A Son of Wolves- A Human Adventure
Chapter 21: Celebrating Many
An early night was needed the following night, so hitting the hay early they woke up again refreshed and energised for the next day. Peeking out the window, they waited to some sign or just anything to tell them how far they were from Jasper. They knew they hadn't passed it yet; it would take them to at least mid-afternoon at the speed they were going to get home. So being the Omega he was, Humphrey rounded up the others and started the fun on this final day of travelling. Starting off with an adrenaline fuelled game, He and all the kids managed to get onto the roof of the train around the outside, inventing the sport of train surfing. But when a bridge came, low signs coming speeding towards forced them to start dodging them. If a direct hit from one didn't kill them, then getting thrown off the side would. But by the time they reached the other side, no-one was hurt and everyone were ok. The only thing Humphrey was left to face when they managed to get back inside the car was Kate's worry and anger that he'd do something that stupid. However, seeing the smiles and laughs all around made her calm some and see everyone was having fun. After all, there wasn't going to be much more of this, so why ruin it for them? It was hard for an Alpha to let loose, but she was learning, one of many benefits to having an Omega as a mate.
As the next game was about to start, Kate brought Caleb to one side and explained her was a potential Alpha, and not only that, with his knowledge on humans and surviving amongst them for years, he would make a great tutor on the subject in Alpha school. He was honoured, but he felt a little too old to be going to this school. But that was when she added how Ciara never went, she was taught by Leo, her uncle Garth and by herself most days, and that she would be willing to teach him to hone his skills and become possibly one of the greatest Alphas in the pack. But just when he thought it was over, Kate wasn't done yet. To his dismay, she brought up the conversation about Ciara, her name made his blush ever so slightly and his paws begin to shuffle in nervousness. She told him she was ok, and that she couldn't think of a better wolf for her to be with. Once again, he was thankful and she ended the conversation in the horrifying way in saying that she asks they wait a few seasons before she becomes a grandmother, she didn't feel old enough yet to be called that.
On the other side of the car, Humphrey was having that same conversation with Rick after seeing him and Nikita getting on a little too well. Whispering in each other's ear, he making her giggle as he did. He knew something was going on between them, but it seems they were going far faster then Caleb and Ciara. Rick was not afraid to admit he had feelings towards the she-wolf, but Humphrey wanted to be certain it was not her heat making him think this way. He was certain; this girl was affecting his heart, not his mind and desires.
The train didn't stop; it was a fast train straight to Jasper, only stopping twice in the entire journey, once for refuelling and the second for passengers. So they took the chance to find any food and certainly for a toilet break seeing as they didn't know when to stop. They never found much food, so it was given to the youngest children who were obviously hungry and to those who the adults thought would need it most.
But finally, after so much time in travelling here, finding Leo and all the adventures and mishaps they came across along the way, they were finally home. The familiar of smells of the territory, the pack's scent not too far away, the area of forest they knew all so well, and they were finally among it all. They jumped, much to the worry of the senior Kyp who feared his old bones couldn't take it. However, they all landed/crashed safely, and soon it was only the last leg of their journey before it was all over.
Crossing into the Valley, they were soon greeted by members of the pack as well as their friends. Salty, Shaky and Mooch welcomed back their fourth gang member with high-paws and paw bumps. Winston and Eve greeted their daughter with hugs and kisses as well as their grandchildren, all wolves and single human. Leo was about to explain, but Winston refused to hear it, he didn't care what Leo looked like as long as he had his first grandson back. But then Eve noticed the other who weren't of this pack, and soon she demanded to know who they were. Kyp introduced himself, his mate and children, both blood and adapted, to them, and explained the entire story to them. How he was taken from the wild, forced to endure life in a zoo for many years and in that time have children and now they were in need of a place to stay. Winston welcomed the fellow senior wolf with open paws into the pack, and after some consultation with Eve and Tony, the decision was made and final that they were members of the pack. Kate insisted once more that they stay with them and then find a den of their own in next day.
But it was as they were going to leave Lily came barrelling towards her sister, screaming in pure delight as she flew into her screaming "pregnant". Lily was indeed now carrying Garth's pups, that night on the way to the Northern Pack was the night that she conceived. She had a firm stomach, blessed with the first early stages of the horrible joys of pregnancy that was morning sickness which started the day they left for Rhinelander. She couldn't wait for them to return and tell them the good news. And unbeknown to her or Garth at this early time, two new additions to the family would be in less the two months. Winston called for a celebration, Leo's safe return, Lily's pregnancy, and new members of the pack. And that night that's exactly what happened, there was no time for tours around the territory, only time to show them the Valley and the den they'd be staying in for a short time.
Oh how good it was to see and smell home again, the familiar scents of the family came flooding back to them. It was wonderful, and Leo promised he would be sleeping here tonight and never again in the human world. He had lost his trust in the humans and the human family he had, wolves had more humanity then him. He was a wolf, he was not going to seek out humans again and he was not going to rejoin their world again. However, he did still have his duties to complete, one of which forced him later on that night along with Skye, Ciara and Caleb to go back to the cabin to do their duties. Moving things around, opening old letters, clean up and little and make some mess to make anyone who came by to find the think they had been here recently. This was as close as he was going to get to the human world; he had lost all faith in them now. Plus, it had taken him two days to get here; if Charlie was going to come and find him then he'd either be here today or tomorrow. He wasn't here today, and it was highly unlikely by the looks on everyone's face that they'd come and find him. Add that to how they treated him and by how much they didn't believe him when he told them. It was certain they weren't going to come looking for him any time soon.
