The Floo Powder Accident

Chapter 21

I hope you enjoy this next chapter! Here it is. :)

Alarms buzzed in each bedroom, waking up everyone in the whole place. Groans were loud as they slapped a button beside their beds. It was early, six AM. You could hear Draco out of all the people. He was yelling his only insult to his alarm. The Slytherin didn't bother shutting it down but stomped off to his dresser. By the time he was changed and exiting the gloomy room, Hermione was strolling by.

"Turn off your alarm, Malfoy," Hermione said coldly. She folded her arms and gave a stern expression. "Go," Hermione stated again. Draco looked taken aback for a moment.

"Don't tell me what to do, Mudblood," Draco demanded.

He walked away before she could pull her wand out. The bushy-haired witch didn't know what it meant. She gave a sigh and stomped into his room. Her arm reached for the alarm button. Once it touched the red button, it was quiet once more. One of her hands held a leather book. Her feet led her away from the icy room and into the living room.

Everyone was gathered at the table. All of them eating or dozing off at moments. The group had dark shadows under their eyes. Food was scattered around the table, they had already managed to cook somehow. There were eggs, bacon, and hash browns that were homemade. Well, besides the bacon and eggs... They were cooked though! Hermione found her way over to Ron and Ginny. She plopped in the seat between both of them.

"Ron," Hermione whispered.

"Yeah?" Ron replied as he ate a slice of bacon. It was gone within seconds, before Hermione could talk again.

"Malfoy called me a "mudblood," what does that mean?" Hermione asked, whipping her head around. It was the first time she didn't know something in the Wizarding world. Ron choked on his next slice of bacon. Hermione patted his back rapidly until he breathed loudly. Ron felt blood rushing to his face.

"He called you that?" Ron questioned. Hermione's head nodded up and down. "He's going to get it," he stood up with his wand in hand and rushed over to Malfoy. Ron's hunched shoulders told Hermione that he would do something horrible.

Hermione paced after him, "Ron, whatever you're going to do, stop." Ron sighed and the Granger led him off to where they sat. Hermione thought it was ridiculous to react over a word, but what was the word's meaning? "So, what does it mean?" She paused as she gulped orange juice down. The golden goblet was huge and could fit more than enough.

"Mudblood's a really foul name for someone who is Muggle-born— you know, non-magic parents. There are some wizards — like Malfoy's family — who think they're better than everyone else because they're what people call pure-blood." (A.N. Ron used this definition from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. So it's J.K. Rowling's, not mine.) Ron spoke in a whisper. Hermione sighed and sat silently for the rest of breakfast.

OoO

Multiple days had passed by now. Six to be accurate. Everyone had gotten used to the irritating alarms. Every time Hermione passed Draco Malfoy now, she gave him a colder look than usual. Ron had gave him a death glare, as Harry and Ginny stayed oblivious. Luna as well hadn't known what had happened. Neville, on the other hand, over heard their conversation on accident.

They may've overreacted in Hermione's mind, but she didn't care. The witch just wanted to be treated like any other wizard or witch though. As well, she was smarter than most pure-bloods.

Cold nights had passed, even with fires roaming the underground house. Amanda Blackheart hadn't showed her face since the day she brought them here. It seemed the day would never come, to when they would arrive back home. Or at least for the wizards. Fred and George were getting bored with the place too. Every time they attempted to use dungbombs, Mrs. Mellark would catch them. She had an eye like a hawk.

As the muggles coped living with wizards, they were learning a lot in the few days. Peeta had been interested in a spell Ginny had cast on her plate. It was to clean the golden plate. She had described to him how she did it, with a simple explanation. Ginny didn't know how to act around the muggles.

The day started off with the sun rising above the horizon. They had learned how they would get settled in the mornings. The Mellarks, and sometimes with Gale or Katniss, would make breakfast. They'd wake up earlier than the rest. After, everyone woke up, they'd find their way through the labyrinth and to the dining room.

