CHAPTER 21

Summer stayed in the dorm for a full three days before she could hold in the tears. She rarely appeared at meals, the house-elves made her some sandwiches in the dorm whenever she didn't appear during meals. She studied as hard as she could. Summer hardly talked to anyone either. She attended classes as usual but spent all her other time locked in her dorm, memorizing books.

At the exams, she knew the answer to just about all the questions but Summer hardly cared for her results. All she wanted to do was see what was left of the Ashland house.

It was the last day of school. During the past week, Summer had managed to talk more to her friends, she was getting back to herself though she was still a bit teary. Summer often stared at herself in the mirror. She thought of her resemblance to her mother. Callie also had blond hair but not as silvery-white. She had kind blue eyes as well. Callie's personality was not like her family's.

Though Summer may not know it, Callie came from a long line of Slytherins, but with a bit of French descent too. Callie was the first Gryffindor in the whole Ashland family. Of course, they never treated her the same again but they didn't disown her. Callie was a very kind woman, always there for everyone. Summer thought that she herself was hardly one-third of her mother.

Summer was quite a sharp-tongued and easily angered girl sometimes, not to mention that she could have the nastiness of a true Slytherin.

"Summer? The train's leaving in thirty minutes, we'd better get going to the Express," Ginny gently tapped Summer's shoulder, waking her from staring in the mirror.

"Yeah...sure. I'll meet you in the Express," Summer said, meeting Ginny's gaze. Ginny patted her friend's shoulder once more before taking her trunk and vanishing out of the room with Ashley.