They arrived home, Kate and Kali were laughing away having another of their she-wolf talks like they've been doing for the entire train trip home, it was clear they were going to be great friends. Leo came back with a handful of fresh clothes, he was after all still wearing the shirt and trousers of the suit Alex gave him. He washed in the shallow pool in the back of the den, and without a towel he didn't mind jus putting his fresh clothes on anyway.
Night came faster then anyone anticipated, the celebration in full swing. Once again it was outside Winston and Eve's den, wolves danced to other's singing on the rise with other using rocks and sticks to create music and beats, other spoke to one another to the sides, some ate the remainders of the kills the Alpha caught for this night and some didn't come at all. There was a good turn out though. Humphrey tried to help his friends in getting a girl to dance with them, Caleb danced away with Ciara and Nikita danced away with Rick. Kali swung her body around Kyp, a sexy and excited kind of dance as he watched and danced with her as well. The rest of the kids danced away all together, laughing and giggling away with one another, having endless amounts of fun. This was pack life, this was how things should be and stay all the time. Leo however was sat against the wall of the rise, two wolves singing above his head. He was taking a break, but also glad to see all his friends and family having a good time.
"What's up son?" Winston asked as he walked down the slope and noticed him there.
"Nothing grandpa, just taking a break." Leo replied. He walked towards him and sat his fragile frame next to him.
"Age." He groaned and chuckled. "It gets the better of all of us."
"Can't wait for it." Leo chuckled.
"So what's my favourite student sitting here on his own for?"
"You mean your only student." Leo countered. "Like I said, just taking a break."
"We're celebrating many things tonight, one of which is your return. You should be up there with everyone."
"You could say that to Lily as well then." Lily was sat to the side as well as Leo pointed out.
"She needs to take it easy now, and Garth is making sure of that."
"It's going to be hard for her. If she is anything like mom, then she won't be still for long."
"Oh I know she won't." Winston chuckled. "Now tell me, how was your little human adventure?"
"It didn't go to plan." Leo sighed. "I found my family, but they didn't want me."
"I'm…sorry to hear that son." Winston replied sincerely.
"Don't be, because they aren't my real family. My family is right here, you, mom, dad, Rick Ciara, Aunt Lily; you guys are the only family I need."
"I'm glad you think so, because I don't know what I'd do with my favourite student." Winston grinned.
"That came in real use when I was away, are there any other old Alpha tricks you could teach me?"
"A few, but I'm not in shape anymore to teach you I'm afraid."
"There you are!" Skye suddenly exclaimed and bending her head from above and looking down at them upside down. "I've been looking everywhere for you."
"Why?" Leo laughed as their heart rate settled.
"You and me are going to sing, everyone's waiting for you."
"Wait, what?"
"Come on, hurry up." She said and pulling her head back up.
"Don't keep her and everyone else waiting." Winston chuckled. "I know Lily taught you so if she make Garth sing you should be great."
"Not helping." Leo groaned as he pushed himself up. He walked out from under the rise, and around to walk up the slope where the beats and music had already began and Skye was waiting patiently.
"So how's this going to work?"
"I have no idea, let's see what happens."
"GO ON LEO!" Rick bellowed from the crowd.
"COME ON SON!" Humphrey added as the music started to grow louder. But then, as he focused back on himself, he heard Skye begin.
"A room full of sadness
A broken heart
And only me to blame
For every single part
No science or religion
Could make this whole
To be loved but never love
To have but never hold" A smile grew on Leo's face as he watched his sister prancing about and singing to her hearts content, the crowd cheering and dancing away. So Leo took this as his moment and starting walking slowly towards her.
"It's a life, alone, and a desperate, need
To be held, to be loved, so
This is gonna take a bit of getting used to, but I know what's right for you
Fly high, and let me go
That Skye, will save your soul
When you pass by, and then you'll know
That this is gonna take a bit of getting used to but I know what's right, for, you
Let me go"
"Never again." Skye yelled over the beat.
"Of course not." Leo laughed.
"A head full of madness
And no where's safe
When tears aren't big enough, and love turns into hate."
"It's a life, alone, and a desperate need
To be held, to be loved, so
This is gonna take a bit of getting used to but I know what's right for you." With a signal back to the wolves playing the music, they understood and soon they all were singing with them.
"Fly high, and let me go
That Skye, will save your soul
When you pass by, an then you'll know
That this is gonna take a bit of getting used to but I know what's right, for, you" Taking her by surprise, Leo grabbed his sister and hoisted her over his shoulder and held her there.
"So let me go, life will get better."
"And find the love I always gave ya."
"I know you lie there waiting all night long, so find where you belong…"
"Fly high; I'll never let you go." "(Never go)"
"That Skye, will save your soul." "(Let me save your soul tonight)"
"Fly high, don't let me go."(Don't ever let me go…)
"That Skye, will save your soul…
But this is gonna take a bit of getting used to but I know what's right, for, you
Don't let me go…" The music played out and the crowd grew wild at their song. They were cheered, howled and applauded as Skye remained on Leo's shoulder laughing away. Leo couldn't believe this, the one family and the only friends he needed were right under his nose the entire time. Who needed humans, who needed a life as a human, not Leo. He was happy, and as long as things stayed like this, nothing could ruin the rest of his human years. Sure he'd live way longer then anyone in the pack, but at least he'd be with his family and friends.
I would so want to go to that party, I love a good party me. So, Lily's pregnant, The United Pack have eight new members and everything is just perfect. Leo seems to have lost his faith in humanity, and i don't blame him, i would if i were in his shoes. Will his blood family come after him? Will he ever change back? Will the dark shadow ever say more then two or three words in his/her reviews? Will Bastard of the North send me a PM like he usually does after i update? Will stop answering these rhetorical questions? Yes, i will. For now... Until next time. :)