All of them were still grumpy and tired, but they'd put up with it. When anyone saw anyone sleeping, they'd wake them up. After, they'd take their ways and do what they wanted to do. Hermione would study her books, getting ready for Hogwarts, while Ron hovered over her. Harry was with Ginny, Luna, and Neville. They'd watch the television. It wasn't any good ever though. Drama or fantasy would be on, however, their props and costumes looked animated or fake.

Peeta would spend his time baking or painting. When he was done, he would let everyone eat if they wanted to. But they would soon have to go shopping. All of the supplies were gone the sixth day, and Luna, Hermione, and Ginny pulled on black coats. Luna's coat was pink. She also wore a black skirt with flower designs sewed in. As well, there were blue, thick tights. The colour was a neon blue. Luna also wore her blonde hair in a ponytail. To complete her outfit there were a dark pair of boots.

Hermione had her bushy hair flowing. She wore a pitch black coat, buckled. She had her wand stuck in a pocket, hidden inside. Adding to her outfit, were a dark pair of jeans. A pair of black boots were identical to Luna's. Although, that was the only thing that they wore matching. On the other hand, Ginny wore an outfit with many similarities to Hermione's.

Ginny had a longer black coat, in the same style as Sherlock Holmes'. Though, she wore long jeans that revealed at the end of her boots. Her hair was up in a bun, a few strands sticking out on accident. Otherwise, Ginny looked like she had just been resting. Her eyes weren't tired one bit by now, she was used to barely any sleep. However, Luna and Hermione had shadows under their eyes.

"Bye," the three said to the others as they exited. They were leaving the underground, and shopping, there would be real air. The three girls would only have to face the smell of metal, including the sight of it. Hermione put her wand to the metal wall and it opened slowly. They walked out of the comfortable underground, and into the sewers. It smelled horrible

Hermione led their way through the sewers and up to the ladder. She clung to the rope each step she took, not wanting to fall. Hermione pushed the sewer's concealer up and over onto the road. The three girls took a giant breath, they were free of the hard-breathing atmosphere. Ginny swished her head back and forth to look for the shops.

"Over here," Ginny pointed. The two witches began to follow the redhead through the metal roads. There were kids playing on the streets with small red balls. They were even playing tag or duck, duck, goose. Hermione sighed as she passed through the identical roads. The three were lost obviously after twenty minutes; they would have to ask someone for directions.

Hermione took lead and directed them to a woman wearing a bright pink. The dress the woman was wearing was layered and puffy. It had a head accessory that was also a pink butterfly bush. It was vibrant and had lights twinkling all over the headgear. The woman wore a bright pink lipstick also, that stood out over the lights. Otherwise, her eyes were a sea blue. As well, her hair was dyed the neon pink.

"Hi," Hermione spoke, trying to sound casual. "We were wondering, could you show us where the shops are?" The three girls bit their lips as they waited for a response. Was it normal for someone to ask for directions here?

"Hi!" The woman beamed. "I'm Lilerino. Strange name, right? I want to change it." She pouted, getting into details about her own life. "Sure, I'll show you. Follow me." Her hands were thrown into the air as she led them away. There were two right turns, a left, and then another right turn. The streets were so long, it took minutes to walk down. Lights seemed to appear over time, as it was getting to be night.

Once they arrived to the horrific shops the lady departed with a loud, "Well, bye! I hope to see you guys around, you look so different!" She exaggerated with her language too much. Ginny rolled her eyes as they walked into the metal super market. Layers of food were placed in rows, nothing fancy. There were potatoes, flour, cereal, everything.

The girls began to scan the rows, although Luna kept wondering off, talking about nargles. Hermione had found eggs, bacon, flour, and many more handy items for breakfast. Ginny pushed a shopping cart as Hermione piled everything in. Once the cart was full, they headed to the cashier. A man stood there with a bored expression. He did not seem happy at all.

He started to pass everything down a small isle, letting a laser hit each. Once the total was on the little black screen, Hermione handed him a hundred, in the currency they used. He looked surprised for a mild second. After the brief moment his expressed turned to emptiness. The three girls didn't receive any change. They began wondering around the town, with everything in the large cart.

