Destinies Intertwined

A/N- Alright! Now we're raring for yet another chapter! I'm so excited! This is where things start heating up between our two little love birds! So I hope you all stick with me.

Disclaimer- Don't own InuYasha, if I did. There would be a lot more romance and a lot less Kikyou...shudder...sadly I don't. So we'll just have to make do with my story...

Chapter 21:

I Want You

Feeling rather stiff, InuYasha shifted a bit. His back was starting to hurt a little and something rather hard was poking him in the tail-bone. Growling, InuYasha lifted his hips, attempting to move them when he felt the weight upon him.

Slitting open his eyes in confusion, he peeked down and his heart stuttered to a stop at what he saw. Kagome was lying completely atop him, her head was even with his chest and her breasts were pressing against his belly.

But when he shifted so did she and one of her knees were coming perilously close to a certain part of his anatomy, one that was very sensitive. Not sure what he should do and not wishing to wake her, InuYasha tried to lift her off of himself.

Only to find her hands clamped about his back, one was gripping his upper shoulder and the other was latched onto his waist. And it seemed that she wasn't going to let go anytime soon.

So he gave up, deciding to just enjoy the moment instead. Because no matter the danger to his lower extremity he loved having her in his arms. It felt like heaven and he knew, as soon as she awoke that it would all end. He tightened his arms about her at that thought, whispering "I wish we could stay like this forever."

"Why can't we?" InuYasha froze at the sound of Kagome's voice, 'she's awake? She actually heard that?'

Lifting her head, Kagome propped herself up so that she could look InuYasha in the eyes, "why can't we stay like this InuYasha? I don't want to go back. Please InuYasha, stay here with me."

Gulping InuYasha felt his cheeks heat as he turned his head away, only to have Kagome's hands grip his face and force him to look her in the eyes. "Don't shut me out InuYasha, please. Just...just tell me what you really wish to, tell me the truth."

Feeling his heart beat faster, InuYasha weighed his options. Could he keep lying to himself and to her? Could he live with himself if she hated him? Closing his eyes he shook his head, "Kagome...I...I can't..."

Kagome felt her heart breaking, "I...I see." Moving off of InuYasha, Kagome held his haori tight about her body as she walked out of the cave and into the light.

Tilting her head back, she stared up at the sunny sky even as tears of sorrow slid down her cheeks. 'I guess I was wrong, I guess he didn't mean what he said last night...'

Hearing InuYasha moving behind her, Kagome took a deep breath, breathing in the fresh after rain scent in the air. Normally she would revel in a moment like this, but now...she could not.

"InuYasha...I release you from your vow to me. I...no matter what you think of me, no matter if you hate me. InuYasha...I...I will always," pausing, Kagome finally turned to look at InuYasha with tear filled eyes. "I will always love you InuYasha, always."

Turning away before she could see his response, Kagome started walking. She'd said her piece, now she had to go somewhere, anywhere as long as it was away from InuYasha. 'This is for the best...it has to be.'

She'd gotten all of three feet when a hand gripped her wrist and she was locked in a strong embrace against a hard chest. Knowing who this was she struggled, "let me go InuYasha, please."

A hand gripped her chin lifting her head, her eyes met InuYasha's smoldering golden eyes and he looked pissed. Shivering Kagome was about to plead with him once again when he bent his head and locked her in a deep and very powerful kiss.

She was frozen in shock for several long moments, only to melt against the Hanyou's chest as she kissed him back just as strongly. Her arms slid about InuYasha's shoulders as more tears streamed down her cheeks. 'Even if this is a goodbye kiss, it's good enough.'

He'd been heartbroken when Kagome had turned away from him, when she'd 'released' him from his promise to her. It tore his heart in two hearing her say those words and then she finished her statement.

He was so shocked when she had uttered those three beautiful words that he didn't notice that she was leaving. When he'd snapped out of it, he was determined that he set things straight. She had said it, she had said she loved him and that was all it took for him to make up his mind on what to do.

He wanted her, come hell or high water, he wanted Kagome to be his and only his forever. So he'd acted and now, feeling Kagome kissing him back, InuYasha knew he could tell her now. Tell her everything.

After kissing for a few more moments, InuYasha broke the kiss but kept his arms clamped about Kagome. He wasn't letting her go until he told her what he needed to tell her. Kagome was gasping for air so he remained silent for a few seconds more.

When Kagome started to turn her head and squirm in his arms, he tightened his grip and narrowed his eyes at her. "Listen to me Kagome...I know I'm an idiot and not exactly the most open with my feelings. But I swear to you Kagome that what I'm about to say is the honest to Kami truth."

Kagome had stopped struggling and was looking up at him with her beautiful blue eyes, it made his heart race as his body started to break out in a sweat. He was so nervous but he steeled himself, he had to tell her and he had to tell her now.

"Kagome, I...I love you. I have loved you for a very long time and it has taken me far too long to realize it. I lost you once Kagome, I don't want to lose you again. I know I'm not a Lord or some important person, but I am hard working and I swear to you Kagome, I will never leave your side. Ever, please...give me another chance."

Ending with a slight tremble to his voice, InuYasha kept his eyes locked with Kagome's. He was determined to see every second of her response and he wanted her to see just how serious he truly was. 'Please Kami's let me have at least this small measure of joy, please!'

Kagome closed her eyes as she let InuYasha's words wash over her, chasing away all the despair she'd felt. So with her heart feeling lighter than it had ever been before, Kagome opened her eyes and smiled. Reaching out she touched InuYasha's cheek, "say it again..."

Licking his lips, InuYasha shook, "I...I love you Kagome."

Laughing, Kagome felt tears of joy rush down her cheeks, "you don't know how beautiful those words sound to me InuYasha...or how long I've wished to hear them from you. I...I had lost all hope to ever hear them...thank you, thank you for telling me the truth finally."

Feeling his chest expand with warmth, InuYasha smiled as he lifted Kagome up and twirled her. Her laughter was such a beautiful sound that he wished he could hear it forever, "I'm sorry it took me so long to tell you. I won't ever hold my feelings from you again Kagome, I swear it."

Hugging him close, Kagome nodded her head against his chest. InuYasha closed his eyes as he tried to push aside what his gut was telling him. Kagome's father was a Lord; he would never allow their union, ever.

But he knew as much as he wished he could take Kagome and run, that right now she needed her father. Besides, he would soon be hunting for them, as would Mei and Mine.

Coming to a decision, InuYasha gripped Kagome's shoulders and pulled her away enough that he could look into her eyes again. The confusion he saw in them made his stomach knot.

"Kagome, we have to go back. Your father will be worried and we cannot run forever." Kagome's eyes darkened a bit, but she nodded her head in acceptance, "you're right. But promise me InuYasha; no matter what my father says or what he does, you won't leave me."

Bending his head, InuYasha nuzzled his nose against Kagome's, "I swear it Kagome, I will never leave you again."

Smiling at that, Kagome reached up and gripped InuYasha by the back of his head. She pulled his head down and kissed him soundly, after a few seconds, she broke the kiss. "Let's get going then..."

Nodding his head, InuYasha lifted Kagome up into his arms, making sure she was completely wrapped up in his haori. "Hold on tight Kagome," Kagome curled closer to InuYasha's chest and even wrapped an arm about his middle to keep herself stable.

Once he was sure that Kagome would be safe as they traveled, InuYasha picked up his juban and tucked it around Kagome as well. Making sure to note the location of the cave, InuYasha took off.

He knew the faster they went the sooner they could get through the hardest moment, facing Kagome's father again. He only hoped her father was in a listening mood.
