieve. That was how his mother found him as she rounded the corner, his aunt Andromeda in tow behind her.
"Draco!" Narcissa gasped, her hand flying up to cover her mouth in shock. "Did you-you-?"
Draco shook his head, "it wasn't me."
"You," she growled turning on Arthur, her wand poised at him. Andromeda stepped forwards to grab her wrist at the same time Draco stepped in front of him.
"I won't let you hurt him mother," Draco said to Narcissa's surprised face.
"Nor will I," Andromeda said.
Narcissa shook her sister off her wrist and straightened her robes as she looked hard at Draco. "You protect this man? This-this-this- Weasley?"
Draco nodded, "I do. He saved my life mother. He killed father only because father was going to kill both of us. You will show him mercy and you will let him live. He's done no harm."
Narcissa nodded and pocketed her wand reluctantly.
"Thank you," he said softly than in a louder voice, "We have to find him, mother. This has to end tonight. Do you know where Voldemort is?"
Narcissa squeaked unattractively at the mention of the name but nodded, "the drawing room."
"Of course he is," Draco scoffed. "Are you with us or against us mother?"
"I'm with you Draco. Always."
"Than let's go." Arthur and Andromeda turned to go, as Narcissa walked up to Draco.
"I'm sorry Draco," she told him softly. "I'm sorry for everything your father put you through. I should have been a better mother. I should have stopped him from hurting you, from putting you in this position. You are far too young to be fighting in a war."
"There's nothing you could have done, mother. Father probably would have killed you had you tried to stop him from raising me the way he wanted."
"You don't understand Draco, I swore to myself I wouldn't become the person that I am today. I never wanted to be a Death Eaters wife. Your father chose that path but I didn't have to follow him. I shouldn't have followed him."
"You can't change the past," Draco said voice tight. "But you can change the future. You can start by fighting alongside me and the Order. We have to kill him mother. Voldemort must die."
Narcissa nodded, "than let's go kill him.
Harry stopped three feet in front of the potions master glaring down at him in disgust.
"How could you?" he spat.
"Not everything is as black and white as you see it Potter." Snape replied in his lazy drawl from his position on the floor.
"Why do you want to die so badly?"
Snape laughed humorlessly, "I've wanted to die for fifteen years, Potter. Dumbledore was the only one keeping me alive."
Harry scoffed, "I don't believe a word you say Snape! You're a traitor!"
Snape sighed sadly, "There is so much you don't understand."
"Are you saying I'm as foolish as a student Severus?" McGonagall quipped. "Even I am having a difficult time understanding this. Albus trusted you, regardless of the amount of evidence against you. He always stayed true to you. And you betrayed him!"
"Minerva even you know how mysterious and wise Albus was," Snape shook his head. "I can not tell you why he chose to do the things he did, but I can promise you my loyalties have always stayed with him."
"Bullocks!" Harry shouted. "He trusted you and you killed him!"
"Albus was dying," Snape said sounding sad, "he'd been cursed. You had to have seen his hand? Noticed the dead look to it. The curse was slowly spreading. It was only a matter of time before the curse took his life. He couldn't have it that way."
Snape turned to Harry and looked him straight in the eyes as he said, "he's in the drawing room Potter. Find him. kill him. The Dark Lord has caused far too much suffering for too long."
"And what of you?" McGonagall asked.
"Kill me," Snape begged.
Harry turned to McGonagall, "he deserves it for what he did."
"That may be true Potter," McGonagall said wisely, "but pain and suffering is a far worse punishment than death. Beside's we don't have time, you don't have time. Find the drawing room Potter."
"We can trust him?" Harry asked suspiciously looking at Snape.
"On this I think we can," McGonagll said seriously. "Go now Potter."
Harry nodded and with one last hateful look to Snape he turned and rushed out of the room. McGonaagll turned back to Snape and eyed him sadly.
"I'm not going to kill you Severus," she said quietly. "I am not a murderer. But if you truly want your pain and suffering to end-." She took a vial of yellow liquid out of the pocket of her robes and set it down next to him. "You know what this is and what it does. The choice is yours."
Without another word McGonagall turned and left the room, sending a patronus message to those of the Order to inform them of Voldemort's whereabouts.
Voldemort knew they were coming, he knew everything that had gone on in the manor. He knew how many of his people had been killed, he knew how many of the Order members had been killed, and he knew how many of his people had been turned and who had stayed loyal.
At least he thought he knew everything. Voldemort was a foolish man for someone so brilliant, and no one could deny that he was a brilliant man. He was the only known person on Earth to split his soul seven times. He's survived death on countless occasions. He infiltrated the Ministry. Voldemort knew what he was doing.
But he hadn't counted on children to out smart him. He hadn't known that the Potter brat could survive this long. He had thought killing a child would be easy but he'd been wrong.
He also hadn't counted on the Malfoy brat to inherit his father's ability to sense what was going on in the Manor, and that was his downfall.
"He's spying on us," Draco said as they hurried along. "I don't know how I know but I do."
"The head of the house always knows what's happening," Narcissa said. "You are the head of the house now."
"He's still in the drawing room but he's set up some sort of spell around it."
"You can take it down Draco. You are Master of the Manor now. It will submit to your will."
Draco nodded and thought hard about his intent. He didn't want Voldemort to know what he was doing, he only had to change the spell a little. "I think I did it."
"We'll know soon enough," Arthur said as they rounded a corner.
Down the hall Draco spotted a familiar head of bushy brown hair and his heart leapt in happiness. "Hermione!" he shouted.
"Draco?" she shrieked in relief. He pushed away from the group and ran ahead of them, wrapping his arms around her as she ran in to him. He picked her up and swung her around, too relieved that she was alive to care about the audience. He bent and kissed her lips hard, telling her without words just how pleased he was to have her in his arms again.
"Ron?" Arthur asked spotting his son, but Ron had stopped to stare at the exchange in shock. He hadn't moved since the two had collided, his face changing from confused to one of rage.
"What is this?" he snarled.
Hermione broke away from Draco and turned to her friend, her face going pink. "A lot has happened Ron," she said shakily.
"You're with Malfoy?" he yelled.
"He's not the same Ron," Hermione insisted.
"But he's Malfoy Mione!"
"Son," Arthur warned him, "this young man is the one who got us inside. If it hadn't been for him we would have come in blindly."
"You're defending him dad?" Ron asked his father outraged. "You're defending a Malfoy?"
"Watch what you say about my family, boy," Narcissa snarled.
"What is going on?" Ron yelled in anger and confusion.
"Everything will be explained later," Arthur said, "but right now we need to get to the Drawing room, and we have to go now."
"I have no problem with you Weasley," Draco said. "But only if you won't have a problem with me."
Ron glared at him and turned away without a word.
"Well that went well," Andromeda said, a small smile on her face.
Hermione sighed sadly.