While the three witches were shopping

Katniss was pacing in her room. She and Peeta had been tortured... By the Capitol, it was obvious they would. The magic, the crumbling arena. Scars were everywhere, bruises, scratches, blood. The girl on fire winced as her thoughts tormented her. Are they going to bomb District 12, her home, like they did to 13? She hoped not, but she couldn't decide that. She was powerless.

It's better now, that I'm powerless. If I had power, I would create a bigger chaos, Katniss thought to herself.

While her thoughts were making demons in her mind, a creak from the door sounded. Peeta had opened the white door. Katniss and him stared for seconds until he came into the room fully. The blonde baker sat on the relaxing bed. Silence lingered over the room. Although, footsteps came to ear as people passed the shadowed room. Communication was being passed through their minds but not their voices.

"Katniss," Peeta began in a soft voice. "We're going to be safe... But I don't know how we'll make it in their time, who knows what it's like." Katniss nodded in response. The two were both looking at their own hands. "They have no clue where we are." He added. The girl on fire didn't reply. "We should go see if the witches are back by now."

"Yeah," She whispered. The two got off their seats and began walking away. Their footsteps echoed louder than usual as Katniss' eyes were closed. Although her eyes were shut hard, Peeta led her safely to the kitchen. People chatted among each other and her eyes opened. There was no sight of the three young witches.

They'll be here soon, Katniss reassured herself. She joined Haymitch and Effie, with Peeta. The two were arguing about the time zone they were to enter. It seemed like an odd thing the two would fight over. Haymitch thought it would be "luxury" as Effie thought it'd be, in her words, "It will be absolutely horrifying! Why'd you bring me here? The Capitol is alright!" As Effie finished, Katniss rolled her eyes.

After minutes of hearing Haymitch and Effie bicker with each other, the three witches had arrived. They had brought a giant grocery cart in with them. Luna wandered off to the side immediately as Hermione headed for the kitchen. Ginny occupied Hermione's side, helping unload the metal cart. Harry who almost dragged Ron, came to assist the girls.

"You bought way too much," Ron complained as he shoved a cereal box onto a wooden shelf. Hermione and Ginny silently exchanged glances, each filled with annoyance. "Don't you agree, Harry?" He added with a matter-of-fact tone.

"Sure," Harry muttered. He placed a container of flour onto the highest shelf. Harry barely reached it.

Finally, the groceries were put away. The Mellarks and Katniss piled into the kitchen, cooking or baking. The cooks were finished within an hour for dinner. There were slices of meat that steamed. Fresh bread was baked and were placed into a triangle. They decorated the table with the many plates and began to eat. Hermione and Ginny were discussing their trip to the shops. It wasn't as they had expected.

"What was the lady's name?" Ginny questioned Hermione, whose expressions turned scrunched a millisecond later. Hermione's shoulders lifted up in her dark jacket. They slumped to her side once more. "It doesn't really matter." Ginny added.

"Yeah," Hermione started. Her voice went on. Ginny listened intently. On the other side of the table, Effie and Haymitch were still arguing. Katniss and Peeta tried to break them apart from their argument; but somehow they just swirled back into it. The night went on for hours as they ate. The meal was bigger than usual, as they hoped they would only have one more night in the undergrounds.

OoO

It was the middle of the night when alarms pounded in everyone's ears. Everyone woke up with irritated yells. Pillows smashed their alarms for minutes, until they all decided on giving up the solution. Their fingers all poked the dreadful alarms at separate moments. The group who started to get curious of time, searched for the clock wall. It read exactly twelve AM.

Katniss was the first one who strolled to the living room. She found Amanda Blackheart waiting anxiously. The Weasley twin's soon joined the girl on fire. Each eye in the room widened as Amanda stood in the midst. The twins although had began joking around about how serious Amanda was.

"Hurry up, eat, do whatever," Amanda demanded. "Just do it quickly, you're leaving." Her voice ached with tiredness. Murmurs were gathered until each person, besides Amanda, had vanished. They were all gathering small belongings they had, like Hermione. Soon, the group of people were all dressed nicely and were before Amanda again. "Is there anyone else?" She shouted.

No one had replied but blinked for a few seconds. Everyone had been there, so as Amanda did before, she led them away. They climbed the ladder out into the cold wind. The roped ladder had been shakier than usual, but until the last person came up, it was stable. Amanda Blackheart glanced over her shoulder every other two minutes. She was checking if the people were following.

She led them into the dark justice building. It was all metal again by now. Metal stairs, metal walls, and metal chairs. The woman had come to a halt when she reached a chained door. Amanda pulled her wand out and stuck it in a lock. Minutes passed as the chain examined it, the fingerprints. It turned like a clock tower at last and revealed the inside.

Everyone scattered into the room. It was small with no seats. Only a metal room, more like a box. Amanda pushed her wand into a wall again. It slid open revealing a collection of small objects. Each of them looked like lollipops. Scoffs were exchanged with laughter. However, the dark-haired woman wouldn't tolerate as she yelled loudly to everyone.

"Be quiet!" Amanda's voice echoed off the metal walls. Once everyone was silent, she started all over. "Good, thank you. Everyone will take one of these." She held a pink lollipop. "And think of the time zone you want to go to. As well, where you want to be. Let's have you -" she pointed to Harry. "Pick what time zone and place. You came here after all."

Harry began to stutter for a minute until Amanda stopped him.

"You - bushy hair," Amanda began again. Draco snorted as she went on. "Name the year you came from, and the place."

"Sure," Hermione replied, ignoring her rude comment. "Year 1993, the Burrow, England." The young witch stated it with no problem.

"Alright, think of that time zone, and the place..." Amanda said as she handed out the lollipops. Once each one had gotten one she continued instructions. "Now, you eat it technically, and think of the place and time zone." Bewildered looks took place, but they did as they were told.

One by one each person began disappearing, starting with Hermione. The last person to leave was Prim, who was sad they had accidentally left Buttercup at District 12. She had just realized and didn't want to leave. However, she had vanished out of Amanda's sight.

OoO

Hermione landed in the Burrow, the first one. It was cleaner than usual and older looking... No one was in sight so she began to wander the halls. She knocked on one of the Weasley's bedroom. She known it as Percy Weasley's. After a short period of knocking, Percy Weasley appeared before the door. His eyebrow were arched and his red hair was shining in the sunlight.

"What do you need, mum?" He began as he wasn't looking. Then, he stopped himself as he looked down. "Hermione Granger?" He questioned, peering down at her.

She nodded, "What time is it?" She had stated and gotten right to the point, no babbling needed. Hermione's energy was taken away from the teleportation of time and where she was.

"You've been missing for over a year," Percy said urgently, grabbing her arm. "Why'd you need time now?" He had a hard grip and soon they vanished from the Burrow. After millions of swirls, they appeared in the Ministry of Magic. "Follow me," Percy demanded as he walked with confidence through groups of people.

"I haven't lived a year though yet, I was in Panem, a different country. They were vicious - it was a pretty scary time, but then we found a Wizarding community." Hermione babbled on but Percy had no intention to listen. She had just dived into an explanation. The witch was finally ridding herself of her emotions about the place after the first three sentences.

Percy Weasley was dragging her to the Minister's office.

OoO

"We're home!" Ron yelled in triumph. Everyone was sitting in the Burrow, besides Hermione. "Where's Hermione though? She should be here... Maybe she had gotten to a random-other-kind-of-close-place." Ron was stating the obvious with a different personality, as it seemed. Although, Harry nodded with agreement. A plate was filled with meat and cookies in the kitchen. Ron helped himself happily. The Panem people were all observing the place with wide-eyes.

Thanks for reading this chapter! There'll be more on it's way soon. I'm going to prewrite a bit. On the other hand, I'm going on a two-week vacation, but I'll make some time to write. I may not post though, I'll reread over and over, to make sure it's perfect. Also, they may be getting shorter, a thousand and five hundred words at the least. Just a bit. I'll post soon, I really like writing this story. I want to continue it. - I know I'm sort of a babbler, sorry.

I'm also going to post a new story if you guys want to read it. It's for Harry Potter. The Next Generation, if you want to check it out later.
